My Personal Favorite Recording of Classic Hymns.......2007-03-30

If I was stuck on an deserted island with only one CD to choose from, this would be it. When I was going through chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, this collection (a cassette at the time) kept my spirits up and aided in my healing. Listen to these excerpts and taste and see how truly good this glorious music is.

A Perfect Mix.......2006-12-14

The most difficult aspect of finding a good choral CD is the mix. Hymns Triumphant is fantastic.

With the opening riff of the very first song it is clear these guys worship at the altar of Solitude Aeturnus. As with their idols, Doomshine present Epic Doom Metal of the highest quality with waves of crushing riffs laced with excellent guitar solos; and while the lead singer here is no Robert Lowe (who can match him, really?) he is nonetheless a solid performer with plenty of talent. This worship is definitely a good thing as I adore Epic Doom Metal when it is done well. And Doomshine do it very well, indeed! The greatest single aspect of this release is that the songcraft has so much depth that the music becomes more enthralling with each spin of the CD. This makes the return value for this album exemplary. With Solitude Aeturnus releasing a fantastic album of their own entititled "Alone", fans of Epic Doom Metal should be overjoyed with the darkness being offered up these days. "Thy Kingdom Come" is intelligent, emotional, and pulled off with all the mastery of their heroes. Superb! Running time: (57:38)

Great doom.......2005-04-15

this is a great traditional epic doom album, good riffs, good melody, some good clean guitar portions and good epic vocals that do not reach annoying pitches. this album has a dark sullen feel, but they manage to sound like something more than simply a Candlemass rip off, with hard pounding riffs, the occational harmonic minor passage, and the not so operiatic vocals. i didn't even realize this was an import, i picked it up in a local shop here in new jersey, so i guess this won't be getting that much press, but it should. Doomshine are really a band to watch out for, one of the best german doom acts.

Does ANYONE know why Dre never released this on Aftermath???
Dudes, this is a tight cd with Dre's masterpiece beats. Why on earth would Dre put so much work into a kickass cd, pay King T to Rap, and never release the cd?!!!

Much respect to Dre and all, but WTF???. It's got a similar feel to Chronic 2001. This is 100% Dr.Dre before he started producing for East Coast rappers. Definitely more of a West coast feel than his previous works, including with Snoop.

Oh yeah, and King T kills the mic too!

a lost gem.......2005-11-18

You have to wonder why Aftermath decided to not release this. There's not a single mis-step on the entire disc. From the opening track, the blistering "Speak On It" (one of 8 Dr. Dre produced tracks), to the closer "The Original", King Tee sounds as good as he ever has on top of the best beats he ever had the fortune of rhyming to. The soundtracks provided by Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, Battlecat, Ant Banks, etc. give the King the perfect sound for his O.G. narratives. Old school fans of his will be a little suprised by his sudden fascination with Cristal,ice, & things of that nature, but he doesn't go too overboard with those references. It's also fascinating to hear him shout out screw music, considering it's growing current popularity, since this was recorded so many years ago. Overall, this is worth it, if for no other reason than for Dre beats you never heard before (with the exception of "6 N'Na Moe'nin" which Dre re-used for LL's "Zoom"). Also some thorough cameos from Too Short, Dre, MC Ren, Kool G. Rap, Shaq & others. Pick it up.

King T is back! .......2005-07-19

This album was origionally supposed to have dropped on Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, but unfortunatly this never got through and the album ended up recieving far too little attention.

The album is bangin, with production from Fred Wreck, Dr. Dre, Battlecat, DJ Quik (!),Budda and Mike Dean.
And with other appearences consisting of Ice-T, Playa Hamm, MC Ren, Baby S, El DeBarge, Frost, Tray Deee, Too Short and Shaq there os no shortage of top-notch side artists either!

This is a must-have for any westcoast rap fan...

I have listened to Thy Kingdom Come many times, and had the privilege of singing Thy Kingdom Come with Steve Fry during the Feast of Tabernacles in Israel in 2004. This is a powerful worship experience, not just an album to be lstened to.

The musical quality of this album is outstanding. I highly recommend it!
