Back-to-back tracks in the middle of Lethal Injection are all the proof we need that Ice Cube is a great talent. "What Can I Do?" opens with a strings-and-wah-wah motif from an early-'70s blaxploitation film and follows with a "Superfly" tale about a high-level drug dealer. Next up is "Lil Ass Gee," the story of a 12-year-old wanna-be gangster. Just a few years ago he was playing with G.I. Joe dolls, and now he's playing with real guns and making real babies. On both numbers, the rapper's rich, resonant baritone bleeds into the synth strings with a sense of fatefulness that's chilling to hear. But Ice Cube's career is a tragedy. An overdose I can deal with.......2006-12-05
Ice Cube continues the conscious music/gangsta rap path on this 4th album Lethal Injection. Let's see how many gems we can pull out of this one. Standout Tracks: REALLY DOE, GHETTO BIRD, YOU KNOW HOW WE DO IT(original and remix are cool with me), CAVEB***H(RIP Khalled Abdul Mohammed), WHAT CAN I DO(original and remixes), LIL A** GEE(the eerie gumbo mix is my s***), WHEN I GET TO HEAVEN(Funny but truthful). Filler: Make it ruff, make it smooth(weak plus K-dee's verses were kind of corny) and Enemy(this song sounds like it was put together on the spot). Bottom Line: Lethal Injection is not a garbage album like these crackpots want you to believe. The production was westcoast tight and Ice Cube's lyrics are sharp and to the point. Songs like What Can I Do, Lil A** Gee, When I get to heaven and Cavebitch still ring true to this day. Definetly collection material here.

I have to admit, I listened to this album constantly when it came out. It's what I think of as Ice Cube's g-funk album. I say that because I think this was his answer to "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle". A few tracks I don't care for much, but the better ones make it worth owning. "Really Doe" and "Ghetto Bird" are both great, and "You Know How We Do It" is a cruising classic. "Bop Gun" is a sweet party track, because of it's length, and the fact that George Clinton is on it. I also dig the groovy "Make It Rough, Make It Smooth", "Down For Whatever", and "When I Get To Heaven". All on the mellow side. As for the bonus tracks, I don't think they're half as good as the bonus tracks on "The Predator", but with the remastering I'll take 'em. This is also another Cube disc that's heavy on the pro-black/anti-white thing, fyi. Still though, a must for bigger fans, others can probably stick with the "Hits".

Ice Cube's 4th full album Lethal Injection would produce more great results comming off his most commercial LP (back in the early 90's) The Preditor. Compared to albums such as Amerikka's Most Wanted/Kill At Will and Death Certificate, a more older Ice Cube would come on this album with less gang related topics and less pro-black rhyme structure. Hooking up with a producer named q d III most parts throughout the album come off sucessful, and at the same time, more laid back (I guess Cube's production skills wern't in full swing yet back in '93). "Really Doe", "Cave B***h" (despite how racial you think that song is), "Lil A** Gee" would be the only few songs that will take you back to the early days of Ice Cube. The latter would be a song on the effect on little kids getting caught up in gangbanging. "Ghetto Bird" is an ode to those high speed chases that often occur in Los Angeles. The soft atmosphere occurs on most tracks as songs like "You Know How We Do It", "Make It Ruff, Make It Smooth" and "When I Get To Heaven" would play off well, but at the same time, might have left old Cube fans scratching their heads ("Down For Whatever" couldn't have been any slower). Despite the eleven minute long song "Bop Gun", that will make you nod your head to the uplifting p funk tune of George Clinton's (who ironically appears on this track) "One Nation Under A Groove".
If you purchased this after 2003, you would get four extra tracks (mostly taken from his Bootlegs & B Sides album) of remixes of the hits. ATCQ's Ali Shaheed Muhummad would remix "What Can i Do" with a beat that doesn't sound like Cube would be confortable with but pulls it off anyway. Cube himself would remix "You Know How We Do It" making it sound better than the origonal.
Overall, this album is solid release from Cube that I enjoyed at most parts. No he doesn't carry the same tone as he did back in his NWA days, but hits us with something more relaxing. People say that this is Cube's worst album that he released between 1990 and 1993, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad album (personally I believe The Preditor was his worst), and has been sucessful in many points, reading that it was his second most selling album behind The Preditor. This one I recommend picking up, it carries its weight for the majority.

Ice Cube comes back with this darker sound after the predator. a lot of people don't feel this album, i think because it is so much darker and crazier. the sound is still funky, and personnally i really dig it, some of ice cube's best work on here (see song two "really doe").
all in all, highly recommended
under-rated, way better than Predator.......2005-11-13
This ones under-rated and didnt get as much attention as The Predator. It stomps PRedator and was a comeback album of the year back in 95 for cube. Probably the best beats of any Cube album and his lyrics are still on point. Not as innovative or original as classics like Amerikka and Death Certificate, but satisfying nonetheless. Ghetto Bird is a west coast classic, with an off the hook beat. Cube is not as insightful as on earlier albums but still the bigot you love to hate, flinging hatred towards inter-racial daters, christians, and fully supporting radical black power movements as always. This would be his last tight album. Lethal Injection,although not Cube's best work, is still better than 90% of the garbage rappers drop today.

love the concept if you're white and is easily offended this isn't for you cave bitch is a song where cube disses white women and gives praise to the beautiful black woman enemy is a song where cube says kill all the white devil and even mocks dr. king cube also states his views on christianity on when I get to heaven, you know how wwe do it, really doe are straight classics I love this cd my favorite is bop gun with george clinton a remake of funkadelic's one nation under a groove ice cube sampled the hell out of p funk and working with the doctor was a must for him.

I don't really agree with that as I am a Cracker myself, but for some reason I did find myself enjoying this album. Of all Ice Cube's early work this is often considered his weakest, and lyrically maybe it is, however the production on Lethal Injection is excellent. Finally Ice Cube embraces the G Funk sound popularised by Dr Dre and Co, and he enlists the help of producers like QDIII, to help him create that fonky sound.
The album starts off with the intro, the shot, where cube as a doctor, gives a shot (literally) to his patient, Mr White (pun intented). This sets the tone for much of what comes in the album, and though I don't agree with many of Cube's opinions, for obvious reasons, most of the songs on here are at least good. It kicks off with Really Doe a great track followed by Ghetto Bird, another superb song, the best on the album though is definetely You Know How We Do It, which is one of my favourite Cube tracks of all time. It has that laid back G Funk sound, and is just a great track. Other notable tracks are Bop Gun (though I prefer the shorter version), What Can I Do?, When I Get To Heaven and Enemy, which has a great beat though I don't condone shooting devils.
I don't know why this album took so much criticism, all in all it is a good listen, though tracks like Cave Bi*ch do let this down. It is basically Ice Cube saying how he would never f*ck a White Bi*ch and it's just a stupid song, though I couldn't help but laugh when I first heard it. While I can understand why he is annoyed at White Society, Cave Bitch is really nothing more than a racist rant. Probably that track got more criticism than anything else, this is a good album otherwise though, maybe not Cube's best, but recommended
The Good Yet, Under-R8ed Album!.......2005-11-06
I am a fan of Cube, if it wasn't for Cube & Cypress Hill I wouldn't be into any Classic Gangsta Rap, I personally think Lethal Injection is much better than Amerikkka's Most Wanted or Death Certificate, though if it weren't for 1992's The Predator, I wouldn't be in to Cube! The song Down 4 Whatever has the nice Gangsta Beat thats real slow, but What Can I Do? (Westside-mix) has the hardest beat off the Album! But I don't care who you are, if your a West Coaster like me, the song You Know How We Do It has the best flow, and probably is 1 of Cube's best hits! Cave Bitch is a pretty Funny ass song 2!
Overall, 2 me 1994 release Lethal Injection is 2nd to The Predator, here we go..... best songs are 3, *4, 5, 7, 8, 9, *10, 12, *13, 14, *15 & 16.
4th Solo is tight -- maybe his best.......2005-10-15
Another year and another Cube album, this may be my favorite solo of his I have (I don't have "AmeriKKKas Nightmare" & War & Peace Vol. 1"). Many don't like this as much as his first 3, the content and sound changed with the times, and I like it more then his first 3 albums. Only 11 songs but still a hot CD. Guests drop in on 2 of the 11 song, so alot of Cube still gets heard. Of the 11, 2 are classics, 1 is a near classic, 3 I skip, 2 are ok and the others are good. His lyrics are less political/racial on this one and the production is different then his previuos 3, it has the mosre upbeat west coast G-Funk sound, which I like better. QDIII does 4 songs, Madness & Brian G each do 2, and Sir Jinx, 88X Unit, and Derrick McDowell each do 1 song. A must have for Cube fans.

I am a fan of Cube, if it wasn't for Cube & Cypress Hill I wouldn't be into any Classic Gangsta Rap, I personally think Lethal Injection is much better than Amerikkka's Most Wanted or Death Certificate, though if it weren't for 1992's The Predator, I wouldn't be in to Cube! The song Down 4 Whatever has the nice Gangsta Beat thats real slow, but What Can I Do? (Westside-mix) has the hardest beat off the Album! But I don't care who you are, if your a West Coaster like me, the song You Know How We Do It has the best flow, and probably is 1 of Cube's best hits! Cave Bitch is a pretty Funny ass song 2!
Overall, 2 me 1994 release Lethal Injection is 2nd to The Predator, here we go..... best songs are 3, *4, 5, 7, 8, 9, *10, 12, *13, 14, *15 & 16.
4th Solo is tight -- maybe his best.......2005-10-15
Another year and another Cube album, this may be my favorite solo of his I have (I don't have "AmeriKKKas Nightmare" & War & Peace Vol. 1"). Many don't like this as much as his first 3, the content and sound changed with the times, and I like it more then his first 3 albums. Only 11 songs but still a hot CD. Guests drop in on 2 of the 11 song, so alot of Cube still gets heard. Of the 11, 2 are classics, 1 is a near classic, 3 I skip, 2 are ok and the others are good. His lyrics are less political/racial on this one and the production is different then his previuos 3, it has the mosre upbeat west coast G-Funk sound, which I like better. QDIII does 4 songs, Madness & Brian G each do 2, and Sir Jinx, 88X Unit, and Derrick McDowell each do 1 song. A must have for Cube fans.

#3 - 10 (CLASSIC --- GREAT beat -- one of his best songs ever)
