Set in dark, slickened streets and populated by a stellar ensemble cast, this adaptation of Frank Miller's hard-edged, film noir inspired graphic novels plays like comic-book-come-to-life—not surprising, as Miller is credited as Robert Rodriguez's co-director (with a bit of help from Quentin Tarantino). The soundtrack to this bleak, compelling exercise in pure noir stylism is provided mostly by director Rodriguez, with an occasional assist from past collaborators John Debney (Spy Kids and its sequel) and Graeme Revell (From Dusk Til Dawn). While their largely synth-driven cues tend naturally towards brooding atmospheric soundscapes, their tense electro-rhythms are seasoned with bracing doses of sinewy, sensual sax and dotted with the occasional bongo flourish, details that musically evoke both a shadowy humanity and the film's genre-savvy roots. Also featuring disparate, yet wholly integrated contributions from techno-house savants Fluke (the hypnotic "Absurd") and 20th century Mexican classicist Silvestre Revueltas, it's the sinister flipside to the future-jazz sheen of Vangelis' classic Blade Runner.--Jerry McCulley

3 out of 5 stars trailer music.......2006-08-06

i listened to the servant song and i know everyone said its pretty well known that that is the song they used in the trailer, but if you listen to "broken chairs" by built to spill it really sounds like parts of the trailer music too. and its also a good song. so i would recommend trying that as well!

5 out of 5 stars Great!.......2006-01-17

Now, i loved the movie, but the soundtrack blew me away! all the songs fit the movie perfectly. However, it is missing the instrumental version of "Cells" by the Servants, which plays on the DVD title menu
so, here you go:

Instrumental Version!
Have Fun

3 out of 5 stars sin city.......2005-09-30

Is a very good soundtrack because i think that Robert Rodriguez has made a great choice with the composers and his own musical composition

While the previous reviwer was correct that Cells the trailer song is not on the soundtrack, Servant did indeed create an instrumental version and you can obtain it at this link follow the instructions it is at the Servant website so its legal and its for a limited time only!

4 out of 5 stars An addendum to "FangsFirst" comment.......2005-09-16

FangsFirst is absoluty correct -- trailer music is almost never on the movie's soundtrack. An interesting additional bit of trivia, however; almost all trailer themes ARE from a movie soundtrack, just from a DIFFERENT movie than the one the trailer is for!

So if you're looking for "Cells" by The Servant (the song from the Sin City trailer), take a look at the soundtrack to Transporter 2. You'll find it along with another song by The Servant. "Cells" does have lyrics to it (which aren't on the Sin City trailer), but it's still a damned good song.

Just thought I'd share that with everybody.

5 out of 5 stars Psychopathic is yo ghetto neighbor!.......2007-05-18

This was a great album, as a debut and as an album alone, ABK (Anybody Killa) can write some good stuff, while some might be irritated by his lisped vocal, he is unique as is Blaze and Twiztid, furthermore preventing the notion of a boring ICP clone. His native american serial killer personality is original and even his make up design is probably the coolest of any of them. The album features samples from the classic 1979 cult film The Warriors (as does ICP's Beverly Kills in it's opening), but here the first 5 songs are the best, Close Call while brief makes a huge impact, whilst does Kill Me, solidifying ABK's challenging killer attitude, and as on most Psychopathic albums, this one takes off following it's openers, the one two punch of Sticky Icky Situations and Ya Nedens Haunted, the true highlights, while Violent J's verses are a little lame, the music makes up for it. Ghetto Neighboor and it's guitar laden chorus are classic, as are the uniquely dramatic While You're Sleeping, Hated Me, and the heavy Now You Know, the album takes a dip in momentum in some small bits, but comes back for another highlight, Gang Related. Interesting note: ABK does a cover of the Joe Walsh/Eagles song In The City which concludes the album, just as the original plays for the end credits of the Warriors. Check out the Hatchet Warrior and his shxt, it won't disappoint.

4 out of 5 stars Solid debut for ABK........2007-04-05

First off let me just say that I am probably Mike Puwal's toughest critic out there, but in my opinion he actually did a decent job producing this one. Songs like Kill Me, ya Nedens Haunted and Gang Related all have pretty good beats to them. Ghetto Neighbor has a really lame chorus and a medicore beat, but Monoxide saves that song. Blaze has great guest appearances especially on Foo Dang. Some songs however, like While You Were Sleeping, Hated Me and In The City, totally blow. Overall, this is a solid album, but by far not a great one.

5 out of 5 stars FOO DANG.......2006-05-04

this is a great cd let me tell you. i have all of his cds even the ones in the days when he was kickin it with the krazy klan. but this is my favorite abk. it has my favorite song by him...sticky icky situations. i love this song, we used to play it all the time at school. its a juggalo anthem. also has the hilarious song...your nedens haunted, great song, still cracks me up. other great ones are gang related, ghetto neighbor, etc... a must buy for all juggalos so go and pick it up. real underground baby. MCL to all the juggalo family

4 out of 5 stars 4.25 STARS.......2006-04-13

This album is really good. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did, i really liked this album. Some of my favourite songs are "Kill Me", "Hated Me", "If You Don't Know" & "Gang Related". I recommend this to all juggalos, but i recommend that you buy a Dark Lotus album before you buy an ABK solo album to get a bit of a taste of ABK's style, because alot of people seem to dislike ABK's style.

MCL.
