The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews

Hip-hop sidekicks are all the rage. Everyone's got a crew, and now that rap entrepreneurs are burning through cash like they're Silicon Alley venture capitalists, anyone can get a chance at the show. Lil' Cease, former front-puppy for Biggie Smalls protégé Junior M.A.F.I.A., has finally got his shot, some five years after "Player's Anthem" introduced him to the world. Familiar hooks abound on The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo--BDP's "Super Hoe" on "Mr.Nasty," and Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express" on "4 My Niggaz," most notably. As an MC, Cease borrowed little from Biggie apart from a jones for weed and sex: his storytelling is sloppy and crude, a second-rate flow that wouldn't have seen the light of day when BDP originally released "Super Hoe." But in the hip-hop-as-dance category, Lil Cease's wonderful world is filled with guilty, thought-free pleasures. --Jon Caramanica

2 out of 5 stars Lil'Cease - The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo.......2007-06-11

Lil' Cease (A.K.A. James Lloyd) debut album was "The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo" (1999). Lil'Cease was a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A. (Junior Masters At Finding Intelligent Attitudes), a nine member Brooklyn group (Notorious B.I.G., Lil'Cease, Chico, Nino Brown, Larceny, Trife, MC Klepto, Lil Kim & Michael Mcdonald) which was founded and led by the late great Notorious B.I.G. who was killed in 1997. Outside of Biggie, the only Junior M.A.F.I.A. member to blow up on the music scene on solo was Lil Kim. After the short intro, Lil'Cease gets the album started with a grimy street track in "More Dangerous" collaborating with Busta Rhymes, Mr. Bristal & G-Dep. On "Get Out Of Our Way" feat. Puff Daddy & Blake C, Cease rhymes "Ever since I was a little rascal I never was bashful" which may explain the album art. "Future Sport" is a fast paced track which features appearances from Redman, Mr. Bristal & Joe Hooker. Lil'Cease slows things backed by a bouncy beat on the upbeat "Looking for a Lady" feat. Blake C. Bristal, Larceny & Lil'Cease team up for a lackluster cut in "Long Time Comin", while Cease lyrics don't do much for "Girlfriend" feat. Kelly Price. The lead single "Play You" feat. Lil Kim, Mr. Bristal & Joe Hooker reminds me of a watered down version of Black Rob's "I Dare You". R & B crooner is enlisted for the subpar "Chickenheads", while Jay-Z, Blake C & Bristal drop in for the average "4 My N*****". The next couple of track's get worse and worse, hurting lyrics matched with subpar beats result in skip material. The closer "Everything" is a better track, Lil'Cease dedicates a track to the Notorious, talking to him and remembering growing up with him, backed by a smooth chorus from 112. Album closes with some short clips of Biggie Freestyles. "The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo" won't go down as a memorable release, I would only recommend it Junior M.A.F.I.A. fans.

1 out of 5 stars Are You Kidding Me?.......2005-10-05

Okay, I must admit that I prejudged this cd before I ever listened to it.
But then I listened to it and now I know why.
IT'S SO COMPLETELY WACK.
If anyone could take hot garbage and put it to music,
it would be this guy.
I'm sure Biggie would be so ashamed to know that
his name is even mentioned on this CD.
Take a listen to that last track again.
LOL! He actually thinks that we're impressed by him playing samples
of Big Poppa dissing him every chance he had.
"Throw the keys to Lil Cease to pull the truck up front"
"Cease know all his h@e$ go to my door, then they go to his floor to f&*# some more"
Wow. And this makes you a good old fashioned yes man.
The only thing close to this mess,
is the other hip hop son-of-a-true-artist Memphis Bleek.
Sidekicks are definitely not what's hot.
I'll tell you what,
customers should be compensated for even allowing this trash to be a part of their collection.

4 out of 5 stars Most Slept On.......2005-04-24

Cease put out a great album and everybody just went ahead and judged it without listening to what he had so say and what his beats where like. Great album, and one that even Dr. Dre himself says is one of the most slept on albums of all time.

1 out of 5 stars WHY!!!.......2003-12-25

This is the wackest cd to date, why did cease do it to himself.
