Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

After the long wait, Mix doesn't disapoint. This album is filled with great production, great lyrics from Mix and his signature sick, rugged flow. This album is near classic and doesn't really have any weak tracks on it. A definite in any rap collection.
One Of The Better Rap CDs.......2006-02-28
Most people think "Baby Got Back" is the best song on this album, but i'm under the inpression it's one of the worst. Most the other songs have great flow, potent lyrics that are either wise or hilarious, and aren't halfway as annoying. I honestly bought this album for the song "Lcokjaw", which is probably my favorite song on the album. But all in all, a great alubm. I beleive it was money well spent.
YEAH....I GOT THIS ONE TOO!!!!.......2005-12-26
More bangin A$$ Tracks from MIX-A-LOT!!! This MACK DADDY definitely deserves more recantation for sure!!! I agree with the other dude....MIX-A-LOT is a true pioneer to the hip-hop game!!
Who can forget the #1 single in 1992- Baby Got Back.......2005-12-11
Back in 1992, Sir Mix-A-Lot topped the Hot 100 Singles chart with Baby Got Back and was on top of the rap singles chart. I never actually saw the video because of the controversy. Then again, the most controversial rap group in the 90s was without 2 Live Crew and the N.W.A. Now in 2005, it's hard to find a controversial rap artist unless you count Eminem. I'm sure he generated controversy for Stan.
Anyway, this one of the best rap albums from the 90s and I'm glad that I have original version. It's just too bad that I didn't get the cd.
An awesome album with two successful singles.
A two-hit wonder that deserved more recognition.
Awesome cd.......2004-01-25

The art of S-MAL.......2007-08-04
Sir Mix-A-Lot's 1992 album was a strong achievement for both music with an attitude and also the ability to pull rap style away from street grunt cop killing fanaticism and back into the front yard of fun. Lot's own biggest hit off this very record was "Baby got back" and who would have thought a song about that would have become such a cult classic. SMAL has the energy and wordsmith talent to hang with the best of them and this album is still a pinnacle in his career.
Mack Daddy.......2003-10-22
This mabey be an oldie but there is no denying that sir mix alot has style phat beats and grove and the famous big but song is hillarious you would have to buy it to know
Mix is Mack!.......1998-05-14
The perfect CD to put on when a mack got to smoove it out with his shorties. Pour the wine, light the candles, and rev up your Testarossa baby, cuz Mix ain't stoppin' 'til them boots is knockin'! See y'all at the SeaTac Mall! Peace.
The finest achievment of western civilization........1997-08-27
Mack Daddy represents the pinacle of rap as an art form. This fine disk includes the greatest song of all time "Baby Got Back". No household is complete without this aural masterpiece! END

Not really a true Fat Boys album........2004-03-24
"Mack Daddy": Fat Boys' worst -- and final -- album. If you define Fat Boys as Darren Robinson, Mark Morales, and Damon Wimbley, then this is arguably not even a genuine Fat Boys, because by this 1991 recording, Mark Morales had (wisely) left the group for a critically-acclaimed if not commercially successful solo career and now is a producer for well-known artists. In fact, the original Fat Boys logo which had followed them for 6 albums was not even used here.
This record displays the worst of what the Fat Boys ultimately let themselves become. Their fatal flaw was trying to keep up with the times, which had become painfully obvious on the previous but still-listenable "On And On" album. While in years past, other rappers had been influenced by their original style, Robinson and Wimbley were now trying to front as gangstas or pimps, which was laughable and embarrassing. The fact that their music was musical, nonviolent, often funny, and completely different than any other type of rap is what made their art strong.
So extreme is this album's contrast from their roots that this is the only Fat Boys album where there is literally NO BEAT-BOXING. Or, at least I didn't hear any the 2 times I forced myself to listen to this record. I am one of the world's biggest Fat Boys fans, owning every one of their albums on Vinyl and CD (those which were printed as CD's), and I have never been more disappointed by a musical release than this one (plus the CD was ridiculously expensive).
"Mack Daddy" is only to be purchased by the hardest-core Fat Boys fan (how many of those are there?), and only to complete a set, as a goodbye. Aside from that, it is a completely irrelevant record, even in terms of themselves.
In early 1995, Darren Robinson, "The Human Beat Box/Buff Love/The Ox That Rocks", was diagnosed with lymphedema, and then died in December of pneumonia during a severe respiroatory flu. Damon Wimbley "Cool Rock Ski" is still trying to convince Mark Morales "Prince Markie Dee" to complete the unfinished Fat Boys reunion album, using Buffy's existing vocals.
Disputed originators of "Beat Boxing", the Fat Boys, originally "The Disco Three", were once so poor they could not afford a drum machine. So instead member Darren Robinson synthesized drum beats with his mouth. Though best-known for comical antics, their best and most under-appreciated material was sober and either very musical or completely a capella. This was in rap's innocent days, before expressions of violence had any place therein.
After winning a music contest, Fat Boys were hooked up with influential producer/rapper Curtis Blow, to whom the group owes much of their success. Those first three albums, one of which are available on CD (there are multiple Best Of CD's available), were all ground-breaking. The following four albums, which were neither produced by Curtis Blow nor labeled by Tin Pan Alley, showed a slow descent into embarrassing imitation vs originality.

Product Description
Following the success of the early 2006 release Slow Ride, The Daddy Mack Blues Band began generating a momentum almost unheard of in blues music. The idea of bridging juke house blues with classic 60s and 70s rock captured the critics attention and talent buyers alike. Without taking a breath, the band went back into their labels Memphis studio, this time to record a stone cold blues CD with Billy Gibson as producer. Steeped in the tradition of earlier Memphis blues bands, The Daddy Mack Blues Band focused on their soulful blues roots, with more than a nod to Stax Records. Recording mostly a new batch of original songs, the band also adeptly covers Booker T. & The M.G.s, Sam Cooke, and a raucous version of Shade Tree Mechanic. To say Mack is Back is an understatement. Daddy Macks fiery, emotional blues guitar playing is likely to turn the heads of the often disappointed critics wading through piles of CDs at Guitar Player magazine. His vocals are equally convincing and the rhythm section of brothers Harold and James Bonner (bass, guitar), drummer William Faulkner and guest musician Charlie Wood on organ and piano creates a dynamic cohesion that would be impossible to find anywhere but Memphis. If these musicians are the living connection to the legendary Fieldstones, what awaits them is the type of recognition that few blues bands ever achieve. Although still keeping busy in his Memphis garage, mechanic/musician Daddy Mack is currently the subject of a one-hour documentary to be broadcast in 2007. A ten-minute segment of the film is included on this enhanced CD-- an intimate glimpse of the band working in the studio alongside producer Billy Gibson. Bluestones is an absolute gem and a CD that will likely become a blues classic.

Album Description
When people say "Memphis Blues ain't what it used to be," they haven't heard the Daddy Mack Blues Band. All of its members at one time or another played in the Fieldstones, one of the most talked-about urban blues bands since the 1970s. Led by Mack Orr on lead guitar and vocals, this four-piece group is down-home and funky and the best band around for cuttin' loose on a Saturday night. Their raw approach to blues is something too often missing in contemporary blues. In 1998-1999, they were the house band at the Center for Southern Folklore on Beale Street, where thousands of tourists from all corners of the world have experienced their natural and soulful musical blend. Howard Stovall, executive director of The Blues Foundation, was a special guest at the 1999 CD release of "fix it when I can" and isnt' shy about expressing who he thinks is carrying the torch in Memphis blues. At a Foundation party in April of 1999, Rolling Stones Keith Richards and Ron Wood sat-in with the band and, as the story goes, they were able to keep up musically, but no one was shouting to hear "Jumpin' Jack Flash" either.

Smooth Running!.......2001-11-07
Daddy Mack is an auto mechanic in the morning hours who transforms into a bona fide, but little known, bluesman at night. Unfortunately for Mack, until he gets some much-deserved attention from fans he can't quit his day job.
Mack's style seems to emulate Albert King, both in his playing style; fat tone and half talk-half sung warm vocals. On this disc, Mack plays with incredible feeling pushing solos to the edge without ever going over. Like tightening a lug nut, he seems to know when the song is tight enough without stripping it of its essentials. Helping on the rhythms are brothers Harold Bonner on Bass and James Bonner on second guitar and drummer Wilroy "Wolf" Sanders on drums. These guys are no slouches and Mack and the band are always in complete control on this top-notch debut CD. The performance is one of those golden moments that should not be missed. Not a bad track on the entire disc.
