More than just a straight nu-metal collection, Sonic Jihad is a journey, lyrically and musically, through human emotions. The luscious, slo-mo cinematic strains of "Casualty," with its dragging beats and Bond-esque strings, is an homage to longing. The Phil Spector-inspired production of "You and Your Friend" and the ultra hi-tech aching of the Cure's "Love Song" encapsulate love and obsession. And the concoction of drum & bass, cheesy lounge elements, and demonic guitars on "Somebody Hates You" makes a convincing stab at--not surprisingly--hate. And their distressed and blissfully aching cover of the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now" is nothing short of staggering. With femme fatale Tobey Torres vocals in the fore and the entire group creating drama and attitude, Sonic Jihad is the triumph of passion over technology. --Dan Gennoe

It should be in the cd cases of most people............2006-12-27
If only for their cover of "Lovesong". The way she sings it sends shivers throughout my body (not that the original doesn't, I just happen to like this one too). Like most, I love "Breed" and "Vulcan". I do not however perticularly care for their cover of "How Soon Is Now?". And I'm not much for the 1 or 2 other songs that sound uber pop either. These days most will by a cd for 1 song they really like, well I'm here to tell you this cd will have at least a few songs that will make you crave listening to them repeatedly, so it's worth the cash in my book:)
Nobody loves you more than they ought to.......2006-04-23
While not particularly original in a few parts on this CD, Snake River Conspiracy still manage to pull of an entertaining listen. I'd be lying if I told you that this is all Snake River Conspiracy because its so easy to see influences from other bands who are completely sure of their music (NIN and Collide are probably the major influences).
Comparisons aside, Sonic Jihad is an engaging CD from start to finish. Tobey is a great vocalist with a seemingly good voice (rarely does she go all out and sing), and has just enough attitude to keep things fresh. At times the music is nothing short of cartoonish, other times there are real signs of greatness. For me, I like this CD's more industrial moments than the others because on songs like those is when you see real potential in Tobey's voice. Aside from the absolutely wretched Somebody Hates You, this CD feels complete, like nothing was left out.
The covers included seem to get a lot of attention, and rightfully so, they make for some of the more standout songs included. SRC's take on The Cure's Lovesong was a nice freshening up of an already great song, and with the female vocals it almost feels like she gave the song a different perspective. How Soon Is Now? is the other cover and is probably one of my favorite songs featured. Jason did a great job on the music keeping it interesting throughout.
My favorite songs are You And Your Friends, Lovesong, Act Your Age, Oh Well, and How Soon Is Now?. Sonic Jihad did take me a few listens to really start to grasp what was going on, that could just be me though. The lyrics are straight-forward and brutally honest which is missing from music these days, and the music makes for a great backdrop. So basically, fans of NIN and Collide should probably find more than a few things to like about this CD, and hopefully we'll be hearing more from SRC in the future.
Love the whole cd.......2006-02-25
Got into this band by the song Breed, and was amazed that I love the whole album. The lead singer chick is awesome. Love the covers they do. This cd is great for blasting in your car so others next to you hear this incredible band, and her screaming vocals is also a great cd to listen to if you have fight with your boyfriend to get some aggresion out by singing with her. Can't wait till they make another album.
ROCK ON!!.......2005-11-14
Snake river conspiricy are the most original band for years. Transending pop techno and metal they create an amazing atmosphere and do not dissopoint.

Vintage Paris.......2006-10-16
Standout tracks: FIELD N***A BOOGIE, SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER, SPILT MILK, TEAR S**T UP(killer collabo with M1), AINT NO LOVE(Paris and KAM split hippoppers in two), LAY LOW(Paris burns fire on studio gangsters), YOU KNOW MY NAME, EVIL, AWOL, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, HOW WE DO etc. Filler: None. Bottom Line: Paris gives you his best and most consistent album yet. Its unfornate that nobody has heard of this highlight album of 2002. Its message is one that needs to be heard especially now!
Political Rap At Its Finest.......2006-08-11
Paris is probably one of the most underrated rap artists in the game right now. Every aspect of this album is top-of-the-line. The beats are flawless and lyrics are moving and right on target. Even the Intro/Interlude parts are awesome. If you like true hip-hop, and I mean for more than just beats, you MUST pick up a CD or two by Paris. This happens to be my favorite album of his, mainly because its most relevant to me, but I have all his CDs and they are all well worth buying.
Also check out his web site at guerrillafunk . com and you'll see that he's more than just talk.
Knowledge........2006-07-27
This album has obviously been reviewed by people who know nothing about hip hop. Maybe some punk rock converts, or fans of the supposed "underground." This is the sort of album that makes casual rap fans think the underground is boring. Paris flow is average at best, his voice is uninspiring, although he doesn't sound like a nerd, and his production is far below average. Honestly, i was expecting more. Of course people who don't know hip hop can overlook the "hip hop" and "music" elements of this album, and just listen to the lyrics because, by golly, they're political! It seems that for people without friends songs about politics is the equivalent of "shake that booty" for the partyers. Now i have nothing against political rap. However i refuse to give low quality rappers who make low quality music such as paris and immortal technique praise just because they have political lyrics. If you're looking for political rap you would do well to check for a rapper with actual mic skills such as wise intelligent, or mr. lif.
Good for whitey too!.......2006-05-27
I sit around my kitchen listening to this album every couple of nights after I watch reruns of Friends. It's very "hip". I'm all about the "message" that Paris throws down to us peeps and homies. He's real fly and I'm down with that. My 4 year old daughter loves the rad beats too!
HOLY ____! RAP WITH A MESSAGE!.......2006-03-02
It's such a rarity with M&M's, 50-Cents, and other comercialized mindless bullcrap out there. This is great music if your progressive and millitant, if not, stick to the mindless media garbage and crap.
This CD as litteraly as it's title states, a struggle against croperate crap.

Product Description
First full lenght release from Australia's SonicJihad, 4 years in the making, produced by Peter Hardman of Indie band 'The Effigy' and with collaborations from Aussie Rock legend Ross Wilson from 70's Oz Rock icons Daddy Cool and from members of Resurrection Eve. A mix of fat riffs, catchy grooves and cool vocals, the band's sound has been compared to fellow aussie rockers Jet and to The Killers. 70's rock with an 80's pop sensibility rapped up into a sound for the new century...
