Who would have thought back in the Hot Boys' early days that it'd be Lil Wayne who not simply survived his older peers like Juvenile, but ended up thriving by the time he reached Tha Carter, vol. 2, Weezy's fourth album. He sounds more confident as an MC--but more importantly, he wields a genuinely impressive array of different styles (as opposed to countless one-note rappers), from the chattering, thuggish "Fireman" and the languid style of "Oh No" to the emotional, introspective "Feel Me." In some ways, he actually bears a resemblance to rap's other major "Carter" (Jay-Z), not just in his increasingly effortless flow but in his assertiveness as a leader. In other words, he's matured in all the right ways as an artist. His album is still longer than it needs to be--22 tracks, 77 minutes--but even the filler is listenable while the best songs, like "Receipt," "Shooter," and "Hustler Musik" help establish this as one of 2005's last great albums. --Oliver Wang

LIL WAYNE IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-15
I HONESTLY DIDNT LIKE LIL WAYNE BEFORE THIS ALBUM, BUT THIS ALBUM HE PROVES THAT HE CAN SPIT. HIS LYRICS HAVE DEFINITELY IMPROVED A WHOLE BUNCH SINCE HIS EARLIER YEARS WITH CA$H MONEY. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ALBUM MAKES IT A HOTT ALBUM. THE BEATS, FLOWS, CONCEPTS, AND LYRICS. NOW LIL WAYNE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MC'S NOT JUST CUZ OF THIS ALBUM, BUT ALSO CUZ OF HIS LATEST MIXTAPES.
Weezy finally comes correct.......2007-03-02
Although he was only 23 when this was released, Lil wayne has been puttin out album for 8 or 9 years, so his isn't a rookie. I honestly can say I've enver been impressed by what he has put out other than a song here and there, but after a bunch of good reviews and people tellin' me I had to check this out, I finally gave in, and I am very surprised. Claimin to be the best rapper alive (far from it but this album puts him heading in the right direction). I don't have many Cash Money albums (about 4), but this is a very ice album. With 19 songs, more than half are definitely worth checking out (#'s 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 22). Guests are minimal on 3 or 4 songs, and the production is good (that has been a constant with Cash Money releases thanx mostly to Manny Fresh). A must have album and one that shouldn't be slept on.

AAAAAAHHHH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!.......2007-02-16
NOTE: I am 16, I just don't want my own username.
Ladies and gentleman, what is the big deal about these untalented posers? It's like the record companies aren't even trying to hire talent - they just hire whoever so that more innocent folks will go to that same record company and get a record deal.
But it's not just that - EVERY black kid at my school (NOTE: I am not racist) praises this guy, and that's why I singled him out. It's not just him, people also go gaa-gaa over other untalented drivel like Bow Wow, Chris Brown (the most overrated "musician" of the 20th century), and T.I. Whenever a black person at my school doesn't listen to what's popular, they are listening to - you guessed it - this guy.
Honestly, what is so great about him. In order to be considered a good rapper, IMO, you must have good, intelligent lyrics and an excellent flow (Some examples are Chuck D and Del tha Funkee Homosapien). Wayne here has neither. I know what you're thinking: "But he freestyles!" Well, you want to know how "good" of a freestyler he is? Take this verse from "Fireman":
"Come on mama let the Carter make ya, toss you like a fruit salad, strawberry grape ya".
What kind of verse is that?! I could come up with something better in my sleep. In fact, check this out:
I walk through the valley of the ashes
the area where death and car crashes
Run abundant, I'm so pungent
All the girls like me, but despite the
Pain that I suffer, I got my luster
So I can shine and be divine
In a world of pain, a world of sorrow
There can be no tomorrow.
I came up with that in just 5 minutes. See how easy it is to rap? Now I'm gonna go take this rap and get my OWN record deal. Later... MUCH!!!!

The milestone of lil wayne's career.......2007-07-14
When lil wayne first came out with the block is hot, most of the south was feeling him including me. Lil wayne been in the game for a while now. He just gotten better with time and is now one of the best rapper's in the south. Ain't taking nothing away from TI though. He was serious with this cd, even though the entire CD is freestyled. He still came hard with the punchlines and the metaphors. Some tight cuts on this cd include the intro; which is probably one of the hardest intro's ive heard anyone spit, go dj; good single, this is the carter, bm jr; the hardest song on this cd, i miss my dawgs; a song telling us how he feel about the former hot boys, only way, bring it back, ain't that a __, earthquake; which uses a good sample, and cash money millionaires. If you want some straight louisiana music, then cop this cd. Lilweezyana, that's the new planet. Peace!!!!!!
NEW ORLEANS!!!.......2007-03-15
Lil Wayne's lyrical skills are not what I thought they would be. Being from the south, particularly New Orleans, Louisiana, I thought he wouldn't be any better than Birdman or Soulja Slim...but he is! In fact, he's better.
This album has few flaws, and is definitely worth purchasing. There are 3 hit singles off the album including "Go D.J.", produced by Mannie Fresh. In fact, basically the whole album is produced by Mannie Fresh but on the cover it says it's executively produced by Birdman and his brother, I think (they both have the same last name).
But anyway, Lil Wayne is definitely not what I expected...his lyrical skills parallel those of Ludacris! He is definitely not the best rapper alive, but sure is the best in New Orleans. That I think.
His best album next to Lights Out.......2006-11-01
Standout tracks:THIS IS THE CARTER, B.M.JR(the hardest song on here), I MISS MY DAWGS(dope even though you and I know that he is full of s***), ON MY OWN, BRING IT BACK, WHO WANNA, SNITCH, EARTHQUAKE, AINT THAT A B***H, WE DONT etc. Filler: Go dj(crappy beat sleep inducing lyrics), Cash money millionaires, Get down(SNORE!), Hoes(Screams filler) and Only way. Bottom Line: Lil wayne's fourth album stands out as his best album next to his second solid work Light Out. What makes this album better than The carter2 is that the production is (for most of the songs) is not bad and he doesnt sound like an up north emcee clone. He is just being himself on this one.
LiL Wayne has been my baby since the Hot Boys!.......2006-10-18
This cd is hot I have always been down with lil wayne and because of me my boyfriend is all on his D**K and took over my cd's. The intro and the outro are outstanding I don't think I ever heard lil wayne like this but I'm liking this a little more than my boyfriend lil wayne if I ever meet you in person it's on and poppin. But I know that will never happen! On the real cop this one it's not a disappointment but don't forget the carter.
Lil Wayne - Tha Carter.......2006-09-10
After releasing his last album, "Lights Out" in 2002, Lil Wayne took a year off the solo scene by releasing another Hot Boys album, "Let Em Burn." Even though most of the album was recorded in the past years, that album sadly will probably be the last the group will ever release. Anyway Lil Wayne comes back on the scene in 2004 with his 4th solo album, "Tha Carter."

Lil Wayne FIRES back so hard with this album. After his 3 previous records, this one is definitely the best so far! I don't know what he changed in his style but he definitely evolved into an amazing talent with this release. DEFINITELY check this out, it's an incredible album!

ok but regualr is betta.......2005-11-17
its strai but chopped and screwd is not for all albums like this one so ya should like get rid of this **** and keep the reguar version
BETTER than the regular version.......2005-09-30
Although Wayne undeniably has some mic skills, one of the things I have always disliked about his flow (and beats) is that his voice is somewhat high-pitched and he flows so fast that you easily miss some of his lyrics. Hearing the chopped and screwed version of Tha Carter definetely gave me a much better appreciation of the album and how much Wheezy has stepped his game up since he first came out. Besides, his voice just sounds better slowed down.
Plus the beats sound 100 times better. I've never been much of a Mannie Fresh fan (he produced every track on Tha Carter) mainly becuase they are just so fast, but they sound much better slowed down a bit.
Anyway... As for the content itself, this album is a major improvement for Wayne, however he still has quite a ways to go. If his verses on his albums were as hot as the ones he has been dropping on recent guest appearences for other artists (i.e. Destiny's Child, Trina, Paul Wall), his cd's would fly out of the store
im not on drugs.......2005-06-26
i not a fan of chopped and scrwed at all well first off all, the rappers original voice sounds exactly the same as if you were to do it to any other artist, hell you can even chop and screw gwen stefani's album and it would sounds exactly the same, and if i were to screw gwen's album, is it considered a down south album?? chopped and screw might die out one day as i can see the artist doesnt sell well when they make a scrwed and chopped album.

Customer Reviews:
Very Very good coming from Watts.......2006-07-17
From owning and Listening to both the regular and the chopped and screwed version, I can cleary say that the chopped and screwed version is very good but not as good as the other albums that watts has chopped. However the carter 2 C&S is way better than the Carter 1 C&S which was also done by watts.
The album has it good songs that are, clear and understandable. (Fly in, Best Rapper Alive, Shooter, Hustler Musik, Grown Man). Most of the endings to the songs are blended to the beginning to the next song to allow smooth transition for the next track.
Husler Musik is my Favorite chopped track on the album.
Since the songs are already Slowed(Screwed) They allow the listner to understand what Weezy is saying better than the regular version would allow.
Watts Chopping style seems to be more of chopping certain words in the lyrics to allow more impact to the words, instead of just chopping every syllable like most amateur dj's do
There are some problems with album as well, I know Track# 8 ("Mo Fire") Could have been chopped alot better. It doesn't sound bad but the choppin in this song is kinda akward. Like it wasn't chopped in the right places. Track#9 (Weezy Baby feat. Nikki) sounds great...The only problem is it's way to short! It's only 1:25! Why did it have to be cut so short? Track#12 (Watts Scratch) Is watts showing of his scratchin' skills before Track#13 (Receipt) It's not bad either but to some listners (not including me) it might slow the pace to the next song. Last, Track# 20 (Fly Out)fades out (no pun intended) very early, almost in the middle of the song making it only 2:11 long.
All these things aside, tha Carter 2 C&S is very good if you are into chopped and screwed music. But if you're not then stick with the Excellent Regular version.
lastly to all the people who don't like Chopped and screwed music. If you hate "Chopped and Screwed"... Then why are you buying/listening to it? Why are you complaining about it on Amazon if you hate it? It does not make any sense to get something that you already know you're going to dislike.
Double the Pleasure.......2006-05-18
I've been listening to Houston underground since 1996, and SwishaHouse has always held it down since the late great Screw!!
The best rapper alive....definetly! And to make it even clearer, Watts slowed it down to make you hear and pay attention to his words. If you don't know anything about the screwed and chopped movement....don't buy the album!
A perfect way to butcher a good album.......2006-05-11
Chopped and Screwed is by far the worst butchering of good albums I've ever heard. It figures that Michael Watts would be affiliated with that wack Swishahouse label since they have put out some of the worst hip hop in the past couple years. Thank God that Chamillionaire and Slim Thug left, since they were the only talented members. Anyways this album is terrible. The original was the 2nd best album of the year but this is just a terrible butchering of it. Just listen to Fireman on here and listen to it on the original and you'll notice a big difference. Also they also screwed up Wayne's voice too, just like they do with all the other artists who's albums are butchered by this crap. Go buy the original instead and stop supporting the butchering of good music!
Mo Fire to a Hot CD.......2006-04-06
Michael Watts was the right man to call for the job. He put that extra stank on it making it able to be smelt right through the bag. Pick it Up. Peace

the carter II = amazing.......2006-03-02
the carter II album pretty much is the best masterpiece ever. it's basically lil wayne stepping his game up to show everyone that he's the best and the [what i call] whimp rappers that they can't even compete with him. it's various too- while maintaining its "gangster rap sound" it touches everything from hip-hop, to r&b, to soul, to rock. it's amazing
Absolutely great.......2006-01-23
Rap is definitely in need of something new, and this album delivers just that. Listen to the first cut off the CD, "Fireman", and just listen to some of the lyrics. I never thought I'd hear the word "rekindled" in a rap song, ever. This one actually makes you think, you've gotta actually put some thought into what he says, like "my money's 360, you only 180". Contrary to rappers like young jeezy, you don't have to be a 'thug' to understand the words. Most of rap is just made up of words that only a few people can even understand. In addition to having great beats, it's got some catchy songs on it, like "Shooter". It's about time someone came along who raps with some education, maybe people can actually learn something new from this album, besides the usual "I'mma shoot you".
The second disc (or "disk", as its spelled) is also good, just a screwed and chopped mixed CD of older songs, plus some off the first disc. All the songs crossfade and transition into one another, so its just 'continuous' music. Most noticeable is the song "F*** The World", off Lil' Wayne's first album, "Tha Block Is Hot". If you've heard this song, you know what it's like. If not, I recommend you listen to it, in addition to hearing the version on the second disc.
Overall, highly recommended, just a good album.
Cash Money is officially dead..........2005-12-22
Don't get me wrong, I'm a long time CMR supporter. I have all the albums. But now that Mannie is gone, there is nothing left but Lil' Wayne and he suffers without the backing of the best producer in the south. None of the beats are worth listening too. They sound like throwed together guitars under too heavy bass with some ugly samples for good measure. Fireman is the only decent song. Even the Chopped bonus disc is sub par. It sounds low and muffled for some reason. Lil' Wayne's flow is still growing and he's definitely one of the best in the game, but this effort just shows how much a good producer means to any artist. I was definitely dissappointed, especially after getting my hopes up after loving the now classic Carter 1 album. I can only hope that Mannie hooks back up with Juvy and B.G. and gets back to makin hits again. R.I.P. CMR...
skits suck.......2005-12-16
Well first off, nothing gets 5 stars from me unless its is peferfect in every track.
Lil Wayne messed it up again with wack skits; as he has done throughout his career. They are shorter this time, thankfully, but they still exist. Also, some of the beats are harder to bounce to...and fly in/outs' beats aren't too good. They could have been more monumental. They should have been.
I'm gonna go on a limb and say Weezy is definately top five rappers in the game now.
Def order this cd.

Product Description
When Dedication dropped early in 2004, Lil' Wayne and DJ Drama
brought the mixtape hustle back to New Orleans. One classic spurred
another and then another, and soon Weezy F Baby was not only a hip-
hop household name, but also a mixtape one, too. Back with another
Gangsta Grillz classic, the New Orleans Cash Money prezzy drops this
majorly exclusive mixtape of completely new and unreleased material.

Most people talk down on young toon becuz they don't think that he's the best rapper alive and that's becuz they don't listen to em like they spose to. Go all the way back to the big tymers album how you love that all the way up to NOW and tell me who holding it down. I don't even have to say no more. THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE!

I have always be a number 1 weezy fan. he is the best right now. thats is undisputable.
listen to the remix of biggies track on his recent duets album... can u compare biggie's version to weezy's? no ! why? cuz he was ready in 81 but born in 82'
he murdered the track.
number 15 is short but crazy.
3 is fire and 4 tells you how unpredictable his style is.
the lyrics are crazy..
