Real G-Funk from Dub N Crazy Tunes.......2007-04-25

4 Years after Maad Circle dropped the classic 1991 joint Ain't A D--n Thang Changed, an album that is way outta print and something I have the misfortune of not owning, WC and Crazy Tunes drop another classic, 1995's Curb Servin.' Full of Parliament and other funk samples, the beats are the truest forms of G-Funk. Many of the samples are flipped into beats sounding as if they had come out in the 70's and 80's like the originals! So the album has an old school feel even for 1995. WC is the primary force behind the mic, and Crazy Tunes handles most of the production along with a little help from Ice Cube, Madness 4 Real, Dr. Jam, and Rhythm D (his joint is awesome). WC kills each track with top-notch flows and his humorous delivery. He, Mack 10, and Cube represent for the left coast on the perennial classic "West Up!" over a George Duke "Reach For It" sample. "The Creator" is awesome, Rhythm D laces a sweet laidback beat and Maad Circle gives it up for the Man Upstairs. "Taking Ova" is a bouncy faster lowrider track. "Put On Tha Set" is hilarious. The beat is bangin' and the lyrics explore Dub's entrapment in a television set; the way he objectifies Hillary from Fresh Prince will leave you on the floor bustin up!!! "Curb Servin'" is hot. It is a perfect rider anthem over a Tom Tom Club "Genuis Of Love" sample, amped up for the Cutlass or drop top 6 Fo. "Wet Dream" has a nice laidback funky beat, but the lyrics are enjoyably odd. He talks about his thang rising and busting during a dream about brothas banding together and dropping their gang problems and getting violent revenge on politicians and people who oppressed brothas. Interesting way to flip heated political lyrics. "Feel Me" is perfect to get your boogie on with a melodic, a nice house party jam. This album is interesting with nice funk to blast in the ride.

AMAZING AND THE BEST! TIGHT!.......2004-10-07

I have recently re-discovered the great talents of WC. I went out and bought everything; even all the recent Westside Connection CD's. Know what? CURB SERVIN' IS STILL THE BANGIN' BEST OF THE WEST!! I am absolutely FLOORED by the perfection of the beats, the flow of the lyrics, WC's great strong voice, the backup music; it's great and varied sounds and ORIGINALITY; ain't nowhere else you'll hear or feel beats this tight. To this day THIS IS THE BEST OF THE WC; I do enjoy the newer sounds from WC and his crew, but CURB SERVIN IS THE BEST even now. Man!! This is EXCELLENT hip hop in all its forms, not just for the gangstas but for rap fans of every style. DAMN good. DAMN excellent!

A must have album.........2002-02-24

I got this CD when it first came out and I knew nothing about WC. Needless to say I learned much about this hustla with a pen a gold. This album took me into his world and I got to ride shotgun on one helluva trip. This CD is like the dopest movie put on disc. The beats don't stop and some guest shots add some solid licks to this hip-hop mind bend. STILL one of my favorites today!

love this wc came back harder on this one goes into the dark side of ghetto life, sounds like the son of maggot brain, on west up has dub, ice cube, and mack 10 repping the west coast, the one has wc talking how bad he is lyrically dub throws down,a crazy break2 love the zapp sample keep the funk coming, on the set has wc thinking he's on tv- talikin bout hilary from fresh prince and how he winded up on good times with jj on a double date, in a twist has dub and coolio hijacking a bus full of senior citizens, homesickl tells bnout hoodlife, feel me dub goes off , curb servin dub goes off again, wet dream talks about the bloods and crips uniting to kill colin powell, and the president, kill a habit has dub talking about his crackhead brother, the creator dub gives it up to god on this one a classic.

Curb Servin.......2004-11-13

This is definetly a must have for any fan of Zion I, or any Bay Area Hip Hop artists... This is mainly based off appearences from other bay rappers (Frontline, Duece, etc.) but it also features a few heavy hitters in hip hop (DUST, Planet Asia)...
Best track on this CD by far is Came 2 Bust... Locksmith from Frontline is the perfect compliment to Amp Live's style on this track. All in all, worth the buy if you like Zion I... DVD is short, but cool. You get a basis of where Zion I came from, and what they want to do.

the best way to describe this album is honestly what the reviews i have read on other sites have said "desert after the full course meal that was deepwaterslang 2.0.....this as the title indicates is more a mixtape than an album but is still a must have for all fans of true hip hop the highlights on the album to me were the title track Curb Servin which featured all 3 MC's (Zion, D.U.S.T., and Deuce Eclipse for the uninformed) the beat was beautiful your head will nod to this one, and my 2nd favorite was Alli Memeti which was just Deuce by himself and he held it down nicely. Basically what it amounts too is this is great for keeping Zion I fans such as myself satisfied till the next full length album comes out and is also a great introduction to D.U.S.T., and Deuce Eclipse...But lets not forget about the DVD it was great especially the curb servin documentary it shows you 1st of all these cats are real, and secondlly that they really believe in what they do my only problem with it was that all the live perfomance clips were of them doing fingerpaint now i love that song but i was hoping to see flow, boom bip, or even one of the songs from chapter 4 or starship but hey its all to the good this overall was a more than worthwhile purchase and gets a 4 star rating only because as great as this is Mind over matter and Deepwaterslang 2.0 are even better
