Animal House [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Martinez's debut, Up Close and Personal, flaunted so many high-octane collaborators (Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Snoop, Wyclef) that many interpreted it as a way for Martinez to obscure her middling mic skills. This time around, she trims her guest list down considerably and goes for herself on "A New Day," which displays how women in the testosterone-filled rap business endure daily sexist attitudes. Animal House needs more tracks like "We Can Get It On," where Martinez distinguishes herself from most of the femme fatales in hip-hop by flipping some fly "Spanglish" rhymes alongside Noreaga. Instead, most of the album features borrowed concepts (the chorus of "Animal House" is a take on "Murder Was the Case") and beats ("Waitin' On" sounds much like 80 percent of the bounce tracks in the South). "If I Could Go," featuring hook-crooner-du-jour Lil' Mo, almost saves the day, but Nas may have been on to something when he suggested that this Hot 97 (New York) radio disc jockey stick to her day job. --Dalton Higgins

Product Description
Angie Martinez has been part of New York's airwaves on top-rated Hot 97 and becoming one of rap's most energizing forces. This album has more of the sizzling beats and smooth rhymes that made her debut Up Close and Personal such a hit, and it features the song 'If I Could Go' with Lil' Mo and Sacario. 2002.

This is a great soundtrack to a great movie. All these classics are a great buy and really rock. This is an excellent CD and a must have.

5 out of 5 stars Great albumn from a Great movie.......2004-01-17

If you enjoyed the music in the movie, then I must say, get this albumn. Even if you don't like the movie (I think there is about one or two people out there), I would still say get this albumn. The soundtrack has some of the best songs, with some of the best lines of the movie spread throughout the albumn. This is a great albumn to listen to when you are getting ready to go out and party or play it at your next party to get the people up and dancing.

Amazon.com essential recording

Disney's Snow White, the world's first animated musical feature (1937), is still a standard in the industry. Though 1930s recording technology was primitive by today's standards, the Disney music studios have always used the available technology to its fullest, and this recording still stands up. The mature but hauntingly childlike Adriana Caselotti as Snow White is a unique vocal presence, and the songs include "Whistle While You Work," "Heigh-Ho," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come." The score is nearly as great an accomplishment as the film itself. --John Sanchez

5 out of 5 stars The Churchill's are very talented persons........2007-02-13

When I was 6, I already had a very good sense of what is a fine music score. I'm 73 now and still loving that music.

5 out of 5 stars One Song.......2006-02-19

I bought this album almost especially for the piece of music entitled "Special Sort Of Death." It does sound creepy but that's what I loved about it. From I saw the film I was like I have to have that.

Anyway another reason for me purchasing this album was the main titles for the film I love the ochestration. My favourite song on this album would have to be One Song followed by with A Smile and a Song.

And number 5 (a piece of music) I can't remember what it's called but it is creepy too the part that has snow white running through the woods.

Someday my prince will come is nice too. Adriana's voice is a little high and annoying sometimes though. But it's still nice to listen to. I listen to this album alot it's very nice and I like to listen to the version of One Song that is played at the end of the movie.

4 out of 5 stars good soundtrack for halloween.......2005-07-14

first of all, i have seen the movie and the hag scares me very much. about the music,it's not good music for children because the orchestral moving creates dark suites. the other part of makin' pies is no exception. i listened to special sort of death on a site called mp3.com and the beginning is very disturbing almost, because it's when the queen appears as the old witch and she plots to destroy snow white
Queen:(laughing)it's not for you, it's for snow white
anyways, bye-bye

5 out of 5 stars REMasterpiece!.......2003-01-21

This soundtrack is a perfect compliment to the film, and It's gloriously remastered to make you feel you are still watching and not just listening to the music from the movie itself.

In the liner notes I read the original soundtrack only consisted of five songs, the five songs we hear sung in the film. "One song/I'm Wishing", "Hi Ho", "The Yodeling Song", "Some day my prince will come", and "Whistle while you work". Over the years, the instrumental musical score was thrown in to create a wonderful masterpiece of a soundtrack.

I highly recommend purchasing this. If you like the music from the movie, you will love this. After hearing this for the first time(I've now heard it at least 100, thanks to my 2 yr. old), the movie is brought out to be more of a musical adventure as well as a wonderful story to be told.
This is my son's favorite c.d., and he has so much fun dancing and singing along.

5 out of 5 stars A Magical, Delightful Soundtrack.......2002-10-07

This was the first of the newly remastered and expanded "Disney classic soundtracks" that I purchased for my collection, and it's still my favorite. How wonderful to have, not only the vocals from the old vinyl version ("I'm Wishing/One Song," "With a Smile and a Song," "Heigh-Ho," "Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum," "The Dwarfs' Yodel Song" (and if you don't want to get up and dance to it, there's something wrong with you!), and "Some Day My Prince Will Come"), but the background instrumentals from the track, never before available to the at-home audience. The "Queen Theme," the chilling "Far Into the Forest," and "I've Been Tricked" particularly bring scenes from the movie springing to mind. There are also two songtracks that were cut from the film print. If you're a Disney-lover, your collection must positively include this CD.

4 out of 5 stars "Russian Roulette II".......2005-06-21

This album is logical sequel from very beginning of UDO's solo career. In fact, this got to be called Accept II or Russian Roulette II. UDO made a lot of good songs and if you pick any of his solo projects you will not definitely be disappointed.
He picked different musicians, including Rudy Graf and Peter Szigeti both from ex. Warlock (I still longing for this band) and wrapped them in Accept sound (completely bingo). This is a very good album, although it is not UDO's the best album. Classic tunes are Animal House, They Want War, Go Back To Hell, They Want Loud, Warrior etc, etc. Highly recommended for those who enjoy in classic heavy sound.

4 out of 5 stars "Banging my head to a metal attack".......2004-03-18

Animal House was the first album by Accept's vocalist Udo Dirkschneider's band UDO. If you are an Accept fan, you will probably enjoy this album. Why? Because Udo's mates from Accept wrote it plus it has the same blistering metal sound Accept was known for. With Dirkscheider's raw vocals, it sounds like an Accept album. All the songs are very catchy, too. My favorites includes "Black Widow" with the driving guitar, "They Want War" which includes a cool synthesizer piece in the middle, and the strikingly soothing "In the Darkness." The latter track is a ballad and Dirkschneider's voice is surprisingly nice on it. It is not an extremely beautiful and romantic voice, but a pleasant enough voice to do this excellent ballad justice. I did not know he had it in him. The album has the following 10 tracks: 1. Animal House, 2. Go Back to Hell, 3. They Want War, 4. Black Widow, 5. In the Darkness, 6. Lay Down the Law, 7. We Want It Loud, 8. Warrior, 9. Coming Home, and 10. Run For Cover. The album is very solid with no weak track in the bunch (in fact, it is more solid than some Accept albums). If you are an Accept fan who did not branch off into U.D.O., Animal House is a great way to start.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best!.......2003-06-09

This is a good UDO album. It rocks and has good melodic lyrics. I would recommend this CD along with Mean Machine as far as the solo work of UDO goes.

Product Description

We all have our youthful indiscretions, so lets get that out of the way first: Stephen Bishop will forever be immortalized as the guy whose guitar gets smashed to flinders by John Belushi in Animal House. A minor character in the film, he was officially known as Charming Guy With Guitar in the credits. He also wrote the movies theme, setting the stage for one of the all-time comedy classics. Bishops brief time in the spotlight tends to obscure his many talents as a songwriter. After all, not many writers have their tunes covered by a range of artists that stretches from Eric Clapton to Pavarotti, with stops at Barbara Streisand and the Four Tops in between. Bish opens with a nod to a pair of songwriters from the past: Harold Arlen and E.Y. Yip Harburg, whose If I Only Had A Brain came from The Wizard Of Oz. Bishop dedicates What Love Can Do, which originally concluded the first side of the album, to Harburg. But the emotional core of the disc is Only The Heart Within You, which features background vocals from Art Garfunkel, who has frequently covered Bishop tunes throughout his career. Bish is a sweet record, suited to Bishops tenor (in both senses of the word), caught at the apex of his commercial success. To give you some idea of just how A-list he was at the time, check out the photo of the Whistling Bishettes in the gatefold; among them were such celebs as Carrie Fisher, Tanya Tucker, Cameron Crowe and John Landis, among others.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars solid, intriguing sophomore album from Stephen Bishop.......2005-10-15

Stephen Bishop's 1978 second album, "Bish" (titled after his nickname, of course), is an ambitious effort with very much of a cinematic feel to it--it figures that this guy has done lots of soundtrack work over the years. It's telling that Bish starts the album off with an instrumental cover version of "The Wizard Of Oz" tune "If I Only Had A Brain". There's also the brief "Recognized" which seems like something that was written for a 1920s musical, and the same thing pretty much goes for "What Love Can Do", the latter of which adds caveman-style background vocals to the mix. Admittedly, these 3 aforementioned tracks are ultimately all minor works. However, there are a bunch of gems here showcasing Bishop's classy songwriting, as well as his highly expressive and smooth vocals. The piano lead orchestrated ballad "Looking For The Right One" is tender and affecting. "Everybody Needs Love" is an incredibly catchy uptempo song with an infectious extended high note from Bishop that arrives toward the end. The dramatic, epic ballad "A Fool At Heart" is sumptuous. The brilliant "Vagabond From Heaven" is an exciting uptempo song with witty lyrics seemingly about his troubles with his stepfather as a kid. The fittingly tropical-flavored "Bish's Hideaway" is a soothing, sighing ballad with defeatist lyrics and excellent melodicism. "I've Never Known A Nite Like This" is an evocative song with a 'rainy day' feel on the verses and a great catchy chorus. Also very pleasant is the mid-tempo pop-rocker "Losing Myself In You" which has Michael McDonald on background vocals. "Only The Heart Within You" is a quality piece of songwriting, but unfortunately it's very much marred by the overproduction/ excessive synthesizer layers. The album closer "When I Was In Love" is okay, but weepy. So, "Bish" is certainly a flawed album, but the great stuff makes it a mighty fine album anyway. If all you have from Bish is the "On And On--The Hits Of Stephen Bishop" and/ or his "20th Century Masters" disc, and you want to dig deeper, you won't regret getting a copy of "Bish".

"Bish" was lovingly reissued on CD in 2005 by Hip-O-Select Records, with excellent remastering, as well as a recreation of the layout of the original gatefold vinyl LP--if you're looking to get the album, this is the version I recommend you go for.

One of techno's prime trendsetters, Moby flashed surprising rock chops on the Joy Division tribute Means to an End in 1995. Here he abandons the dance floor completely for a convincing stroll through a multitude of guitar-based styles. "Come on Baby" is the man's idea of trad rock, "Someone to Love" explodes like the best hardcore, and "Face It" is a swelling progressive epic. Animal Rights also includes Moby's ode to his roots, a cover of Mission of Burma's "That's When I Reach for My Revolver." --Jeff Bateman

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars this is some of moby's best work. it really is. .......2007-05-05

when i first listened to animal rights (a very long time ago), i couldn't even get through half of it. it was so loud and angry and what was he thinking? a few years later, i popped it in again and i was completely blown away by it. it is incredibly emotional, raw, sexy and relevant. i have most definitely listened to animal rights twice as much as play. play is pleasant and wonderful, but animal rights jars my very soul and makes me FEEL.

5 out of 5 stars I love this one.......2007-04-10

This is the perfect marriage of heavy and soft via Moby. Who knew that the little electronica man had metal in him?

It's amazing, and remains my favorite Moby album by far. "Face It" is the best!

3 out of 5 stars Just when you thought you heard it all..........2005-08-24

Moby badly wants you to like Animal Rights, it's obvious. When he compiled a list on Amazon.com of recommended listening, he included it (here's your horn Moby, now go toot it)! On the inside liner notes he writes "Please listen to animal rights in its entirety at least once." So if you read between the lines, it appears that Moby wants you to give Animal Rights special attention.

The peculiar thing about this is that if there is a single Moby album that I cannot make it through in its entirety, it's this one. Animal Rights is more conducive to small doses. You're not going to drink a whole gallon of 2% milk at once are you? You see my point.

I have to applaud Moby for challenging his audience though. His previous album, Everything Is Wrong, scored numerous favorable reviews as the electronica genre was about to boom in America. Remixes were popping up in clubs and parties everywhere and Moby was everyone's favorite underground DJ. So it took guts to make an album like Animal Rights which is wrought with speed metal that sounds like it was recorded after a full day of Vivarin and coffee. The guitars are primal, the drums margin on migraine, and the vocals are, to put it politely, melodic screaming.

Of course, Animal Rights does its best to stay as musical as possible while it beats you over the head with its angst. There are moments of sparse arrangement, such as Now I Let It Go and Anima, that make you wish Moby would try this just a little more often. Alone, Old, and Living sound like the instrumentals that could have been lifted from latter albums like Play or 18, albeit with a more passive-aggressive production job. His cover of That's When I Reach For My Revolver is a treat too, keeping the rock n roll in steady check for once.

But as fresh as Animal Rights sounds, it can be just as arduous. Sure, just as Someone To Love comes at you like a ton of bricks, you may think it's cool. Like, wow man! Moby is cranking up the electric and fuzz guitars, and it's all totally in my face! Rock on! But after 16 tracks and 73 minutes of this kind of thing, you want this one-trick pony to ride into the sunset already.

This is my first Moby Album and I bought it because to the track "That's when I Reach for my Revolver". I was surprised upon listening to it and it's kind of fun ride of emotional settings. Harsh and Heavy tracks intersparsed with Mellow and Soft. If you're eclectic then you'll love it all! Here is an album for the soft hearted (Techno New Age)as well as for the Rock freaks (Sort of Industrail Trash what ever). Buy it and see the prodigy out of Moby burst to your ear. For the Dance affeccionado this is not for ya, but give it a try you might like it!!!

4 out of 5 stars Moby goes Metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-04-08

Rare, very rare piece in Moby s catalogue, in the days were Animal Rigths were recorded Moby stated that he left listening techno and electronic music for a while and started to listen Metal and Hard and wanted to do something different , the final result is this collection of tracks loaded of dense sounds, chaotic vocals and adrenaline, recordings are not overproduced, you can even somethimes listen strings scratch , static sound , and echoes that reflect some lack of care in the details but you can be certain that all this is part of the album concept and sound, that have the intention to own a dirty and jamming atmosphere, please check "thats when i reach for my revolver", Animal Rigths would be definitelly the only album i recommend from the descendent of the author of Moby Dick

Album Description

Angie Martinez has been part of New York's airwaves on top-rated Hot 97 and becoming one of rap's most energizing forces. This album has more of the sizzling beats and smooth rhymes that made her debut Up Close and Personal such a hit, and it features the song 'If I Could Go' with Lil' Mo and Sacario. 2002.

4 out of 5 stars Where has she been?.......2006-03-07

Named after her newly formed record label based around the shining star that is Sacario (what happened to this kid?) this album shows Angie stepping up her game and putting Cool & Dre to work before they were Fat Joe's go to beat makers, and before they were big time producers for that matter. When Angie dropped her first album it seemed she was counting on her radio ties to make a name for herself by loading the album with big name guests. That album was also received as some what of a joke being that she was a radio DJ (and quite a successful one at that). But with this album she is trying to show that she actually does have some skills on the mic and has an ear for talent as she picked up the aforementioned Sacario and Cool & Dre before anyone else new about em. The lead single "If I Could Go" featuring Lil' Mo and Sacario is a hot club banger with Mo dropping a hook very well and both Angie and Sac come with it and Rick Roc drops an infectious beat that can double as both a hip hop club song and as a song that you could salsa to. She calls on a few big name friends such as Missy Elliott, Petey Pablo and Noreaga to come in and add some life to a few tracks. Her alliance with Fat Joe goes beyond just picking Cool & Dre to produce over half the album as Tony Sunshine drops in on the Ski produced "F*cked Up Situation" (10) and Fat Joe himself joins her and Sac on "Live Big remix" (13). This album does a good job of introducing us to some new talent and giving Angie Martinez a name as a solid emcee and not just someone who is trying to hustle her NY fame into worldwide fame.

5 out of 5 stars WOW, no disappointments here........2004-09-10

I simply love Angie Martinez, she's got so much flava and she can definitely work it.
I was well impressed with her debut UP CLOSE & PERSONAL and ANIMAL HOUSE certainly doesn't disappoint, her albums are the type that you can put on and let play.
My favourite song off ANIMAL HOUSE has to be F'ked up Situation, it's just fantastic the way she keeps her cool on the track whilst deep down inside she's hurting about a failed relationship but in true ANGIE style. I also love the last track very melodic and a great finish to the album, I'm not to sure about the interludes in-fact they crack me up on anybody's album, but she definitely makes up for the very few interludes there are with some tight songs.
I recently went through a break-up but I found this album a real comfort in a way that I didn't sit and cry all the time, I got on with life and I knew that Angie had my back.
I wish there was more female rappers like her, the Latin cross over is great, y'all remember LIVE AT JIMMY's? How fly was that track?

4 out of 5 stars Second Time Around.......2003-11-09

When I heard "If I Could Go!" on the radio, at first I didn't who it was until it came to the chorus and then I realized "oh this is Angie's new joint!" Then I went to search for the full album and I found it. Let me say that it's a good follow up to the debut "Up, Close and Personal" but it's not as good as the debut. She kicks off with "Animal House" along new comer Sacario who's featured in three of the songs on the album including the debut single "If I Could Go!" with Lil' Mo and "Live Big (Remix)" with Latin Rapper, Fat Joe. Songs which may really may peeps remember what Angie's about is "A New Day" and "Never" She talks freely to the public in both the songs sayin' I'm here so you either love me or leave me. Angie is not really as hardcore as Lil' Kim, so when it comes to relationship songs, Angie becomes like an R&B star, just saying what she wants. She displays this on "If I Could Go!" and the R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop/Rap styled "F***ed Up Situation" Which is a ballad talking about a past relationship, the song features Tony Sunshine who worked with Angie on her previous record. Missy Elliott makes an appearance on Angie's album on the club bangin' "What's That Sound?" which is really cool. Angie is still keepin' herself real but I'd had to say this album is more for the West Coast as it's that Funk styled album which you get from most West Coast rappers. It's about her Miami life whereas "Up, Close and Personal" was about her life on the East Coast in New York. Well, she's still one of the tightest female rappers to date and she better keep on selling and making millions of fans. C'mon y'all must come support Angie Martinez. Make her fan list an Animal House!

2 out of 5 stars could've been better.......2003-06-26

This cd was allright but some of the songs were really old school and pretty boring if I have to say so.I mean this lady is supposd to be a rapper and half of the songs can't even get a party started.

5 out of 5 stars Animal House - Up, Close and Personal Part 2!.......2003-04-18

After a long "Up, Close and Personal" album, Angie returns with something a bit shorter. "Animal House" is the face of Hip-Hop and Rap music, it brings the life to it. Of course she's already proved on "If I Could Go!" which features Lil' Mo and Sacario, which I think was the hottest song in 2002, forget about Nelly's Party tracks! This is some real Rap! Other songs to prove it's beauty would be songs like "A New Day" which brings you into the world of Angie and also "Never" which was one of the tightest songs on the album. Angie has never been a sexual rapper, but she keeps her relationship issued songs like "F***ed Up Situation" featuring Tony Sunshine, harsh name, romantic tune! To let the peeps still know she's got Latin flavour, she throws in "We Can Get It On" with N.O.R.E, a party Latin track. Speaking of party's "What's That Sound?" and "Live Big [Remix]" are two Old Skool Hip-Hop party tracks which really bring back the memories of the good old days when peeps still remember what RAP and HIP-HOP actually was (not the Rap of the present day!). She has to be one of the artist of the present day who still remember the defined meaning of the words: Rap and Hip-Hop. Everyone should respect her for that! Go Angela!
