1 out of 5 stars Dem Franchize Girlz.......2006-12-20

HMMMM where do I begin? These clowns cant rap, the beats are putrid, plus their beef with D4l is about as interesting as a round of golf. Lean wit it, rock wit it has to be in the top 5 worst dance records ever plus the dance itself is stupid as f***! Am I the only one who sees something remotely gay about a bunch of guys dancing, snapping and popping with no females in the equation? As freaky as she wanna be(their dedication to their girlfriends D4L),featuring Trey Songz(he must want his career to end with all these bad collaborations), is about as childish as Cam'ron's Suck it or not. Songs like Dont play with me and Suckas wanna try me suffer from severe cases of lame hooks disease and lame rhymes disease. I think they like me was always trash and will someone please explain to me how do you ride rims(I wanna know)? Bottom Line: These c**nts need to disappear out of sight like their down low boyfriends D4l. They have no game to be on top of. F*** these losers and their lame ghetto square dance!

1 out of 5 stars Uhhhhh...........2006-12-17

This album wasn't really good, it can get a little catchy like in "I Think They Like Me" and "Ridin' Rims", but I think "Freaky As She Wanna Be" was the worst song in this CD. I heard this album some where in google, but forgot. I really didn't like rap, I can't believe I wanted this album at the first place. I'm not a rap fan, but I think this would be perfect for many rap fans. Enjoy n***as!

1 out of 5 stars terrible.......2006-12-13

pure unadulterated garbage...this is the reason why the South is killing hip hop. This snap music crunk bull crap is killing rap right now and franchize boyz are the leaders in it. If you like rap at all, do not purchase this album.

2 out of 5 stars Dumb Franchize Boyz.......2006-10-26

Dem Franchize Boyz drifted around the ATL music scene and dropped a number of independent releases, but then their song "White Tee", while not necessarily becoming a major hit by Billboard standards, did give them some brief attention. But that's nothing compared to the popularity they've received thanks to their latest album, On Top of Our Game.

I personally don't see what the big deal is about this album. Before I listened to it, I thought I would be annoyed by all the snap music, but it turns out that the problem isn't necessarily the music itself, but the below-average lyrics that all four members of Dem Franchize Boyz put on wax. I never was that impressed by "I Think They Like Me" (an obvious single because it's censored), but the thing is, that's actually the best song on the album.

Many of the songs feature all-too-familiar subject matter, like cars ("Ridin' Rims"), bling-blingin' ("You Know What It Is"), and hardcore sex ("Freaky As She Wanna Be" -- and why does Trey Songz keep wasting his talent like this?). The choruses can get a little uncreative too: "Don't Play With Me" has "B, don't play with me" while "Stop Callin' Me" has "B, stop callin' me" (by the way, calling the latter song wack would be an understatement). And "They Don't Like That" makes me wonder if they were reading our minds.

The production also tends to get repetitive; when I heard "Suckas Come and Try Me", I felt like singing: "I think I think they like me!" And the remix of "White Tee" is unnecessary, especially because they mention their white tees in just about every song on here. I'm also starting to think my brother was right when he suggested that D4L and Dem Franchize Boyz are the same group.

The only thing more annoying than the group's rapping is when Damon Dash shows up on "Bricks 4 the High". No, he isn't rapping; he's instead talking -- no, not talking; WHINING about severed ties with Jay-Z and Roc-a-Fella (*sigh*...is he still talking about that?). In the end, while I wouldn't call this the worst So So Def album ever (Young, Fly & Flashy Vol. 1 gets that honor), it's pretty darn close. If this is Dem Franchize Boyz at the top of their game, what does rock bottom look like?

Those Franchise Boys (name edited for proper grammar reasons) are just another reason why rap is basically nothing more but flogging a dead horse nowadays. This is simply nothing but mindless drivel. It's basically a scam for more cash, like the majority of rap nowadays. This has no value, no meaning, nothing. Just a bunch of n*gg*rs rapping about the most ridiculous stuff to date.

Buy anything except for this.

In ur case I would be offened to because u have no music knowledge at all!! Now, everything is not always about the beats to a song! If u can relate to what a person is talking about then u can understand there music. I don't think u reached that level yet... so next time u comment about somebody and start to feel offended, don't say or talk about anyone at all!

This is a good example of rap today. You don't need to be a MC to land a deal, or even know how to rhyme. All you need to do is come up with a dance move, make songs about your damn clothes and how you party all the time and your on. This ain't right man... it just ain't right !!!

Shevonne the imperial hoodrat or whatever you claim to be.....you wouldn't know about being a hustler if Ice-T slapped you with your tampon. Its painfully obvious that you don't have any music knowledge due to the fact you enjoy ignorant, inbred, klown music. I am sure you do relate to the lyrics because you definitely have the iq of a tree frog. And no I will never reach that level.......or should I say sink to that level because I never move backwards with my intellect only forward.

Dem Wack boyz are one of th worst groups out there to date.

2 out of 5 stars Snap Music...The New Generation Of Southern Rap (Rating: 4 out of 10- -2 stars).......2007-01-07

It seems like a majority of reviewers are correct about this album. Just plain wack and trashy snap music to try to sell records. Now some people think that I'm from the south, so I'm supposed to like this type of music. Wrong!! The same people who gave us that single "White Tees" managed to sign to So So Def (Jermaine Dupri what did you do, sell your soul?), and recorded a sophomore album.

Now the album is just plain wack for the most parts. Horrible lyrics like "Watch your face beat up my hand" from the somewhat hit song "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" and the un creative repetative chorus on "B**** Stop Callin Me". Mostly the subject matter on this album is about drugs, cars, and going to clubs. Whoop-dee-do. I can just go on and on about how horrible this album is.

The guest appearances are horrible also. "Oh I Think The Like Me (remix)" is just as wack as the origonal. This time they bring in the So So Def Allstars (Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Jermaine Dupri) to help add to horrible song. The only good guest appearance is the Three 6 Mafia assisted "Don't Play With Me", and that is one of the better songs on this album.

Overall this album fails big time. Dem Franchize Boys did show an improvement- techinically. Their self titled debut was just plain stupid. This here is a level higher, classifing it as wack. On Top Of Our Game is basically classified as 'been there, done that' only in a less creative way. If this is the "top of their game" their game must not be very big. They did go platnum...in cell phone ringtones, so there is money being made somewhere. Ususally I don't buy albums, if I've already downloaded already, or know that it is going to be wack. I never would have listened to this if my cousin didn't leave this at my house. Hardcore Southern listeners will not like this review, those are the people I can highly recommend this to.

I downloaded this b4 it came out and I'm glad I downloaded it. "Oh I Think They Like Me" was an aiight song when it dropped but "Lean Wit It Rock Wit It" got played out the 2nd time I heard it. Only good songs on this album are:
My Music (cuz Bun B is on it)
Bricks 4 The High (cuz Jim Jones on it, beat is good)
Ridin' Rims (hot)
Don't Play Wit Me (Three 6 Mafia can't even save DFB on this one. but ok)

2 out of 5 stars 2-1/2 Stars -- Their more like a Franchize at the bottom of their game.......2006-05-20

I know this is not saying much but this CD is actually BETTER than their self-titled debut album. Why do I say that? Because that album was overhyped with their hit song "White Tee" (which by the way I still never liked) and the rest of their album pretty much sounded the same production and lyric wise. The main problem with all these south artist and groups is that they all rap mainly about the same stuff, cars, money, girls and the don't F with me I'm the best now tracks.

But back to the actual album there is some versatility in the songs but unfortunatley they cover the same material most south artists are rapping about whether it's about sex "Freaky As She Wanna Be", the I'm hot now track, "Give Props", cars in "Ridin Rims", and of course the don't F with me song "Don't Play With Me".

I know it does help to have Jermaine Dupri produce your album for you but it doesn't help when he, Bow Wow and Da Brat outshines you on your own track on "I Think They Like Me (Remix)". Speaking of getting outshine by guest artist, Bun-B does the same thing on "My Music", and ditto for Three 6 Mafia on "Don't Play With Me". Of course everyone has heard their club banger "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" which helped boost snap music but after a while even that song wore on me.

Yes the Franchize have helped along with D4L kick start the snap music craze, and this album is nice enough for a party. But those who want something with real lyrics will have to check elsewhere.

1 out of 5 stars D4L = fell off.......2006-04-14

On The Top Of What Game? DFB has no game whatsoever, they are atrocious and all their music is trash. I hope they ride their game straight to the bottom, because thats where they obviously will find themselves in about a month. "White Tee" "lean wit it, Rock wit it" have the same beat and same motion with the lyrics, if no one else notices that then u have to be a no-nothing psycho idiot. Holla to real artists in the midwest : Do or Die, Snypaz, Crucial Conflict, Psycho Drama, Twista, Kanye West, Common, Johnny P, Krayzie Layzie Bizzy Wish N Flesh Bone Thugs N Harmony

Album Description

The Kings of Snap Music have just gone chopped and screwed. DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ' #1 singles "I Think They Like Me" (Remix) and "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" pays homage to this southern style of rap made famous by Houston's legendary DJ Screw.

The laid back, mesmerizing versions of these hit singles is just another testament to DFB's allegiance to the South's movement in the rap game.

This cd has some good songs such as "Lean Wit, Rock wit it", "I Think They Like Me", and "Ridin Rims", and "Bricks 4 The High" but overall isn't very good. Songs like "Give Props", and "Don't Play With Me" stink and I like three 6 mafia! The CD has a good beat but pretty stinky lyrics such as "Were like EA Sports It's all in the game" I mean come on! I could think of that! I absolutley can't stand Jizzalman! I also agree with the reviewer above me who says that they always talk about bein "posted on the block". So in closing the album is okay.

2 out of 5 stars Y'all Have To Be Kidding (2.5 Stars).......2006-02-16

A lot of people are saying that this album is better than their 1st one. That's not saying much because their 1st album was terrible. There was only one direction they could go -- up. It's hard to imagine them doing worse than their first LP. I said this about the Young, Fly, & Flashy album, and the same applies here, so I'll say it again: When the hottest line on your entire album comes from Bow Wow, your album is in serious trouble. But let me balance that statement though. This isn't exactly one of those album you buy when you want lyrical gymnastics. This is simple, bass heavy, crunk music. It's effective in it's purpose, but it's totally generic (the recipe for most party songs). And some of these songs are just flat out horrible. "Stop Callin' Me" isn't only horrible, but it isn't about anything if you're paying attention to the wack lyrics DFB put on it (and whoever wrote the hook should be slapped). And who's idea was it to let Dame Dash (yeah, THAT Dame Dash) scream all over a song (Bricks 4 The High)? I want to know who the guy was that said "yeah, that's a good idea". Dame is doing what he does best, so he's not at fault.....I blame the idiot that put him on the song. "Suckas Come And Try Me" is probably the worst song to come out of the south since Drama dropped his album. And if you ask me, the "White Tee" remix was a step backward from the original. It would help if they could talk about something other than "haters", postin' up on the block (I swear they say that on the album at least 100 times), rims, jewelry, and weed. But expecting them to change up their sound would be silly on my part I guess. Besides, if people buy this, why should they change? That's another story though. In short, the album fails to seperate DFB from the pack. The beats are generic and the rhymes are terrible ("I'll make you 1 2 step like Ciara"? Come on, I could write that in my sleep) And it's hard to tell if there are four rappers or just one because they all sound similar.

Once you understand the purpose of this album though, then you can find a few decent tracks, but don't go getting your hopes up just yet. There are only 3 or 4 songs worth hearing. "My Music" is listenable and DFBs put down some decent lyrics that are helped out by Bun B's good appearance. The best beats on the album are on "Don't Play With Me" feat. Three Six Mafia and "Freaky As She Wanna Be". "Don't Play With Me" features production from DJ Paul & Juicy J, so you know it's tight. I love Three Six, so that's my favorite song on the album. And "Freaky As She Wanna Be" will be the second single off the album if they're smart.

On Top Of Our Game is good for what it's supposed to be good for (partying and....well, that's it), but not much else. Jermaine Dupri is trying his best to keep his label relevant, but I don't know if this approach is gonna help him any. This album is better than their debut, but that's not really saying much. This should be pretty obvious, but I'll say it anyway. If you're into lyrics, then this isn't for you. If you want crunk beats to bounce to, then this is right up your alley. It depends on your preference, but this listener has heard better crunk music and recommends passing on this one.

Standout Tracks: Freaky As She Wanna Be, I Think They Like Me (Remix) feat. JD, Da Brat, & Bow Wow, Don't Play Wit Me feat. Three Six Mafia (My Favorite), and My Music feat. Bun B.
