5 out of 5 stars Well-Deserving of the the Five Star Average It Has on Here..........2007-06-24

'Enta Da Stage' by Black Moon is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Featuring great lyrics, an awesome, semi-dark atmosphere, and creative production, it is a must own for your hip-hop collection.

Featuring three MC's, in terms of groups that feature multiple rappers, I would say they're superior to the Wu Tang Clan and that this album is better than Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Lyrically, the group shines on tracks like 'Powerful Impak!', 'Ack Like U Want It', and 'U Da Man', and tracks like 'Who Got Da Props?', 'Niguz Talk S--t', and 'Slave' feature very creative beats and instrumentals.

Whether you're hip-hop collection is still rapidly growing and you've slept on this or you're a new fan, you really owe it to yourself to check out 'Enta Da Stage'. I have this classic on regular rotation.

Standout tracks: 'Niguz Talk S--t', 'Who Got da Props?', 'Black Smif-N-Wesson', and 'Slave'.

5 out of 5 stars Get the loot from the man...Kick his a** with my Timbaland!!!.......2007-05-30

This album just won't leave my head! I try to listen to other stuff, but it just sounds......NOT GRIMY ENOUGH! When I close my eyes while listening to this cd I feel like I'm stickin kids up in an ally of buck-town. DJ EvilDee turned out some of the darkest beats I have ever heard..And I love em! I kept hearin how good this album was, but I never gave it a chance until about a year ago. I f***in loved it from the first sound of "Buck Em Down". I'm the type of person that listens to a new cd every week, but for some reason I keep scrollin to this on my ipod. Buckshot ripps the mic to shreds, EvilDee keeps it grimy, and 5ft. is a perfect sidekick. They don't make rap groups like this anymore......kinda sad:( Keep Bangin...Old School 4Lyfe

5 out of 5 stars A classic in da 90's.......2007-05-25

Out of 80 reviews, 72 people gave it 5 stars and i will make it 73. What can you say about an album that had songs like Enta Da Stage, Who Got Da Props, and my favorite How Many Emcees? Straight fire! Albums like this one brought the east coast back in 93 and paved the way for the legendary class of 94. The beats were hot and the rhymes were usually on point. A must have in da collection unless you're new school and you probably won't get it!

5 out of 5 stars Why would this not get 5 stars????.......2007-04-22

"Check how I kick it when I was wicked around the way/ hold my tech cuz my ni**as pump by day..." This album is STILL in heavy rotation in my car. High school on the bus with my walkman, with scotch tape around the headphones and the cassette. Enta Da Stage was THE classic grimey, rob a dude album. From the world's littlest dudes...we all somehow knew they weren't bluffing. If you don't have this album, or worse you never heard it, and you are a lover of "real hip hop" (a term I hate now) then straight up...you played yourself. Period.

5 out of 5 stars Truly a Classic.......2007-04-07

"On the streets he was tough, locked up, he was sweet stuff", LOL,

Man so many great rymes, beats, etc. on the c.d. truly a classic. Takes me back to my college days, before the minivan, house, and nagging a$z wife.

5 out of 5 stars Smif-N-Wessun - Dah Shinin.......2007-03-24

After Black Moon dropped "Enta Da Stage" in 1993, people knew about Boot Camp was about. Then 2 years later in 1995, Smif N Wessun came up with a CLASSIC debut album! This is the second album to come out of the Boot Camp Clik. If you thought Black Moons "Enta Da Stage" was classic, then you HAVE to pick this up now!!

The lyrics on this album are on point all the way through. Words about life on the streets, fakes, and just all that hood and real hip-hop! Lyric wise, youll feel the same type of lyrics like those from Black Moons debut album. They wont dissapoint!

The production on this album deserves these words... Insanely dope! If you heard Black Moons first album, you knew that "Da Beatminerz" were on about every track, youll find the same thing here! Da Beatminerz are back for more DOPE beatmaking! I don't think there is one weak beat on this album, you got those heavy bass, and just straight bangers!

To sum it up, just like me tell you this. If you like Boot Camp, Black Moon, Heltah Skeltah or any of it, or good hip-hop, do not... I repeat.. do not pass up picking up this album! Its DOPE!!!!

My Top 5 Songs
1.Wrektime
2.Wontime
3.Bucktown
4.Cession At Da Doghillee
5.Wrekonize

I got kicked out of class for bumping this back in the day. Its true it only got 3 mics in the Source. Thats when I knew the Source was bogus. 12 years later Tek n Steele still keep their Timz n Hood Check. Don't get it twisted, this album is a classic in every definition of the word. If you slept on it then, don't sleep now. Make sure you cop Dah Shinin - you'll be glad you did.

Now I've heard of Smif-N-Wessun for sometime now. I actually got into them when they were the Cocoa Bovas and were signed to Rawkus Records back in the 90's and been a fan ever since. Then when I heard Black Moon's "Enta Da Stage" these guys were featured on songs on that album ("Black Smif-N-Wessun" & "U Da Man"). So I had to check this album out to hear what it was like.

This album is full of New York grimy cuts that sound fresh, even almost 12 years (damn, it's been that long???) from when it debuted. With rhymes like "...watch your lips and my boots make a french kiss...", that showed that this duo played no games at all. Most of their rhymes were about guns and smoking weed. Yeah, the subject matter was limited, but it was still great to listen to.There are a lot of gimey cuts on here that are rememerable like "Wrekonize" and "Wrektime". The song "Hellucination" is a story telling song while Tek & Stelle trade verses throughout about everyday life.

There are a few tracks to me that stood out right away when I first heard this album, and that was the posse Boot Camp Clik song "Cession At Da Doghillee" (Stelle kills that last verse), and the last track "Partners-N-Crime". Production wise is by the Beatminers, another reason why fans love the Boot Camp Clik so much.

Many say this album is better than Black Moon's "Enta Da Stage", and I have to agree (only by a small margin). Tek and Stelle do stand strong on their debut and come off to rhyme along any big time rapper back in '95. I seriously believe that this album was so underrated. If you get a chance cop this.

Favorite Tracks: Wrekonize, Wrektime, Soundboy Bureill, Bucktown, Shinin...The Next Sh**, Cession At Da Doghillee, Hellucination, Wipe Ya Mouf, Partners-N-Crime

P.S.- Thoughout my time here on Amazon, I've seen atleast two Listamania lists here that said that this album received 3 mics in The Source Magazine. If that rumor is true, I'm pretty sure that reviewer was fired or received some harsh disiplinary action. That rating itself seriously borders on criminal.

5 out of 5 stars step to my bootcamp.......2006-07-29

And catch black eyes. This is when you had to have skills just to be recognized by the hip hop community. A damn shame those days is dead. This album is another east coast classic. This in my opinion outshines Black moon first album. If you into old skool east coast hip hop, cop this right away.

5 out of 5 stars REFRESHING.......2005-07-06

I honestly bought this cd and didn't no what it was, I was just curious. I put it in my cd player and I didn't even no what kind of music it was going to be, and it turned out to be one of the best rap albums I've ever heard, and I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true, If your reading this and haven't heard Weerd Science I can't even begin to describe what your missing out on. A big surprise though is the lead singer is the drummer from Coheed and Cambria and he is white, but Eminem better look out cause this guy flows straight gangsta rhymes.

3 out of 5 stars Better than Gym Class Heroes.......2005-05-05

Review by Ray Harkins:

Since this release will have mostly broadsided people as only rumblings were getting out about Josh from Coheed and Cambria doing a rap side project, but that is basically all it was, a rumor. Then a few songs leaked as Coheed began on their massive swing towards the stratosphere of popularity and people began to talk. More people were really wondering if this was real or just simply a big hoax.

Then the songs really started to circulate and a burned copy of some songs landed in my ears and I was astonished. It really sounded like a very polished, major label hip-hop record complete with huge beats and obscenities. For the novelty value alone this complete full length really can bring a chuckle knowing where this is all coming from. The sheer amount of ingenuity and talent to come up with something like this is just staggering.

Hip-hop may tickle people in different places as most of the punk community is divided on that particular style of music, but regardless of where you stand, this is worth a listen or two for the sheer comic value alone.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Hip-Hop, Extreme Talent from Josh Eppard.......2005-04-17

This CD is amazing, Josh Eppard, the drummer from Coheed and Cambria does everything on this record, he plays all insturments, writes all rhymes, he has an increadilbe amount of talent, this is a must for anyone who wants to hear a solid hip-hop record. One of the best of the year.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2005-04-04

I first heard this a few months ago, way before the release. I heard the pre-release. There was an extra track on it that was really nice, and I'm not exactly sure why they left it off. Probably because it included the lyric "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired" from a Nappy Roots song. Anyway:

This is the best rap/hip-hop album I've ever heard. Josh has extreme talent, both as a drummer and as a rapper. The beats and rhymes are top-notch, and I recommend this to ANYONE who remotely likes any genre associated with this album.

I can't wait for these guys to tour in May. This stuff has been in my CD player constantly since I got it. And I don't even normally like hip-hop.

5 out of 5 stars This is the sh*t!!! 5/5.......2005-03-24

When I read that this band was a side-project from the Coheed & cambria's drummer Joshua Eppard, I thought nothing about it. [...] I couldn't wait to listen to the rest of their CD. Now that I listened to the entire album several times, I can assure you that this is one of the best hip-hop album I have heard in a long (long) time.
If you listen to their lyrics, you cannot deny that these guys have a great sense of humor. [...] it's really worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Don't Front... Ya Know I Got Cha Opin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-05-13

Usually remix/b-side joints are okay at best. This one blew it out the box. This album was released shortly after Black Moon broke up and Smif-n-Wessun left Nervous Records. At the time of the release, the BCC fans gave the disc a thumbs down. Now that the dust has settled, this one's been looked at as a great companion to "Enta Da Stage." This is a great collection of B-sides and remixes, including the remix of "I Got Cha Opin" and "Buck 'Em Down."

My only beef and the reason I didn't buy it when it first came out 10 years ago... "Reality (Killin' Every Ni@@a)" was not on the LP. If that song was on there, this LP would be even crazier, but nonetheless IT'S STILL SOLID!!!

Grab ya' Tims and ya' hoodies and remember what "representing" was really about!

5 out of 5 stars Dug in dah Vaults and struck gold.......2006-01-03

Black Moon unfortunately never experienced fame and fortune like many "sellout" mainstream artists do nowadays, but real hip hop fans have always loved and respected what they brought to the table. Diggin' in dah Vaults is a collaboration of Black Moon's greatest hits...many of the songs are either from their debut album "Enta Da Stage", the album's remixes or B-sides to their successful singles. The CD insert also provides a timeline of Black Moon's rise(a nice addition). This compilation is not intended for rookies of the Black Moon experience and those without an appreciation for real hip hop and not the typical braggadocio rap. Real hip hop heads will appreciate this album from one of the greatest trios to set foot in hip hop.

4 out of 5 stars 4.5 Stars.......2005-12-16

BCC Classic! if u love Buckshot and Smiff n Wessun you will love this! This album will make you get on a plane, terrorist and all and go up to Brooklyn and find him, this is hot, Black Moon is hot, and the whole BCC is hot!

5 out of 5 stars A true classic.......2005-09-11

This is a 5 mic cd a true classic from one the the real legends of underground hip hop.

5 out of 5 stars Bullseye, direct hit, don't miss.......2004-08-22

While most artists have remixes that are either complete garbage or beats ripped off of earlier classics, Black Moon's remixes improved on each cut except for "How Many Emcees" (the remix is tight, but the original can't be beaten). As mentioned before, "Buck 'Em Down" and "I Got Cha Open" are the best ones of the lot. "Buck 'Em Down" adds more elements of Donald Byrd's "Wind Parade" to the beat and Buckshot relaxes his flow and melts into the track. One of my favorite slept-on tracks here is "Murder MC's" which was a B-side for "Buck 'em Down" (or "I Got Cha Open"... I can't remember which). If you're a Black Moon fan or just a fan of that era of Hip-Hop, this is a must-buy.

This disc was on point. The only thing that made me hate this album is the MC in the background. He was like a sharp pain in your ear everytime you nodded your head. Other than him Mister Cee blended the joints nicely. The song list was tight and NERVOUS perfection.

3 out of 5 stars For Jazz Lovers.......2001-09-16

For those people who enjoy some laid back jazz for relaxing or working, this album is perfect for you. When I need some smooth rhythmic sounds to relax me after a hard day I pop on this album and ease myself to comfort. Or if I need something to keep me going while doing work, I can put this album on to keep me motivated and calm. Good album for these purposes.

Poc, Moc, and Chip Fu of Fu-Schnickens are three young Brooklyn men who spent their childhood watching way too much television. Their raps riff on karate flicks, monster movies, Batman, Bugs Bunny, sitcoms, and cereal commercials--in other words, they spout the common mythology of Americans 29 and under. For those in that demographic, Fu's raps clear a trail into the dark recesses of memory lane. For those who don't get it, though, the trio's second album, Nervous Breakdown, is much more than a catalog of the collective Gen-X unconscious. On the record we hear three distinct personalities, all lightning-paced rappers with tremendous control of their voices. First comes Poc, the smooth and graceful one; last is Moc, a hard and solid rhymer. And with the mad flow in between is Chip, who percolates and wheezes like a highly caffeinated coffeepot, hiccups and coughs like a drunk with a chest cold, and all the while busts lyrics as furiously nonstop and involuntarily as a sprinter gasping for breath. He's an original, hear-it-to-believe-it rapper, and never anything less than hilarious fun. Nervous Breakdown, running less than 44 minutes and with only nine new tunes (plus a remix of "What's Up Doc?" featuring Shaquille O'Neal), is an unfortunately slim workout. It is, though, a potent taste of how hip-hop continues to stretch when rappers flex bigger muscles. --Roni Sarig

4 out of 5 stars Fu Schnickens second album.......2006-01-19

This album came out in 1994, at the time when albums were a hit or miss, and if it were a miss you were finished (unfortunately). Classic albums like Illmatic and Ready To Die were starting a new era of hip hop and rap.

Now the Fu-Schnickens sophomroe album "Nervous Breakdown" proves to me that rap was at a fun age back in the early 90's, when people just rapped about anything. (Anything meaning what you do in life, where you hang out, etc. I don't mean cars and money, you get the point...) The first song "Breakdown" starts it of as a rhymathic flow, that any listener can just move along to. Kind of reminds me of a time when I was a kid watching "Wheel Of Fortune" when Moc Fu makes the reference to Vanna White, "...and on more screens than Vanna White..." Chip Fu is an extremely fast type of rapper that somewhat reminds me of Twista (keep in mind this is the frist time I've heard this CD, so their style is new to me), but it amazes me when he immitates characters from cartoons on songs like "Sum Da Monkey" and "Sneakin Up On Ya". It may sound kind of stupid if you didn't spend hours everyday watching TV. His brother Poc Fu comes at you with a deep and somewhat scratchy voice, that proves to be useful on songs like "Visons 20/20" (even tough Chip stole the show on this one)and "Breakdown". Another great song that worked out was "Hi-Lo" which experements with a xylophone beat, with the trio talks about their expreiences with a few girls. 2 remix songs appear on this, "Whats Up Doc [Funkadelic Remix] which features basketball star Shaquelle O'neal (some of you all forget he actuly made a few CD's), and the other, Breakdown [remix] which is not as good as the first but still nice in a way.

Overall, a nice album by this trio, and will bring back memories of the days you watched televison when you were a child. Unfortunately, this album came out at a bad time, when music was changing, and rapping about cartoons just was getting kind of old to some people. It's not that this album was bad, it was that listeners were just moving on to other albums that gained more attention. But I recommend this to anyone who is able to find this album.

5 out of 5 stars DOPE.......2004-11-25

It's hard to make a greatest hits for a crew with only two albums, but they pulled it off.
For starters the new songs are great. The dancehall reggae like "Original Rudeboy" being the best.We also have "Voice of The Ghetto" produced by the genius Salaam Remi."Bring it back" which is a great album closer.
In addition you have "Cray-Z" which is from a soundtrack and doesn't appear on any albums.Which is definately one the Schnicks best tracks.
You have the single version of the hit "What's up Doc" featuring B ball star Shaquille O'Neal.Which is better than the remix that appeared on the "Nervous Breakdown" LP. The song is produced by K-cut of Maestro Fresh Wes and Main Source fame.
These 5 non album cuts make this worth a purchase even if you have the first 2 Lps.Speaking of those albums though, both are well presented."Fu Don't Take it Personal" is showcased
With Highlights like "True Fuschnick" "Ring The Alarm","Heavenly Father" and "La Schmoove" demonstrating that it was definatly a solid release, I wish they would have included "Movie Scene" for Moc Fu's hilarious backwards rapping, but it's no big loss as anyone impressed with this collection will seek out the albums anyways.
The shorter, and slightly worse follow up "Nervous Breakdown" shows up here alot too."Breakdown" is by far it's best song,"Sum Dumb Munky" is a solid offering BUT VISIONZ 20/20 is totally wack and should not be on this compilation.
But one rotten apple doesn't spoil the rest of the barrel here and this remains an essential purchase for anyone interested in early to mid 90's hiphop.

5 out of 5 stars F U.......2002-12-20

a great album where they flow crazy over some nice beats, the formula for a great album, its short but still great for any hip hop fan

4 out of 5 stars Fa Sho!.......2002-01-10

This album is da bomb! Even though I haven't heard all of the tracks, the ones I have heard are just pure fresh! These guys are just off their heads! They rhyme about every thing they have seen on tv."Whats up Doc!(can we roc!)this track is phat, the beat and the solo artists really pull out the stocks. The track on this album is feat Shaq, and even though hes great a basket ball he ain't that good a rappin. So over all if your not even a rap hip-hop fan just give it a try.If you don't your missin out!
