Solid, if not spectacular debut.......2004-04-06

Walk into any Sam Goody or Media Play and you will find racks full of independent rap artists with cheesy bling-bling covers or nasty hoes posing on some classic car. The content in these albums doesn't go much deeper than what the cover shows. With that being said, many female MC's don't deviate from shedding their clothes and rhyming to cheaply produced, classes lyrics. Such is not the case of Passion, a little known and more than likely forgotten rap starlet with plenty of talent to spare. Upon receiving this CD, I was skeptical of Passion's abilities, but was soon converted upon hearing the funky, mellow West Coast beats and Passion's articulate, no-nonsense raps. Another great suprise was Passion's ability to sing. Much like Missy Elliot, Passions vocal ability is tremendous, but nonetheless very raw and unrefined. For an independent release, Passion's debut album has top of the line beats. They ride smoothly along with her prodigous rapping and quiet storm voice. In essence, her vocal prowess is a combination of Monica, Missy Elliot, and Monifah.

Every song is a classic West Coast jam. Many tracks run for about 3 to four minutes, and Passion's album is devoid of the raunchy stupid interludes that plague many a hip-hop album. Apparently, no one has heard from Passion since her debut. Once again, promotional focus must have been on other artists signed to MCA.

Passions album Baller's Lady is an excellent debut crafted with thumping beats, sensuous lyrics, and Passions empowering attitude. She may be a baller's lady, but she is Queen of her streets. If she is wise, she will drop another hot album and leave the hip hop landscape devoid of such B-list acts as Lil' Kim and other overproduced hussies.

cool album..........2003-10-09

This is a cool album! I bought this in '96 when it came out. Every song on here is great. My only complaint is that a few of the songs are too short and could've been longer. Best songs found on here are: "Baller's Lady," "Fhonky Ride," "Take You On A Natural High," and "Gotta Be Da Bomb." There appears to be a few guest rappers on here including: B-Legit, E-40, Rappin' 4-Tay and Too Short. Get this CD if you like rap combined with hip hop R&B.

baller's lady is tight.......2003-10-03

This is a very good CD! Not a bad song on here! This album, along with her 2 singles "Where I'm From" and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too" were pretty popular and sold fairly well in '96. However, her 2nd album didn't reach the same success, nor was it as good as her first. Stand out tracks are: "Where I'm From," "Gigolos Get Lonely," "Baller's Lady" (feat. E-40), and "Fhonky Ride" (feat. B-Legit). Those who arent willing to give this CD a try are sure missing out on some good music!

This CD is a must have! every song on here is well worth the listen. She can rap and sing very well. My only complaint is that I think a few of the songs could've been a little longer. They seem to end right when i'm just enjoying the song. The longest running song is "Gigolos Get Lonely." I also wished that "Where I'm From" (da song mix) had been included as another bonus track. "Baller's Lady," "Where I'm From" and "Gigolos Get Lonely" are basically the highlights off the album.
Her second CD is nowhere near as good as her first; Baller's Lady. I highly recommend this CD for any hip hop or music fan of all genres. Get this today!

great album.......2003-02-21

This album knocks, and if you enjoy this one you'll probably enjoy her second album, Blame it on the game. I advise u to check it out.
