Cooking up all sorts of gangsta grooves and other rap goodies, Mack 10 offers up The Recipe. Without taking this food metaphor too far, The Recipe is rather like a buffet--Mack 10 works with different artists and producers on practically every song and, as a result, the quality can be uneven. Musically, there are few surprises on the album, though Mack 10's gangsta-izing of the familiar "Heartbeat" sample for his duet with Snoop Dogg on "LBC and the ING" is flavorful enough, as is the sugar-sweet pop of "You Ain't Seen Nothin'" (which features Jermaine Dupri and Foxy Brown). Despite cameos by Big Pun and Fat Joe, this is still an album made for those yelling, "Westside till I die!" The Recipe neither embarrasses nor elevates the reality-rap world. --Oliver Wang

Mack is at his best when he sticks to his bread- and-butter topic--hoo bangin' with the homies--as he does on tracks like "Gangsta Shit's Like a Drug" and "The Letter." The latter, an open missive to gangsta rap critics, illustrates the capitalistic tendencies of gangsta rappers....

The weakest BR release but much better than all their post '96 albums.......2007-07-25

A lot of people praise this album a lot saying it is probably Bad Religion's best release...I have to say that I strongly disagree.

IMO 'Recipe For Hate' comes across as a mediocre continuation of the brilliant 'Generator' album. The songwriting is in the same vain, concentrating in more mid-tempo and clean passages and more throughout guitars and lyrics. That's not a bad thing but the problem here is that unlike Generator most songs sound mediocre or uninspired compared to the rest. Tracks like "Recipe For Hate", "Leave Mine To Me", "American Jesus", "Watch It Die", "Struck A Nerve" and "Skyscraper" are truly outstanding compositions that might be better than some of the bands previous efforts. On the other hand tracks like 'Portrait Of Authority', 'Modern Day Catastrophists', 'My Poor Friend Me' and 'Kerosene' are pretty bad...

Anyways Bad Religion's weakest could be another band's greatest, so no major complaints here. The musicianship and lyrics of the good songs are outstanding as in all of their releases up to 'The Gray Race'. Some tracks have excellent guitar work (including some great solos), better vocals and more progressive ideas (like the inclusion of metal and alternative rock influences at small parts).

Overall 'Recipe For Hate' is a nice release but compared to the bands previous and 2 future offerings it comes up a bit short. (Definitely not an album for new BR fans, try 'Against The Grain' or 'Stranger Than Fiction' first)

Different but good.......2007-07-08

I like this album...the songs are very diverse. The album has a darker feel to it than the previous ones and that dark approach continued on Generator. The only song that doesnt really fit on here is Kerosene. Seriously they should have shoved it onto The New America seven years later in 2000. The other complaint I have is that the sound quality is pretty bad...not as bad as the sound quality on the SACD of Stranger Than Fiction but still not up to par.

However on with the good...
the songs themselves are really good. The lyrics as always are thought provoking and interesting and the harmonies and backup vocals from other musicians on 'Watch It Die' and 'Struck A Nerve' are very well placed.
The drumming and guitar work is also very well implemented to fit each song. The song 'All Good Soldiers' is actually quite good...don't know why many people don't like it. It sounds kinda like 'Atomic Garden' from Generator...well thats the feeling I get from the song anyway.

My top 5 songs in no order from this album would be:
Recipe For Hate, American Jesus, My Poor Friend Me, Lookin' In and Skyscraper.

I know my review was short but im hungover right now and really dont have the time to write a long review...the music speaks for itself anyway...

Bad Religion at their finest.......2006-11-05

Although I am not a fan of Punk Rock, I find Bad Religion to be great since once in a while they will release a song/political statement that is really clever and well presented. Recipe for Hate is not their best release musically (for that I would recommend "No Substance"), but lyrically there are several tracks that really appeal to me. Portrait of Authority and Skyscraper are two tracks that really got me hooked to Bad Religion. Although I do not agree with all of Bad Religions statements and opinions(actually, I disagree with most of them), I am glad that they go on stating them.

This is a great album with some of the best punk songs I have heard. Stuck a nerve is probably my favourite cut on the album, with American Jesus and Recipe for Hate following behind.

A note to Agnostic Vegetarian "Sizemore": In Watch it die, it is not Greg who sings the 'put to sleep' verse. It is Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.

Skynyrd meets Metillica, HARD southern Rock!.......2006-04-27

Ok, WHERE HAVE I BEEN! ! These guys are UNREAL! ! How could these guys have been around so long, even close by in central NY and I haven't heard of them until now. From the minute you put this CD in your player you will be blown away!

Here is my review. Just to level set you I'm a 40 year old male who grew up during the hay days of AC/DC, GNR, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Skynyrd and all the rest of them. I party hard and love HARD ROCK. Ok, now your level set.

I heard a track from BNS on hardradio.com (internet radio) because very few of the radio stations seek out and play anything new these days. The track I heard was "Black and Blue". Ok it was good and it caused me to research these guys. I listened to the cruddy 30 sec samples on Amazon and took a chance. BEST music money I have spent in YEARS!

Brand New Sin (BNS) is a Lynyrd Skynyrd and Metallica mix with modern hard rock riffs and power cords. It is soulful, gritty, raspy southern style rock that is in your face. Everything on this CD rocks! The guitar action is awesome. They can slow it down, speed it up and intermix the two. The transitions and solos are very well timed and played. I'm not sure what they are using for pickups on the Ax's but they are really hot (EMG?). The vocals are blue's soulful southern rock in style and the lead man has the strength to get right in and mix it up with the rest of the bands power. The bass and drummer carry everyone along in time and really fill out the ticket.

My favorite tracks (like there are any I don't like) would have to be 3- Brown Street Betty, 5- Runnin' Alone, 7- Vicious Cycles, and 13- Wyoming. However it is hard to pick favorites because every track on this CD is good.

The CD starts off right away big as life and in your face with 1- Arrived and boy have they. I just don't see how the radio stations and music industry are going to be able to ignore these guys now! This track is a prelude for the rest of the musical pleasure that you are in for, hard rocking, guitar and vocally loaded. They follow this up with 2- The loner which is more of what they provided in the first track.

Then you get to 3- Brown Street Betty. I dare anyone to listen to this track and not turn up your radio as loud as it will go! By the end of the song you will be singing the course right along with the lead. This song has it all, mix of awesome well played solo guitar riffs that will send shivers up and down your spine, to mixes of slow and pounding vocals and guitars.

4- Black and Blue is the track I heard on the internet radio. Most of this song is like tracks 1 & 2, in your face hard rock.

Having pounded you into musical bliss for 4 songs the band now mixes it up with the best blues/hard rock song I have heard in at least 10 years. I would have bought the CD just for this song alone. 5- Runnin' Alone starts off with electric acoustic guitars, demonstrating the bands ability to show case playing talent other than the detuned power cords of the hard electric they play so well. The drummer comes in and plays a constant, strong foot pedal throughout the song. This is so well done it will have you matching his beat on your desk, dash, floor and anything else that is within reach. Half way through the song the band blends in the electric riffs your body is now begging for right on top of the acoustic cords. And as with all the tracks the lead mixes in his skill and vocal talents with that incredible rock voice he has.

Having cooled you off for 4 minutes they come right back and pick it up again with 6- Freight Train. This is followed by 7- Vicious Cycles which is again in keeping with their forte. Some of the solo guitar riffs in this tune have some of the spacey Floyd like stuff going on while others remind you of Axel (GNR). 8- Another Reason starts out with a short slow acoustic intro and then picks it up a bit. This song levels out and just kind of rides a medium tempo and pace.

9- Days Are Numbered comes right in detuned, distorted and in your face. I think this is the first song on the CD in which the rest of the band members sing backing vocals also.

10- Once In a Life Time - half acoustic and half electric. This is a slow mellow metal song. There are a number of good solo electric riff played on top of the acoustic under toe.

11- Dead Man Walking - closes up their in your face rock on this CD. There are sections of fast lyrics which rhyme, but this is no crappy RAP rock thing. This is your final dose of in your face rock (at least until you start the CD over again).

12- Gluch - this is a short melodic interlude until you get to the final track no the CD.

13- Wyoming - Your last and final dose of that bluesy, smoky hard rock. Once again slow, heavily distorted power cords with awesome change ups in speed and sprinkled with blistering solo guitar riffs from that ax with the hottest pickups around. An unbelievable track that should be getting play time everywhere.

If you are a fan of Metallica, Skynyrd, GNR, AC/DC, Ozzy, or any of the newer bands, Tool, Sinch, Soil, Shinedown, Staind, Seether, Creed, Fuel, Saliva, etc...

GET THIS CD! You can thank me later . . .

Brand New Sin are the REAL DEAL!!!.......2006-03-09

When I heard this album for the first time, I liken it back to when I first heard Guns N' Roses "Appetite for Destruction". I just knew that this band was the REAL Deal. Unfortunately, with the sad state of the music industry today, I fear that this band won't get the exposure they so rightly deserve. Both of BNS's albums totally kick A#$... you will not be disappointed. They rock live, too. They opened for Black Label Society at the Fillmore and tore they house down.

Sonically, I'd describe Brand New Sin as a 'swampy' blend of AC/DC, Corrosion of Conformity, Black Sabbath and Guns.

Rip Roaring RAGING ROCK!!!!!!!.......2006-01-06

While horrid radio-"rock" songs like Nickelback's wussy "Photograph and Korn's unlyrical "...only me," plague stations claiming to play REAL rock, someone somewhere is actually listening to it!

Meet "Brand New Sin," a band with absolute realness to guitars and vocals. Their downhome metal-esque attitude isn't fake. These guys mean business and will kick your arse!

This CD is really rockin! This is not background Muzak music. You will not hear this at a Kmart ...*cough* Nickelback...haha

"Loner," "Days Are Numbered" and "Brown Street Betty" are my personal favorites. "Loner" would definatly make an awesome radio single. No offense to the band but the song sounds like old-school Nickelback w/Godsmack.

The lyrics on every song are simplistic but understandable and real. The guitars crank out the amazing voice the lead has and it's just a tight setup for a good rock band...basically these guys kick butt, so go out and listen to 'em!

Great Ass Kicking Rock & Roll!.......2005-11-19

This is one damned fine hard rocking album. The singer has a voice that reminds me of Pantera when they were starting but he's not a copy of anything. I've seen reviews where they mention southern rock and I'm sure they've listened to a lot but Brand New Sin is not doing nostalgia. Rock & rolls has roots in different places and that's where they find some of theirs. Songs like 'Black and Blue', 'Freight Train', 'Days Are Numbered' and 'Dead Man Walking' are rock & roll at its purest & hardest. They also pull off softer songs like 'Running Alone' and 'Wyoming'. These guys are pretty new and I hope they keep putting out great music like this.

More comedy monologue than musical performance, Bea Arthur's one-woman show Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends collects memories from the silver-haired star's life on Broadway (Fiddler on the Roof, Mame, The Threepenny Opera) and television (Maude, The Golden Girls).

"I wanted to see if I had the guts to just come and be myself," Arthur says in this performance recorded in front of a live audience in December 2001. Alongside co-creator and pianist Billy Goldenberg, she offers wry and often funny anecdotes about her career and the people she's worked with (Angela Lansbury, Pia Zadora). When she does sing ... well, even decades ago Arthur didn't have a beautiful voice, but she's well-suited to the comedy songs. And her versions of Kurt Weill's "Pirate Jenny" and Goldenberg's own "Fifty Percent"--while they won't make anyone forget Lotte Lenya or Dorothy Loudon--are effective in their own right. Bea Arthur on Broadway is definitely more Bea than Broadway, but it's a career well worth remembering. --David Horiuchi

Thank goodness this is available on CD. I saw the show twice in Manhattan and once in P-town MA. She is an American treasure. What's nice is that you don't need to have had seen the live performance to enjoy this CD. (Though I'd love to have it on DVD.) Just Bea, Billy, a piano and yet so much more!!!!!

Golden Girl Shines Brightly.......2005-10-21

For anyone who has ever laughed as Bea Arthur deftly put people in their place with her lightning quick wit as Dorothy on the "Golden Girls", they will not be disappointed with this CD. Arthur, some 9 years after leaving the small screen, returns triumphantly to her professional roots, the stage, and does not disappoint. Mixing antedotal stories with classic songs, all to the accompianment of Billy Goldenburg, Arthur weaves her life in a brillant 90 minute tapestry so that the listener regrets ever reaching the end. Anyone who has ever seen Arthur perform on stage, or as Maude or Dorothy, they will not regret purchasing this CD. For that rare minority of people who have not have the privilage of seeing Arthur previously should find out what they have been missing of this American icon.

Alive and Unforgettable.......2004-11-21

Bea Arthur. Nearing 80. And yet, her continuing vitality is blatantly obvious in this live recording. I will tell you this--I bought this disc with no expectations whatsoever. I like Golden Girls as much as the next chap, and I was slightly curious about what Bea had become.

The simple truth was that I was stunned. Completely stunned. Again, this sounds as the same, alive, malicious woman who portrayed those "affirmative women" on TV (per her own words). She mocks her own voice, recalling the humiliation of being mistaken for the man of the house through the phone ... and some--who buy this disk with the intent of getting a faultless musical performance--might agree (and according to some reviews her, HAVE agreed) that her voice is perhaps too deep, too cutting, not pure enough. But this is NOT (and I stress it) a musical performance per se, it is not a perfectly rounded voice singing perfect standards.

What this disc is? A drama performance. The songs are intermissed with speech interludes, during which Bea narrates anecdotes from her past experience as an actress--and that's is PRECISELY what is MAGIC. You feel as though she's inviting you to witness the high points of her life, and it's a very nice place. The songs, seem alive as rarely before, because they are performed. She renders them with life, and make the most of her abilities.

I really appreciated some of the smaller things. You get to recognize her trademark, slightly embarassed, `You know' ... She'll make you laugh with good natured reminiscence ("A Mother's Ingenuity"!); some of the songs are delightfully imperfect, (I learned to love the half-sung/half-spoken "What Do You Start" ...), some others are wonderfully dynamic ("What Can You Get a Nudist For Her Birthday?", "Threepenny Opera/Pirate Jenny" ...), but all are very enjoyable ...

Be it "Isn't He Adorable?" or "If I Can't Sell It, I'll Keep Sittin' on It" ... every track on this disc will have you fondly reminisce or curiously discover the career of one helluva woman.

You really can't be disappointed. I promise.

A trip down memory lane..........2003-10-19

Bea Arthur, one of the finest performers of her time.
Bea is most known for her role on the sitcoms Golden Girls and Maude, but she's done so much theater work as well.
She was in the cast of the original U.S production of "Threepenny Opera" starring Lotta Lenya, and in the original cast of "Fiddler On The Roof" and "Mame". But Bea started her theater career in a show called "The Shoestring Revue".
Bea stoled the scene every night when she performed as yente the Matcmaker on "Fiddler On The Roof" and she also got a hole lot of response as Vera Charles on "Mame", starring Angela Lansbury. In this live performence Bea performs a collection of songs chosen by herself, such as, "Let's Face The Music And Dance", "Isn't He Adorable", "Fifty Percent" and her theme song from Mame "The Man In The Moon". Bea is absolutely one of our time finest performers, with her witty sence of knowledge and her indefiable voice she has establised herself as a broadway legend, alongside Judy Garland, Elaine Stritch, Mary Martin. She is one of the last broadway female legends alive. And still going strong, Bea is rounding 80, but you wouldn't notice.
Do yourself a favour and take a trip down down memory lane, it's your chance to hang out with the last female broadway legend around.

A Truly Remarkable Accomplishment.......2003-06-16

As a huge fan of Bea Arthur's, I was very excited when I heard she would return to Broadway to do a one-woman show. Not since winning the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for "Mame" has Bea Arthur been on stage. Well, what a way to follow up! This cd (which was recorded during a live performance) Bea gives fans an intimate look into her show business life. The stories are very funny and touching, and the songs (which Bea picked out herself) are fun, beautiful, and magical. A favorite part of this cd for me, is when Bea talks about her days on TV. She was the star of two very successful and groundbreaking sitcoms, "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" I am a huge fan of "The Golden Girls" and Bea's character Dorothy was always my favorite. This cd is a must for any Bea Arthur fan, but the appeal of this amazing show goes beyond her hardcore fans. Any fan of classic Broadway and cabaret songs will love this cd. This is one of the favorite cds I own, and should be treasured by more people. And finally, as a sidenote, Bea's one-woman show was nominated for a Tony Award in 2001 in the category of Best Special Theatrical Event.

Mack 10's Recipe For An Average Album (Rating: 5 out of 10- -2.5 stars).......2007-05-15

Mack 10's third album "The Recipe" is nothing special for this reviewer. On this album I find Mack 10's gangsta style lyrics to become repetitive and brings nothing new with this album, not to mention a guest appearance on almost every track. A lot of this album has a lot of skip that flows throughout. The first song that stood out was "Money Just A Touch Away" featuring Gerald Levart (R.I.P.), as he rhymes about him comming up in the rap game. Another dope track would be "Ghetto Horror Show" with Ice Cube and Jayo Felony. Mack 10 teams up with Snoop Dogg over an old school beat for the song "Long Beach & Inglewood". Mack 10 teams up with a lot of guests. Many East Coast and Down South, as well as some West Coast rappers who hit (Big Pun, Buckshot Shorty, ODB, MC Eiht), and some who miss (Jermaine Dupri, Foxy Brown, Master P, CJ Mac (sorry I can't stand him)). That can really cause an imbalance on the album and have some filler tracks like "Made ******" and "You Ain't Seen ****". Mack 10 closes the album with him addressing the critics on "The Letter", followed by a rock sounding track "Should I Stay, Or Should I Go" featuring Korn and Ice Cube. I enjoy Mack 10, but personally believe that he lacks charisma of carring an album by himself, and find it better when he is either rhyming in a group (Westside Connection), or being a guest on someone else's album (which might explain the high amount of tracks that feature guests). This album has your average dated topics and common material that might have sounded good back in 1998, but years later is dated. There are a few tracks here and there, but not enough to keep the album togeher. I find that this album is more suited for east coast listeners than it is for west. I understand the unity that was going on back then due to the circumstances of recent events, but this album pulls too far from it's west coast sound that makes the music sound the way it should. Unless you're a hardcore fan of Mack 10, I recommend that you find this album at a used price. Peace.

Good 3rd solo.......2005-03-04

Mack 10's 3rd solo album is pretty good. Out of the 14 songs, there is only 1 with no guests, and it's the 2nd best one on here (one song has a guest doing the hook). The guestare from his Hoo Bangin camp, other Cali rapper, some from down south, and a few more from the east. Production is pretty good and done by 7 people. Young Trey does 3, Binky Mack, Slice & Rhythm D, DJ Uneek, and Dutch all do 2 songs, and Payback & KLC each do 1 song. It has 1 classic, 1 near classic, 2 that I skip, 2 that are ok, and the other 8 are good. As usual the main concept is gangsta themes, hustling, and a dirty sdong or 2. A good album to have for Mack 10 fans and west coast fans alike.

3 great songs make this album okay.......2004-01-04

Mack 10 is a good rapper, but he is definitely a poser. I'm sure he hustled when he was still living in Inglewood, but that doesn't make him special. There are three really good songs on this album. The first is "Ghetto Horror Show," on which Mack 10, Jayo Felony, and Ice Cube compare street life to a horror movie. Cube kills Mack on this track, though, as he does on the album's second good song "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" This track is very unique for Mack 10 because it is a cover of the Clash's punk rock classic, and it features Korn. Still, "The Letter" is the greatest song Mack has ever written. This is the only song on the entire album with no guest lyricists, and Mack actually sounds like he's passionate about the topic instead of just trying to be cool. The album's cover is brilliant, but the album itself doesn't display very much genius.

This Mack 10 album is a must have.The beats is some of the best I've heard,and of course Mack 10 makes them gangsta songs which is the best.It's so many appearances on here I'm not even gonna try to name any.(...)even some of them eastcoast rappers was fittin in good on there songs cause I don't even like eastcoast rap like dat.It's so many tight songs on here,so the people that always have a favorite song can't even pick one on this joint.The only and only song Mack 10 didn't need on here is that song wit Jd and Foxy Brown.But it's still all good and if you don't got this album go get this joint and his other albums to for real.If you wanna convince someone who don't like Mack 10 like that, just play "Gangsta (...) like A Drug" ,like I said I don't have a favorite song on here but that song just haves that flavor that can make anybody like it.So go get this joint right now......Go!

Kia ora. To be brief, this album is a must for jaded ears. There's a good variety of 'acid jazz' cuts that keeps one's interest up throughout the album. Ninja Tunes' albums are always good, but this is the bees knees. Say no more.

DJ Food, a team of geniuses, I can`t believe I`m the first person to review this album on this slot, grooves fly like yoyo`s, scratching- feels good... DJ Food , now on Ninja Tunes, is one of a growing number of djs` leading the dance/jazz evoloution. ( I hope i`ve spelt that right ) Inventive eclectic djaying, Low key and up beat, tunes that make you want to smile and hug the person next to you. And live... it`s impossible not to just get up and dance. Also well worth listening to is an album called Cold Krush Cuts, which features a sixty minute cd, Cold Cut vs. Dj Food, playing a ninja tunes back catalogue and one of Dj Krush, it`s got everything an album should have and more. It`s so good it seems criminal to restrict it`s definition to acid jazz, it`s just great music. Alternatively browse through the ninja tunes catalogue yourself and pick just about any cd you like `cos it`s all top quality stuff. Go out and buy it, then tell your friends! =:)

Brother Ray.......2005-02-04

What more need be said about Brother Ray that hasn't been said already? He's the greatest, pure genius.
Interesting sidenote: check out "Ol' Man River" with headphones & listen carefully...you can hear a very faint ghost voice before certain phrases Ray sings. I thought it might have been one of the background singers reading the chart a little too loud at first but realized it was probably the engineer or producer on the session giving Brother Ray the lines through his headphones just before he was to sing them (someone please correct me if this is wrong)...Ray was blind, so obviously he didn't have the benefit of reading a chart on the session; some of the tunes were probably decided upon right then & there without the benefit of a thorough rehearsal.

Two Distinct Sides of Ray Charles.......2004-11-05

Given the CD format's ability to contain a generous 80 minutes of material nowadays, Rhino took full advantage of it. The result is a two-for-the price-of-one display of just 2 sides of many The Genius displayed.

The first half, "Ingredients In A Recipe For Soul" is prime Grade-A Ray! Some of the highlights:

Busted - Classic tale of woe when the crops dry up, so hard to believe it was originally a simple C&W song if you didn't know it beforehand. Rays powers of reinterpretation were second to none!

Where Can I Go? Abject loneliness never sounded so beautiful and smoldering.

That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls Around Heaven All Day) Ray sure had away of making C7W his own and you can really feel the exaspiration in every note

Stranger in Town - A great track from the movie "The Cincinnatti Kid"

Over the Rainbow - Very dramatic treatment with full orchestra and singers too.

Ray definitely gives it his all here in a wide variety of moods and settings from gritty R&B/Swing to haunting ballads and pain drenched C&W.

The second half of the package "Have A Smile With Me" was intended to show the more playful, swinging and fun side of Ray, and largely succeeds ("Smack Dab In The Middle" for instance) though not entirely, some of the novelty songs don't wear well with repeated listenings but all-told, a good smattering of tracks for a party where there's swing dancing involved.

Good stuff, all considered.

I've looking for this version of Over the Rainbow by Ray Charles, it's just great. I've heard the final part of it in Sleepless in Seattle... (for 3 years I've been told it did not exist)

This CD is Brother Ray at his best. Listen to track 12 "The Brightest Smile in Town" and you'll be a believer too.

I had the pleasure of seeing The Recipe live in 2003 at a tiny bar in West Virginia. I liked them before I saw them live; but afterwards, I absolutely loved them.

"Night of the Porch People" remains my favorite Recipe album! Blue grassy, knee slapping, fun times! If you haven't heard this album yet, get it now!

Night of the Porch People is The Recipe's second album and is a quantum leap forward from their debut release, Love Marble Hoe-Down, in both production and performance. The songs are catchier and there's a confidence present that you don't hear on their debut. The production is clearer as well and is a better representation of their awesome live show. This is very apparent on the first two tracks, the fast paced "Affected Specimen" and the catchy "Playground Bellyflop", both of which practically leap out of the speakers. Joe Prichard and Kristen Wolverton's vocals mesh very well, whether it's on the pop meets hippie vibe of "Bonemeal" and "World Swirl" or a more somber track like "Marigold." Mark Rapson's fiddle playing is a highlight throughout, providing great color to tracks like the moody "A Little Yellow Pepper" and the country-rock of "Whiskey Pickle." Other strong tracks here include "Amoonda", which has a cool shuffle feel, and the mid-tempo "Duke of Stealy." Other tracks like "Wrecking Ball", "Luna Parade", and "Sibling Revelry" are also very good. I would recommend this album, along with their even stronger followup release, Geode, to anyone. However, to get the full Recipe experience, you have to pick up their live album, All You Can Eat, or better yet, go see them live. No touring band puts on a show like the Recipe. See them. It will be one of the best live shows you'll ever witness.

folksters, hipsters and the like............2005-08-08

i love this album...but am deeply in love with love marble hoe-down (their first album ) most.. i don't know about this album, but "love marble hoedown" is cheeper at homegrown music network...not only that but they also game me a free sampler cd...and i got to support someone other than the ferocious amazon monster...don't get me wrong though..much love and respect to crazy monsters.
again great album here...oh, yoo poopy hedz can get the recipe and LOTS of legit legal live shows from archive.org/audio by consent of the artists which include a buttload ... numero uno being the one, the only, the grateful dead.
can't say enough about it ... except that also i received a free sampler disc of bands as well when i ordered from homegrown music network. support the scene ya silly jelly bean.

Night of the Porch Party!.......2004-11-04

This is the only album that I had from The Recipe. It blends in humor, rock/bluegrass music, and many other strange ideas. I wish I still had it, but I lent it to a galpal. Oh well, I'll get again soon. I highly recommend it, for those who love weird things.
