Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great collection of Coolio's greatest hits..........2002-11-24

This album is a pretty good collection of Coolio's hits over the years and I would recommend it to any rap fan. My fav tracks on the album are Gangsta's Paradise, C U When You Get There, Ooh La La, I Remember, Geto Highlights, and 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin' New). If you are a fan of Coolio then this is essential to have. One thing though, they should have put more of Coolio when he was hardcore, like more songs from It Takes A Thief. But it is still a good album and has all his best hits. Get it

5 out of 5 stars Coolio: The Greatest Hits.......2002-10-28

Coolio has made a huge amount of sucess in the 90's and has even
established 3 CD's in the progess. His Greatest Hits CD combines
all his best songs from It Takes A Thief (1994), Gansta's Paradise (1995), My Soul (1997). For Instance Coolio's biggest song Gansta's Paradise is on it 1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New) is on it I Remeber is also on it and there's alot more. Overall this CD is a great one and if you don't have and you're a huge Coolio
fan well then now's the right time to get.

4 out of 5 stars al;right.......2001-12-24

coolio was'nt the best asrtist he was good for a minute despite his crossover, u stayed seeing coolio on tv during his first 2 cd's, the best songs are on here my soul was street my only fault was they should have put get up get down on here featuring his mentor wc.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent for casual fans looking for his signature songs--.......2001-08-13

Also, for people looking for a sampling of 90's crossover rap-- despite the gangsta-heavy themes, Coolio seemingly had no problems with making it onto radio and video rotations, and his real-life persona was always inviting and articulate-- unlike some of his peers who felt like they had to live up to a thuggish image, Coolio thankfully avoided, for the most part, any major run-ins with the law after his career took off.. Since then, though, he's severed his ties with Tommy Boy-- which is why this compilation is receiving a "quiet" release-- and Coolio runs his own indie label where he plans to release a new album stateside (it's already out overseas). ...

3 out of 5 stars Not a fantastic voyage, just a trip on the corn road/rowed........2001-07-20

Granted, South-Central California has offered up some fine cinematic inspiration, but let's not get carried away. Compton is not exactly known as the place from where lyrical masters hail, and Coolio is no exception. The following sub-classic lyrics prove my point -"slide slide slippity slide" "A can-o-corn,a can-o-corn. All I had for dinner was a can-o-corn" and "I came back from the Congo as Return Of The Jedi. I smoke the spinach and you get popped in your ezzye"

Say What!?

Coolio, a.k.a. Artis Ivey, has done some decent work, but now he attempts the ludicrous feat of dropping a greatest hits album! (Please note the description at the top of the page, "Fantastic Voyage: Greatest Hit". Well said, HIT! Perhaps truth in advertising?). Bangin', Slangin, ho's, sixty fo's, G's, 9's, Ballin', Yes Y'allin', Triggaz, and Ni**az. Can anyone say, tired, or Cliche. After a decade this language is no longer fresh, hip, or even close to original

I find it troubling that this album is even being made, considering Tupac has released more albums after his death than Coolio has in his entire career! I personally think that Coolio, who has no more albums than Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys,or N*Sync, and half the albums of Hanson should be seriously embarrassed.

Save your money and buy Weird Al Yankovich's "Amish Paradise"
