food for your ears.......2005-03-19
After reviewing this I was really impressed by the entire album. Shock G's new style, beats, and lyrics are nothing like anything I've heard of before. His flows consist of conscious lyrics in addition to very humorous tracks. It makes you think and laugh. It's positive feelgood music. I just love it.
Evolution of Digital Underground.......2005-01-19
Digital Underground's front man has been secretly elvolving with Rap for over a decade and a half. His production style, his lyrics, and his flow all have matured into socially conscious work of smooth beats and provoking lyrics. If you want the Humpty Dance, go back to Sex Packets. If you want a contemporary Hip Hop, it's definatly worth checking out.

have no fear.......2006-06-07
Probably one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Shock really came with this one. Funny thing is that it's basically a D.U. record... but aren't all D.U. records really Shock G records anyway? Touche.
This CD brought me back to the Shock G I knew and loved. Funk that only Shock could bring, beautifully mixed with his style of hip-hop and soul.
Every track doesn't disapoint and my man Humpty Hump makes a cameo on a couple joints. The only problem I had with the disc is that two of the songs had the same beat, but the beat's dope anyway.
This is a very solid release and a dope addition to your D.U. library.
Fear of a Great record.......2004-09-12
I have been a fan of Digital Underground and Shock G since their first full length album Sex Packets came in in 1989. Now some 15 years later, Shock is back with probably his best work yet.
This record brings in a number of guest MC's as did most of his work with DU, and Shock utilizes them to the fullest.
Tracks like Perfect Life featuring the up and coming group Element is a local college radio favorite (at least where I'm at).
The beats, Rhymes and production value on Fear of a Mixed Planet are great. Shock can go from a smooth flowing Cherry Flava'd Email to more traditional sounding Your Sun iza Pimp.
Shock's diversity is his gift. Nothing out there today sounds like FOAMP.
On top of the versatile sounds, is a very distinct social commentary. On the track My Opinion feat. Numbskull of the Luniz, nothing is sacred from the homeless to George W.
Obviously Shock has continued working over the years despite the masses not hearing from him, because this record is great. If you're a Digital Underground fan, definately check this one out, because Money B and Humpty Hump make several appearances on the album. Even if you're not a DU fan, check this record out anyway, the smooth flowing beats and rhymes will keep your head bobbing for days.
Shock is a true artist that obviously makes music for the love of the music.
The Heart and Soul of Digital Underground Lives Again.......2004-09-11
Talk about an excellent release from an underated genius in the hip hop world. For those not familiar, Shock G was the driving force behind Digital Underground. Though many never listnened much further than the Humpty Dance or Kiss You Back, Digital Undeground had many strong releases past their debut. 2Pac may have been one of the most popular members to have metriculated from the Undeground, but Shock G was the glue that continued to cement the 5 (6) previous releases.
Those that enjoyed the underground will find the feel is alive and well. The sound has improved (as if that were possible) and the lyrics are even more clever than before. If you don't want to think or want some commercial radio release, perhaps you should pick up the new Mase release. No offense, but it is a pity that that brother is able to hit it big with one or two "GREAT" tracks on a disc while Shock has released a superb disc with only one or two "good" tracks (with everything else being superb!!).
In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with this disc. It continues to hit the fan on many levels. The music is tight and the lyrics are sharp. What a wicked combination indeed!

very good. and long awaited.
this album was refreshing to say the least, it doesnt sound like everything else that is coming out nowadays in terms of hip hop. i just picked it up today, and listened through non stop a few times. many featured artists, which isnt necessarily bad but isnt great either. im guessing most fans would have wanted a litle more shock and a little less guest spots, but the guest appearances still dont take away from the CD. i liked it, you probably will too.
p.s. the first and fourth tracks are incredible.
buy it.
highly slept on solo artist - shock g is one of the best.......2004-08-12
this album is off the wall and this is for the pure d.u. fans and just fans of good music alike. though the group have not released anything commercially successful since sex packets and sons of the p, this album should ensure that digital underground stays in peoples head until the group returns to rule the airwaves again. tracks to check for: "keep it beautiful", "fear of a mixed planet", "wee some hustlers"featuring humpty himself and "cinnamon waves". dont be scared. pick it up and take a chance. one luv ya'll.
