What a beat.......2004-10-16

I love the beat on the song it has a great dance feel but where is that Flow of the Nile Fat Joe man we want that back.

Funk It Up!.......2004-04-15

Freshwater Collins dons one of the most unique sounds today, local or national; part blues, part rock, part funk, part shut-up-get-up-and-dance. This mixture makes them an unbelievably fun live show, and some of that energy transfers into Lean Back.
The album has an incredible 1-2-3 punch with "Remains Like This", "Bound" and "Step On In". Sadly, the energy drops off a bit, leaving you unsatisfied with a hunger that could only be satisfied by seeing them live.
You have to laugh at the band's sense of humor leaving the "(False Start)" track on the album. Many of the remaining songs (Roll Away The Haze, Always Knew, Broken Glass, Disable Me, Water) demonstrate the versatility of the group within their self-invented genre, with Chris Vos' emotional wails, Thumper Vos' inventive and wandering bass, since-replaced Fatboy Gulotta's solos and Anthony Olson drumming like an Animal.
Again, many of these songs serve as templates for live performances, to which I have been to around 20. *Go see this band live if you get the chance* - you will not be disappointed.

Get the funk out!.......2004-01-19

Only once in about 50 years does funk of this caliber come around to tickle the collective fancies of a new generation. This is funk that sticks to your ribs like doodie on the wall. This is funk that cuts through your soul like Jack the Ripper. And it is a crime against humanity that this seminal band from Milwaukee has not yet acheived East Coast representation. And Lean Back I Will.......2004-01-19

While Collins' previous albums were tours de force of rockin' funk ephoria, Lean Back takes it down a notch, with several songs at the pace of sex. The musical growth rate of this band is so high it cannot be charted, and you can be damn sure that future albums will continue to show why this band from Milwaukee is on its way to being nationally known for being the future of funk.

Rock muscle with Funk Bounce.......2003-05-20

Rock, Funk, and Bues collide to create this hard as hell music hybrid. From the opening track "Remains Like This" the album kicks you ...and forces you nod your head. You hear alot of influence in this bad but originality through out. These up and comers are leading a revolt on the candy rock, rap/rock recycleables, and awakes the zombies hovering around the jam band scene. If there is any band out there who puts their money where their mouth is,it is this band. They bring not only the funk but the guts to re-educate a new breed of rock fans for years to come.

One of those Cuts that was on Point for the Summer.Fat Joe held it down on the flow even though He is trying hard to channel Biggie.catchy cut&you can Bop your Head to it.

What's all the hype about?.......2004-11-20

There's not much to "Lean Back". It's just another track that's been way over-hyped by all the hip-pop fans. Fat Joe isn't a terrible MC, but the rest of the Terror Squad couldn't hold it's own since the rap world lost Big Pun. The beat sounds like a Lil' Jon wannabe - east coast rap meets crunk from the south. It doesn't work! This is just a below-average track that was way played-out for it's own good, and I don't believe the Terror Squad will be able to re-create a hit like "Lean Back".
