The most commercial Daredevil.......2006-10-11

I bought this album back in 1982 because I loved the OZARK MOUNTAIN DAREDEVILS and LARRY LEE was the Daredevil that I enjoyed the most. He was the lead singer on "JACKIE BLUE", "YOU KNOW LIKE I KNOW", and the small top 40 hit," IF I ONLY KNEW", from 1976. He also played drums and keyboards for OMD. Based on that, I felt that buying "MAROONED" would be a sure-bet winner! I was right!! I love this album and the sound is still very crisp and clear today. However, the production and synthesizers have a stereotype 80's sound which tends to make the disc sound quite dated. That can be a good thing for the people that are over 30. I still get a charge out of that over-produced and heavily synthesized music from that top 40 era.
This album is far different from the Daredevils material from the mid-seventies. The only songs that might hint of similarities would be the LARRY LEE top 40 hits that were mentioned above. Larry went Top 40 pop all the way! His voice is just as amazing as it was on "JACKIE BLUE" and the songs range from slow ballads, "THE BEST IS YET TO COME" to mid-tempoed pop gems such as the title track and "NUMBER ONE GIRL". He hints at a country flavored song with "I'm Your One".
If you are a person of early eighties pop-rock, heavy keyboard driven music, and pretty melodies, this will satisfy your 80's desires. Larry does deliver on this, "one and only solo effort" that could have been the next generation Daredevils. Well, that's a stretch, but it is an album of it's time!
Note- There was one small hit on this album, "Don't Stop" 1982

Hard to find single on Marooned.......2005-04-05

Larry's "The Best is Yet to Come" was a minor Top-40 and Adult Contemporary hit in the early 80's. VERY hard to find, so I was happy to locate it via Amazon. Larry and the Daredevils have a few great but obscure songs. An example of an Ozark Mountain Daredevils single that for some reason never made much of a splash but sounds great is "If I Only Knew" from the "Car Over the Lake Album".

Marooned , Hang On, Dont Talk, are 3 songs which come to mind at this writing. They all are wonderful songs, with lots of feeling and melodic beauty. Larry Lee is my favorite Ozark Mountain Daredevil. If you can get this CD, do so. You won's be disappointed. Larry's vocals are great,,and the saxaphone in marooned is terrific. I have always loved Larry's ability to calm me, and make me feel good ,,in a quiet kind of way. I am not surprised it didn't sell better,,because , as with all the daredevil albums,it appealed to a certain kind of person i think.

Killer live album from the German Thrash metal gods.......2002-08-26

Well for those who know, it's a live Sodom album and you know what you are getting. For those who don't know...just buy it and find out. Sodom are the undisputed kings of German Thrash Metal. Classic in every way. Thrashing guitars, distorted bass, blast beats/double bass, lyrics about beer-drinking, War, Satan...etc. It doesn't get any better than that. The live versions are in some ways much better than the original versions...listen to "Outbreak Of Evil", "Remember The Fallen", and "Agent Orange" if you do not believe me. Tom Angelripper is still belting out those killer lyrics with that deep german voice of his.

We bought this cd after Tim Cain performed at my son's school. The songs are kid-appropriate, with much, much better than average kid music. The music and arrangements are immpressive, Cain's voice is great and the songs are catchy and singable. My four year old and I have been known to listen to this cd for a solid hour in the car, with neither of us getting tired of it - how many other kids' albums can you say that about? I highly recommend this cd!
