Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2006-08-30
One of the best soundtracks I've heard in terms of how it matches the atmosphere of the movie itself. And the music is great.
Missing a Song.......2003-09-04
The CD is excellent, and the music is very enjoyable. While it's certainly not the type of music I'd choose to listen to while out driving, it makes for great background music.
My one complaint is that the "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" song is not included. I ordered the CD and couldn't believe it when I found out the song was not on the CD, especially considering the song is one of the major musical themes of the movie.
Had that particular song been included, I'd give the album a 4 to 5 star rating.
There is no conspiracy here, just great music.......2002-10-26
I don't know much about Carter Burwell and his music, but this soundtrack is great. Burwell conducts a 200 plus size orchestra for this film with instruments including violins, violas, cellos, basses, flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, french horns, trumpets, trombones, tubas, guitars, percussion, keyboards, and a harp. The size of the orchestra is evident in all of the tracks, for the sound is large and wall to wall. "Overture" contains the groovy theme of the film, reminding me a little bit of Chris Boardman's Payback. "Conspiracy Theory" is the other track with this groovy theme. In addition, there are several action music cues, present in "NASA Strikes!", "Brain Gravy" (I think this was served in my old high school cafeteria if i'm not mistaken), "Wheelchair Chase", "The Catcher", among others. They contain big, bold brassy sounds and running snare drums and electronic percussion keeping it moving. Not quite a 5 star score, but it comes close and i'm liking Burwell's music more and more and I think you will too.
Decidedly unusual........2001-02-16
The first thing I noticed watching Conspiracy Theory was how well the brassy, playful music fit with the equally unusual opening credits. Carter Burwell clearly eschewed a pompous thriller score for one that reflects the quirky subject matter. The resulting effort is sublimial, working in all the right places, concluding with a truly majestic, soaring finale. Remarkably, this final theme is heard only once before the ending, and only briefly. The restrained use of this trump card makes it all the more hard-hitting.
Truly one of the most innovative and lovely scores in recent memory.
An instant classic, powerful, brilliant.......1999-11-10
Carter Burwell's work on this defines genius, the theme for Mel Gibson is filled with such self-confident swagger, and the action pieces are uniquely exciting.
The real treat, though, is the overwhelmingly beautiful main theme. It only surfaces twice, briefly at the end of the title track, #4, but then it's there at the end, in track #15, "Riding."
If anyone wants to know how you END a movie and a score, listen to this piece, THIS is how you do it. Sheer brilliance, and WHAT use of the full power of an orchestra, it's breathtaking.

Best Southern Lyricst.........2007-04-28
wow is all i can say...from a cat who hails from Atlanta this album is amazing...On the track "Mary Jane", ive never seen a more lyrical track about smokin chron.
Sad this cat gets barely any recognition out of the south.
PRODUCTION WUZ WACK.......2006-09-11
T ROCK IS A VERY TALENTED LYRICIST AND I LUVED HIM ON 420 ROCK SOLID BUT THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WUT HAPPENS TO THE MAJORITY OF ARTIST THAT USE TO BE DOWN WITH THE SIX AND AINT NO MORE. HIS FLOWS GO HARD ON THIS BUT THE PRODUCTION IS GARBAGE TO ME AND THE HOOKS ARE PRETTY BAD TO IM A BIG FAN OF T ROCK BUT THIS CD LACKS GOOD PRODUCTION OTHER THAN THAT THE LYRICS ARE STILL ON POINT AS USUAL.
"THE BEST LYRICIST IN THE GAME".......2005-04-01
T-Rock is undoubtedly the most talented lyricist I've ever heard--other than Tupac himself...I grew up listening to 3-6, and I have gotten tired of replaying all their albums prior to "Unbreakables." Rap 2day is bullsh*t compared to the classic material that was comin out in the mid 90's. 50 is a joke, and so is his butt pal, Game. Unfortunately, it seems that 3-6 is also goin down that route, with their new albums that try 2 sound "crunk." On the contrary, T-Rock's albums have only gotten better as of late, even after his split with Paul & J. His wordplay even surpasses Notorious fatboy--and that's sayin a lot. T-Rock is definately goin somewhere with his music, and "Conspiracy Theory" shows why...
Oy Vey!.......2003-11-24
It's so refreshing to see that Spunk Man P has cleaned up his act and graduated from rehab and is now making amends to all those whom he hurt while he was under the influence. And although I appreciate the effort, I just don't think this album of Yiddish lullabies sung a capella is going to appeal to his particular demographic. If he must do this kind of stuff, he needs to drop the old gangsta moniker and genuinely convert to the Hebrew religion. Maybe then people will take this new turn seriously. As it is, it just seems like some silly stunt and passing fashion. I'll see you at the bris, Spunk Man.
bout to blow up.......2003-07-10
If you ever heard T-Rock on any of the 3-6 Mafia tapes you know what to expect. He has an aggressive delivery and speed. He leaves no dissapointment on this album. He shows his full potential in the way of using metaphors like E-40 and ryhming ability at an Eminem level. If you are a fan of underground rap this is the king of them. The beats are truly amazing on this album. His feature include his click Area-51 consisting of C.I.A., Wylecat, Miss T., II-tone, and Kingpin Skinny Pimp. The tracks to look for are Blood in Blood out, Mary Jane, Look deep in the eyez, and International Terrorist. I truly would give this 10 stars.

4.5 Star Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit mixtape from early 2003........2005-08-09
Originally coming out in April 2003, I don't know why they only have the import on Amazon but it has all the same songs up through track 25 (that's all that's on the original although I have heard about 5 or 6 of the ones past this track). The roster at the time and most of the songs on here consist of: Eminem, Obie Trice, D12, and the original 3 man G-Unit (50, Banks, & Ya Yo) as well as a few guests (some of who 50 got in big beef with starting in late '04). It has 24 songs, a few popped up on later albums, and a few dis tracks to Benzino, Ja Rule, & Murder Inc (and they even make fun of JA a little more by putting 2 snippets of him dissin Eminem & 50 on here). Some of them are freestyle but a good amount are new songs and a few are produced greatly by Green Lantern himself. Of the 24 it has 4 classics, 3 almost classics, a live version of a classic, 1 I skip and 2 ok songs, the rest are good or great songs. A must have album for their fans.
#2 - 7.5 (Eminem)
#3 - 8 (Ja Rule --- a dis to Eminem)
#4 - 9 (Eminem, 50 Cent, Tony Ya Yo, Lloyd Banks --- Ja Rule Dis)
#5 - 9.5 (Ja Rule --- dissin Eminem & 50, & Busta)

#8 - Acapella freestyle from Tony Ya Yo while in jail)
#9 -10 (CLASSIC -- Eminem, Obie Trice, Lloyd Banks, 50 Cent, Tony Ya Yo --- also on Obie's "Cheers")
#10 - 10 (CLASSIC --- Jadakiss, Styles, Sheek, Jae Hood -- also on Sheek's "Walk Witt Me")

The concepts are mind-blowing, and the backing music works well with the ideas. The mixing sometimes leaves a little to be desired, but it's very listenable. Drop a cut or two into your playlists, or set your player on random for the occasional trippy sidetrack.

Listen to good music, listen to this. Also, listen to Jazz. Anyway, this band has great things ahead of them. Although this CD can't replace the thrill of seeing The Carolines live, this disc will no doubt make you a fan of their sound. It has a very ambitous sound of vintage rock/pop. If you enjoyed the beatles in their happy-go-lucky sgt. pepper days, then this disc is for you. Heck, even if you enjoy AFI and morbid death metal, this disc is really for you. But seriously, support this awesome band, take a listen. It wont hurt, I promise.
nice rockn'roll.......2003-06-11
Wow! Where to start? I love the classic rock feel to all of their songs. I can never find anything wrong with them ever since I went and saw them live last summer. I think one thing that makes them very cool, is that they are able to appeal to so many different people. No matter how old or how young you are, or where you're from. It's just nice old-fashioned rock and roll
Jazzy keyboards and guitars bring a smile to my face!.......2003-02-02
I wound up seeing these guys quite by accident this weekend in Eugene Oregon, and wow did they ever rock the house. I've never seen an opening band work up a crowd like these guys. For a minute there I thought they were going to get an encore of their own. At any rate, I purchased this CD in the lobby and it is incredible. I can't wait for their first full-length CD to be released this winter. If you like jazzy, poppy, rockin' music give these guys a try, you wont be disapointed!
This one's a treat.......2002-06-04
The Carolines (formerly known as Trueb) hit the mother lode with this one. Thier Debut Album as the Carolines, "Don't Believe What You Hear," rises far above today's standards of "good music" this talented Oregon band gracefully makes the jump from small-town band to rock and roll stardom. If you haven't had a taste of their music, you must. It'll only take one song to addict you...
