Master of the Flying Guillotine [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews
From the Artist
Jumpsteady brings more than just a kung-fu vibe to this album. No stranger to the game, this veteran of Psychopathic Records brings over ten years of experience to his style. A keen consumer of pop culture, he covers everything from ghost stories to the internet. Always aware of his surroundings, this Gulf War vet doesn't hold back when he reveals his feelings and unleashes his observations. Emotion carries over into his family life, and fans won't be disappointed by the guest appearances on this album. Overall, Master of the Flying Guillotine reveals a man in touch with himself and his audience, willing to speak for everyone from the modern street thug to the disenfranchised D&D geek.

They whisper tales of a mysterious, magnificent device created by the most ruthless emperor to assassinate his enemies. Many a man has lost his head to the shadows when the Flying Guillotine strikes. Few warriors had the focus to master this devastating weapon, but one has emerged from the mythto use his lethal knowledge and display his deadly skill as the Guillotine takes flight once again

Jumpsteady really should stay behind the scenes. .......2007-02-01
Jumpsteady obviously is good at helping run a record company, because Psychopathic has been operating independently now since 1992 and has become one of the most successful underground labels in the music business history, but he really should stay off the mic. He doesn't write his own rhymes and his flow is incredibly slow and clumsy, and it's obvious he wouldn't even be recording an album if Violent J were not his brother. Outside of the guest appearances by Violent J and Myzery (who I loved while he was on Psychopathic) there is nothing stand out about this album. Sorry Jumpsteady, but don't quit your day job bro.
If there was a zero, I'd pick it!!!.......2005-10-23
I absolutely love hiphop! I've been listening to it all my life. In my lifetime, I've purchased hundreds of albums. This album, by far, is the absolute worst "hip hop" album, if you dare to call it that, that I have ever heard!!! I've owned it for about two, or three months now, and barely listened to it less than 2 times. In fact, as soon as I finish writing this, I'm going to crack the cd in two, and throw it in the garbage! It's actually in my pocket right now ready to go! I hated it! It was seriously painful to listen to it more than one time. I absolutely hated it!!! Do NOT buy this album, you'll be happy you did'nt. It includes the absolute weakest rhymes, and beats EVER!!!!! Whomever it was that wrote this album, seriously needs to get a life, far apart from hip hop that is! Give me a break, Dungeons and Dragons!!! God! It makes me want to run full speed into a brick wall!!!
The guy can rap, man!.......2005-05-25
Man, I'm seein' a lot of good reviews for this CD, but also a lot of really stale ones, and I can't figure out why. Jumpsteady is in my opinion one of the most creative rappers on Psychopathic. While he doesn't really think of rap as a career, and is more of a behind the scenes kinda guy, he can really put out some dope stuff when he puts his mind to it. What I like is that he raps about things EVERYONE can relate to. There's gangster songs, nerd songs, fantasy songs, songs about chicks, murder raps, all that! Who else do you see spittin' rhymes about Dungeons and Dragons?! Nobody, that's who. So give this album a try. You might like it.
Standout Tracks:
13th Skull- SWEET storytelling aspects. Probably one of the coolest song intros I've ever heard.
If- More great storytelling. I love how the verses repeat and change different things about the situation.
Master of the Flying Guillotine- Straight up cool song. Great beat, love the chorus.
Dungeon Master- Once again, anyone who raps about DnD must be totally cool.
Jumpsteady Put A Lot of Effort Into This One.......2005-03-28
Sure, Jumpsteady may not be the greatest at rapping on Psychopathic...he doesn't even really consider himself a rapper, but he really puts his heart and mind into what he does. Master of the Flying Guillotine deffinatly has a lot of highlight tracks. The most notable to me are : "Master of the Flying Guillotine", "Ima", "My Mans an Them", "Spur of the Moment", and "Crazy Straight". The guest appearances for the most part were also some of the highlights of the album. Myzery tares it up on "My Mans an Them" and Delusional (Jump's hypeman) does a great job on "Spur of the Moment". J makes an appearance on "Ima" which isn't bad although it sounds like it was written on the spot. Down sides of the album were that I did not find the second half of the CD to be as enjoyable. And as much as I know he loves to feature his daughter and all that stuff, "Battlefield" was pretty irritating (much more so than her hidden track on his first CD). Master of the Flying Guillotine was also missing the political tracks that made The Chaos Theory so great. Over all, I liked The Chaos Theory better since it was more consistant and had more meaning to me, but I give Jumpsteady credit for trying something new. Hey, anyone who can make tracks about being a nerdy teen playing Dungeons and Dragons is obviously real and unashamed of who they are...and I give much props to that.
Better Than Expected..........2005-03-25
Let me start this review by saying that I have been a down-azz juggalo since the Riddlebox era and I buy & love everything Psychopathic. That being said, I have no problem admitting that Jumpsteady is by far the worst rapper on Psychopathic Records and "The Chaos Theory" was the worst album ever released on the label (although I did like "Ninjas in Action" for the guest appearances). I really wanted to like him when he first came out, but it is obvious that his rapping skills suck and the only reason he even has an album out is because he is Violent J's brother. But that's cool, he's a juggalo so I still got love for him.
My expectations were not high for this album at all. After listening to it a few times and letting it grow on me, I gotta say that I am pleasantly surprised. The production of the album is very good and it often makes up for the fact that Jumpsteady can't rap that well. Here is a breakdown of each track, with my Entertainment Weekly-style ratings:
1. Intro
2. Master of the Flying Guillotine - (C) - Not a very good opening, but not terrible either.
3. Ima (feat. Violent J) - (A-) - Violent J makes a great guest appearance as always! This track is phat, gets better the more you listen to it.
4. If - (B-) - Pretty good beat, decent track.
5. Crom Skit
6. Revenge - (A+) - This is definitely my favorite track on the CD!! The beat is tight as hell, the chorus is awesome, and Jumpsteady's rapping sounds good!! Whatever vocal effects they used on this track should have been used throughout the whole album!!
7. My Mans An Them (feat. Myzery) - (B) - Good things about this track: The beat is tight and its great to hear Myzery rap again. He RIPS it with some tight flows. Bad things about this track: Jumpsteady's rapping and the chorus. Overall, it basically works though.
8. Spur of the Moment (feat. Delusional) - (B) - Delusional has some pretty tight flows and the production is great on this one. Again, Jumpsteady's rapping puts a damper on the track.
9. Crazy Straight - (D-) - Crazy wack!
10. Battlefield - (No rating) - It's very hard to rate a Pat Benatar cover song that is performed by a 10-year-old girl. Nonetheless, Samantha is arguably a better rapper than Jumpsteady.
11. There She Was - (A) - This is my second favorite track on the CD and the biggest surprise because it doesn't sound like a stereotypical Psychopathic song at all. Still, this is one of Jumpsteady's better rapping performances and the girl's voice sounds great on the track.
12. Universal Air Stance - (A-) - A nice filler on the album, with some tight beats & scratching.
13. Sonar Skit
14. Dungeon Master - (D+) - The beat for this song is AWESOME! Too bad he is rapping about Dungeons & Dragons!! I know some juggalos may be into this stuff, but not me.
15. Amy's Ghost - (B+) - Above-average follow up to the ICP classic "Amy's in the Attic." However, it can't touch the original. I do like the ending of this song a lot though, as well as the overall creepy feeling.
16. The Obsolete Man - (B) - Good track; I like Jumpsteady's fast rapping on this one.
17. Thirteenth Skull - (F) - Probably one of the worst songs ever made. Absolute garbage.
18. True Stories II - (F) - A hidden track that should have stayed hidden.
Overall, this album could have been much worse. For some much better recent Psychopathic Records music, check out Blaze's "Colton Grundy"!
