Soundbombing, Vol. 3 [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews
From URB Magazine
Despite rumors of untimely demise, Rawkus is alive and kicking, rolling out the third installment of its lauded Soundbombing series. This time, NY's Cipha Sounds and LA's Mr. Choc mix the exclusive underground ingredients. SoundbombingIII goes easy on the turntable tricknology, which is something of a missed opportunity, given how wicked either DJ can get.
Then again, this keeps the focus on the music, and Soundbombing III provides a provocative window into Rawkus' current underground aesthetics. Gone is the hard-knock funk edge, replaced by smooth, soulful flows. Among the better examples are Zap Mama's "Yelling Away" featuring Common and Talib Kweli, a collabo so naturally obvious that it's surprising they hadn't worked together before. Q-Tip breaks from his neo-soul dabblings to bring back his familiar flow and sting lovely on "What Lies Beneath," while Skillz joins forces with Missy Elliott and Kandi for the "Rapper's Delight"-flavored "Crew Deep."
On the iffy end, Mos Def's "Freak Daddy" is a chaotic mesh, Kool G Rap's fuzz-funk "My Life" is another setback on his comeback trail and the Beatnuts' "The Trouble Is" is as disastrous as the name suggests. Like many mixtapes, Soundbombing III can be frustratingly uneven, but there are gems amidst the rubble.

Scoff if you must, but the Kidz Bop gang clearly stepped up its game for 12. Song selection is the biggest factor--instead of popular but cryptic numbers kids can't relate to like "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree," from 11, here we have a gaggle of tunes ripe for kid-translation, Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape," Fergie's flouncy-flouncy "Glamorous," and Rihanna's "Umbrella" among them. Also excellent about this disc which, try though it may, is destined to be trashed by those who don't get it (that would be pretty much everybody over 9) is its timing: Its release comes on the heels of a bunch of Bop-related hoopla, including a "Kidz Bop World Tour" and a redesigned website that lets kids submit their own music videos. Let the bopping, and the grown-up groaning, begin. --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Reviews:
Kids like it. Who would've guessed?.......2007-08-07
My two children, aged 6 & 4, successfully campaigned for the inclusion of this CD into our road-trip repertoire. They cheerfully sit in the back and sing along to every track. The Kidz Bop franchise is perfectly suited for its target audience (i.e., the under-12 group), but don't expect your 15 year old niece to want it for her birthday. It's a little saccharine for adults to stomach, but not so horribly awful that you feel the need to spork your own ears in self-defense.
This is a great pick for kids growing out of The Wiggles and Backyardigans CDs, but not quite ready for uncensored radio play.
13 is next. Let's hope the series takes a dive, thanks to unlucky 13.......2007-08-07
I wasn't entirely planning to write a review of this, but I think that another kidz bop deserves to have the average star lowered. More people should listen to what the one star reviewers of other ambysal kidz bop albums.
The amazon review says that people over 9 don't "get it". That's a bunch of bull____. There's nothing to get, this music is just horrible, and the fact that she uses a concept of getting the music, man, forget it. She is supporting this evil, wretched, horrible music, just by saying that some people don't get it, but's it's actually get. Blasphemy!

Much Better than the Original Versions.......2007-08-01
You know, its an amazing thing when a Kids Compilation of original songs redux sounds better than the original recordings themselves. This is especially clear on this new volume of Kids Bop. Here are the highlights:
1. "Beautiful Liar" - The original by Shakira and Beyonce is done very well here, with the kids performing the hard to comprehend chorus very well. In fact, on this version, you can actually understand the words! Better than the original!
2. "The Sweet Escape" - Originally by Gwen Stefani, this is a definite standout.
3. "Say It Right" - Originally by Nelly Furtado, this is a hard song to perform, but you know what - I love this version!
4. "What Goes Around" - This amazing song by Justin Timberlake is done even better here - a great, solid track
5. "Never Again" - This Kelly Clarkson song sounds like it was made for the Kids! If you remember their AMAZING cover of "Since You've Been Gone", you'll know that they fare especially well covering Kelly's songs. This is really amazing stuff here, and I suggest you pick this up if only for this track!!
Seriously, this is a wonderful album. Much better than most compilation albums, this one soars when it has to, and the song selection is much better than the NOW series. Yes, these are covers done by kids, but they are NOT cheap recordings - on the other hand, they lend a very hummable, singable quality to all the tracks here, and make every one of them instantly memorable.
All Kids Bop albums are masterpieces. This one really ups it a notch. FIVE STARS!

Good mixture of pop, R&B, and poppy-rap... if that's a genre.......2007-08-07
Since 1998, NOW That's What I Call Music has been putting out 2 or 3 albums a year showcasing the most "popular" music of the short period each disc represents. And now, less than a decade after their first release, they've hit a landmark: number 25. Not that the 25th volume is seperated from the previous 24 in any way, it's just a nice round number. Once again, the producers of NOW have simply included 20 hits from popular artists that received the most radio play and set it out for the masses to enjoy.
Most of the songs presented on this compiliation received so much radio play that listeners will recognize them whether or not they ever listened to pop, R&B, or hip-hop stations. You know them; they play in the mall, at theme parks, in commercials, on tv shows, insistently putting themselves out there for everyone's listening pleasure. And if you've honestly never heard any of these songs, then you're probably not reading this review because you're not at all interested in pop music, shopping, or television.
Volume 25 includes a good mixture of pop, hip-hop, and poppy rap... if that's a genre. There's also a few country songs thrown in for good measure. Each song is a little more saccharine than the last, and the entire collection of 20 songs has about as much substance as a pound of cotton candy. But of course, substance isn't what's important here. What's important is if these songs and artists are recognizable. And with names like Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Fall Out Boy, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and Keith Urban, it's hard to deny that this is a high profile compilation. And for inoffensive and popular background music at a party, there's probably not a better collection out there. It's even better if it's a junior high party.

Better Than Expected.......2007-07-18
I am not going to make this a long review of Now! 25, it is a very well rounded collection of songs, put together much better than, Now! 24, 25 has a long of hits on it and I so far have listened to songs 1-7, without skipping also, songs 15, 17 and 18. That adds up to 10 songs in all that I've listened to, which is exactly half of the CD. Much of the same candidates are found , however Carrie Underwood makes her first appearance on a Now Cd, and after a 2 Now! abscence, Keith Urban returns. But like I said very good CD, well worth the purchase, cannot wait for Now! 26 due somewhere in November. A+
1. Fall out Boy B+
2. Avril Lavigne A+
3. Gwen Stefani B+
4. P!nk A+++++++++++++++++++++
5. Fergie C+
6. Beyonce/Shakira A+++++++++++++++
7. Justin Timberlake A++++++++++++++++
15. Kelly Clarkson A+++++++++++++++++++
17. Keith Urban A++++++++++++++++++++++
18. Carrie Underwood A++++++++++++++++++
In future Now! CD's I will no longer review, songs that I have never heard so only songs I know will get reviewed, that's way only 10 appear in this review.

Is Anyone Even Buying These Anymore?.......2007-07-18
Now That's What I Call Music! Is back yet again with another CD of songs played heavily on radio and hit the most "buy now" buttons on iTunes, which of course defines them as hits. Or are they? Two questions come up when looking at the 25th edition's tracklist. First, is Akon the most popular hook artist out right now? And secondly, more like a statement, why is the tracklist full of commerical hip-hop artists? The 25th edition proves a fair set of songs for the average NOW buyer. Sure, we have hot hits from Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, P!nk, and Justin Timberlake. We have hip-hop tracks from commerical acts Lloyd, T-Pain, Huey, and Bow Wow, along with mainstays Bone Thugs N Harmony and R&B artists Elliott Yamin and Ne-Yo in the mix. Then the pop-rockers ranging from huge acts Kelly Clarkson and Fall Out Boy to newcomers Boys Like Girls. And for 24 lacking the token country track, you now have both Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban stringing the violins and guitars. Therefore, the disc offers a fair selection, but quite a bit too many newcomers and feels more like a place to put your music to promotion then adding what really is hot. Too often, the newcomers take potiental spots from hot current artists, prime examples being Timbaland, Rihanna, Maroon 5, and especially summer flirt Sean Kingston. And that makes a thought that the disc is more suited to the young teens, as dance craze hip-hop artists such as T-Pain, Huey, and Mims get most of the spotlight. Aside from the hits, the tracklist may feel too empty to the older consumer. Still, Now That's What I Call Music! 25 offers a fair enough amount of hits and shouldn't disappoint too many who venture it, especially for a more summer suited disc, but some earlier editions are more versatile in their selections. 3 stars.

Few bands of the 1960s retained as much a sense of the roots of rock and roll as did Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles--most of which are present on this collection. These include "I Heard It through the Grapevine," "Lodi," "Up Around the B ," "Who'll Stop the Rain," and of course "Bad Moon Rising." This is an excellent greatest-hits collection, and a perfect introduction to the music of a band that has been enduringly influential. --Genevieve Williams

An excellent greatist hits CD, I used a handful of songs to burn a CD with other related style of music.
great stuff.......2007-06-27
listening to this CD makes you realize how great john fogerty was back in the day. great songs, great sound.
Gets me going in the morning.......2007-06-27
I've been listening to this CD for 2 weeks in my car on the way to work.
Soundtrack of an era.......2007-06-15
This is an excellent compilation of CCR's tunes from the late 60s, early 70s. There's a reason why Credence tunes kept popping up in movies and commercials. It's great music and evocative of the era from which it comes. No need for me to review the individual tunes; anybody with a radio has head most of them. A must-have for any music fan.

Log onto an India.Arie lyrics page and you won't come away expecting an easy-breezy listen--here's an artist, remember, who made a name for herself by declaring her disdain for silicone and Cristal on her 2001 debut. What's consistently a revelation for new recruits to the Arie camp, then, is how good the music makes you feel. No matter how heavy the subject matter (and it still gets heavy--God surfaces in the first verse of "Intro," the prayerful opening song), she delivers it in such a way that it ends up feeling like homespun wisdom--accessible, cloudless, and heartening. Testimony, no minor R&B/soul achievement, is full of such earth-mother moments: "The Heart of the Matter," a cover of the Don Henley song, is what a hug might sound like if it were music; "There's Hope" reminds tunefully that you don't have to pay to smile ("You better thank God for that"); "Private Party" points up the benefits of getting naked before a mirror and liking what you see (impossible as that sounds, it'll seem less so after listening); and "I Am Not My Hair," a sexy thumper featuring Akon, celebrates not the hair, not the skin, but "the soul that lives within." Musically, "Testament" is a testament to the benefits of branching out; in addition to gospel and hip-hop, you'll also find country and pure pop forays here. All of it works, and works wondrously. Arie may be the Oprah of the music world: she's spiritual, she's got her head screwed on straight, and whatever she touches turns to gold. Or at least it ought to. --Tammy La Gorce

Great Album.......2007-07-20
I can't lie, I am more of a hip-hop head than a R&B guy, but I can't front this is a great album. I heard a song from this album playing in someone else's car one day when I was coming from work and had to get it just to see how it was and I love it. This is great chill music. India.Arie is a great artist and deserves alot more acclaim than she already gets from the poetry, jazz club, type of crowd that she normally receives it from. Great overall album.
All Time Favorite Album Right Now!.......2007-07-17
India's lyrics really speak from her soul without any sugar coating or whining. On top of that she is rhythmically and melodically talented. She keeps it real and I love her for that. Very inspirational! I recommend this album to anyone who loves r & b and has been craving some r & b with inspirational, moving lyrics that you can identify with.

Tim McGraw's second greatest-hits collection in six years is also his ninth consecutive debut at #1 on the Billboard country charts. That means he must be doing something right. But what, precisely, aside from keeping up his hunk factor, and maturing his voice? Well--choosing dynamic songs that resonate at the very core of most folks' emotional center, for starters. So it's no surprise that this 16-song package kicks off with "Live Like You Were Dying," his ten-week #1 crossover hit. In addition to chart-toppers dating from 1995 ("Not a Moment Too Soon"), McGraw fills the track list with two smashes that never appeared on his own albums: his Grammy-winning duet with wife Faith Hill, "Like We Never Loved At All," and "Over and Over," the soulful Nelly confession in which McGraw, his voice technically altered, essentially serves as the rapper's tortured psyche. Of the four new songs, a cover of Ryan Adams's "When the Stars Go Blue" emerges as a stellar example of the pained loner ballads McGraw does so well, and brings to mind the faint desperation inherent in his interpretation of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer." And "My Little Girl," one of two rare McGraw co-writes here (joining "I've Got Friends Who Do"), draws on his experience as a parent and promises to flatten any father who's ever tucked in his daughter. Through the years, McGraw's on-record persona has evolved from the wimpish underdog ("Don't Take the Girl") to the strong, sensitive alpha male, both in his take-charge delivery and his sometimes edgy repertoire ("Red Ragtop"). All in all, this lengthy, hooky offering isn't just a "value pack" for McGraw fans--it's reason to hire a skywriter. --Alanna Nash
Album Description
Tim McGraw Reflected: Hits Vol 2, his second collection of greatest hits. Showcasing a body of work bookended by 1994's "Not A Moment Too Soon" and 2006's "My Old Friend," it is a reminder of the consistency and depth that have made him such an icon. Several of the songs are drawn from two albums he recorded in a mountaintop retreat with his touring band, 2002's Tim McGraw & the Dancehall Doctors, and 2004's Live Like You Were Dying. Together, they sold seven million copies, and between them they produced hits like "Watch The Wind Blow By," "Red Ragtop," "She's My Kind of Rain," "Real Good Man," and the ten-week #1, "Live Like You Were Dying," all of which are included here. The project also includes "Everywhere," from the CD of the same name, and "Grown Men Don't Cry" and "The Cowboy In Me," from 2001's "Set This Circus Down."

good music.......2007-05-14
My daughter is getting married and wanted a song from this cd to use I was delighted that I liked the other music just as well
Butchery.......2007-04-06
A decent collection overall of his "good" songs (I don't really like him anyways), but he completely manages to butcher "When the Stars Go Blue." The original is WAY better, and The Corrs covered it with Andrea and Bono (from U2) MUCH better. The country twang just totally kills the mood of the song. I am a professional audio engineer, and heard him do this song live and it just made me cringe. Skip this CD.
not the best.......2007-03-28
Not Tim's best work. I only liked 1 of the tracks. Spend your money on his most recent albums. I don't think these were his greatest hits.
Great songs on this CD.......2007-03-26
I love this entire CD. This one is worth it. Sometimes I have bought a CD for 1 or 2 songs. This one is full of great songs.
He's Horrible.......2007-03-04
McGraw is a pretentious, talentless slimeball who exploits the ignorance and poor taste of his fans. His songs are mediocre at best and generally unlistenable to anyone who appreciates good music. Basically, he is a talentless slob who ranks among all the other bubble-gum pop/country performers as forgettable and pretentious.
And if that wasn't enough, he absolutely butchers Ryan Adams' beautiful song "When The Stars Go Blue." It's tough to hear McGraw hack such a lovely song, but at least Adams (who is one of the better singer/songwriters around in any genre) is making some money for it.
If you like good music or real artists, you should look elsewhere - perhaps check out Ryan Adam's original version of "When The Stars Go Blue". Regardless, McGraw is a classless act and a mockery to the country music establishment.

Great Children's CD.......2007-07-12
I grew up listening to these songs on an old record that my parents had. We lost the record and I searched for these songs for my new little baby girl. I am so happy that I found it on Amazon and that my baby girl gets to grow up with the same classics that I did when I was a kid. The CD is wonderful and the price was even better.
Aww the good old times!.......2007-06-18
I grew up with this music!! My dad bought the records when I was little, YES records! Im 25yrs old so this was the late the 80's when he purchased it. Now I have the opportunity to introduce this to my children! I'm so glad they are continuing to sell this music because I loved it as a child. I still remember taking the records out and asking my parents to play it.
Walt Disney CD: Characters Do Not Sing.......2007-06-06
I'm a little disappointed. I purchased this CD thinking The Disney Characters would be singing the songs. My son was all excited when I showed him the CD and asked me to play it. When he heard it he said "this is not Mickey Mouse". He was very sad. The songs on this CD are sung by children. The CD is ok.
Garbage.......2007-05-13
Really very boring and campy - I can't bear to listen and wish I could return it. In fact all of the Disney Lullabuys and children's songs were downright horrible. Stick with Baby Einstein, Rock a Bye Baby and Just for Kids - Curious George is great too
Yeah!.......2007-03-04
Much better than all of those other randon baby CD's where all of the songs sound exactly the same and sound like they are sung by chipmunks!!

Customer Reviews:
WTF?.......2007-06-21
I see this has "Waiting on the World to Change." How long have these children been waiting? since the Commercial break for Spongebob? Yeech!!!!
Disturbing! What is wrong with parents?.......2007-06-12
OMG..."Irreplacable" & "Lips of an Angel". Parents need to read the lyrics to these songs. These are songs with adult content. Man, they will sell anything to gullible parents.
Marilyn Manson is more kid-friendly than this.
Please spare us all of this horrid monstrosity........2007-05-31
What the hell is this? Kidz Bop takes crappy generic pop songs, but instead of gay male altos and sellout whores singing, you get children! Why would you create such torturous music? It makes me want to bite my penis off. Also, I'm tired of seeing those commercials on my cartoon stations. Dammit.
A disturbing warp on good songs.......2007-05-19
I'll make this short and sweet: Kidzbop destroys good songs. It is actually amusing though to see just how horribly they distort them. All the children singing have extremely exasperating voices and after the initial amusement at the lameness, Kidzbop just oozes annoyance. You couldn't pay me enough to make me want to listen to this CD.
Kidz Bop, Vol. 11 review.......2007-05-15
My four year old son loves this CD. In fact, he likes all the Kidz Bop CD's. It's nice that he can listen to popular music without being exposed to anything inappropriate.

Rounds out your collection of this great singer writer........2007-08-06
Saw Bob Seger in Feb 07 and he did a few songs from this album, so I bought it the next day. Not quite as great as the first Best Hits album but it is needed for a more complete collection. I like the song 'Understanding' and never heard it before.
Real Music.......2007-07-18
Whether you choose Bob Seger Greatest Hits Volume 1 or Volume 2 you are in for a treat. A feast for the ears and soul.
Great CD.......2007-06-27
Great CD Not the typical Grt. Hits Cd with a couple of good songs and the rest just filler. A good choice
Bob Seger Rocks.......2007-05-13
This CD is excellent. It has many great songs that were on movie
sound tracks, and were not available on Bob Seger CDs.
Comfort music........2007-04-14
Some of these songs are old friends and the others are becoming my new friends.

This soundtrack to the hit TV series starts off with a melancholy ballad by Denver's the Fray (fittingly titled "How to Save a Life"), but the well-curated CD isn't all thoughtful adult alt-rock--reflecting the series' mood changes, it offers a wide range of modern sounds. In addition to the expected acoustical numbers (in this case, from Anya Marina, KT Tunstall, and Snow Patrol's live version of "Chasing Cars"), the album reaches across genres and continents to offer the sunny-'60s-pop vibe of Jim Noir's "I Me You," Jamie Lidell's electro-jazzy "Multiply," the edgy punky-pop aggro of Metric, the rambunctious "Sexy Mistake" from the Chalets, and the winning singalong misanthropy of singer-songwriter Foy Vance's "I Hate Everyone." Ursula 1000's Alex Gimeno lightens up the proceedings with one of his trademark upbeat, hip-gyrating numbers (which seems to pay tribute to Serge Gainsbourg's "Comic Strip"), while the Moonbabies' sweet, swirling harmonies deliver the kind of perfectly crafted pop we've come to expect from the Swedes. If this compilation turns people on to these deserving acts, it will have done its job. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
great cd.......2007-07-19
I love when I am watching the show and I start to bob to the music in the background. I always wonder who sings the songs. This cd is perfect not just for a Grey's fan but a music fan as well. There is no worry of language, you can play it around kids. I really love this cd.
GREY'S SOUNDTRACK CD.....A WINNER.......2007-06-27
Like anything associated with this great show, Volume 2 of the Grey's Anatomy Soundtrack is great. But not as great as listening to the music while watching the show simultaneously, I'm afraid. The music is unique, creative and non-trendy. All pluses. Unfortunately, the soundtrack CD's of Grey's Anatomy do not contain pop-up images of Drs. Shepherd, Blake and Karev! ):
not at all what I hoped.......2007-06-25
My wife and I are big fans of Grey's and the music we hear on the show. I dont know if the cd just doesnt fit without the show in the foreground, but we both were very disappointed at this CD.
Great Selection of Artists.......2007-05-15
The music complimented the show, but can truly stand on its own merits. I felt the same way about the Touched By An Angel soundtracks too.
Grey's Anatomy, Vol. 2 was all I hoped for.......2007-05-13
There are some songs on this album that I play over and over. The Fray's "How to Save a Life", Gomez's "How We Operate", Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars". I knew I wanted those. There were surprise faves too, like Jamie Lidell and The Moonbabies. All the moody stuff that underlies the heartbreak scenes, as well as the quirky, upbeat songs that make the show watchable. I'll probably end up buying Vol. 1 and whatever comes next.

great songs!.......2007-07-29
I bought this CD to work out with. It is great! Keeps me moving!
Putrid.......2007-06-21
I think this series perpetuates bad music. Observe- If I were in a band, and we somehow got famous, I would be livid if my music somehow wound up on this or on Kidz Bop. Therefore, Musicians (who care about music and fanbase rather than money and sales) are inadvertantly discouraged to make music that sells!
Of course, this is not exactly the case, but I would make sure my record contract included a clause to keep me off of these albums, if that's possible
1,2,3...22,23,24!.......2007-06-15
It's not the first CD, but the 24th! Now 24 has all of the recent "chart-topping hits"!
The first song is "Fergalicious" from Fergie. I would much rather just skip over that. Then it's Rihanna featuring Sean Paul with "Break it Off". Anyone who loves listening to them separately loves listening to them together. Next, "Say it Right" by Nelly Furtado, a slower song that is forgetable. Singing "Irreplaceable", Beyonce has hit the charts once again. A somewhat slow but catchy song is okay for me. Number five is "My Love" by Justin Timberlake. Again, I would much rather just skip over that. Akon appears with Snoop Dog singing "I Wanna Love You". This song was a very popular song, but gets a little old after a while. Bow Wow, Chris Brown, and Johnta Austin sing "Shortie Like Mine". This song is a very interesting song to listen to. Llyod and Lil Wayne with "You" is just another song. Two thumbs down for me. Song number nine is "Promise". Ciara has also hit the charts, but I don't treasure this song. Omarion appears with "Ice Box". I would definitely skip over that song. Chris Brown reappears singing "Say Goodbye" on track eleven. If you like that style of music, then you might enjoy this song. Corinne Bailey Rae sings "Put Your Records On". A slower song, but does speed up and slow down throughout the song. It could grow on you, though. Lily Allen with "Smile" appears on track thirteen. Knowing whom Lily Allen is and listening to her all of the time, is interesting to know that she made it on the charts (and on this CD) for being a fairly new artist. "Suyddenly I See" by KT Tunstall is a unique song that really stands out on this CD. I love listening to "Here (in Your Arms)" by Hellogoodbye. It is somewhat slow, but is very different. Track number sixteen is "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. This song has a short story beneath the music; I love it! With constantly listening to The Fray, it doesn't surprise me that "How To Save A Life" is on the CD. A very sad and slow song is also amazing at the same time. Another sad but amazing song "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback, which is absolutely amazing. Song after song, Nickelback is always perfecting them to once again hit the charts. On season five of American Idol, Chris Daughtry sings "It's Not Over" which amazes the "crowd" once again! The All-American Rejects appear on track twenty to end with "It Ends Tonight". It fits in perfectly with the sad and slower songs.
If you enjoy pop music, (or even rock or hip-hop), you would definitely enjoy this CD.
Excellent CD!!!!!.......2007-05-15
If you really need to be updated with the recent hits all around the USA, so you MUST buy this CD: it is an excellent compilation of all kinds of genres: rap, r&b, dance, rock and country. I missed only the hit THAT'S WHY I'M HOT by MISM. I hope it will be included on the next CD Now 25...
Aceptable.......2007-05-13
Es aceptable, aunque no todos los temas son muy buenos. De todos modos, hay que elegir solo lo que a uno le gusta.
