This may be 2004's biggest sleeper album, but wake up to it and be overwhelmingly rewarded.

A disapointment.......2001-04-28

I purchased this CD based on the rave reviews written here and from what I have heard The Indulgers are a great live band. Unfortunately that doesn't come across on this CD. The mix sounds flat and the players (apart from the fiddler who is excellent) sound uninspired and bored. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad CD it just isn't one that you want to pull out and play over and over again. There is potential here and I will probably get their second release "Tan & Black". But there are so many other bands working in the genre that are doing much more interesting stuff: The Killdares, Flogging Molly, Black 47, Saw Doctors, Seven Nations, Great Big Sea, The Mahones to name a few. I would recommend someone starting with those bands rather than this CD.

Fresh aire from the lands of the Celt.......2000-09-13

At the Scottish Irish Festival in Estes Park, I chanced upon this band performing in an out of the way tent, and the enchantment not only captured my imagination, but also my heart in their music. Every song is a delight. The recording is well mixed and sure to get your feet tapping down to your soul!

Colorado Celtic Music Ready To Make Mark On World!.......2000-08-24

There isn't anything quite like seeing a rousing celtic band cut loose with a song that gets the blood flowing and the feet tapping. The people are singing along and the beer flows quite nicely. Everyone is guaranteed a good time! ...and that is what you get when you listen to The Indulger's "In Like Flynn", a CD you won't want to take off the old player until you have had a good case of the jigs! If you have the opportunity to see this band live I recommend you don't hesitate! They can be seen in parts of Colorado or in Las Vegas Nevada at the Regent Resort every other month or so. If you live too far away than the next best thing is to buy a copy of "In Like Flynn"...I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Flynn-tastic.......2004-07-04

Well, before I go too far I have to add a disclaimer: I wholeheartedly admit that I am so sold on the entire L.A. Symphony crew that I could not possibly make an unbiased review of anything they have ever done. That said it is their unbelievable ability to make intelligent (yes!), thought provoking yet dancable hip hop along with refreshing wit and creativity that has won my undying allegiance. And this album just heaps more greatness onto an already extensive and impressive body of work (14 fresh albums in about 6 years). Holy smokes! Usually it takes me a few listens to warm up to even the dopest material, but by the second listen I was ready to give In Like Flynn the title of "greatest hip hop album ever." I mean it. Crazy beats, sometimes playful, sometimes deeply personal lyrics, and that unspeakable LA Symph vibe, mmmmmm. I know that the mainstream is so busy regurgitating each other's crap that this wont hit the big time, but for an album that will make you believe that hip hop is indeed alive and well, at least in some circles, pick this up. Hip hop fans will not be disappointed.
