1 out of 5 stars EVEN DA COVER ART IS WACK.......2007-06-03

I REMEMBER COPING "DA SUN RISES IN DA EAST" WHEN I WAS 16,BOY DID I BANG
THAT ALBUM. AFTER JUST LISTENING TO HIS SINGLE "COME CLEAN" I WAS READY
TO DECLARE JERU AS MY FAVORITE EMCEE.THINGS CHANGED SINCE THEN.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS LP IS GARBAGE--THE LYRICS,BEATS,THE COVER ART,EVEN
THE TITLE IS WACK--"HEROZ4HIRE?" TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY SOME MATERIAL FROM
THIS ALBUM WAS BITTEN! CHECK THE TRACK "SENFEILD" WERE THEY BIT DA HOOK FROM
KRS-ONE! NOW GOING BACK TO THE COVER ART,THEY DREW MIZMARVEL TOO MUCH
LIKE STORM--I SEE COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENTS.

4 out of 5 stars Theres no way you can call this a weak album.......2005-12-17

How can you even say that this album is weak, especailly with tracks like 5, 6, 7, especailly 9, and 10. I haven't listened to Jeru's other albums, but I know this stuff is good.

2 out of 5 stars (2+half) very little SUPA about this KLICK.......2005-02-17

In my opinion this is defintely JERU's weakest effort so far out his 4 albums. Granted there was no dj premier this time, but surely with his respect+contacts within the game he could've found someone that could've AND would've done a better job with the production. Apart from 5 tracks where JERU did an excellent (+somewhat suprising) job the remainder are just plain wack, as far as production. However, as with all JERU's tracks, the lyrics are dynamite. His ability to spit hard yet thought provoking rhymes make him what he is. As far as MIZMARVEL, i'd say she's ok but would've prefered if she hadn't got an amazing "3 solo tracks" out of the 12 on here. JERU himself is only on 9 joints in total. Thankfully JERU has learned from this experience+didnt handle any of the production or have any guests on his follow up to this, "divine design", and the result is much better. Not the worst you'll hear but i suppose 1 "blip" in 4 albums is alright.

If you're looking for Premier, then go and get a GANGSTARR album. The beats on this album are rare, fresh, and innovative. The lyrics need no comment--if you've heard Jeru before than you know that he's on a level that, for some reason, are only appreciated by a few. Miss Marvel is, without a doubt, one of the top 5 females I've ever heard. Those that think she needs to work the "kinks out", obviously are not listening to the lyrics.

1 out of 5 stars Another artist goes downhill.......2002-06-20

I've been complaining about the decline of the music industry in general for years, but I could always take solace in a few artists who transcended the mindless, monotonous, commercial sludge that's been getting churned out. Jeru the Damaja was one of those artists. He's one of my two favorite rappers (the other being Aceyalone) and his first two LPs, "the Sun Rises in the East" and "Wrath of the Math" are two shining examples of his unique brilliance.

But "Heroz4hire" is absolutely atrocious. The lyrics have slipped into potty level intellect, the beats are poor, and the overall message is almost completely devoid of any meaning as compared with the arrogant yet effective preachiness Jeru used to present. I don't know what happened to the guy since "Wrath," but I'd actually rather listen to most mainstream rappers than I would anything he put out on this recording, which is saying a lot.

The one small consolation which helps restore my faith in Jeru's potential for greatness is the opening track on "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)" by Groove Armada - a [fittingly] groovy 6+ minute offering called "Suntoucher" featuring Jeru himself (and BY himself) on vocals. Hopefully his next recording will reflect the quality of this track. Otherwise he's cut from the team.
