Terrorist Threats [Enhanced] [Explicit Lyrics]

Throwing up the "W" just isn't as ghetto glamorous as it once was as the triple vets of the Westside Connection have ended up third fiddle behind a resurgent New York and upstart Southern scene. Though the events of 9/11 and the national paranoia that followed are part of the inspirational fuel behind this album--their first since 1996's Bow Down--there's something quaintly anachronistic about the Connection's gangsta posturing, especially with Ice Cube, whose attempts at righteous fury on "Call 911" seem a pale shadow of the days of The Predator. As such, Terrorist Threats at times feels less than "condition red," but WC, Mack 10, and Cube still show some bite with their bark: "So Many Rappers in Love" is a hilarious slap at the Ja Rule school of R&B/hip-hop crossover, while the single "Gangsta Nation" bumps with irrepressible energy. It's nice to know that even if the sun might be setting in the West, the Connection refuse to go quietly into the night. --Oliver Wang

So Many Rappers In Love .......2007-02-19
That song "So Many Rappers In Love" was the reason I bought this CD. In that song they're talking about the sickening love songs you pretty much ONLY hear on the radio now adays.
Other good songs are Call 911, Izm, and Gangsta Nation.
Good not great.......2006-10-03
Standout tracks:CALL 9-1-1(deep), POTENTIAL VICTIMS, PIMP THE SYSTEM(anther deep record), SO MANY RAPPERS IN LOVE(funny hip poppers diss), YOU GOTTA HAVE HEART(deep plus the ending made it worthwhile), TERRORIST THREATS and SUPERSTAR(Deep and funny). Filler: Izm(stupid song with a stupid hook), Get Ignit(WTF?), Lights Out(deadly dull filler), Bangin at the party(screams filler), Dont get outta pocket and Gangsta Nation(lame single that killed their buzz). Bottom line: Its not garbage but its not better than the first WSC album. The only thing this album has over the first WSC album is that it has songs with gems in them(Call 9-1-1, Pimp The System, Superstar and You gotta have heart) and thats way more than the first album. But for every serious song they make they have songs like Get Ignit. Izm, Gangsta Nation and Bangin at the party that bring the album down a few stars. Its a great companion piece to Bow Down but with a litle more songs like Call 9-1-1 and Superstar and a lot less songs like Izm and Bangin at the party this album could have been way better than Bow Down.
This is weak boring unlistenable crap.......2006-01-28
I have been listening to WSCG since I was too young to even be listening to them. I can go back and listen to the first album and realize that it wasn't just me being a pre-teen liking anything I shouldn't listen to; it really was a hard album with serious bangers. I was amazingly pumped for this new album, especially after hearing Gangsta Nation, sick sick sick. That track is the only reason I give this album 2 stars. I honestly listened to the album maybe one more time since I bought it. Unlistenable for the most part. The choruses are embarassing on almost all the tracks, period. What happened?
How did this get any low reviews?.......2005-11-14
How the hell this CD got any bad reviews is beyond me... I swear, people need to scrape the crap out of their ears.. this CD is one of the most bangin released in the past 2-3 years, and I might even be so ballsy as to say this one is BETTER than Bow Down. All these haters never cease to amaze me with their horrible reviews.. giving 1 star to incredible CD's.. get this one yourself and then make up your mind, cuz the cats who write these reviews don't know what they're talking about half the time. This is a TIGHT cd.
WESTSIDE!!!.......2005-10-16
Westside Connection. Definitely one of the greatest gangsta rap groups ever are comeback, with this album. 8 years after "Bow Down" hits the charts finally they came with this one. I hope that they release their new album, because they are so talented and amazing. Although sometimes they can't even understand themselves.
As if Ice Cube didn't have enough going on in the first few years of the 21st century with his successful and prolific film career, the rap superstar unveiled TERRORIST THREATS, the second Westside Collection album, in late 2003. Reuniting with fellow West Coast rappers WC and Mack 10, Cube leads the Connection on tunes that pull topics from the headlines, such as the title track and "Call 9-1-1," where lyrics remind listeners that "911 ain't an area code/it's a gangsta mode." Whether riffing on terrorism or espousing the virtues of gin, the Connection crew gets its point across with the subtlety of a sledgehammer--and they wouldn't have it any other way.
This view is driven home on the scathing "So Many Rappers in Love," which takes a brutal swipe at romantic R&B-oriented rappers and mockingly features strings and falsetto vocals. However, the G-funk-approved singing of Nate Dogg turns up on "Gangsta Nation," a tune that simultaneously bounces like it's the early-1990s gangsta-rap heyday, and proves that these West Coast rappers are still major contenders in the hip-hop world.
