Customer Reviews:
Alright .......2007-02-23
It's alright, the majority of the CD seems to be RnB though, I didn't really even bother with it. The good, rap songs though are ... On The World, Blunt Time, and Been There, Done That.
Worth it........2006-10-15
I would recommend this CD to fans of R&B and Smooth hip-hop. It's well produced and has variety. Nas, Krs-One, and B-Real are on it and I got this used through this website. Dre is the executive producer so it's really well-produced from top to bottom and I've played it a lotta times. It's definitely worth the cheap price I paid for it. It's kinda old school and I guess that's why peeps is hatin' on it. Every song is not about shootin' niggas. This CD is probably not for illiterate gang bangers or gangsta wannabees. These songs are by the new artists that Dre was trying to introduce from his new label after he left Death Row.
Forgettable.......2006-07-03
As a fan of westcoast rap, and a fan of KRS because he's on this, it kills me to give this 1 star. If you compare this to the Chronic, this album deserves -10 stars at least. The only track bearable to me is east coast/ west coast killers. All the other stracks probably would never make a Dr. Dre greatest hits. Seriously if you new to Dre and shady/aftermath, do not buy this, there is truly nothin on this album worth listenin' to twice.
The Aftermath, After Death Row.......2005-08-01
Dr. Dre's first release after leaving Death Row with this compilation of heavy hitters and newcoming artists. With "Aftermath (The Intro)" strarting off this lp it seemed to be headed for a five star classic. "East Coast/West Coast Killas" by Group Therapy consists of four emcees / rappers of killing lyrics of RBX, Krs-One, B-Real & Nas. Mel-Man drops mediocre lyrics over the heavy bassline and hard kicks on "Sh**tin' On The World". RBX bats again on the solo "Blunt Time" as he continues to deliver the hard lyrics as done on The Chronic. Newcomer R&B diva, Kim Summerson delivers an impressive performance on "Choices". Dre has a song of his own, "Been There Done That", as he compares himself to other rappers / emcees and producers. The highlight of this release is production!
feelin it.......2005-08-01
i got this from amazon a few months ago, and its on constant rotation. i believe i had every album with a dr dre production or guest rap except this album. i had heard it was dissapointing to some people. i dont know why, its not really a dre album, its a compilation with 7 dre beats on it.i though everything was gonna be dre beats so i was dissapointed, but truth is if i didnt read the credits, i woulda thought all the beats were dre anyway. dre raps on 2 songs which are both dope. half of this cd is rnb songs. which are pretty damn good. mel mans(didnt know he rapped)sh*ttin on the world is the best rap song here and is perfect to smoke to.choices by kim summerson is the best rnb track, which is the best flip of isaac hayes look of love ive heard, and makes ashantis song rain an excercise in futility(altho its obviously not as great a song as jiggas can i live). musically this album is straight bumpin and the other producers do a good job of keepin up with dre. most of the artists featured are no names but it doesnt matter because the beats are so smooth and bangin. i would recomend this to fans of rnb and smooth hip hop. i got this while im waitin for 'detox' and i played it a lotta times. its definetly worth the cheap price
Product Description
There is one thing that Dr. Dre has been known for having a rare talent with since the beginning, other than producing, and that one thing is being able to spot a young artist with that special something before other labels do, and then get him or her signed to his Aftermath record label. Everyone thought that Dre was crazy for signing some wacky, skinny white dude that rapped about things like suicide, trailer parks and excessive drug use, but nearly a decade later Eminem is one of the best selling hip hop artists of all time. This case is no different, but now it's back to the mighty West Coast for one of the least-known monster talents of underground hip hop right now, Bishop Lamont! Signed to Aftermath records in early 2006, after appearing on the soundtrack to the video game "True Crime: Streets Of L.A.", as well as Warren G's "In The Midnite Hour" album, Bishop has made a big entrance into the game and he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Beat wizard Dr. Dre and West Coast mixtape king DJ Skee, come together on this banger of a mixtape, showcasing a sick tracklist of all-new Bishop material that is just what fans have been drooling for, and the KKK-killer theme of "N*gger Noize" is keeping things ever-controversial just as West Coast gangsta rap ought to be. Don't sleep on this one playaz, the West is back up in ya! [17 Tracks]
