There's no shortage of anger on Exit Wounds. Even when the backdrop suggests a lazy dance-out, the war of the words comes screeching forth. Outsiderz 4 Life lay down a placid rhythm track and then expletives fly. Lady Luck featuring Redman quote the Beastie Boys' "Hey Ladies" and turn it on its head with a 150-mile-per-hour rap. The album's real star, however, is obviously Yonkers-bred DMX, who leads off the album with an attack on Bill Withers's "Ain't No Sunshine" with expected ferocity and is featured with Big Stan on the Casio-keyboard-stuttering drive of "Walk with Me." Previous DMX collaborators the Lox shade things ominously for the noir-ish "Bust Your Gun." Queensbridge housing project's finest Nas keeps it raw with the appropriately titled "Gangsta Tears." Only Playa, hidden deep in the middle--sandwiched between Mack 10 and the truly beat-spastic Drag On--offer a conciliatory track with the romantically tinged "Incense Burning." a good soundtrack.......2004-10-28

This soundtrack is a good one. It features a few R&B songs that aren't great but it has some good rap songs from some big artists and some that aren't well known as well. It features a wide range of guests but is definitely worth getting.

In the realm of Soundtracks "Exit Wounds" is nice. Appearances come form DMX, Nas,Ideal, Playa, The Lox, Dragon, Mack 10, WC, Caviar,Redman, Lady Luck, Memphis Bleek, Trick Daddy, Trina, Ja Rule, Blackchild, Timbaland,Big Stan,Aja,Sincere, Outsidaz, Iceberg, and Three 6 Mafia. Executive Produced by B & J Hankerson, with track production coming from: JV, Teflon, Irv Gotti, DJ Paul, Juicy J, Caviar, Beat Ballers, Mr. Fingerz and Overdose.Have to admit the first track off "Exit Wounds" is what sold the album for me, DMX's lead single "Aint No Sunshine" one of my alltime favourite X tracks love it. Nas drops "Gangsta Tears" and this is a another ill track. X drops in to lay some words of wisdom on Big Stan's "Walk with Me", and up and coming rapper Iceberg (signed to Xs bloodline records)closes off album with "Dog 4 Life" another nice banger. Ideal and Playa drop "It's On Me" and "Incense Burning" decent R&B tracks. Whats cool about this album is it has alot of different appearances from rappers from East Coast, West Coast, Dirty South, combined with urban soul music. Still there are a quite a large amount of skippable tracks, the good tracks made it worth enough for me to get though.

keep it real..........2001-09-06

This is a dope soundtrack mixed with all types of music to hit the mass. Being a producer on the soundtrack might make me a little biased, but it's a tight album. I like the whole album, but the ones that stand out in my mind are Nas, Trick Daddy, Timbaland, and Mack 10...I'm a soulful person so I like tracks that take you there. The hip hop is there...but the ghetto trax are the one's...so if u like it hot, you gotta get this 1.

Wasn't bad.......2001-09-02

I recently bought this cd, it was pretty good, some songs were crap some were good, like DMX's "Ain't no Sunshine", which is one of my favourites on this soundtrack. Mostly it has a bunch of great rappers,rapping guys and swearing. I thought it was good but not the best, but if your into the whole rap thing like me which i like as well go for it.

I was surprised that this soundtrack was as good as it was. I had to get the cd just because i am a huge DMX fan. Im glad i got this cd because i like almost all of the songs on here. The best songs on the cd are followed. 1-Aint no Sunshine-DMX(had to put this song on cause it has X), 2-State to State-Ja Rule( i liked this song because it had a good beat and Rule was in it), 5-Party-Timberland(i was really surprised with this song, because i havent liked anything Timberland has done but this song was tight.), 8-Walk With Me-Big Stan(another Dark Man X song), 11-Steady Grinding-Mack 10 & Cashmoney (great song, great beat, great lyrics, and great rappers), 13-Off Da Chain-Drag On(I think this is my favorite track on the cd, Drag On is so much better then people think.) All of the other tracks are good too, but i dont really like R&B as much as rap but over all this cd was good.

Thee Exit Wounds from London, UK were founded by two members (Stand-Bass and Gitarre) of the Psychobilly legend Demented Are Go. At the Drums is the Co-Founder of Demented Are Go. And at the microphone we have the unbelievable American Singer Johnny X; his organ reminds you a lot of Jello Biafra. The band mixes Psychobilly, Punk, RocknRoll and Metal into a one-of-a-kind In-your-face mix. After appearances on some of the biggest Psychobilly Festivals (like Caella, Satanic Stomp etc.), they have recorded their debut album for Wolverine Records and it kicks ass like Hell. If the Dead Kennedys would play Psychobilly they would sound like Thee Exit Wounds is what a lot of people say and this is definitely true. Even if it just one face of the band! The lyrics are playing with the typical genre-storys and so is the great Comic Artwork of the Cover. It is dirty Rock n Roll, Baby and we wont play it nice!!! Who likes to listen to f***ing love letters here?? In times likes this where Punks and Psychobilly goes hand in hand, Thee Exit Wounds are the perfect soundtrack for this generation. More Palatable but still Effective.......2007-03-07

One version of this soundtrack contained explicit lyrics. This version has been edited and sanitized but it still has the distinctive sound of the artists that were strutting their stuff over five years ago. The rhythms beat and hard cutting vocals are still clearly evident. This is a good example of how music can be re-mixed for maximum effect.

I love the movie and like the rap songs on this album. R&B songs are not so good. I was hoping to hear "Good Girl Bad Guys" from DMX on this album, but it was not there.

The Exit Wound CD is one of the best cds of the year featuring todays most popular artists in DMX, Nas, Trick Daddy and Trina, Redman, Cash Money Millionaires and lots more! Definitely a good one with so many good songs on this album. Edited version great for kids too. If you saw the movie with DMX and Steven Segal or if you just like the music, this cd is definitely worth it!

This CD is awesome, it has all the good rap and R&B artist known in our present, including DMX. It couldn't get any better. A must buy, if you ask me.

His impeccable taste in pop thievery hardly overshadows Todd Fletcher's broad spectrum of musical talent. Effortlessly eschewing the fin de siècle Idiot Chic Zeitgeist, Fletcher's beautifully crafted 1999 debut, "a little more Haven Hamilton, please," fairly overflows with boyish charm, small town gossip, pop star infatuations, and girl-next-door crushes, precisely situating this Champaign IL native equidistant between Upper Darby PA and Hawthorne CA-despite the Nashville TN-pointing title of the album-and showcases his penchant for Runt-era piano-based verses that burst forth into breathtaking Smile-inducing choruses. Adding a healthy dose of Mavericks-period Stamey and Holsapple's acoustic intensity, and sprightly Bacharach-styled arrangements, songs like "How Much I Really Loved You," "Highway Noise," and the gorgeously melodic "Let's Shack Up Together," inhabit a sublimely rarefied pop state that has been all but wiped off the face of the US map.

These three songs are only the purest pop standouts on an album by a supremely talented auteur who obviously belabors the musicality of every note before he commits it to the mix. While hardly spare-mostly bass, drums-"lite" and keyboards, including vibes-the refined and sophisticated arrangements serve only to enhance Fletcher's natural way with melodies and chord progressions, without ever calling attention to themselves. The slower, vaguely jazz-inflected "I Shouldn't Be Surprised," with its brushed drums and lounge bar guitar lines, reflects Fletcher's avowed love for Blossom Dearie-like directness, while never losing sight of its pop destination; "Straight To My Head," and the atmospheric album-closer "Idly By" have the most overt Chris Stamey influences ("Let's Shack Up Together" lovingly acknowledges the debt, borrowing the keyboard break from "She's Not Worried"), weaving sinuous melodies and dizzying emotional intensity together, with only Fletcher's lighter touch at the mic keeping the listener from wondering why Mavericks wasn't a trio's outing.

Tethering himself to a small label, Fletcher's spotlight-shy persona is reflected in the ugly-sounding band name he has chosen, and his disinclination for touring, thus making his radio-ready brilliance available only to those with an enthusiastic love for outstandingly catchy, heart-tugging, classic American pop music. And that's very few people indeed.

Brilliant Power-Pop debut..........2001-07-27

June and the Exit Wounds is not a group as the name seems to imply; in actuality it is a one-man-band, representing the efforts of pop wunderkind Todd Fletcher.

On this stunning debut, Fletcher has created an album that recalls the melodic pop of '70s rock icons such as Brian Wilson and Todd Rundgren. The great irony here is that neither Rundgren nor Wilson has made a record this good in decades... and this debut is even more impressive when one considers that this kid plays every instrument you hear on the CD.

"Highway Noise" is perhaps one of the best (and most representive) tracks here; a tasty piece of "ear-candy" that brings to mind the soaring harmonies of the Beach Boys. "Cathy Dennis" is a humorous (but melodic) ode to the former pop star of the same name. The record's mood gets a little more melancholy at times, like on the somber "Idley By."

Those seeking hard-rocking type music (like Korn) or pre-fabricated top 40 dance music (N-Sync, Backstreet Boys) probably won't like this.

But anyone who enjoys well-crafted, shamelessly effervescent power-pop will love this record... it will surely put a smile on your face; you might even be surprised to find yourself singing along with the CD !

Melodious and riddled with angst.......2000-12-04

June and the Exit Wounds are a band to watch. If you enjoy pleasant melodies with lyrics of love, lost love, unrequited love, sensual love...you get the picture? Actually it's a little deeper than that. It's brilliant at times. The vocal arrangements are harmonious. Often the songs are reminiscent of the Beach Boys during their creative period (Pet Sounds/Smile). This is particularly true with "Highway Noise" and "How Much I Really Loved You." Occassionally they harmonize like Crosby, Stills, and Nash. The main flaw with it is that it is sometiems redundant. "Let's Shack Up Together," although a fine song, uses the exact same keyboard beat arangement as "Highway Noise." I like how it fades into the sunset with the closer "Idly By," a moody piece arranged around two guitar chords. But I really think this band has a great future. I look forward to hearing more from them.

Please Don't Hide Your Love Away.......2000-03-21

A bouncy homage to the finest late 60's/early 70's moments of *the* Todd and the Beach Boys too, this effort plays like a lazy summer evening of likable AM radio favorites. With so many artists namechecking the above these days, it hasn't been easy to find one that remembers how to infuse basically inconsequential lyrics with identifiable meaning. I mean, a song with a title like "Let's Shack Up Together" is delivered with all the seriousness you'd expect, yet it never sinks to inconsequential patter.

Very Derivative of Todd Rundgren.......2000-02-11

Sounds like these folks took the "soft" side of Todd Rundgren from Something Anything and made a whole album of derivative examples of that sound. That's certainly a sonic accomplishment, though if I want to hear so much soft Todd I'd just put on Something Anything and skip the harder rocking tracks.

shimmering, brilliant pop.......2000-06-29

this cd is flawless every track is perfectly written and executed the two bonus tracks are tracks which were previously available with the vinyll copy of the l.p. which is now out of print and are as good as any other track on the the U.S. version of the album. the german version also comes with an extra track so you should pick up a copy of that as well. if you enjoy great pop like the beach boys, style council, everything but the girl then you should deffinately check out this band.
