The track "2 Real" by UGK & Mr. 3-2 is reason enough to at least check out this record.....love that track Classic

5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation and Album by the Rap-A-Lot O.G........2007-04-22

Scarface does something tight here on 1998's My Homies. He does not hog the spotlight; he takes it and showcases some slept on southern, midwestern, and west coast talent. He appears on many; yet he also uis absent from many others. 2 discs and 30 tracks deep, there is room for filler, and there is some, but there are definitely some classic joints here too. The songs are generally hungry hustler and gangster tales that these cats are known for, and that works here. One of my favorites here is on disc 1, "2 Real" with UGK, 3-2 and the R&B voices of FLAJ. This track swangs and bangs with serious deep fried beat and all spittin trill rhymes about survival, keeping yourself grounded, and staying away from the fakers, and staying real, a definite classic. A-G-2-A-Ke kicks in the door from Milwaukee on "What's Goin On" (disc 1), and "Cocaine" (disc 2), with hard core rawness matched by few. If you liked these 2 tracks, check their only album Mil-Ticket, which the latter is featured on, another classic. Menace Clan, from Cali, rocks the block on "Menace N---as Never Die"(disc 2) Devin The Dude brings heat on disc 2 with "Do What You Want," a nice G-Funk track from his 1998 classic debut; he can be earnest and funny at the same time. Face and Seagram (from Oakland, Ca RIP)live cautiosly on "Sleepin In My Nikes" (disc 2)where they live life nervously, ready to shake the spot and mash if it gets deep. B-Legit shows up with K.B. on "Do What You Do" (disc 1). "Win Lose Or Draw" (disc 2) showcases DMG, Face, and Lo-Ke with Johnny P singing the hook, a well-grounded track discussing the ways of life, succeeding, failing, surviving, family, and looking for a better way to live; basically, it is a song about real life. The beat is a georgeous twangy Texas G-Funk smoker. A Couple songs may miss, but those are easily overweighed by the ones I mentioned, and a good or great many more I didn't.

5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER RAP-A-LOT CLASSIC!!!.......2006-06-26

I JUST LOVE THIS ALBUM FROM THE START OF THE FIRST CD TO THE END OF THE 2ND CD. THIS IS MORE OF A COMPILATION THEN AN ACTUAL SCARFACE ALBUM BUT IT DOESNT TAKE AWAY FROM IT'S CLASSIC RAP-A-LOT TOUCH. THIS ALBUM SHOWCASES THEIR HOUSE ROSTER(AT THE TIME)AND AS THE ALBUM IS CALLED THEIR "HOMIES" LIKE ICE CUBE, MASTER P, 2PAC(RIP), TOO SHORT ECT. IF YOU CALL YOUR SELF A RAP-A-LOT FAN AND YOU DONT OWN THIS ALBUM THEN YOU ARE NO TRUE FAN.

4 out of 5 stars Tight compilation by Scarface and Rap-A-Lot.......2006-03-17

Rap-A-Lot has always been the best indipendent label, always coming out with tight releases year after year, and never ever falling appart or losing it's artists (unlike other great labels in the past - such as Death Row, Suave, Cash Money, No Limit etc...). This label has always been a house for some of the best rappers and producers in the buisness, and J Prince is a very respected figure in the business (It's also nice to see a label owner not trying to be in the spotlight!). Anyway, 1998 was a very strong year for Rap-A-Lot. They released a lot of classic albums that year - Tela's album "Now or Never" (his debut on Rap-A-Lot), Yukmouth's debut "Thugged Out" and Devin's debut "The Dude". "My Homies" is Scarface's 5ht album and he came out with a blast. This album is straight gangsta rap. And I don't mean gangsta, like thoso "mafioso", big-ballin' so-called-gangsta rappers - "My homies" is all about the streets. Scarface hooked up with many rappers from all over: He had downsouth rappers (UGK, Master P) and Westcoast legends 2Pac, Too $hort, Ice Cube and B-Legit showed him love too. However, most of the rappers featured are Rap-A-Lot rappers. And as you all know, RAL has got one of the tightest rosters in the industry. Most of the label's members are featured on "My Homies": Yukmouth and Tela (who were the newscommers to the label), Devin, DMG, Facemob, Do Or Die, Willie D, Bushwick Bill, KB, 3-2, Snypaz, Hoodlumz, 5th Ward Boyz, Seagram, Big Mike, Ghetto Twinz and a few others. What a roster,!!... All on the same album!! As far as the album goes, it's not perfect, it's not a 5 stars album, but it's still a 4 star, and also a classic! It's just that it's got a lot of classics, especially the timeless "F*** Faces" (feat. Too Short, Devin and Tela), Southside Houston Texas (feat. Devin and Tela), Homies and Thugs (feat. Master P and an awesome verse by 2PAC - although it's just a freestyle, which obviously wasn't recorded in a studio so it doesn't really fit the beat, and sounds wack, but who cares), Overnight (feat. Do or Die and The Snypaz), In My Blood (Yukmouth, DMG and Big Mike", "Do What YOu Do" (B-Legit and Bushwick Bill over a tight a** beat by Tone Capone) and quite a few others. However the best song is "The Ghetto" - Scarface, featuring KB, Ice Cube and Willie D. Every rapper on this song delivers an unforgettable verse! Production on the album is flawless, as always with Rap-A-Lot, and is handled by Mike Dean, Mr. Lee, NO Joe, Brad Jordan (That's Scarface for those of you who don't know), Tone Capone and a few others. The album is not perfect, beacuse some of the songs sound a bit like filler to me, and not all the featured artists deliver as they should. There are no wack songs on the album, it's just that a few songs aren't at the same level as the great ones (that are the most). This album could easily be a classic masterpiece had it been a single CD with about 20 songs on it. But Double CDs were popular at that time, so Rap-A-Lot decided to go with it, especially with the huge success of the timeless classic "Thugged Out" (which has gone GOLD!). Scarface is awesome as usual (he is on about hald of the songs, so it's more of a compilation than a solo album), delivering his usual smart raps about life and the streets. This is a must-have, because there are too many classics on it, and you shouldn't miss that. This album is all about the streets, the hustlas, the thugs. You can see it from the albums cover - No fancy rides, iced out chains and watches or bit**s with bigg a**es. This album is straight gangsta. Rap-A-Lot never dissapoints.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Scarface presents album.......2006-03-07

Uncle Face is back after just 1 year with his 30 song double disc rightfully titled "My Homies". as of the 30 songs, Face is on about half and his homies are on all but 2 songs. Mostly fellow Rap-A-Lot artists and producers do the album. of the 30 songs, 3 are classics, 4 I skip, 7 are ok, the other 16 are good. It easily could have been a very solid 4.5 or 5 star, 17-19 song single disc album without the fillers. Production is tight as usualk from rap-A-Lot. Mike Dean does 7 songs, Scarface does 6, Mr. Lee does 5, N.O. Joe does 3, 88 Keys & Domo each do 2 and Tone Capone, John Bido, Joe Blythewood, JoJO Hearns & Rag Tag each do 1 song. A nice album for his fans but far from his best (but still worth 4 stars).

Here we go again with another old school legend with nothing to prove. But if you live, eat, and sleep music, then what else is there to do? Enter Scarface with a single and double-disc sequel to his previous installment of My Homies. The whole point of these albums is the collaborations with other legends and new faces, which Scarface seems to keep to a minimal on his other releases. I like it when he puts out these albums because he's forced to step his own game up since it's other people rocking the same track. He also gives the reigns to some of his partners to rock their own songs without the help of Scarface. My Homies, Part 2 delivers on stellar performances from Scarface. It's just too bad his homies didn't follow suit on a majority of the tracks.

Ice Cube blasts off his verse on "Definition of Real" with Face and Z-Ro, leaving the two of them sitting on the sidelines. Beanie Sigel keeps up with Mista Mista Scarface on "Never Snitch," while The Game only gives an okay performance. Z-Ro lives up to his name on "Man Cry," a remix of sorts to Scarface's original smash hit. "Street Lights" gives a glimmer of hope to the album's outlook with help from Yung Redd and Lil Ron. But then that hope goes down the drain with "We Out Here" featuring an unspeakable performance from Skip and the Ghetto Slaves as well as a horrifying YODELING sample!

Scarface decides to go solo on "Gotta Get Paid," a track that could have had better production. "Club Bangaz" featuring Juvenile and Partners N Crime is just what the title suggests, although Scarface doesn't appear on the song for good reason since he isn't known to do any songs like this. Bun B should have ran for the hills when he heard the 'Gimme A Break' sample on "Platinum Stars," especially with the South's wackest offering of Lil Flip and Chamillionaire putting their lackluster lyrics on the song. "Always" features Spider R.I.P.P.E.R. doing a typical Down South track for the thugs to rock to. Vicious gives an okay track with "Tryin To F*ck Something" while Scarface tries his hand at rocking a reggae beat on "Pass The Itchy."

The last two cuts on the album include the Dirty South posse cut "Southern N!gg@" with everybody and they momma spitting a verse (actually just Mr. Lee, 8-Ball, E-Rock, Lil Keke, Slim Thug and the singing of Rell), and Scarface reuniting with his group The Geto Boys for "My Life." All in all, not a bad collection even though it could have been much better. I give Scarface an 'A' for effort, but a 'C' for execution. It's worth you money if you can stomach the bad cuts. Better yet, get your index finger ready to push the skip button on the sprinkling of crap on My Homies, Part 2.

I really wanted to like this album but Scarface's homies made me cringe each time one of them rapped. Scarface was great as usual but I could not get into his group don't get me wrong there were highlights like the Intro,Stop Snitchin and Street Lights and the rest were bluhh! My recommendation is don't buy wait for a solo by Scarface or buy The Product One-Hunid which Scarface was on.

"It was the day that hell broke loose!...". That's how this albumn starts with Face barking over a dark, menacing beat. If more cuts on this CD would have been similar to the intro, this albumn might have gotten 4 stars. Instead, as with the first "My Homies" compilation, Face steps aside for the most part to give his labelmates some shine. Guests, I mean homies include Z-Ro, who pays homage to Face with "Man Cry", his own rendition of the classic "I Seen a Man Die". That track works for me, mainly due to the nostalgia sparked up by the beat. Another homie is Beanie Siegel who appears on the bangin' "Never Snitch" and growls, "...f@ck your mother, the b#tch ain't sh%t for having you..."! Ice Cube comes through and blesses the CD with a verse on the standout track "Definition of Real". Other homies include Game, Juvenile, Lil KeKe, Bun B, Chamillionare, and The Geto Boys (Willie D and Bushwick Bill). In my humble opinion, half of "My Homies, Part Two" is filler material. Tracks like "Southern N#gga" and "Club Bangaz", which features Juvenile, really miss the mark. The highlights are those tracks that team up well established rappers. "Platinum Starz" (Lil Flip, Chamillionare, and Bun B) will no doubt be heard up and down blocks all over the south all summer. The best tracks feature Mr. Brad Jordan (Scarface) himself. He has a couple of solo cuts, and the best song on the albumn is "Gotta Get Paid". The hook is mean, better yet viscious, and the track is one of the best I've ever heard Face rhyme over. Finally, another standout features a Geto Boys reunion entitled "My Life". This track serves up a sizzlin', electric loop, with a hook by someone who sounds a lot like Curtis Mayfield. Bushwick offers, "I only have one eye, but I see things ever so clear...if there's a heaven for a G, then I'm prepared to go there..."

"Part Two" is okay. It's definately not a classic, but it will wet the appetites of Houston's hard core fan base and Scarface's, who are all waiting patiently for "Made".

3 out of 5 stars A solid single........2005-03-21

I've been into ICP for a few years now, and been through a few of the ups and downs. When The Wraith came out, a lot of people were turned off by what the Dark Carnival really was. Here was a straight up dark rap group following something that we figured was the complete opposite. But it shouldn't matter, they still make good music right? Are we going to let their beliefs change how we listen to their music? I hope not. When it came down to it though, was The Wraith was much different from previous Joker's Cards. Not just the writing, but the music seemed much different too. It showed with the first single- Homies.

Homies is a solid track that represents the entire crew that ICP's a part of. RudeBoy, HBK, Twiztid, all of 'em. Heck, the track starts out with an answering machine message from RudeBoy just calling to let everyone know that he loves 'em. ABK appears on this version of the track, making it even sweeter. I'll admit, I wasn't into ABK that much before, but after this track, he's climbing the ranks. Amazon won't let me get away with typing up the next track, but you can see it right there on the track list on this page. This a dark rhyme, but hilarious in its own right. Mike Clark does great with the beats too. This one'll get stuck in your head for days on end. Juggalo Chant though, is my favorite track here. Yeah it's repetitive, but it's an anthem. If you saw the Gathering of the Juggalos bonus disc that came with The Wraith for a limited time, this is the track that plays as they leave the stage. It starts out with gunshots, someone breathing heavily, and a heartbeat. Then, J kicks in saying that death can occur at any time, at any day, and you will meet the Wraith...face to face. "Is it the end of the world? Yes. It is the end of the world. And it's also the beginning. The beginning of a brand new Juggalo world, for us all to enjoy." Man he sounds chilling there. He also says when the album drops. The release date for this one varies on different recordings, but on this single, it's the 6th. On mine anyway. Also on this single are the edited (no ABK here) version of Homies for radio stations, plus the Homimes video. The video's pretty cool. Lots of J and the crew driving around the streets together.

It's a good single, especially for the track I can't type on here (lame), and Juggalo Chant is a true anthem, sure to boost your spirits. While I don't see paying the price shown on here, it's worth picking up for maybe half of that. Try certain online auction sites. It's sickeningly cheap there.

5 out of 5 stars I'm Not Talking About Limp Bizkit KoRn Cry About..........2003-04-26

This single is strait-up fresh. Like most of I.C.P's singles, its not just that one song, you get some rare tracks. This single isn't worth much now since its so new, but I can guarantee you it will go for some cash down the road like all of I.C.P's rarer CDs. This single is imported from Austrailia on Shock/Psychopathic Records for all the Austrailian ninjas because I.C.P seem to get more love radio/T.V. wise in other countries. Anyway, enough jabber. Onto the Cd.
'Homies(Radio Version)' is just an edited remix made for their very, very fresh video which has actually gotten a little bit of air/radio play. Also, Anybody Killa does not seem to appear on this track, I have no idea why.
'Homies(Street Version)' All the unedited freshness in one track. This song features Twiztid & Anybody Killa and is a complete classic. Pretty much the same as the edited version just featuring ABK and unedited. Read on...
'Juggalo Chant' was available only from the 6th Jokers Card sampler...This song is rather reptitive but its all for us, and I.C.P represents us well. All the same, this song represents us and its down in history. =)>
The last audio track is the famous seminar from the Gathering of the Juggalos and it explains alot for the new juggalos, but is also a fresh recap for us old-school ninjaz. Violent J explains pretty much all the Joker's Cards and tid-bits and such from their relationship with Legz Diamond and Hollywood Records to full-coverage of 'The Wraith:Shangri-La'. I dig this track alot, but I must warn you, this track has cut out about 40 minutes due to the content of the actual seminar. You can download that in its full form. This version cuts out ALOT, including phat info on Joker's Cards, Twiztid, etc.
Anyways, the bonus "track" is actually the video for 'Homies'! This video is tha complete dopeness, all out. It features cameos from the whole family, including Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Esham The Boogie Man, Twiztid and ABK unmasked! Anyway, buy this CD, you will definitely appreciate it! Thanks for reading my review, hopefully I have better-educated your decision.
