Customer Reviews:
The ultimate blues and boogie band!.......2006-10-27
Kim Simmonds has been Savoy Brown for doggone near 40 years now (Shakedown came out in 1967). Every incarnation of the band has had Simmonds on guitar. Early formation saw part of the band (Dave Peverett, Roger Earl, and Tone Stevens) split to form FOGHAT.
Just like there's no mistaking Simmonds' guitar, the same can be said for Chris Youlden's voice. And this two LP combo on one CD gives you a few of Savoy's best tracks.
First, I think 'Tell Mama' is one of my all-time favorite songs PERIOD! Here it is from the Street Corner Talking release. 'Let It Rock' is another goodie. 'Can't Get Next To You' is a Motown ditty that's been redone a time or two by different folks. I think Rare Earth did a great job on it, but Savoy Brown does a darned fine job, as well.
'Troubled By These Days And Times' and 'If I Could See n End'... Hmmm. Prophetic titles, eh? (Hockey term)
'Wang Dang Doodle' is spectazmagoric! I made that up, but I think you get the idea.
But to round out the whole thing is the epic tale of the 'Hellbound Train.'
"I'm goin down the road on the hellbound train. Take a last look baby 'cause you won't see me again."
What to expect? Very good guitar. Unique vocals. What I classify as psychedelic blues. Extended jams to showcase Simmonds talent.
What not to expect? Mainstream, Clapton/King blues. Foghat-esque boogie. Two or three minute songs. Can't tell a good story in that length of time!
When you get tired of hearing the various 'new' bands who sound the same vocally or sound the same as far as guitar is concerned, etc., just grab any of the early Savoy Brown albums - this pair is a great place to start!

Album Description
When Tim Armstrong (Rancid) first heard the classic, low-slung punk of The Heart Attacks, he fell in love. With a sound that nods back to the Dead Boys and the New York Dolls, this band has inspired the same reaction at sweaty shows from Boston to Florida, at Warped Tour dates in 2005 and 2006, and from their many fans in hometown Atlanta. On this release, longtime fan Joan Jett added her trademark growl to the punked-out doo-wop of "Tear-Stained Letter". Produced by Lars Frederiksen (Rancid) and engineered by Michael Rosen (Green Day).
Customer Reviews:
This IS Rock & Roll!.......2007-02-09
This is probably the best release of 2006. These guys play stripped down, straight up Rock & Roll in the likes of the Heartbreakers, Dead Boys, and a touch of Hanoi Rocks. Who said glam punk was dead? Punk rock has become too watered down and distorted in the last 10 years, but these boys go back to it's roots. I just saw them live amongst an unappreciative crowd, but they still played L.A.M.F.!! Go get this album!!!
For all you Thunders fans..........2006-12-18
...this one is for you. The type of music here is very rock n roll type punk, in the vein of Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. The songs are varied enough to keep the entire album from feeling too monotonous. Joan Jett even sings a duet on the album. I can't believe nobody has reviewed this album yet. You got tons of attitude, swagger, and the musical chops to back it up.

A bad ending to good music.......2007-07-08
I bought this new in shrink wrap on July 7, 2007, thinking by now they had fixed the ending to Hellbound Train. Nope. It still fades out. The CD I bought had "Deram" in a red box on the front graphic in the upper right corner with 844 019-2 under it. It was nice to hear the rest of his fine album after so many years, but I'm returning it. I refuse to pay money for a truncated version of this album.
Still strong after all these years.......2006-07-23
There's something special about this album (I bought the vinyl when this first came out), and I return to it all these years later. I would have given it three stars at the time, but now I like it even more. What I like about this version of Savoy Brown is the emphasis on songs for side one, fat keyboards and a demphasis on guitar solos. I know some SB fans like the blues stuff of earlier days, like the first review above. But I find the Hellbount Train constantly ingriguing. --ECAlert
Savoy Brow, Hellbound Train.......2006-03-22
I would recommend this album for all Savoy Brown fans. It is not quite as good as Raw Sienna, but that was Savoy Browns greatest album in my humble opinion.
Fade into dissapointment.......2005-07-17
I bought this CD to replace my vinyl copy because I love the music but when the last song (Hellbound Train) was re-edited into a cop out fade out ending which shortened the song by almost 2 minutes I was dissapointed. Whoever did this did't get what it was all about. Aside from this, it is a good album but not as good as the original. I wish they would have faithfully reproduced this album.
HELLBOUND HEAVEN!!!!!!.......2005-01-12
One of the better listening albums of all time. To me, the easier the sound, the better. And it doesn't get much better than this. Kim Simmonds was once compared to Clapton. Not a fair comparison at all. Apples and oranges. No one does it like Clapton but Kim has a style that fits this band to a tee, especially this album. Without him, there's no Savoy. So pop in the disc and ENJOY!!!!

Customer Reviews:
The upwards trajectory begins.......2006-05-17
After garnering some attention with their first album - a Mausoleum release, the band moved onto Phonogram and put out their second disc.
Now it should be mentioned that back in the lazy, crazy days of the mid 80s a band was not necessarily expected to make or break on their first album. In fact often it was the third release that was considered utterly pivotal, particularly with many European bands.
So bearing that in mind it comes as no surprise that Hellbound was an improvement over Burning the Witches yet not as fully realised musically as True As Steel.
It should be pointed out that I've given Burning the Witches two stars and the same with this one, but in reality this would be about 2.5 stars.
The production is a touch better and some of the tunes are a little more mature. Once again we find Doro Pesch giving it her all and her voice is coming along nicely. All the gigging must of paid off as the band sound tight and there is a little more space in the tracks allowing some of them to breath, check out the slightly slower pace for chungs of Earthshaker Rock, the band opting for a full bodied sound but not cramming notes and riffs into every little space.
Obviously though, this is still quite formative. Many of the tracks don't grab the listener. And while it has nothing to do with the music, the cod piece Doro appears to be wearing on the back cover photograph (I kid you not) is somewhat ludicrous.
But hey, if you've checked out Triumph and Agony and True As Steel and are hungry for more - and you should be after hearing those albums - then strap this on. The title track is excellent stuff, Earthshaker Rock is anthemic and Out of Control sounds exactly that.
classic power metal.......2006-05-06
I'm giving this disc five stars because I think the overall rating needs to be brought up a bit. This was always my favorite Warlock album. If you are a first timer, imagine Accept with a female vocalist and you may get an idea of what we're talking about.
Warlock's weakest album.......2001-12-13
That I usually associate this album as the filler in between Burning the Witches and True as Steel underscores its limited appeal. Altogether, it is an inferior continuation of the first album, crispier in production (which is common with most band's second album) but still weakened by the general song uniformity. Earthsaker Rock and the title cut are decent songs, but the second side is largely forgettable. Overall, the album's most memorable element is that some songs feature a lengthy solo (or more accurately two, as there are two guitarists) after the second chorus with no vocal following.
They Got Better As They Went Along.......2001-06-04
Actually, 2.5 stars. This album is a vast improvement over the first. It holds up a bit better too, but not by much. It suffers a lot less than the first from the cliched silliness of 'Eavy Me'al at the time. "Time To Die" and "Down And Out" were so bad then, and still are now, that they must have been just leftovers from the fist album. Cliched and unimaginative even by the standards of the day. I wince at these two in particular. Cheese with much mold on it. Now that the worst has been said, on to the best...
"Wrathchild" is easily the best rocker of the album, lyrically, musically, and vocally. A culturally observant song, something said imaginatively. Song about a rebel-without-a-clue kind of person. Typical topic for all rock of course, but made in a distinctly Doro / Warlock way. The band was definitely in development sound-wise. "Catch My Heart" is a great ballad-like song, even for the early days. Very emotionally sung. Don't think Doro / Warlock has ever done a ballad I didn't like anyway. "Out Of Control" is another strong track that is simpler, but hard not like as it rocks along at a good clip. "Shout It Out" sounds really confined as a studio track. I just think it's one those songs that one goes, "Ehh, not bad. May be better Live."
The rest of the songs I think you can take or leave depending on your mood, or how busy you are as the music is playing in the background. The rest of the tracks, while not so awful, just aren't as captivating.
Strongly suggest True As Steel and Triumph And Agony. Both are a bit different in atmosphere from each other, but equally good in their own ways. Doro's new solo album is Calling The Wild, which covers White Wedding, has Lemmy from Motorhead on a couple tracks, and some solo by Slash formerly from Guns'N'Roses.

Christopher Young should be put in the ranks with all the other great film soundtrack composers. Buy this cd to play on halloween or just to creep your friends out or just be amazed by the way the music is beautifully composed. Move over Danny Elfman and let Chrisopher Young through!!!!
Music to raise Hell by..........2001-08-29
Brilliant soundtrack! It was a mix of the first film and the sequel in one, which is cool, however I didn't particularly like the 'Highpoint' part of the CD, it broke the atmosphere that the Hellbound tunes had created, it just seemed pointless as Highpoint was far too nice music compared with that of the dark, brooding Hellraiser. Oh well.
Same Here.......2001-07-31
I found this score the same place I found the soundtrack for Hellraiser Bloodline(which I'm surprised I have)Once again this score is fantastic, but again where is the Academy?well atleast Young was awarded the award for Best Score by the Academy of science fiction fantasy and horror films. This score surpasses the original.Music is a big part of the Hellraiser films all the scores except for part 5,help make the film more sucsessful and deeper and darker.Though the score for Hellraiser 5 is the smallest score the only one without a soundtrack, the weakest,it is a score for a Hellraiser film none the less so I have some sort of respect for it.You simply have to but it.
stunning music I've never tired of hearing!!!!.......2001-03-14
This is perhaps the most grandiose and elegant, yet dark and unsettling music I've ever heard. Without even seeing the movie people can easily grow to love this! To me, almost Lovecraftian in atmosphere, you can listen to this entire score of music and still keep the mood with you long after you're turned off your player!

Album Description
DEMIRICOUS "ONE" will change the Metal landscape as we know it. "ONE" was recorded and mixed at Planet-Z studios with Zeuss (Hatebreed, The Red Chord, Shadows Fall) in June 2005. "We are just trying to write a solid thrash album that we hope will contribute something different to today's metal scene with the vocals and everything. I don't know what direction we are going in but not a whole lot of bands are going this direction. We just play the music that we want to hear. Plain and simple
this is what I want to hear....so I guess we have to make it ourselves," states the band. Guitarist Scott Wilson comments, "I'm old school and I miss the rage
and the hooks, and the solos," and "ONE" delivers all the rage, hooks, and solos metal heads have been waiting for.
Customer Reviews:
one hell of a metal band.......2007-03-21
A band that needs to be recognized more. Their music in my opinion sounds like old school Slayer. The singer yells all the time without any singing. Fans of Slayer check it out.
Heavy, Brutal, Nonstop Thrash.......2007-01-13
I bought this album last year, and I have gotta say, I was impressed with what I heard. I mean this is true heavy, brutal, nonstop in your face thrash metal. Demiricous definately have a big time future ahead of them, and there's no doubt we'll be hearing more from these guys in the near future. Their debut album "One (Hellbound)" is just packed with angry thrashing riffs, blazing solos, vicious double bass drumming, I mean this album has everything. The band's sound on here is no doubt heavily influenced by Slayer. The opening track "Repentagram" is very reminiscent of Slayer's classic "Angel Of Death" off "Reign In Blood". This song is just brutal, fast, and thrashing throughout. In fact every song on here in a classic. "Vagrant Idol", "Beyond Obscene", "Withdrawl Divine", "Matador", "To Serve is to Destroy", and the vicious closer "Hellraisers" which is a personal favorite of mine are all classics in my book. On this album, you got brutal vocals from Nate Olp who also has brutal solid bass lines, wild blazing guitar solos from lead shredder Ben Parrish, fast, tight rhythm guitarwork from Scott Wilson, and fast in your face double bass drumming courtesy of Chris Cruz. Bottom Line: If you're a fan of Slayer, thrash metal, metal, or just good music in general, Demiricous will definately be your cup of tea. Buy this album now!!

4.3 Like Slayer?.......2007-01-03
Good stuff! great thrash record! when it starts, you will think you are listening to Slayer.. Though the Vocalist sounds nothing like Tom A. Just good to hear good old fashioned Thrash again. After a few listens it will absorb into your mind... Good new band. Hope the next cd will be just as good!
The fastest thing in Indy........2006-12-19
This has got to be the most underrated band in metal today. I am really surprised this band hasn't caught on more than they have. I am a longtime Slayer fan, and this band reminds me of the good old days of Slayer. They are obviously heavily influenced by Slayer a la Reign in Blood and Season in the Abyss days. Don't take my word for it how awesome these guys are. Kerry King said this is one of his favorite new bands. You gotta pay attention to these guys if Kerry says they are awesome!
solid debut.......2006-12-16
I give the debut album from Demiricous 4 stars. It's heavy, brutal, and non-stop thrash. My only complaint is that I wish there was more variety and memorable parts in these songs. However through and through this is a solid debut. Demiricous alongside with Watch Them Die are 2 of some of the newer bands that are leading the thrash resurgence.

A good supplement to the 1st album.......2007-07-11
I have been a Living End fan since the very first time i heard "Prisoner of Society" back in '98. I have all of their albums, and while i think they're great albums, i can't help but feel that they've become somewhat commercialized, and can't really relate to what Cheney sings about on "State of Emergency" like i could on their first album. Well, "It's For Your Own Good" is pretty much like 6 butt-kicking B-Sides to the first album, or at least that's what it sounds like. And "Hellbound" is a fun little glimpse into what this amazing band was like when they were just starting out. Overall, it's always good to remember what big bands used to sing about before they were big, and this double disk is pretty much just that.
I have this on 2 seperate CDs Hmm........2005-05-18
The living end have been amongst the aussie rock scene for ten years now and have yet to dissapoint. This cd (or in my case 2 different Eps)were just the beginning for these guys,It doesnt have the same borderline commercial edge the later stuff does but thats not what matters. What matters are that these guys have Talent and a lot of it,Alot of bands these days get success with 3 chords mediocre songwriting and awful lyrics,This band have far surpassed all that. Here we have 12 (or 6 depending on which Format you picked them up)tracks. The first disc in my view is alot better especially the instrumental track hellbound which shows the band at thier most creative.I was even pleasantly surprised to see a Cure Cover (10:15 saturday night)amongst them.If you are looking for 3 chord pop with songs about ex girlfriends and skateboards avoid this band,They are far beyond that. They are 3 brilliant musicians making great pyscho/punk/rockabilly style music.Hell even elvis fans would probably enjoy it.
No Comparison!.......2003-03-20
All I have to say is that I fisrt heard The Living End about four years ago and they are still my favorte band today. As a seasoned music lover, I have to admite these guys really know what music is all about. not only are they incredibly musically talented, but they also have the uncanny ability to NOT sound like everyone else. Like oh migod! thats the greatest part. Mainstream music is built to find a sound that people react to and make everyone else sound just like it so they make more money. the tight thing about these punks is they are more talented than any of the pop junk thats out there now and they have such a distinct sound, a quality of music that has been sadly missed for a few decades. These guys deserve more props than they have, Joe Strummer sould be proud!
These Aussies know where it's at........2001-11-09
Powerful Lyrics! Great Music! True Talent, these guys are awesome! Personal Fav: Headlines. Punk? I don't know, more like pure Rock, they have a sound that is unlike most today. They are great live. Roll On and The Living End, show how much they have developed as artists (the drummer was a diff guy on Hellbound). Poetry put to music.
Comparing them to Green Day, is a waste of time. The Living End is in a class all their own.
Living end is great.......2001-11-04
Anybody who compares these guys to green day or offspring should be (...). There is not a band I have heard that even compares to the living end. This album shows how diverse a rock band can be. From the Stray cats to The Clash to The Police and adding their own special ingredient mixing it all into a blender. It's all amazing I just wish they would have stuck with this style. Instead of simplifing there sound. Anyway they were on hbo's reverb not too long ago they were great.
