3 out of 5 stars Not Great But Not Terrible Either.......2006-01-19

This Cd actually marked the beginning of Spice One's new sound. His rhyming technique and flow remained intact, but the beats and music mostly had a different sound than his previous work. There are only a couple of true weak spots in this cd("Das Ok"W/Rappin4Tay &"Azzhole Naked")The rest of cd is solid but definately not the strongest Spice 1.Highlights include the follow-up to the classic "Welcome to the Ghetto","Welcome Back to the Ghetto","Lucky I'm Rappin',and Pistols Power & Paper.

5 out of 5 stars Another classic from SPICE 1.......2004-11-03

Spice delivers maybe his best solo effort on his 8th major label album (a toss up w/ "AmeriiKKKaz Nightmare" & "1990-Sick"). You can listen right from #1 to #13 w/o changing any songs. Like I say on all my reviews, he's one of the best and doesn't make bad cd's and should have sold millions if he got the airplay he deserves. You gotta cop this one. It has 2 classics, 1 ok song and the rest are good or great. Production is also good ans is done by Spice 1 & Wino (7 songs), and Tone Tovin (6 songs)

#1 - 9
#2 - 9.5 (remake of his classic "welcome to the ghetto")
#3 - 9
#4 - 8.5
#5 - 9 (slower song f/ Tray Deee & kokane)
#6 - 9
#7 - 8 (f/ outlawz)
#8 - 9 (f/ Spade)
#9 - 9.5 talkin' bout his nigg@$)
#10 - 10 (classic w/ Jayo Felony)
#11 - 9
#12 - 7.5 (f/ Rappin' 4-Tay)
#13 - 10 (another classic w/ a great beat)

5 out of 5 stars The best Spice yet!.......2003-03-03

Spice is so far above the rest of the rappers. His material is better in many ways. Its angrier but also the music and production is of much higher quality. For example, you put on Ice-T and its some basic drum machine beat with him rapping and a couple bland instruments. Spices songs are so much fuller. Big fat instrument sounds, lush catchy melodies, etc. I think Spices standards must be a lot higher than his peers because the product he puts out has such higher quality. I really dont listen to much other rap because I cant tolerate their poor song writng and production.
I should add that unlike many rappers, Spice can actually SING and does it very well. I hesitate to categorize him as rap because he falls into. Other areas such as R&B, rock, even techno. My only complaint remains that he needs fresh lyrics. He tends to either use the same ones from album to album or use them over and over on one album. An example of the former is, He raps about "Tech 9 in the bushes" on a few CDs. An example of the latter is, Ive heard "turn the heat down" too many times on this one along with "sticky green" on multiple songs. His material is by far the best and nastiest out there, but he needs some assistance on the lyrics.

5 out of 5 stars Better every time.......2002-11-06

East bay gangsta rocks it! Every time I think hes gonna start [getting worse] he gets better. My only complaint is that he needs new lyrics. He has a way of repeating old ones. For example "Mac10 up in the bushes" which is mentioned on this one was covered amply back on the 1990sick cd (his very best and most violent IMO). Otherwise...awesome! Welcome back to the ghetto is great! That tune should be on the radio, thats quality melody and beats. A few [boring] songs but most are typical, if ya like his other stuff, this one will rock ya.

West coast!!!Spice1 up in this [house]!

4 out of 5 stars Spice 1 is back at it again.......2002-06-14

He is what 32 or sumthing been in the game for too long, not yet, he still got it, still going strong.........the first 4 songs are typical spice1, gangsta with a good melody to em, then thuggin is more of a slow joint, a smokers song......at any rate the whole cd from beggining to end is solid, not the best but still gonna be in my cd player for awhile, KEEP HOLDIN IT DOWN SPICE, REP CALI RIGHT!!!
