awaiting new album.......2003-09-17
I had the privilege of meeting Rha Goddess in Sedona, AZ far away from the
sounds of nyc hip hop - i didn't even know that she was an artist until the night before she left town - so she sent me her cd in the mail - i just got it yesterday and have been listening to it non stop. The first time thru i wanted to
compare her to a lot of people like Badu, or Lauren Hill, but i stopped and just listened and its ovbious that you can't compare her to anyone she is her own person, has her own style...... plus she likes my chocolate chip cookies.....
5 stars is not enough, Homage is due to this sistah!.......2000-08-15
I am not easily impressed, especially with Hip Hop....when I was 15, I used to sneak over to Bronx River Projects with my cousins to listen to Bam and Zulu Nation. So you can say I was weaned on it. Now 20 years later, after searching for some acid jazz.(U see Old Hip Hop heads, never stray away we just venture to new music styles) I came across Rha Goddesses album on Amazon. I listened to her samples and was impressed enough to buy it. (If I didn't like it, I was going to hand it over to my 16yo nephew) Well, this album flowed, her lyrics are tight, she manages to make social statement danceable. I popped it in and drove to NY, (4 hours). Needless to say, She made tbis sistah proud! My nephews and his friends got a hold of it, and they love it! Shame she is not recognized or marketed like Lil Kim, who I find tiresome and boring. Rha Goddess is a true artist, her lyrics are poetic. She paints a story and makes you think. Now isn't that what Hip Hop is supposed to be? I don't know about you, but I am tired of listening to sistahs who have no direction, unfoucused, materialistic ,empty headed and demean themselves for the sake of a few dollars and some platinum trinkets. Rha Goddess has stayed true to the roots of hip hop. I bow in awe when I listen to this sistah profess to the world, her truthes.
A journey.......2000-03-31
With its Badu-esque cover I had great expectations for the album when picking it up. I even listened to it twice the same night. Why twice? At first I did not know what to make of the direction of artist. The album is mostly rooted in hip-hop that has inspiring vocals, sung and poetic, that compliment the journey through. But is it a Hip Hop album? I trust that since this is Rha Goddess's first effort? that the follow up will be trend-setting. More of an artistic accomplishment, than a debut album. If you are artistically inclined get this product. If you are of like mind, looking for an artistic statement this may not be the disc for you.

AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! This is a MUST HAVE!.......2000-01-16
Look out y'all! Divine funk has a new master (no doubt!)! This is the most breath-taking piece of work I've heard in a very long time! Rha Goddess is the embodiment of transformation, empowerment and healing. The first time I heard this CD I had to shake my head, for in an instant, I found myself being transported to another dimension where only light, divinity and truth can flourish. This CD is a masterful mix of hip-hop, jazz, funk, blues, r&b and spoken word that bangs your already-knodding head, brings you prayerfully to your knees, and uplifts your soul. Rha Goddess calls a spade, a spade with raw elegance, getting to the very heart of what sources the madness in us all. Standing shoulder to shoulder with all who still dare to believe in love, she skillfully points the way to our collective liberation by, "Tapping the power within..." and sounding the battle cry to unite and claim our right to full self-realization.My Pen (original and remix), You Can't Touch Me, and Gangsta Religion demonstrate the magnitude of her lyrical brilliance and virtuosity, just as the rest of the CD conveys her keen socio-political awareness, spiritual depth, committment to the empowerment and healing of all. If you only buy one CD this year, make this the one.
