Body of the Life Force [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
After playing henchman on Jeru the Damaja's first two albums, Afu-Ra steps into the solo spotlight with this solid effort. While Jeru himself is missing from the proceedings, for those already familiar with the Afu-Ra, many elements of previous outings remain. His lyrics are stacked with the metaphysical and mathematical content that blesses the singles "Whirlwind Thru Cities" and "Defeat," and as a satellite member of the Gang Starr Foundation, Afu-Ra wisely retains the services of DJ Premier as executive producer. Despite the presence of other beat merchants, the uncompromisingly hard-boiled beats bear Premier's trademark, and he also deserves credit for the shrewd recruiting of collaborators such as the Cocoa Brovaz (on "D & D Soundclash") and M.O.P. (on "Warfare"). Afu-Ra's earnest dispensing of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding at times becomes repetitive in both delivery and content, but the presence of other voices and the above-par production cleverly disguise the monotony. --Del F. Cowie

GOOD SPIRIT,WACK LYRICS.......2007-06-03
I LIKE AFU RA'S SPIRIT, BUT DA KID CAN'T RHYME. HIS FLOW SOUNDS TOO AMETUER
HE HAS NO RHYTHM IN HIS VOICE. C'MON, THIS DUDE SAYS STUFF LIKE " I ASSASSINATE LIKE TOXIC WASTE"--WAAAACK! HIS BEATS ARE KIND OF CORNY TOO.
I DON'T KNOW HOW THESE OTHER REVIEWERS ARE GIVING HIM PRAISE. I UNDER-
STAND HE'S TRYNA REP REAL HIP HOP, BUT IF IT HAS TO BE THIS WACK, PASS ME
A MASTER P ALBUM. IT'S FUNNY, EVEN THOUGH HE'S UNDERGROUND, HE'S MORE
POPULAR THAN SUPERIOR LYRICIST SUCH AS MEGALON & PUNKINHEAD.
High Energy .......2007-01-03
I like Afu-Ra ever since I heard him with Jeru. I will say that Whirl WindThru Cities is my favorite cut on the album it makes your head bounce that's for sure. Overall this is a pretty good album not a classic but a solid effort.
Afu-Ra - Body Of The Life Force.......2006-03-10
A very ill album. Afu-Ra gots the illest emcee voice. Makes me want to start flowin with him. Really ill production on the album also, real hiphop beats. Afu-Ra gots style in rappin and he shows it here. This album gots a pretty high replay value to it. Hes the type of emcee that could flow to any beat. But the major ups in this album is the beats. Only if all rap had these types. But people are feeling more bubblegum beats these days. If you want to check out some real hiphop that you wont be dissapointed with after buying, then I highly recommend that you cop this album! You wont be mad you got it, cause its that good! (...)
Mad skillz .......2005-01-20
This album is series his lyrics are crazy, he's underground and keeps it that way cause he's real. whirlwind through cities if you don't no now ya know go out and buy it...
If only Life Force Radio was as good as this.........2004-11-01
This album is completely off the hook, but than all the junk we hear today on the radio. Afu's talent here is incredible. It's just a pity his 2nd album "Life Force Radio" wasn't anywhere near as good as this. Anyway, the best song here is Equality, which most have probably already heard. Other notable tracks are All That, Soul Assassination, Bring It Right, Caliente, Defeat, Self Mastery, Warfare, and the GZA collab, Bigacts Littleacts. I recommend this to all hip-hop heads, because he is so original and has a lot of talent, which is displayed here.

Underground At Its Best..........2001-03-20
Afu-Ra got his breakthrough w/ his collabo on the beatjunkies volume 3 (wirlwind thru citys). The wait was long, but couldnt be more worth it. tracks like "D&D Soundclash" -a rasta loop and ill flows-, "caliente" -spanish hook-, "defeat" -loop horns-, "soul assassination" with DJ Muggs from cypress... the list goes on, if you like the raw underground sound, cop this
good to know who he knows.........2001-02-01
this man as connection..Guru..Preemo.Gza..Rza...M.O.P. so on and so forth... I was very impressed way back in '99 when i first heard the "whirlwind thru cities" Joint..and I was hoping that this ablum would have came out then..But i had to wait and my enthusiam went down cause of the wait..But i was pleasantly suprised by what i heard ..the produciton is Nice cause as stated Earlier there are alot of Beat masters on this album and the flows are OK ..I do enjoy this album alot.and I reccomend it to those who enjoy real hip hop...no bling bling here..
