Elbow Room [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
404 Soldiers is an Atlanta based male rap trio consisting of "C-Dawg", "Black" and "Big Lee". 404 represents the area code in Atlanta where the group resides and 'soldier' represents their mentality as well as that "dirty south bounce music" the group is known for. The group displays its hit making ability clearly once you hear the mid-tempo bounce of the first single "Elbow Room". The infectious hook has the fellas asking: Can a baller get some Elbow Room? Can a baller get some Elbow Room? and the ladies respond: Nah Player! Can a lady get some Elbow Room? Can a lady get some Elbow Room? Add that to the fact that Elbow Room is not only a catchy party song but also a dance and you have the making of a song destined to be a hit in clubs, streets, jeeps, and on radio. Listening to the rest of the album, from the slow groove of the thoughtful and heartfelt "Moma don't cry," to the raw street edge of Better Duck, DA Money and 404 Soldiers, it becomes immediately evident that '404' is a force to be reckoned with. Armed with tight lyrical flows, ominous deliveries, a street edge and commercial appeal - 404 brings the energy, and excitement back into live performances. They redefine what rap audiences would expect from a rap group. Their performances at local clubs such as 559, 321 and the Atrium and around the Atlanta area are enough to distinguish them from their counterparts. However, it's the combination of concepts, lyrics, attitude, music, and performance that place them ahead of their peers. While the current trend in rap has many artists busy trying to recreate the past, the 404 Soldiers are setting the stage to create the future. BANDMEMBERS: C DAWG, Big Lee, & Black

Vocals (Bonnie) & ensemble. Melody & new lyric by Bonnie Rideout. 3. Marching Song/Scotland the Brave/Auld Lang Syne From A Child's Garden of Verses, I have set this Robert Louis Stevenson poem, "Marching Song," to one of Scotland's most famous pipe marches. 5 out of 5 stars Love it so much I am buying it!.......2006-06-20

We discovered this fabulous set of tunes at our library. After checking it out 3 times this year, I realize we need to own this. It is a delightful collection of tunes and poems. My child loves the chance to hear accents from the British Isles. I love the bagpipes!

5 out of 5 stars For the child within.......2004-07-18

Bonnie Rideout's "Gimme Elbow Room" is a pure joy. I keep this CD in my classroom just for the fun of it. The Hen's March is a wonderful change of pace during a rainy day session. The quality of the recording is excellent and the vocals are clear and not 'too sweet' for adults to enjoy. Enjoy this with children and visit another time and place with Bonnie Rideout. You will not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Kid's Music for Adults.......2003-01-03

If you're stuck in a car on a road trip, you could do much worse than to have this CD along. The kids love it, to be sure, but musically and lyrically it's masterful enough for the adults in the car to listen again and again.

Along with Garcia/Grisman's "Not for Kids Only," the Persuasions's "Good Ship Lollipop," and the Seeger's "American Folk Songs for Children," this CD allows us to share the joy of music with our children without driving ourselves insane in the process.

Great fun!

5 out of 5 stars It's Made For Kids (But I Like It, Too!).......2001-06-19

If you've read my other reviews, you will know that I am a traditionalist. For the past two years, Bonnie Rideout has been consistently in my top five listens, and this cd is one that finds itself being played more often than not. When the kids are around, the entire set is listened to, but when it's adult time, I'm a wee bit more selective. My personel favorites are 'Bobby Shafto' and 'The Hen's March,' but all are equally enjoyable. Bonnie is such a great fiddle player! A 'newbie' (to Bonnie and to Scottish music in general) may think how could anyone listen to all Scottish fiddle music, but for those of you who haven't given it a chance, you will be in for a pleasant surprise. Bonnie's music is consistently traditional, and yet contemporary at the same time. It's alive, different, upbeat, moody, and just plain GREAT! Everyone of her albums are worth getting - I have 'em all - and if you get a chance, go see her in concert. Thank you, Bonnie, from one Michiganian to another!

5 out of 5 stars Our Family's Favorite.......2001-03-30

This CD is filled with joy! Sometimes gentle, but mostly exuberant, each song is a treasure. The music is complex and energetic; every note seems to come straight from the hearts of the performers. The wide variety of instruments (fiddle, bag pipes, dulcimer, harp, just to name a few) provide many layers of listening interest. You don't need to listen carefully to hear Bonnie Rideout make her fiddle cluck like a chicken or race like a steam locomotive. Children deserve to hear GOOD music, so forgo the Barney tapes and get this instead. This is a favorite CD for all the members of my family, children and adults alike!!!

4 out of 5 stars A bonanza of rich & solid musical ore .... very pleasant & intriguing songs.......2007-01-18

Playing Time - 35:33 -- Troubadour Dennis White has North Carolina roots and some Tennessee branches before his relocation to the wide, open state of Montana. During his college days, he did field recordings in Virginia and seems to personally relate to the message of the Carter Family's "Fifty Miles of Elbow Room" that he first heard back then. "When the gates swing wide on the other side, where the flowers ever bloom, on the right hand, on the left hand, fifty miles of elbow room." At present, he works in Bozeman, Mt. as musical director for the Montana Mandolin Society. With many performance, production and recording credits under his belt, it's interesting to go back and review his 1998 release that represents his musical journey through traditional, folk, bluegrass, string band, classic country, and original music. White likes plenty of room to move and operate in, and the versatile multi-instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, banjo) covers a broad scope of acoustic music. Why, he even offers "Christuma," a Brazilian huapongo dance tune! Then, there are the songs from Bill Monroe, John Hartford, Marshall Wilborn, Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Pat Alger, and Eric Anderson. Dennis' own originals include "Way Down in Dixieland" and "Laughin' Man." The former has a bluegrass bite and nostalgically dreams of home while on the road playing one-night stands. The latter is a lively instrumental contradance tune that is sure to impart some vigor to your step.

With plenty of authenticity and unpretentious picking and singing, Dennis and company demonstrate relaxed musical showmanship and presentation. The aural kaleidoscope incorporates acoustic string instruments along with some other unique flavors - touches of accordion, jew's harp, bones, hand drum, congos. I also like his approach of infusing his music with various banjo styles such as plucking, frailing, clawhammering, and bluegrass picking. When Dennis put out this album, he had an eclectic band called The Station Wagoneers. I'm assuming that some of the featured guest musicians were in his band at that time, and some may still be picking with him in the Montana Mandolin Society. "Elbow Room" is like an old window that allows us to cast a glance through a historical pane back to Dennis White's earlier roots. It is both pleasant and intriguing music, presented with solid musicianship from that region. "Elbow Room" is a bonanza of rich musical ore. Since then, numerous highly-acclaimed albums from the Montana Mandolin Society have been added to Dennis' continuing discography. (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)

The latest signing to popboomerang records is chris murphy, guitarist/singer/songwriter from popular perth band murphy's lore. After 10 years and 3 successful albums, chris has taken a side-step from the band with his new self penned debut solo record, 'elbow room'. Murphy's lore's 3 albums are loaded with chris murphy compositions and have allowed the band to gain a solid following not only within australia, but also in the underground pop scenes in usa, uk & japan.
