About the Artist
Frankie Cutlass is best known for hits like "Puerto Rico-Ho!" (Relativity/Sony) and "Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya!". In addition to being part of the Flip Squad with Funkmaster Flex and DJ'ing on New York's premiere Hip-Hop station Hot97 (WQHT), he has also produced and collaborated with stars such as Notorious B.I.G., Luke, Fat Joe, Lost Boyz, Busta Rhymes, Redman, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Biz Markie & Shaggy as well as veteran Latin Music artist Tito Nieves on his smash "I Like It Like That".

Frankie Cutlass' sound is infectious and timeless and his songs have been used in major motion picture soundtracks like "Charlie's Angels" and "Don't Be A Menace" as well as numerous radio & television commercials.

Seven years ago Frankie had a spiritual awakening and introduced himself to the Christian community by ministering at churches around the country, and has since aligned himself with men of God such as Nicky Cruz-Evangelist and youth pastor, Chris Hill. He has appeared on Dr. Creflo A. Dollar's World Changers Ministries (featured on BET) and The Christian Crusade at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Frankie has ministered alongside Christian athletes Allan Houston (NY Knicks), Charlie Ward (NY Knicks), Mike Barrow (NY Giants), Howard Cross (NY Giants) and many others.

With the release of his first album in over 7 years, "New Wine", Frankie will take the Hip-Hop community by storm and awaken today's youth with his unique sound and his spiritually uplifting lyrics.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Mill. Classical review.......2007-05-13

This is a great set of recordings for the money, the only problem was I've had to clean some of the CD's before they played correctly.

4 out of 5 stars classical music for the unitiated.......2007-04-01

This set is a good way to start listening to classical music. It's very well produced and easy to listen to. I purchased it to use as part of my world history high school class. It would have been nice to have some bio information on the composers. However, the product is exactly as advertised and good value for the money. Although I studied classical music at school, I had all but forgotten it until I bought this set. I heard several tracks I haven't heard for over 30 years, and I had been humming Brahms's 'Hungarian Dance no. 5' for years without ever knowing what it was and it was on the disc, so that was nice.

I found it to be a very good selection overall, but I felt too much had already been heard on TV, which of course is what lots of newcomers to classical music might appreciate. I managed to find about 2 hours of tracks that I wanted to keep, which works out quite expensive per disc, but I did find some wonderful music I had completely forgotten about, so it was worth it. All in all, it represents good value, and I have only knocked one star off as so much of it had been used in adverts.

It is definitely a good introduction to classical music, and it has made me want to listen to more of it, so I don't regret this 'expensive' purchase one bit!

Classical Masterpieces of the Millennium [20 CD Set]

5 out of 5 stars A very helpful collection.......2007-03-24

I define this set as an excellent way to find out who you like, and who you don't, among 20 of the important composers. It opens the door to purchasing more complete pieces by composers you do like, and can save a lot of time and money in the process.
To criticize the set for not containing more composers, or more than just snippets of those who are in the set, is missing the point: it is a helpful introduction to finding your way in the huge maze of classical music. It succeeds admirably in this.
Sound quality is uniformly very good on an audiophile system.
Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!.......2007-03-08

A great way to start a classical music collection. It's nice to have a full CD of each composer. It makes it easy to keep track of selections/composers I already have and what composers I still need to puchase to complete my collection.

5 out of 5 stars El mejor Strauss.......2004-10-02

5 out of 5 stars Johann Strauss: Waltzes and Polkas.......2003-05-26

I just bought this CD today and I agree with the previous review. This is a wonderful recording of Strauss' waltzes. I grew up with Antal Dorati's recording of the waltzes. However, I have not been able to find his recordings re-issued on CDs though! I wonder if Michael can let me know where to find the Dorati's Strauss CD? Thanks.

5 out of 5 stars Ormandy Suited to Strauss.......2003-05-19

Stravinsky once said, in one of his "Prince Igor" moments, that Eugene Ormandy was a perfectly good conductor of Johann Strauss. Well his insult was half-right -- Ormandy is a good conductor of Strauss' Waltzes, he just also happens to be a great conductor of everything from Bach to Wagner. I personally feel that almost all of the material Ormandy committed to disc with the Philadelphians during his association with CBS/Columbia/Sony is worth owning, and this CD of Strauss Waltzes is no exception. While I'm not a huge waltz fan (I don't own one of those big Boskovsky Boxed Sets -- not yet anyway), I do have J. Strauss CDs by Bernstein, Dorati, Kleiber, Reiner and Walter, and the Ormandy is just as vibrant and joyous as any of the previously mentioned collections. I guess the one thing that does separate the Ormandy from the others is that it is the only one available at budget line. So with this title, you can waltz through the night and still have enough money left for drinks.

This CD to my recollection has not been rated in the Penguin Guide. Its omission from this compendium is regrettable as I must place these renderings of Strauss pieces among the very finest I have ever heard. The trademark CBS/Philiadelphia sonics on the vintage 1950s/1960s recording are superb. Indeed this may be among the finest of CBS's records of the Philadelphia Orchestra that I have ever heard. The Blue Danube Waltz and the Tales of the Vienna Woods tracks demonstrate the nearly unparalleled heights reached in this era by the Philadelphia Orchestra string section. Having heard now nearly 20 years of New Year's Days Concerts as a benchmark for Strauss Family pieces, I can only marvel at how this recording brings forth the sheer excellence and polish of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. Fans of the Strauss Family and Ormandy/Philadelphia will find this CD becoming a reliable favorite .

...slip this recording of Johann Strauss' famous waltzes and polkas as rendered by Ormandy and Orchestra, et al, in your car CD or tape player and step into another world in which that guy in the SUV cutting in front of you does not matter to you much. You know that you've heard these great pieces before (the Blue Danube and the orchestral folk music that seem to wind their way in many movies or commercials). They can alter your mood--to relax mode--even if you are not driving. And the price makes this a terribly great product.

4 out of 5 stars Best rendition of Johann Strauss watzes I have heard.......1999-06-17

If you love Johann Strauss, this is the best version of his waltzes I have heard. The music is both lively and the cd contains many of the classic waltzes we have heard over and over. I am ordering my second cd in case something happens to the first one. I have many classical cd's, but I find myself going back to this one most often.

Boskovsky's encyclopedic collection with the Vienna Philharmonic, recorded between 1957 and 1976, is as close to definitive as one is likely to get. There was a special camaraderie between Boskovsky and the Philharmonic--he was a member of the orchestra's violin section for 37 years and conducted their New Year's Day concerts from 1955 until 1979. There was also a special empathy that these performers, as custodians of a tradition going back to its origins, felt for the music of the Strauss family. It comes across quite wonderfully on these mid-price CDs, which have been painstakingly remastered for an edition every collector should have. --Ted Libbey

        5 out of 5 stars Superb collection.......2006-03-07

If you love or are just curious about the music of Vienna's Strauss family, this is the box set for you. You need look no further. Willi Boskovsky and the Vienna Philharmonic set the standards for the performance of these sublime waltzes, polkas and marches. The sound is fine, too, even though the recordings are not new. This is, quite simply, a magnificent set. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

5 out of 5 stars Boskovsky and the Strauss Family of Vienna........2003-06-12

A long series of Strauss music recordings conducted by Willi Boskovsky provides the contents of this slender, super-compact box of 6 CDs. Those who collected the original issues should check the contents before jettisoning them, because not everything has been reissued here. I especially regret that the vocal version of "An der schönen blauen Donau" has been omitted.

No combination has ever excelled Willi Boskovsky and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in performing this repertoire. Although the waltzes, polkas, quadrilles, marches and overtures were performed over and over again by these musicians, there is never a hint of workaday routine or staleness to be heard here. Everything seems to unfold naturally. Each item's inherent character is displayed. Tiny nuances and felicities of phrasing and a balance that favors the melody and reduces the accompaniment make these performances inimitable. The performance of "Morgenblätter" seems to provide a tad more excitement and impact than the other 85 items.

The recordings were made between 1960 and 1976. They are studio recordings, not deriving from the famous New Year concerts, and all but the few items from the very earliest year provide excellent sound.

5 out of 5 stars superb Berg, superb Boulez.......2005-08-26

This is yet another recording that I am finally getting around to hearing on the occasion of Pierre Boulez's 80th birthday year, a superb entry in Sony's PIERRE BOULEZ series, with Boulez leading the New York Philharmonic. The most surprising aspect to me is finding that the "Lulu Suite" is mainly instrumental! Only one movement of five features Judith Blegen's soprano, the "Song of Lulu." So the main vocal feature on the disc is Jessye Norman's soprano on "The Wine," which sets to music verses of Baudelaire from "Les Fleurs du mal."

All three works use the 12-tone system created by Schoenberg. Berg is widely seen as the most listener-friendly of the Second Vienna School, and this music, while not as accessible as Mahler, has dramatic contours and lush orchestration that confirm that reputation. The story of the "Lulu Suite" is worth repeating -- Berg could not get the opera "Lulu" performed, as it was banned by the Nazis as "degenerate art." The suite was slipped past the censors by Erich Kleiber, who conducted the first performance in Berlin on November 30th, 1934. "Lulu" was left incomplete by Berg at his death in 1935, and parts of Act III existed with full scoring only in the "Suite." Friedrich Cerha only reconstructed the complete "Lulu" years later, and Boulez conducted the complete version for the first time in 1979, which was recorded, and was just reissued by DG.

"The Wine" was written concurrently with "Lulu," and not surprisingly the music is roughly similar, with Weill-like jazz elements, so it fits perfectly with the "Suite." Finally, the orchestral arrangement of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th movements of the "Lyric Suite," Berg's 12-tone string quartet, provides a fascinating contrast to the chamber version. A hidden love song, the "Lyric Suite" is famously the musical story of the unconsummated romance between the married Berg and a married woman. The Adagio appassionato, originally the fourth movement, here becomes the last movement, and so the work ends with tragic love in full flower, whereas in the full string quartet, the last two movements represent the parting and resignation that follow.

A gem, another splendid contribution by Boulez to spreading the word of the Second Vienna School, the cornerstone of modern music!

5 out of 5 stars Faster than Karajan, but with equal understanding.......2002-07-14

A wonderful Lulu suite. An exquisite Der Wein. And selections from the Lyric Suite done to perfection. Indeed a stellar Berg disc. I was used to the Lyric Suite pieces in the Karajan version (still not to be missed)with their languid and lush textures, but Boulez is just as good in his own way if more up-tempo. Highly recommendable.

        5 out of 5 stars Powerful Expressionism.......2000-12-28

This is gut-wrenching stuff. Berg's music may be complex, but the impact of pieces like these is immediate and powerful. This recording of the Lulu-Suite, one of Berg's last pieces, is particularly startling--those who call Pierre Boulez' conducting "cold" have probably never heard this disc. I have hardly been more satisfied with any disc of classical music than I have with these performances.

5 out of 5 stars A Lustrous Journey of Sight and Sound.......2006-07-30

(July 27, 2006) - It is said that "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." I believe every word of that. Had someone asks me 5-6+ years ago what I think about this album, then as one whose music tastes were in Pop/Rock/Alternative, my first and only response would be that "It is boring, and it puts me to sleep!" No disrespect intended for the artists, but shame on me for my ignorance. Now, an avid listener of the New Age/World/Celtic genres for the last 4-5 years, I have a deeper appreciation for music in these categories and my answer will be very different. And having said that...

This beautiful, outstanding album was composed by gifted composer and extraordinary multi-instrumentalist, Diane Arkenstone, whose great talents have forever changed my perspectives of music. Before, music was just another form of background noise and really didn't have much meaning to it. It now evokes the senses with majestic visions and reaches into the soul with its heartfelt soothing, healing sounds. "Reflections from the Wine Country" was the first album that brought such sights and feelings to me. Diane masterfully illustrated the beauty of the vineyard through these delicate soundscapes with tracks like "Morning Mist," "Echoes of Tuscany" and the heart-stirring "The Hills At Sunset." In addition to enjoying these canvases, one is also invited to celebrate the different seasons on the vineyard with "The Spring Rose," "A Taste of Summer" and the awe-inspiring "The Breath of Autumn." My favorite track is "A Gentle Rain"--one can almost feel the raindrops dappling on the leaves and enjoy the refreshing sensations that the rain brings--it is exuberant feeling!

This is now one of my favorite CDs in my music collection. I would play it just about every Sunday afternoon; and no, I do not fall asleep to it. The lesson learned was that it sometimes will take a second time around for true beauty to be recognized and appreciated. Each listen brings new experience and exciting adventure. Fall in love with the music--guided by piano, woodwinds, strings, percussion and guitar--as Diane and her ensemble bring to life the beauty of this magnificent land.
