First off, this cd has some of my favorite classical songs on it. The songs themselves are great, and many are instantly recognizable for all those who didn't know their names.

The recording quality of this cd isn't great. For most people with average ears and average hardware, that won't make a difference. For the extermely intent listeners, the recording quality isn't great, and, while I would recommend any of the music on here to anyone, I just wouldn't reccomend this particular cd to those who high-powered hardware and are picky.

Perfect for getting acquainted to classical music for the first time! All the best pieces on one cd which makes it a stand-out selection in anyone's collection. Once you've heard this one, you will want more and the RCA Victor classical music series is highly recommended and affordable. For the die-hard classical fan, this is the perfect one to take along with you in the car or the office.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Compilation of the Man on 2 Discs! Great Sound Quality Too!.......2006-04-21

The title very aptly describes this great classical guitar album showcasing some of the best ever works of John Williams on 2 discs. The track selections are great as they span the centuries from the Baroque greats of Bach and Vivaldi to the modern day composers such as Stanley Myers and York. John even flirts with Blues and Jazz-style pieces and they actually sound very good. In addition, they did a much better mastering job on this version than on the single disc, "Classic John Williams" album that was released a few years earlier and so the sound quality is much better. John Williams' playing is without peer and his technique is superior to the vast majority of the exponents of classical guitar that are out there. I've heard recordings of many others who have tried to play "Cavatina" for example and they have never come close to the natural and flowing version that John plays. If you are a fan of this type of music or of John Williams' work, this is the best compilation that you can get that's out there. Highly recommended!

The first song on this set is why I bought the whole album. It blows you away listening to the precise picking and the gorgeous way it is done. Not robotic like some freaks out there. This is true beautiful music. Runs together like a long summer drive in the country. It is just a perfect album to listen to at home or on the go.

First, this is gorgeous guitar playing by someone who knows what he's doing. John Williams (not to be confused by the film score composer of the same name) is a superb classical guitarist. Many of these pieces are *classical* in nature, while a few are more *popular*. Many are solo, the rest in small chamber groups. Some will get your toes tapping, some will start you daydreaming, and some will make you cry with their beauty. All of it is magnificent.

The Comedian Harmonists were a German a capella group who specialised in mimicking instruments with their voices, and did so with such grace and style in the thirties that their cover verions rivalled the originals...at least in their home market. Because most of them were Jewish, they fled to the USA, where five of them provided the voices to the Seven Dwarfs in Disney's "Snow White"...the remaining two refused to leave (or returned to) Germany where they met the inevitable fate. The Kings Singers recorded this tribute in the seventies (I think) and apparently had the remaining mebers of the group in tears when they heard it. If you've ever heard the Harmonists in their original lo-fi version, this is a must in hi-fi. Their version of Tea for Two is impeccable, and the Wochenend und Sonnenschein is a gem. Get it if you're a fan of the original.

I know nothing of the Comedian Hamonists other than what's written in the album notes. They must have been quite an outfit. The King's Singers here are tight and well directed. The Flight of the Bumble Bee is a hoot. Night and Day never sounded so lovely and although I do not speak German, I found the German language numbers interesting to listen to.

This is a great album, perfect for entertaining on a warm summers night, you can almost feel the balmy air on tracks like Caravan, which is exquisite! Kat Parra is obviously a very accomplished singer who feels at home with ballads or up tempo numbers. Her voice is always relaxed and you feel like she's singing the songs to you for the first time. Give it a listen!

Kat Parra's new CD is a marvelous blend of Latin Jazz, Sephardic music and Ballads. Her voice is a fine tuned instrument and the musicians accompanying her are some of the finest on the Bay Area Latin scene. I cannot wait to hear more from this rising star! Also catch her son, Patrick rapping with mom!!

Kat's voice is so beautifully soothing, and I love how she fluidly moves from English to Spanish to Portuguese throughout the variety of songs. She is truly an international soul. Mais Que Nada is especially upbeat and many of the other songs are soulful and calming, leaving you with a nice mixture of material good for any activity from driving to lounging around the house. If you get a chance to see her perform, she is a magnetic and fiery international woman you don't want to miss!

    This exciting collection is parimarily of Russian folk songs, though there are some actual compositions by Russian composers, such as Glinka and Rimsky-Korsakov. In listening to these beautiful recordings, if you can think past the regime, which the Red Army represented, and concentrate upon the artistic performances which the individuals and the group present, you should have no difficulty enjoying the fine quality present on this CD.

    The little bit of this CD that I heard sounded just like I expected it to . . . sung with feeling and passion. The red army chorus has been singing for over 50 years and are as good a chorus as you will find anywhere. It was a pleasure to hear songs that I remember from my youth.

    This CD will amaze you from the very first lines of the opening piece, and the high standard of quality remains consistent througout. The vibrancy of the singing and production make it as close as you can possibly get to a live performance, with the advantage that you can play it again. (And this recording stands up to MANY repeat playings!) However, do hear The Concord Ensemble live if possible, because they are simply the best around at what they do.

    The Victory of Santiago showcases a fine variety of sacred and secular works from the Spanish Renaissance. The ensemble's masterly interpretations of these works are always intelligent and musical, with exquisite attention paid to the nuances of text and polyphonic interaction of vocal lines. This is no pedantic, white-toned presentation of antiquated music, however. The singing sparkles with life and freshness, and the voices retain their individual beauty while simultaneously blending into a cohesive ensemble sound. The Concord Ensemble's rhythmic precision, intonation, and fluid legato are unsurpassed by any group I have heard.

    The impeccable performances, excellent programming, and sumptuous recording quality make The Victory of Santiago a must for any lover of early music and/or brilliant ensemble singing.

    I had the great good fortune to hear this brilliant new (4 years old) men's a cappella ensemble perform, in a live concert, the very program featured on this disc. While the recording cannot possibly recreate the excitement of the live performance, the CD nonetheless provides an unforgettable musical experience. Their flawless command of pitch and their seemingly effortless support left me breathless. Chanticleer, eat your heart out! This is everything early music singing should be. Buy this CD, and their next one as soon as it is released, and do NOT pass up the opportunity to hear them live if you ever get the chance!

      I live in Tacoma, WA (about a hour from Seattle). One night I was listening to a local radio station called kube93. As I was Chating online i heard one of his songs called I wanna know. At first i paied no attention but as i heard the words i really started to like it and listened.The next night it came on agian and i listened closly to the words. I was really enjoying it so i called the radio station to ask what the song was. I still havn't got the cd but i hope to get it soon so i can listen to that song.

      Let's face it, there are cats making music for the art, some for fame, some want it all, Byrdie definitely wants it all and isn't apologizing to anyone. On the first release from N'Flight Productions, Byrdie comes from all angles hitting the listener with slick diverse production choices while the lyrics and concepts displaying signature personality aren't lost on the average listener. The first thing that catches the eye is the high quality artwork and packaging design. It gives an instant "face" to the project before even opening the wrap. Almost every song is like a chapter straight from his life with an underlying honesty that emerges beneath each verse. There's something for everyone on this album from party raps to conscious, battle, romantic, positive styles, the list goes on and on. N'Flight starts off with the Vitamin D produced theme song "B.Y.R.D.I.E." before moving to the party provoking Bean One produced "Who?" and "It's About Time" which slows the tempo to a steady bounce. The tempo is picked back up in a major way with "I Wanna Know" ft. Darrius Willrich which is aimed straight between the ladies eyes (Or legs) and "Scattin", almost a tribute to Cab Calloway in the hook. The album transitions to some more serious subject matter in the form of "Move On" about ending a long relationship and "Ways of the World" ft. Onry Ozzborn dealing with the current state of the government and the Iraq war. "Never Forget" finds Byrdie taking on 2 personas, himself and his best friend who was killed. "Wanted" has Reggie Watts of Maktub singing an R&B hook while Byrdie raps about a long term Junior High/ High School innocent romance. "Fan Favorite" is a Premieresq beat which allows a similie packed battle style to emerge. "All Out" best describes the way Byrdie hits the clubs while "Northwest" is an anthem/posse style cut featuring appearances by Vitamin D, Candidt and Citizen Cane. "Where Were You" is a song inspired by his Mother, aimed at his father about hardships growing up. "What If" is a purely positive bright side of life song while the album is wrapped up by the super slow acoustic guitar ode to sexy women "Heavenly". All the producers involved with this project more than pull their weight on N'Flight setting the bar high for anyone trying to battle the Byrd. On top of all that it has one of the most confident first lines of any album ever that may lead a bit more insight into the mind of Byrdie, "Let the bidding war begin". This is Byrdies invite to come aboard before his flight takes off.
