5 out of 5 stars A LONG AWAITED PROJECT .......2006-05-19

Scaramanga aka Sir Menelik and I go way back.I've been there through the ups and the downs of him trying to get this project released on Rawkus. And I'm over joyed that it is on the market for all of his fans to enjoy. He has always been ahead of his time as a lyricist and a creative person, who's mind and mouth can think an speak of an accumulation of scientific an numerating problem solving that kept ALL us listening for years.I wish him much success in what ever he chooses to do, the industry needs more people like him..........

HAVE A BLESSED DAY

4 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars..........2006-03-06

sir menelik, now known as scaramanga shallah, is better known from his days with rawkus records 96-99...this release was scheduled to be a rawkus release, but setbacks and the eventual collapse of the company led to big time delays on this material...with newer material on the scaramanga albums, this is the classic material when menelik had the whole space-flow-kool keith-thing going on...this is a hot album start to finish, and the multiple remixed tracks towards the end of the disc dont slow it down at all...the sound ranges from nice to suspect, but if you have the original soundbombing or lyricist lounge albums, its all good...this is the indie scene at its high point...so, if you know of menelik and are thinking about this cd, pick it up...for some updated material, pick up the scaramanga albums...especially snake eyes. peace.

5 out of 5 stars Hyperactive lyrics, and boomin' productions..........2005-04-17

If you were fan of Dr. Octagon's (aka Kool Keith and alot more) Dr. Octagonecologyst, I'm sure if you like this Octagonecologyst, you'll really enjoy this one ('cause it's OCTAGON here and Dan the Automator..). Cyclops 4000, is not really JUST Sir Menelik, it's more of a group. Yea, as said, there are some songs that have wee less of sound quality that are named on the review under. But, they ain't that dramatically bad.

Dan the Automator produces here just as before, also production by Sir Menelik himself, DJ Spinna, El-P, and Pimpin' Rex. My favorite song personally is track (400)6, Let's Build for a Sec. But, I find the rest worth it. So enjoy yourself while ya can.

4 out of 5 stars Great album. . . Not so great sound quality.......2005-02-23

I've been a fan of Sir Menelik/Scaramanga since the beginning and I've been waiting for this official release for years now. I already had half the songs on singles and such but it's still nice to get them all on one collection with several new joints as well. Not as good as "Seven Eyes, Seven Horns" but it's certainly worth it for classic tracks like "Nightwork", "So Intelligent", "Macroscope" and "Terrorworks".

The only problem is some of the songs seem to have been transfered from someone's old Tonemaster cassette tapes. Sun Large Records went to enough trouble to offer this long overdue release in a handsome package, they could have given us a decent mix-down as well. But if you're even looking at this page you know who Sir Menelik is and if you know who he is then you're likely a true-school head so a little hiss shouldn't bother you too much.
