5 out of 5 stars He was totally awsome!...........2007-08-01

The "Pac-ker", as I like to call him was so awsome! I loved when he played a cop w/Jim Belushi too! Anyway, his hip-hoppin stylings were a little too urban at times for me, but I loved his moxie for recording tons of stuff that could later be sold to the faithfull. Viva-America, Viva Capitalism!
:) Peace Out Y'all!

3 out of 5 stars Not top-knotch Pac.......2007-05-13

Decent price, came on time. Don't expect this CD to be as good as the other 2Pac albums.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good I Guess.......2007-04-26

Loyal To The Game is alright, I just felt Eminem used too much of his own style when he made the actual music though

Crooked N***a Too (remix), and Loyal To The Game (DJ Quick remix) were better though, they were more 2Pac's style

All in all, It's alright.

4 out of 5 stars HOW DO U KNOW THAT?.......2007-04-01

How DO you really know that 2Pac wouldn't roll with Eminem and 50 Cent? I mean he sure as hell wouldn't roll with the imposer of himself, Ja Rule!

But anyway, this release from Amaru/Interscope records really surpassed some of the Pac's after-death material that has been being released recently. While seemingly stronger than "Pac's Life" and other crap that's been coming out, it doesn't seem to surpass his own actual album when he was still alive, but then again, you have to give props to Em in creating a still dope album.

While some of the rhymes seem screwed with and Pac's voice is enhanced to say "G-Unit" and such on a certain track, Eminem's style and production is what keeps people listening...see, what most people don't know or recognize is that Shady is just as good of a producer of beats as he is and emcee.

It is definitely a much better choice than the lame and falsely-acclaimed flop, "Pac's Life".

Cameos include Eminem, G-Unit, Nate Dogg, the Outlawz, Sleepy Brown, Big Syke and many more...

Top Songs:
1.) Ghetto Gospel feat. Elton John
2.) A Crooked N***a Too
3.) Do For Love
4.) Out on Bail
5.) Black Cotton feat. Eminem, Kastro, and Young Noble

2 out of 5 stars The third murder of Tupac.......2006-12-14

What was Afeni thinking when she let Eminem executive produce this whole album? His beats are zany and painful to the ears and sometimes his beats sound like just plain noise. Its bad enough Em screws up his songs with crummy beats and has him saying G-unit and Shady but to put him on tracks with Elton John(Em's boytoy), G-unit and Obie Trice? C'MON! You and I know he would never made songs with these guys. Standout Tracks: The last for songs on the album that werent produced by Em: PO N***A BLUES(vintage Tupac joint, pretty deep), HENNESSY, CROOKED N***A TOO and LOYAL TO THE GAME REMIX(Dj Quik's verse was fire!). Ghetto Gospel would have been a standout tracks if werent for that campy beat and Elton John(WTF!!!!!) on the hook. Albums like these make me sad because it shows what people do to save their careers from extinction. STOP CAPITALIZING OFF DEAD PEOPLE YOU F****NG PARASITES. REST IN PEACE TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR AND F*** YOU EMINEM AND SUGE KNIGHT!

Spanish: Si eres amante de las Marchas de Sousa les recomiendo comprar esta coleccion de 4 CDS

5 out of 5 stars One Of My Newest Favorites.......2004-07-14

I've just discovered the awesome marches of John Phillip Sousa in the past year. I have several very good Sousa compilations that feature his best known Marches like "Stars & Stripes Forever" and "King Cotton." What I enjoy about this compilation is that it contains a plethora of great Sousa Marches, most of which I never heard before.

I'm strictly a layperson when it comes to classical music, so if my take on Sousa sounds choppy & neanderthol, please pardon me!

This is the third Sousa CD I bought that is conducted by the United States Marine Band, and so far, I enjoy their take on John Phillip Sousa Marches heads above the rest. When a Sousa March moves me, it is because it is more than uplifting; it is sheer elation, a pure mood enhancer when waking up in the morning. "The President's Own" delivers this spirit better than any other source I have heard. The pace is brisk, but not rushed. I've heard other bands' versions of Sousa where the conductor seems to let the chief instruments overshadow others (the flute often seems to be one of the characters drowned out), where the instrumentals in The Marine Band sound so beautifully distributed that I often find myself listening to a March I've heard countless times, and suddenly hear a rhythm or melody from a wind instrument I had never noticed before.

If you have never heard many of John Phillips Sousa's Marches before, this is a good place to start. "Fairest Of the Fair" starts with such an optimistic and energetic pace that it is a hard act for the following tracks to follow. This was the first time I heard the March, and it has become one of my top five Sousa favorites. The next track delivers with "Hands Across the Sea." The persons who compiled this collection have a great ear for Marches as nothing disappointed me. Two tunes that especially grabbed me are "High School Cadets" and the exotic "The Picador."

John Phillip Sousa is one of the most enjoyable musical discoveries I have come across in years. Give this CD a shot, I think you will find it a fabulous listening experience!

5 out of 5 stars GOOD OLE SOUSA.......2004-01-14

Indeed it is a must have classic of a truly great American Composer. Taken from the vaults of the amazing and historic Marine Band this is a classic for any true American Band Lover. The product is superb and well mixed, Bravo to its creators and bravo to those who bring this hard to find music to us in such excellent form.

3 out of 5 stars Not Great Sousa!.......2003-11-07

Despite the fact that this is the Marine band playing Sousa I would not rcommend this product. The selection of Sousa marches is standard, the length of the CD is too short for the price, and the recording quality is poor. There are better Sousa albums elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars 2Pac alive? I agree.......2005-10-18

Francisco, I think you're absolutely right. On "Soldier Like Me," Eminem has a verse, and on "Loyal 2 The Game," G-Unit does, too. Supposedly shot and killed in late 1996, everyone says that all this was written be4 he died. No way, Jose. Pac's alive.

4 out of 5 stars 2Pac alive !!!!!.......2005-10-08

Many are saying that 2Pac didnt know or wouldnt hate Eminem and Obie Trice if he were still here, but that is where they are sadly mistaken. Listen to "Out On Bail" (Track 3)and you will hear Tupac say "drop that s*** Em" refering to Eminem and he also calls out Obie Trice by saying "my n**** O Trice". Last but not least "Loyal To The Game" he says "G-Unit's in this muthaf***a". If anyone had common sense they would know Eminem,G-Unit and Obie Trice were underground when 2Pac was alive and there is no way they could have known each other.

4 out of 5 stars straight cd.......2005-06-12

it's a cool cd. the beats are straight, but eminem put too much of his style into some of em. pac's lyrics still go hard, hennysse (the one without obie), uppercut, and trust me are my favorite tracks. but theres a few other tracks that still hit. i'm glad i picked it up.

1 out of 5 stars Loyal To The Lame.......2005-02-02

I tried to not rate this CD but I must give it a 1 star, but if I could have it my way the star would be the lowest negative number imaginable. Negative Octillion stars at the least. Here's my review:

This is a godawful album, it shouldn't even be called an album at all but a mixtape for the lamest producers and rappers alike to step on Tupac's legacy and use it for their own personal gain without an inkling of respect for the God of Rap. I am glad originals of some these songs leaked since I can't bear to listen to them with corny Eminem beats/raps and guest appearances from the worst rappers to ever pick up a mic. This is just pathetic, I cannot accept this. Lyrics were sped up and slowed down given non-rap guest appearances of Elton John and Dido, which are Eminem guests not Tupac guests, nothing about this album flows like Pac's originals did. All the songs are terrible, but Soulja Like Me really stands out to me as a prime example of what's wrong with this album. It's disappointing this is Part 3 of Tupac's Soulja Story song series, and Part 3 ends up like this? The beat is goofy (like all Eminem beats are) and if Pac's lyrics backed up by that beat wasn't awkward enough, Eminem comes out of nowhere with a chorus that fits as well as baby shoes on Arnold Schwarzenegger's foot. It came across like a chorus for another Eminem song, when Tupac was already doing the original Soulja chorus, Eminem's chorus should never have been added!

Loyal To The Game the song was released in 1994 with Treach and the Riddler with verses following Tupac's, and in this album we get Tupac's verse sped up, Treach and Riddler removed and G-Unit added in! NO!! This is a nightmare that unfortunately is true and can't be changed.

Black Cotton featuring Eminem? What would Eminem know about Black Cotton? Eminem proves he doesn't have a clue what Tupac's vision was with yet another awkward chorus. Nobody don't care? What does that have to do with Tupac's concept of Black Cotton? Nothing!

Hennessey with Obie Trice is another big disappointment. Finally we get to hear a Tupac song all about his favorite drink only to get a remix which sounds like a polka song gone wrong with a very low-rate rapper riding Eminem's coattails, Obie Trice, acting like he's Tupac's long time drinking partner. So fake! Stretch should be in this song getting drunk wit Tupac (he is credited in the song)! He was Tupac's best friend, Stretch actually knew Tupac! Obie DID NOT!

The Bonus remix of Hennessey isn't much better, it sounds like it's ready for a Hennessey TV ad with a melody from Sleepy Brown that sounds close to the McDonald's well-known "Ba Da Ba Ba Ba, I'm Lovin' It!" (of course, Tupac didn't know Sleepy Brown either), while he did know E.D.I., it doesn't help the fact that what was probably a perfectly great song untouched, it was remixed twice for this album in a horrific form.

A Crooked Nigga, Too (Raphael Saadiq Remix) is yet another example of how oil and water don't mix. Raphael Saadiq is an R&B artist and the rugged anti-police thuglyrics to the Crooked Ass Nigga sequal does not fit with a mellow beat and R&B hook.

Big Syke appears in the other remix of Loyal To The Game by DJ Quik, which even though it's still a remix at least it has Big Syke (someone Pac knew and worked with before) and it beats hearing G-Unit desecrate Tupac's memory. However, it's still a remix of a released song that was just fine on the Above The Rim Soundtrack cassette, so what's the use in releasing two remixes of a released song from 1994 on an album of new material? I don't get this at all.

I was hoping the non-Eminem remixes would save the album but nothing about this album is acceptable. Eminem should never be in the position to have an influence over any Tupac material, this is a great injustice in a number of ways. He ruined everything good this album could have had in original form. Many of the originals of these songs are out there and are far superior than this weak drivel Eminem assembled. If a soulless tracklisting of remixes, yes, remixes wasn't bad enough, Tupac's lyrics were edited to say things he never said. He calls out rappers he never knew by name when it should already be disrespectful enough to appear on a track with a rapper who is dead, a deadman they never met also has to be their friend? Unbelievable. I'm not a fan of remixing but since they're clearly releasing Tupac material like this for modernization and to make the most money no matter how much it disrespects the legacy of Tupac, then they should officially release the originals as well so true fans can see how he wanted it to be released, not his greedy mother. We get two remixes of songs never released and one of those remixes could have been an original! Why remixes?! I can edit this album to Acapella free of Eminem's influence, but another slain rapper, Stretch appeared on the original versions of many of these songs and he is really being disrespected by being removed from tracks no one has even heard. If you buy this album you are not Loyal to Tupac at all, those who made this album should be ashamed but I doubt they could feel it consumed by greed. Get all the unreleased originals of the songs that were leaked to the public and you will see what a lousy album this is if you can't see it already. I will conclude this review by quoting a Tupac lyric "What's Next?" and if you ask me the answer is "I can't bear to imagine".

4 out of 5 stars It's Tupac .......2005-01-14

It is Tupac Not one of his best more than likely a few notches under it is a watered down version of Tupac. With all the guest rappers on this album it should have been Pac & friends. The Beats are ok but not like going to make you go whoa the whole CD. That was the old original tupac unwatered down version as soon as you heard it you felt it like whoa, the beat, the pitch of his voice, the content of his lyric matched the state that the world was in we could all relate. Don't get me wrong this is not a all bad album.

There are a few of course good songs on the album with all that was done and undone to this cd it is TUPAC his music and captavating words shine through any bad collabaration such as Obie Trice give me a break. There are still at least more than a handful of songs that are ear catching. It defenitely is not like the Tupac Albums of old the ones he worked on this album is obviously some songs that Tupac didn't think were that good and got put on a CD Caz his name lets face it is the biggest cash cow in the music industry.

I gave it 4 stars because after you listen to the words or tracks a couple of times it kinda grows on you. You begin to like it.IT is still Pac no matterwhat anywones conclusion or own opinions of the music is IF you are a Tupac Fan go out And get it if not don't bother

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars A good start but..........2006-02-01

As other reviewers have mentioned, this isn't quite complete. All of the grand marches, dirges, and (understandably as this was recorded in the 1950s) unavailable-at-the-time marches are missing. Some non-marches have been substituted, confusing the issue. However, this is the largest and most readily available compilation that goes beyond the "greatest hits" sets that so permeate the CD bins. (There IS a truly complete set, but it's only available in Japan, and for whatever reason, it's not being mass-imported to the States at the moment. Go figure.)
For now, I would recommend this to someone who has not purchased a lot of other Sousa CDs so as to avoid the inevitable overlap. You won't have everything, but there's a lot to enjoy here.

5 out of 5 stars another march is missing.......2003-08-03

Hi
This album also lacks The Honored Dead

4 out of 5 stars Close, but not QUITE complete.......2002-10-16

A very nice collection, with crisp performances. It is, however, not complete. There is at least one march, The Wedding March," missing, and it is one that is VERY hard to find. Perhaps the set should be called "The Almost, But Not Quite Complete, Sort Of, Marches....."
