Plus there´s the best underground anthems such as the Rick Rubin/Russel Simmons tribute 'Popozuda Rock n´Roll' by De Falla, or the track 'C.I.D.A.D.E. D.E. Who knew that combining booming Miami bass booty sounds, super cheesey `80s samples and loud Brazilian beats in a deliberately lo-tech manner, with (honestly) poorly shouted off-key rhymes sung atop the whole distorted, chaotic business would provide some of the most amazing dance music of the `00s? Like the best punk rock, this Brazilian dance music clearly aims to be as stupid as possible and just get people moving. But, as with "Mulher Coca Cola" by Ricardo E Esquisito, and De Falla's " Popozuda Rock'n'roll," the result is, often enough, sublimely brilliant. Even the songs that don't really work, such as MC Jack E Chocolate's choppy, opera-sampling "Pavaroty," are worth repeated listens. People are writing their dissertations on this stuff right now, while at the beyond-bump-and-grind-heavy parties this music fuels in Brazil, girls allegedly wake up pregnant a month later without knowing who the father is. This is a great disc I dj and my friends and I love this disc people dont really know what to do when you first put it on then the bass kicks and the butts bounce so so so much fun!!!!! The music is low tech and it is Rio music not San Palo it is very getto base

I like about half of these tracks, which makes this better than most cd's I've heard in the past few years. The rawness/energy is like that of early 80's hip hop/electro-funk or mid 80's bass. It definitely makes you want to move. I'm glad that I own it. Now I just need to find some more of this stuff. Several of the tracks have the same basic rhythm, similar to how multiple artists will release their own version of a dancehall reggae riddim. The overall sound is of bass beats starting and stopping, mixed with traditional(?) Brazilian drums, a little electronica here and there, and energetic raps/chants. Very nice mixture. One of the tracks sounds like a carnival song with drop bass.

This is a really great album with many different sounding songs. I can't even begin to rate the tracks individually because they're all very good in their own ways. I find myself putting this on repeat all the time because it's just that good! If you listen to this and DON'T like it just give it a few more listens and it will probably grow on you. This music makes me wish I had a booty to shake...but I don't. Hehe.

This Cd is a great party accessory. For those of you new to Brazilan Funk, this is sure to be a warming experience. Each track is consistent in the fun, fnky style of music popular in Brazil! These afro-brazilian beats are bass laden, strung along with colourful, vibrant words textured by the beautiful Portuguese language. For a diversion from your run in the mill commercial rap, give this a try. The language barrier won't stop you from enjoying this awesome CD!

Yeah really....this stuff at low volume doesnt work. I live and work in Brazil part time and spend loads of time in Rio. This stuff rocks the favelas and then some. Although this is the watered down version of what is called "proibidao"...it still rocks! Buy this CD (and the first one) and listen closely. You'll notice, even if you dont understand the words, that theres an uncontrolable urge to get down after a while. So with that in mind....GET DOWN!
