Jiani was not an artist who produced a real body of work to justify a Greatest Hits collection, and so this 4 track ep serves the purpose of covering the highlights. Unfortunately, the best song, "Hit And Run Lover" is in remixed form here. The strings have been all but eliminated and the horns set WAY back in the mix. Anachronistic synthesizers have been added, making the track sound like album filler from a mid-80's synth group. The poignancy of the lyrics are no longer supported by the melancholy strings and overall the song is diminished.

I thought this release of Hit 'N' Run Lover 2006 was going to be great. I don't like any of the versions in this new CD. If available in the future,I'd love to purchase a CD with the original 1981 Hit 'N' Run Lover with both the short radio version and the longer 12" version dance clubs used to play. The horns and strings were awesome in the original.

I was here for this song the first time around. The new updated version is GREAT! Her voice is still peaking and they added just enough updating that it could have come out yesterday. Nice job!

A mix between LA and Bay Area flavors, but definitely West Coast. Not the typical gangsta [stuff]. "Party" is the party anthem of the album. More than 3 hits on the album. Both artists are lyrically inclined.

Man, these dudes are really puttin it down on the independent level. Derek D.O.A Allen and DK All Day on the production and rhymes, real street rhymes that everone can relate too. Both rappers and their features really came with it on this one. I love Pain, Hit n Run, Who Ready To Make It Happen, Los & Kocst, Party, Do What You Want, and May I die. To those who appreciate true talent check these Hatbackwardz guys out. They have a hard website too Hatbackwardz.com I am a true fan and they will go far, I've been here for 35 years in this music game and these rappers are real!

I don't where the other reviewer got his ideas from, but this CD is essentially the original Jiani full length "Hit n' Run Lover" LP issued in Europe circa 1981 with a few extra "bonus" remixes thrown in. I had the original vinyl, and at least one of the "Run" mixes present here is indeed the Matra issued original. This makes sense since Unidisc was the parent company of Matra and they have issued what is rightfully called a "reissue". The confusing thing is there were so many mixes of "Run" and "Mercy" issued in the 80's from various companies few people knew what was "original" and what was not. Besides the mixes here, there were some great mixes on Moby Dick of both "Run" and "Mercy" in extended versions, not to mention the housified "Run" mix that appeared on Passion in the UK in the mid 80's. I think the reviewer has this release confused with the Hot Records CD issued in the 90's that did feature Ian Levine re-recorded versions of Jiani's hits (and was pretty bad). Buy this CD for "Mercy" and the original "Hit n' Run Lover". Some other tracks are OK, like "Ask Me," but for the most part they're filler compared to the magnificence of "Run" and "Mercy".

If you're looking for "Hit'n'Run Lover, don't buy this. This CD is a ghastly remix by Ian Levine from the mid 90's. The original is such a fantasic, vibrant, uplifting record, how could anyone do this to it?
