About the Artist
Awol One is still shaking the grounds of underground hip-hop after bursting onto the scene in Los Angeles, California in 1988. Taking off on his b-boy journey, his influences were KDAY FM Radio and break dance music. However, soon after, the art of DJ'ing found Awol One and manifested itself. He found himself DJ'ing in backyards. He eventually moved up to performing in nightbclubs. In the summer of 1995 he was DJ'ing the Lowrider Magazine American Tour for Thump Records. Scores of hip-hop producers have shown interest in the quiet aura of this emcee and his music has been featured on MTV Road Rules. Awol One and his vocal stylings have capticated audiences worldwide, having performed alongside greats such as Common, 2 Live Crew, The Breeders, Eminem, Jurassic 5, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, The Alkaholiks, Hieroglyphics, Aceyalone, Dilated Peoples, Mix Master Mike, Kool Keith, Sen Dogg of Cypress Hill, Afrika Bambaataa, Swollen Members and De La Soul.
