Customer Reviews:
Pitch purrrrfect-o-mundo!.......2005-04-05
Dudeley "the Dude" Perkins is striving to hit the perfect note in this album, and hit it he does! ( i think some weed was smoked when this album was produced:)) I cried on nearly every song when his dolcet musical croonings slid inside my eardrums and poured a little bit of honey into my brain. Except when he sung about the nuclear wars becuase thinking about this hot topic just simply makes my blood boil! In many ways Dudely is the same guy as Justin Timberflake but he's not. As for the beats, well I cant wait for Madlib to work with Dudely, I'm sure it would be even better than this filthy blend of grimy, dusty tunes. Dudeley, when are you going to learn that what you do best is sing? Get off the beat conducting pedastool and move over for some one like jaylab or anyone from the c3pee (madvillain im talking about you!) crew to conduct your beats!
Ill Beats Bad mc, 3 Stars for Madlib.......2005-03-16
I bought this cd because I saw that Madlib produced it. However, I think that Madlib wasted some of his best beats on Dudley. His voice gets in the way. His repetitive statements are nauseating. This album is only good after smoking a blunt to the face. Music should not require drugs
I LUV THIS ALBUM !!.......2004-08-07
I bought this CD after I heard a track from it on a local college station. After the first listen, I liked 3 tracks and didn't really get the rest of it that much. Now I don't smoke much, but I happen to flip this plastic in the player one night to fall asleep by after smoking for relaxxin, and suddenly, I GOT IT ALL !! It has amazing creativity and energy, and yes, like they said above, incredible flow. I'll take this over the pop-chart hip hop crap ANY DAY !!! I love this album ! Hope to hear more from Dudley and would love to see him live in SF,CA.
A Grimey Griot for the 21st C.......2003-09-27
Madlib lays down some extraordinarily grimey beats for this blessed-out brotha from anotha motha. There is NOTHING else that sounds like this, and it might be too experimental for some folks. Nevertheles, anyone who likes hip hop that dares to be different and true at the same time needs to check this ish out. Think Outkast mixed with ODB, Sun Ra, Gil-Scott H. and a dash of Primo thrown in and you peep the crazy steelo here. If you tire of Dudley P's nasal flow (which I haven't) seek out the instrumentals on vinyl.
Morphine.......2003-08-28
It's like ODB and Busta Rhymes had a baby and fed it too much morphene.....The result was the future sound of Hip Hop. This album probably should've come out in the year 2020. A fusion of Jazz, Blues, Soul, and Hip Hop. You can't label this album with a genre, cuz it's in a class of it's own.
Dudley sings way off key but has an amazing flow that's never been heard before. Listen twice and you'll be captivated. There is something unearthly yet so earthly about his voice, lyrics, and of course the beats, produced by none other than Madlib. This album is essential to anyone who Puffs the Magic Dragon.....Yes It's that Stoney. It's amazing, nothing less, It'll make you beleive in time travel
We should all thank Dudly Perkins for coming back from the future to save music
