Crucial Conflict deserve dap for fully submerging themselves in their barn-burning, hillbilly mo'fo' personas.... [T]hose overall-rocking dudes from Chi-Town ... spit whiplash-inducing verses with so much twang, you swear they got some wheatstraw hanging out their mouths when they rap.

A Chorus Line may be better known, but Dreamgirls was a towering achievement for director Michael Bennett. Loosely based on the Supremes' story, the 1982 musical told a typical show-biz tale of fame, backbiting, and survival. As is often the case for one-night only events, the cast in this concert version (recorded in New York on September 24, 2001) is led by an eye-popping assortment of Broadway powerhouses: Lillias White (The Life), Audra McDonald (Ragtime, Marie Christine), and Heather Headley (Ragtime). McDonald reveals a previously undisclosed comic streak, while Headley confirms her status as a rising star. Reprising the role of Effie Melody White (created by Jennifer Holliday), White belts the classic "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." But the beauty of Dreamgirls is that it's so packed with catchy, Motown-influenced R&B numbers that each lead can sink her teeth into some prime material and get a turn in the spotlight. This double-CD set really makes you wish you'd been there when the show was recorded: you can hear the crowd going berserk at times, and the temptation is strong to do the same thing in the comfort of your living room. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
Dreamgirls 2001.......2007-06-27
This was the worst reproduction of Dreamgirls that I ever heard. I was so disappointed the CD went into the garbage. This is one CD that I would not sell to the public because I expect so much and get so little.
Not the real "DREAM" experience.......2007-04-04
Forget about the film sountrack. Get this CD set. And it's far better than the original cast recording which goes lacking. More songs and more everything that makes a live performance just what it is. Live (compared to film where anything can be done to enhance a performance!) -- the energy, the excitement and the performances make this a rare treat for anyone wanting to share in the real DREAM experience.
Isn't a full Broadway revival long over due. But wait: I've heard rumors that a rvial may be "in the works. I certainly hope so. Maybe this time it will receive the Tony award it deserved in the first place.
Absolutely brilliant!.......2007-01-28
There is atleast 5 new songs on this album that were not in the movie! These girls kill it I mean they are just amazing singers, and this all live! This is needed for any Dreamgirls fanatic like me! You are gonna love it! Enjoy! love live laugh :)
Amazing!!!!!!.......2006-12-04
As a theatre lover, this recording is amazing. I actually prefer this recording to the OBC. Sheryl Lee Ralph is okay, but can't touch Audra's Deena. The first time I heard Ms. White's "And I Am Telling You..", goosbumps all over my body. The only weak cast member in my opinon is Heather Headly. Vocally, she just isn't there. Too much Aida, not enough Dreamgirls. But all in all, a great live recording of a great show.
One Night Only .......2006-07-19
I was lucky enough to attend this One Night Only concert performance of Dreamgirls and it was a night I will never forget!! The cast was brilliant and the cd is as good if not better than the Broadway cast recording because it is the entire show not just the songs. Bravo to everyone involved !!!

C C, The Best!.......2006-09-23
I always loved Crucial Conflict from High School late 80's early 90's. I live on the South side of Chicago and always admired this group from the West side. If you ever get to see this group in concert, please treat yourself to this experience. I went to the House of Blues here in Chicago and they were performing with TWISTA and I was amazed. I had the most fun enjoying the music and to know that they can still bring it!
Which side are you on?.......2006-07-08
Crucial Conflict is one of the hottest Midwest rap groups period. Their speedy delivery with raw lyrics and BANGIN beats make them the Classic Flick that they are today.
The Intro alone is so hot you already know that you've popped in a cd you'll be bumpin a long time non-stop. "The Bidness", Roll Somethin", "Young Gunz" and the ultra smooth "Let it go" are only a few of the rippin tracks in store for ya.
I think its best for me to clear up the problem of identifying Never's high pitch tones from Wildstyle's. Example track: "2 bogus" featuring three members of 3-6 mafia (DJ Paul, Juicy J and Lord infamous in that order) has a killa beat and Hella Rippin lyrics by everyone on the track! Now Wildstyle is the one that goes first, Never the one that went last. Wildstyle comes a little rougher in his voice, Never smoother.
If there is anything I miss, I'm sure the other true Flick fans reviews got to it, but I got to address that fact that I'm tired of seeing these kats compare Flick to Bone thugs--NO NO IN FACT, I'm tired of these whack azz folk rating this cd ONE star JUST because they like BONE. That's... just... dumb. Just like both of them. Now trust, I `m am very experience in the art's of bone (Just check my art of bone Reviews for further info) but I don't diss Flick just cause I really like Bone. IT'S ALL MIDWEST! Further more, the only thang I can say yall identifying a similarity is the fast lyrics. They have there own style of bangin beats, they don't sing with their lyrics, different voices- their just simply NOT TRYNA BE BONE or WANNA BE BONE! (Please read my bone art of war review for info on so called "bone clones") if you want similarity go look up and get Court dog's "Thug's diary" a raw cd that REALLY DOES have that bone sound. (bloodbath 2001 track is raw)
In fact, if flick fans didn't know and if you Flick haters that hate cuz of bone didn't know, the track "Back against the Wall" a Serious posse cut, Is a diss towards Bone. Like when he said "bone Killa, killa to the bone, I got that home address, yall niggaz better leave alone, this raw dope is life or death."
Anyways, this "Good Side. Bad Side got Fierce lyrics and clean beats the whole way through. Flick fans and Midwest rap fans please PEEP GAME to these chi town or Mid-W artists:
Ms Chambers- don't judge a book by its cover (Flyest female lyricist out the Midwest)
The Mercenaries- Battle cry (classic)
Black Pirate Militia- Us Against Us (Very lyrical underground rap ground, Very tight)
Chilldrin of da ghetto- self title (MUST HAVE FOR FLICK FANS, type it in exactly or it won't pop up in the search. This cd is hard)
Cruical Conflict- The call of the wild (Flick's third cd which combines clicks apart of the conflict fam. Harder to find, try to get it at a low price)
Peace
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.......2006-02-11
Those rodeo boys from Chicago drops an anticipated return from their first album as Good Side, Bad Side is another side of the Flict. Again completely produced by member Wildstyle with the exception of one song this album contains the same multi-laced old Western / Country, hill clicking, gun slinging beats as even found on "Intro." "The Bidness" was a perfect song to lead this album off as Wildstyle boast over muted drum track
saying "...how are you gonna f*ck with these tracks..." Crucial Conflict gets dirty with "Scummy" following the formula from the first LP. "Roll Somethin" is another song worth mentioning with their signature sound and flow apparent here. Bogus, bogus is up-tempo with looping guitar strum on "2 Bogus" featuring Three 6 Mafia. There are also a few commercial /
mainstream tracks that add to the flavor found on this album as well such as the seductive "Come On" and "Ghetto Queen" featuring R. Kelly. "Universal Love" was another song that took the Flict to another level with shot outs to the maker and prayers that led smoothly to "Faceless Ones". "Airplane" featuring Do Or Die is one of the highlights as the seven emcees
/ rappers teamed up to take this one real high. After this song the high ends abruptly and that's the problem with this release. The fierce, rapid fire flow on the slow tempo "I'm Bout To Explode" made this another one of the highlights for this album. This is definitely a good side of Crucial Conflict.

THESE GUYS ARE TIGHT! I BOUGHT THIS CD FOR $2 OUT OF A BARGAIN BIN, AND IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. I LOVE THIS CD BECAUSE I LOVE BONE THUGS. ANYONE WHO SAYS THESE GUYS DONT SOUND LIKE BONE, YOURE KINDA RIGHT, THEY'RE NO WHERE NEAR THE TALENT LEVEL OF BONE. SAME STYLE, QUICK AND FURIOUS, SAME BEATS, THUMPIN AND SEXY, BUT JUST NOT BONE. I LOVE THIS CD, BUT I COULD GIVE IT ONLY ONE STAR OUTTA RESPECT FOR THA BONE.

For his tenth solo album, the No Limit CEO and amateur baller has released a double-CD set whose content will not surprise listeners who are long familiar with his world and concerns ("Why They Wanna Wish Death," "Thug and Get Paper," and so on). The fact that Master P has released a double CD in 2004 is interesting for two reasons: one, the heyday of the double rap CD (1996 to 1998) is long over; secondly, rappers usually produce double CDs when they are rising toward their peak, not, as with Master P, when they've cooled into veterans of the rap game. (The exception to both rules is, of course, Outkast.) As for the music, both CDs offer average material with the exception of the track featuring TV star (and Master P's son) Lil' Romeo, "20 on Cars 26 on Trucks," which is a No Limit masterpiece. --Charles Mudede

master p goes back to the gangsta style.good thing he didn't go commercial.this cd is better than gameface but not as good as ghetto d.he still tries to sound like pac in some of his songs (like two of them).but overall, it's a great cd.
good side= 3 stars bad side= 1 star total=3.5 stars.......2005-06-27
good side disc is fairly decent, but bad side sucks and has 1 good song. good songs on good side are act a fool, who them boyz, why they wanna wish death, you don't know me, and anything goes. them jeans is ok but not very good. the only good song on bad side is that ain't but isn't very good. the old no limit is way better than the new no limit. maybe his new album ghetto bill will be better.i hope so
Transition Is A Motha.......2005-03-17
I can see why P would do a double album, having one side the good and the other the bad. P truly is a homie from the streets who made it, and that's his bad side. Who he used to be in the streets is straight bad and ghetto and everythang. But who he is today as a dad of what 14 or 15yrs now is totally different. You can't really go around drinkin forties and smokin blunts, doin drive-bys and stuff while raising a kid and expect the kid to grow up good. I think P's just trying to make Romeo's life a little easier than his was. So he's making sure Romeo has the chance to do what he wants to (as long as it doesn't put Romeo's life in jeopardy). So those who think he's soldout or gone soft don't trip. It ain't like he's done a song with Timberfake like Dogg did.
old and weak.......2005-03-06
No disrepect 2 p but he suck now he used 2 be str8 gutta and real now he takin his gold out 2 get on da nickoloaden channel.

Album Description
"Moods of St. Mildred" is a CD of original acoustic blues music. It is especially appealing to listeners who enjoy vocal harmony and instrumentation featuring harmonica and slide guitar.
One of the achievements of the CD is the wide variety of musical styles that are seamlessly integrated into the blues genre. Styles such as old-time Appalachian-flavored bluegrass, gospel, jazz, rhythm-and-blues, rock-and-roll, folk, and even the Cajun waltz are clearly represented in the 10 selections. Yet the predominant blues feel and overall unity of sound never varies from beginning to end.
Another strength of the CD is the exceptional quality of the lyrics, which have been described as "two cuts above." The writing features clever turns of phrase ("How can boxcars goes so slow when forever went so fast?"), striking metaphors ("You've been a beauty since the days you were born, but loving you is like a crown of thorns."), and tongue-cheek humor (" She's absolutely perfect...more or less.")
Listeners have also responded favorably to the vocal variety of the CD and the close, sometimes inventive harmony of the tracks. All three members of Billyblues take turns at the lead vocals and sing in three-part harmony with a tight blend developed by years of performing together.
All in all, Billyblues' "Moods of St. Mildred" builds on the foundation of their successful first CD, "Where the River Meets the Mountains," and has proved to be appealing to traditional blues lovers as well as fans of contemporary acoustic music with more wide-ranging tastes.
Customer Reviews:
A Very Good Mood.......2002-12-24
This second helping of BillyBlues music slides down as delicious as their first cd. All too often later albums suffer some loss of quality. You might not be able to put your finger on it exactly, but something's not quite right anymore. Madison Avenue and Wall Street strike again.
Well, all you blues fans out there - LISTEN UP! The BillyBlues torch has not gone out. "Moods" is sheer delight served by a unique band. Mike, Mark, and Colin lament and rollick and hit all the stops in between. These men know and love life and their Maker. They sing out strong with hearts and eyes wide open. You will be pulled right along on a toe tapping, gut wrenching, sublime journey of self discovery. Resistance is futile.
They can carry a tune, too. Sad to say, most alleged singers popular today couldn't warble their way out of the proverbial paper sack, instead screaming or moaning in desperate constipation.
BillyBlues takes a world besotted with sound pollution and turns it right side up at last. Oh, what a relief it is....
Classic album for any music lover's collection.......2002-11-27
Every once and awhile an album comes along that expands on the definition of music. BillyBlues' "Moods of St. Mildred's" portrays the heart of bluegrass, while maintaining subtle blues undertones. This band is something original... don't miss out!!

Great Music.......2002-03-06
I discover something new to enjoy each time I listen to these guys. Crisp harmony, subtle humor, a range of very human feelings, catchy melody, and some really good guitar playing. When I'm humming one of their melodies days after listening to their CD, I know that I've found some really good music. I hope that they continue to make music and I'd like to see them get noticed by more people.
A Treat for the Lyricist and Musician.......2002-01-22
It often seems that hearing a band perform live can cause a mere listener to become a true fan. This is quite the case with BillyBlues. These three performers exude a distinct feeling of love for their music, humor, and friendship while on stage. For those of you who don't have the great fortune to catch them out and around the Lexington, KY area, never fear. You will still be unable to stop your toe from tapping along with this enjoyable album.
With backgrounds in English and communications, BillyBlues has numerous lines of clever lyrics. Their last album made a wonderful allusion to William Faulkner with the song that included the line "there's a pill for every ill except the last one." The follow-up album takes listeners on a jaunt throughout the "worldly" Kentucky, touring many of the "capitals" within the state. "Moods of St. Mildred" includes many thoughtful songs as well, encouraging a reflective state of mind.
The musical melodies are of equal entertainment. The voices of these three blend together beautifully, and their guitars, banjos, and harmonicas are irresistable. Whether they be joined in joyful glee as on the "Pumpkin Pie" track, or in the more calm and reassuring harmonies of "Hold On," the music is quite enjoyable.
Concert goers are surely convinced that BillyBlues has a good time playing their music, and listeners will have just as good of a time hearing them play it.

No Limit is back.......2004-05-25
If anyone was to say this cd is wack needs to be slapped. You can let every song on both cd's ride. Unlike his last few when you had to press the forward button a few times. I was very, very, very, impressed. The best album he has made since the ice cream man. Let 'em go is the track i feel the most. But for yall to diss this you are not a music fan and you know nothing about the originals south. If all you know is lil jon, and ying yang twins, then really don't know anything about the orginal rappers of the south. So yall haters ya get ya music game up, and rap game too. If you want to say a cd is wack try jay-z black album. Now that is REAL TRASH.

I really do not understand why this guy has a career other than smart marketing and stupid customers. I have never been impressed by anyone affiliated with No limit aka No talent records but this one is really special. Entertaining or embarassing for him to make his first two singles both rip offs, Jeans? yeah ginuwine did it better and then act a fool with him hopping like a retard but ludacris killed that track. I shows why americans are consumed by consumerism for you to actually have a market for his crap. If you want hollow rap with no skillz or talent or anything buy this but if you want a real good new album cop Ghostface Killa Pretty toney album
