Ghetto Postage [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews

Like any good soldier, Master P's got stories to tell. Like a wounded, slightly delusional veteran, P tells tales that are redundant, preposterous, and just no fun to listen to. Ghetto Postage is his seventh solo album. More troublingly, it's the third since his promised retirement to focus on running his various business interests and improving his basketball game. What three years ago were novel sounds (thick, quick, brassy funk with a potent bass edge) and styles (Tupac-influenced wheezing and decidedly lumpy flows)--no longer carry much sonic weight. P seems aware of this, expanding into slightly new territory on the uninspired chick paean "My Babooski," and the way-too-conceited "'B' I Like," on which he boasts of his ability to steal women away from their men. After listening to Ghetto Postage, any self-respecting female wouldn't give P the time of day. He makes everything sound clunky. With his vocals murky like they were recorded over a pay phone, whatever distinct personality he has is skewered. The only moment of interest comes on the Snoop Dogg-featuring "Poppin' Them Collars," which, in true P fashion, bites the latest slang and claims it as his own. For P and No Limit, the freshest move possible is to hop on the next bandwagon, now that their own has long since been junked. --Jon Caramanica

3 out of 5 stars THE LAST DECENT ALBUM FROM MASTER P.......2004-01-15

THIS IS THE LAST DECENT ALBUM THAT MASTER P WILL PROBABLY EVER MAKE. AND ALSO, THIS IS THE LAST ALBUM IN WHICH P WOULD EVER KEEP IT REAL. AFTER THIS, P WOULD TOTALLY BEGIN TO GO COMMERCIAL AND HE WOULD TOTALLY ABANDON HIS STREET WAYS. ANYWAY, MASTER P WAS ABLE TO DELIVER SOME GOOD SONGS ON THIS CD, SUCH AS ''BOUT DAT'', ''POPPIN THEM COLLARS'', ''B***H I LIKE'', AND ''I DON'T GIVE A F**K''. NO LIMIT HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE SNOOP DOGG LEFT THEM BACK IN 2000. EVEN THOUGH THIS ALBUM IS OK, NO LIMIT IS OVER.

1 out of 5 stars This is da wost P cd ever.......2003-12-07

On dis cd P has just fell off. All of these tracks are soft and boring to hear Its like P just sold out and went mainstream. I want to hear more albums like only god can judge me, or more from TRU Hell anything is better than this. If p keeps makeing albums like this and gameface and continues to make lame rhymes with even worse Choruses than he wont have any more album sales from me, He needs to just retire and become a producer or help with his sons music (because god knows lil rome needs it) and stop making lame songs. Please dont buy this album save your money because this crap here aint worth a nickle.

3 out of 5 stars Master P isn't sounding good.......2003-09-27

This CD is ok. But, what ever happened to the Last Don days?? He should continue making music like that. Even though most of the Soldiers are gone, he could still make good quality rap music. No Limit is still the best though!!

4 out of 5 stars LIMITED........2003-08-24

After da last don ( HIS LAST SOLO ALBUM ??) He put out 3 more in the next 3 years - This being on level with the other 2 .... some good songs but nothing special.
IF YOU LIKE NO LIMIT THOUGH GET IT.
