World Ultimate
Editorial Reviews

Everyone knows about L.A. rap's G-Funk, but there's another, less celebrated side to Angeleno rap that's been harboring some of the country's most talented rappers. Rhymers like Ahmad, the Pharcyde, and the now defunct Freestyle Fellowship--dissenting voices to G-Funk's gangsterized clique--have looked back to the east and taken New York's original old school dynamics and freestyle lyrics to new levels of technical proficiency. From this retrominded school of West Coast doggy dog refuseniks comes the debut World Ultimate from the duo the Nonce.
More than any of their South Central cohorts, however, the Nonce get permanently stuck in a New York state of mind. Juggling old school styles with new school production, the pair come closest to A Tribe Called Quest's jazzy hop. And on "World Ultimate," the tight beats are standard Pete Rock while the mic passing harks all the way back to the Treacherous Three. The single "Mix Tapes" is one of the few spots, though, where the Nonce's retro action is inspired rather than unoriginal. A tasty shot of authentic, first-generation rap--with handclaps, scratches, regular cadences, and references to hip-hop culture--the song no doubt pushed the nostalgia buttons of American Records head Rick Rubin, who once produced records like "Mixed Tapes" for Def Jam before he packed up and headed to Burbank. --Roni Sarig

Thank Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural and his group Buckwheat Zydeco for the many contemporary zydeco releases now available. It was Buckwheat's major-label breakthrough record, On a Night Like This, that brought this rural Louisiana dance music into the mainstream, at least for a time, and his zesty repertoire that won new legions of fans. His accordion prowess also liberated the instrument from its polka-band image. This excellent collection traces Buckwheat's trajectory from 1979 to 1988, peaking with his rollicking accordion-powered party poppers "Ma 'Tit Fille" and "Zydeco Honky Tonk." His roots are covered, too, with zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier's "Hot Tamale Baby" and rural-themed numbers like "I Bought a New Raccoon." There's also his collaboration with Eric Clapton--E.C. reprising the ripping solo of his "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad." But with Buckwheat, love's rarely sad. His deliciously uptempo, two-stepping blend of swamp-funk, rock, and R&B is a tonic for misery of any kind. --Ted Drozdowski

Great Zydeco.......2007-05-07
You can always find 1 or 2 songs that you wanted to have on any "collection" Cd. This one is also in that class due to the amount songs in his career. However with the selection you get there is so much to enjoy. I can feel Burbon Street from my car here in Jersey.
This Is It.......2003-07-21
While I'm more of a traditionalist-a la BeauSoleil-I can't get enough of the Zydeco fusion sound of Buckwheat. This man and his band just keep bringing it on and bringing people to their feet.
I've seen Buckwheat live twice-once in New Orleans and once in Lafayette-and the atmosphere is classic Cajun with a great mix of Zydeco.
Buckwheat is the undisputed King of Zydeco hands down and I know you'll enjoy this compilation if you have any love of Louisiana music.
Buckwheat Zydeco.......2003-03-18
Blues and zydeco hybred if you like both you can't loose with old Buckwheat! He really has his own sound, if you heard him before you already know that. This is a best of and you will have to decide if this blend is for you. Every album is fairly consistant, you might tire of this but you don't have to worry about big let downs when some wild notion results in something you would never buy!

Just as some books need to be edited for length, so do some albums inspired by works of literature. At least that's the case with The Ultimate Adventure, Chick Corea's second straight album project derived from a novel by his late Scientology mentor L. Ron Hubbard. Dubbed a tone poem by Corea, the nearly 75-minute work has some of his airiest, most cooly fluent music in some time. With its distinctive electric piano punctuation and contributions by flutist Hubert Laws and RTF percussionist Airto Moreira, the lyrical passages have echoes of his much-loved band of the seventies, Return to Forever. And the Spanish tinge for which he is known gravitates winningly south to Arabic North Africa. Ultimately, though, not all of the album's chapters are equally lively: the "Adventure" goes on a bit much for those who aren't using it as a soundtrack to the plot about a boy on a self-actualization quest, and even for some who are. But Corea has never negotiated the acoustic-electric (or, in his parlance, akoustic/elektric) divide as well as he does here and his ability to command a large cast including saxophonist Tim Garland and guitarist Frank Gambale is impressive. --Lloyd Sachs
From the Artist
Inspiration
After the fulfilling experience of writing and recording my last CD, To the Stars, inspired by a classic science fiction novel from my favorite author, L. Ron Hubbard, I began looking for another one of his stories--one that I could portray using my love for Spanish and African music and the talents of the musicians in my new band, Touchstone. Browsing through my collection, I was drawn to the title The Ultimate Adventure. Remembering that this unique fantasy story had a backdrop of scenes and characters from the ancient tales, The Arabian Nights, it immediately had me conjuring emotions, sounds, rhythms and music. Technically, I decided that my palette would be lots of rhythm, flute and, of course, keyboards. I also took this project as an opportunity to make music with some of my old friends who were so important to my music-making in the '60s and '70s--namely, Steve Gadd, Airto Moreira and Hubert Laws. And together with my more recent musical partnerships with Vinnie Colaiuta, Hossam Ramzy, Frank Gambale and Tim Garland, and finally the members of my current band, Tom Brechtlein, Jorge Pardo, Rubem Dantas and Carles Benavent--I was definitely inspired by these great artists in the creation of this music.
Tone Poem
As defined in my computer's dictionary: a "tone poem" is "an extended piece of music that is based on a literary, artistic, or ideological theme, for example, a folk tale or landscape." This has become my favorite form of musical expression.
As were The Leprechaun, The Mad Hatter, My Spanish Heart, Musicmagic, Secret Agent, The Romantic Warrior, Time Warp, To the Stars, and many other albums I've made, The Ultimate Adventure is a tone poem based on the characters, places and events in the story.

Ultimate Adventure.......2007-03-14
I guess you either love or hate this recording. I've been listening to lot's of "fusion" since I was about 20. My entry into this marvelous world was through RTF's "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy". A kid from West Virginia suddenly realized the world was a lot more interesting than he had believed. I left good ole' WV a few years later and one of the reasons was Jazz. Just one, but an important one. Without boring anyone let me just say it helped reaffirm my courage. Now as far as the "Ultimate Adventure" is concerned. It's a frikin' awesome recording! It is the first Chick Corea music that I have really, really liked in about 20 years. This one is absolutely worth buying. Those that say they liked other Corea stuff but not this CD are either not real fans or haven't listened. If you like Chick buy this CD. Someone from WV who openly admits liking Jazz would not lie.
WONDERFUL.......2007-02-04
This is the Chick Corea we long-time fans know and love. But this time it's more about his brilliant compositions and expert performance with a great group than the freewheeling improv we have heard at times. It is richly textured jazz with liberal sprinklings of world music and some classical influences. I'm not familiar with the story this music is based on, but listening to it is an adventure I'm happy to experience in my own imagination.
Lame . . . what you wouldn't expect from Mr. Corea.......2006-12-17
My sympathies to Chick and his family. Evidently Chick was involved in some sort of accident that left him musically incapacitated. As the owner of at least 13 Chick Corea CDs, this one is at the bottom of the list (actually, on the trade off list). Boring & musically uneventful. After reading the reviews I thought "I must get this CD ("Inside Out" was the last one I bought). I was hesitant and I should've gone with my instincts (it stinks). Forget that the music is uninspiring and the melodies forgetful, there's not even enough technical acrobatics to amaze if even for a moment. I suggest giving this one a miss until Chick recovers.
Like a beautiful cake that has no flavor---one taste is enough.......2006-12-07
I like my music with more substance than detail. On "The Ultimate Adventure," Mr. Corea lavishes the music with layers of detail delivered by a galaxy of talented musicians. The songs are glittering, polished, fluid, and slick.
But despite the glitzy trappings, the final product lacks substance and is neither engaging nor inspiring. (Haven't we all heard this conflation before and put to better use than spinning aural yarns tied to a pseudo-fantasy novel?) Put another way, this recording is like a beautiful cake that has no flavor---one taste is enough.
Excellent . . . what you expect from Mr. Corea.......2006-09-01
If your reading this it's a must buy.... only interested in fusion avant jazz (hardly any radio play . . lol . . ) type of improvisational (but perfectly executed) musician-ship.
This one is not a miss ! Get it!

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (1948-1997) was adored in his native Pakistan as a qawwal (Sufi mystic and singer) long before his unbelievably beautiful tenor voice and soaring flights of improvisation brought him international fame. The short, stout man with the beatific smile was most often heard with his "Party," a troupe of singers and instrumentalists who mirrored his every impulse. Although Ustad (Master) Khan ultimately collaborated with important western producers and rock stars and appeared on film soundtracks, for him, everything led back to the source of all things. He is heard here accompanied primarily by harmonium, tabla drums and clapping back-up singers and his trademark spiraling devotional surges seem to arc clear to the cosmos. These seven rare archival tracks are an ideal introduction to Ustad Khan's early work and constitute a worthy addition to the legacy of a world-class artist who unfailingly described himself as "Allah's humble servant." --Christina Roden

Great Music.........2006-01-08
I picked this volume in omaha not knowing what i am getting into. it is simply great and has a sould srring voice. if u love his voice , u should listen to this volume, even if you are not from the region. You are taken away to a hevenly place.
Soul Stirring.......2005-09-21
I recently purchased this volume of original works of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and my expectations were exceeded. I have always enjoyed Nusrat's soulful voice, it stirs the divinity within. I do not understand Urdhu, however his music seems to transcend the boundaries of mere language. He is surely missed and I am looking forward to purchasing the second volume to this collection of original work!
A must for Sufi music lovers: Voice from heaven.......2005-03-11
Khan was the most popular singers in the Indian subcontinent. He predominantly sang qawwali, the music of devotional Sufism in a unique style that appealed to followers of sufism and music lovers all over the world. Not many people know that he had announced plans to record an experimental album with Luciano Pavarotti. Besides, he was also invited to perform with Madonna, but health problems waylaid all plans.
This collection of recordings from 1978-1982 is one of his best work. I have always enjoyed his original recordings more than his remixed music and therefore to me its an ultimate pleasure to have this set in my collection. This is the original music Nusrat always enojoyed singing more than any of his remixed or westernized versions. It is the music coming from the soul of the person during the time he was still unknown to the most of the world.
It is a relentless endless joy peaking into tears, resting into calmness; a simmering beauty. If you let yourself listen with the whole of yourself, you will have the pure feeling of flight while firmly rooted to the ground. You dont need to understand Urdu and can still hook into the story that he weaves with this wordless voice. This is the sensational character of Qawwali, the music of Sufis and voice from heaven.

In 1950, at the dawn of an era of musical exotica (in which composers such as Esquivel, Martin Denny, and Les Baxter would test the limits of hi-fi strangeness), Yma Sumac entered the scene. She was a diva from the Andes with a four-vocal octave range, an unrelenting trill, and great looks, and she became an overnight sensation. Within years of her debut LP, Voice of the Xtabay, Sumac recorded more concept albums, starred in a Broadway musical (Flahooley), and appeared onscreen with Charlton Heston in 1954's Secret of the Incas. Truth be told, exotica music's popularity was short-lived (only to resurface again with the '90s lounge culture), and many would claim Yma Sumac was merely American housewife Amy Camus spelling her name backwards. No matter. This is still great, hilarious music unlike any other. With composer-husband Moises Vivanco, Sumac created a hybrid jazz, mambo, and world music that was the perfect showpiece for her vocal pyrotechnics. She scats, she trills, she bellows, but--mostly--she entertains. This disc collects Sumac's very best works, three unreleased tracks (worth hearing for the opening to "Negrito Filomino"), and extensive liner notes. --Jason Verlinde
Customer Reviews:
Disappointing.......2007-06-13
Not quite as good as I had hoped. The songs Bo Mambo, Babalu, and Xtabay (Lure Of The Unknown Love) are catchy and bear repeated listenings, but most of the rest of it suffers from overly dramatic and dated arrangements that, frankly, make me cringe when I listen to them.
You gotta love her voice, though. Geez. Tweets like a bird and growls like a panther.
Peruvian Nightinggale.......2007-01-10
One of the most unique voices of the century sings an exquisite variety of exotic songs.
Yma Sumac: The Power of 4 Octives.......2004-06-30
Although Ms. Sumac could sing in 4 octives, her material ran from pretty exotic and lush to absolutely dreadful. Who cares?? In some ways she was the "Ed Wood" of the music world, and so over-the-edge, you could hardly believe it. I remember when she was popular and yes, we really did take her totally seriously. But let's face it, we never heard anything like her... and she was incredibly entertaining. This colllection will amaze, delight and completely blow you away. It's like nothing else in popular music you have ever heard.
For an instrumental version of this type of wonderful ultra lounge music, may I suggest the CD called "Sacred Rites" by Elisabeth Waldo. It is one CD made from her best 2 vinyl albums of the late 1950s. Fantastic!
Sheer power and beauty in an amazing vocal range.......2004-04-20
I love this recording! Wow!!!! I have been singing for over thirty years and this is the first woman I have EVER heard who can sing both higher AND lower than me! "Chunco" is unbelievable! Her singing, coupled with the brilliant music of Vivanco, makes her recordings an essential part of any serious musician's collection. Folks, don't wait, don't think, just buy this woman's music! I will say that I enjoy her voice more on the earlier music, as they seem to be more fitted to her big, vibrant, exotic, Incan priestess vocal pyrotechnics. I find myself just listening over and over - she is truly amazing, and is in a class head and shoulders above all other coloraturas, because of the sheer power she has in the entirety of her range.
Which singer has the greatest range?.......2002-12-25
Having been aware of Ms Sumac since the 1950s, I am still amazed at her voice range. Has there been anyone else with a greater range? I have heard that Julie Andrews also has a 4 octave range.

A Film Maker Could Always Rely on Mancini to Deliver a Composition that Hit the Mark for a Film and Conveyed Exactly What was Required and More. He also Filled the Role of an American Mantovani, Recording 'muzak' Versions of Popular Hits. He was Handsome, Personable, but Most of All, Well Respected for his Craft.
Customer Reviews:
not enough Galway.......2003-10-02
There are only four songs with James Galway. The way this recording is presented is misleading and buyers should be aware that this is NOT a joint effort between these two great artists.. I was totally disappointed. I think Henry Mancini is wonderful but was expecting to hear a collaboration. So if you're looking for flute music this isn't it. However it's a great collecton of Henry Mancini's work.
Too Good to Last.......2000-03-03
I heard this on PBS. Galway and Mancini may be two of the most talented musicians of our century. Galway for his complete mastery of the flute and Mancini for his ability to arrange , produce and in this instance direct the orchestra while Galway performs. They do several duets of a comical nature as well. This is important because it is one of Mancini's last efforts prior to his unfortunate passing.

Pretty disappointing.......2006-03-06
I've been delving deep into roots reggae for about 8 years, but finally got around to checking out Third World just now. As my introduction to them, this compilation is not very good. Or maybe I just don't like the group's sound as much as all the other roots I've fallen in love with. Third World seems to lack a distinctive vocal sound. I found their harmonizing to be boring. The song that they're perhaps most known for, "96 Degrees in the Shade" is pretty mediocre in my opinion. Their version of Bunny Wailer's "Dream Land" is pretty weak. Maybe I need to check out their earliest albums, since the few songs on here I did think were decent were from their early days.
A Good Primer! Emphasizes "singles".......2005-03-07
This is a good primer on Third World, a good price for a sampling of all of or nearly all of the distinct periods of the band, 20 songs is not enough for a representative sample of the band but it's a start. To me, the 2 early '80s albums, "You've got the power" and "Rock the World" read like greatest hits albums, however they are only represented on this compilation with single released versions of "Try Jah Love" written by Stevie Wonder (& M.A. McCully for the record) and "Who gave you (Jah Rastafari)." Yet, the solid positive message for which Third World has become known for permeates each song on this compilation. One would not be honest if one did not acknowledge that they have had downswings and upturns in their career but this is very largely due to their seeking to produce music diverse in nature and trying to keep up with musical trends. That said, it does seem that they started losing some of their direction with the 1985 "Sense of Purpose" album even though 2 songs from this collection come from there and I think "Sense of Purpose" itself is a marvelous song (right! the message).
I have mixed feelings on the band, they have been appraised at times for being a more commericalised reggae; but "inna time like this" or any other, their music can be very inspiring. I don't know the very early works as well such as "Journey to Addis Abba" or the other early albums, "96 Degrees in the Shade" and their premier album with Island Records titled "Third World" that have those primitive types of painting on them. However, I read the reviews here are very positive regarding them and the two albums I know well are some of the best in my humble collection. "Reggae Radio Station" from 1987's "Hold on to Love" should be on this collection as well. It is somewhat in the same vein as "Reggae Ambassador"; but to me, sounds more sincere.
There may be some issues dealing with labels here, it seems even the longer compilation "Reggae Ambassadors" lacks tracks from some total releases; such as "Ride on Jah people" from "YGTP" but may emphasize the earlier works more, so it is on my "get" list. We don't always need a Stones type of anthology retreading the same songs over and over.
Incredible Reggea.......2004-08-13
Third world was the group that got me interested in reggea. Songs like "Now That We Found Love" and "Always Around" stuck themselves in my head and would not leave.(I would not want them to.) This is a good album to start with if you are new to their music. Highly recommended.
Generous, but goes south quickly.......2004-04-09
I've recently taken a big dive into the reggae waters... buying various discs trying to discover the incredible talent found down in Jamaica. These Hip-O "Ultimate Collection" discs are packed with songs and seem a good way to sample some respected bands. This is my first Third World CD and I have to say that if I investigate further it will be with their early albums. This collection takes a bigtime dive into cheesy, 80's sounding reggae about halfway through. Compare this to the Black Uhuru or Dillinger Hip-O comps and it's a bit disappointing. I LOVE roots reggae and older authentic sounds like Toots and the Maytals. This CD just seems to take a path away from strong reggae sounds that I enjoy. Not bad, but not perfect.
Yes, Mon, Yes!.......2004-03-11
This whole CD is absolutely wicked! I urge everyone, familiar with Third World or not, to give this a listen. Believe me it has something to offer you whether you're a reggae fan or not. If you're not already a fan, this may very well convert you. Please do yourself a favor and give it a listen! There isn't enough room here to discuss the wonderful experience that listening to the stellar tunes included in this CD will allow you. Third World are truly Reggae Ambassadors and this CD is truly the Ultimate Collection!

Customer Reviews:
These are not the same arrangements as the original movie soundtracks.......2007-01-21
I was disappointed that these are not the same arrangements as the original movie soundtracks. For example, in Colonel Bogey, the countermarch from the movie soundtrack is not included in the arrangement on this CD. Don't get me wrong, the songs are good, but I would have preferred the same arrangements as the original movies.
An outstanding compilation.......2006-08-25
This compilation is superb and a real must-buy. From Band of Brothers to A Bridge Too Far: every war movie theme is represented here. An all time classic.
The really good ones are missing........2005-07-18
While this compilation has some masterpieces such as the theme from The Great Escape and Is Paris Burning, it's missing some of the finest tracts ever written. Where is the theme from Victory and Ernest Gold's stirring epic from Cross of Iron? The closing theme from Inchon was also a feast for the ears, but it's not here. It was written by Jerry Goldsmith, one of the foremost soundtrack composers of our time. Instead we're subjected to the likes of Hanover Street and The English Patient. I'll admit Inchon and Victory weren't Academy Award winning movies, but their soundtracks were second to none. As John Stossel would say," Give me a break"!!!
"many were winners by the Academy for best scores".......2004-05-26
Silva America presents the essential in film music during the period of World Wars ~ "Longest Day:Ultimate World War Movie Theme", featuring some long forgotten cues, 53 to be exact that sent chills and thrills into the pulses of world events ~ selections from a limited collectors edition that would make any "film-score-buff" green with envy.
Released to commemorate the sixth Anniversary of D-Day, never has there ever been such a tribute compilation package from any other label and Silva comes to the forefront ~ featuring The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (Paul Bateman, Nic Raine Tony Bremner and Carl Davis as conductors), The Philharmonia (Kenneth Alwyn, Jerry Goldsmith, Mario Klemens and Paul Bateman as conductors) and also the world renown Crouch End Festival Chorus (David Temple as choir master) ~ what a gathering of talented musicians and singers fill this collection supreme.
The lineup of composers is a Who's Who in the world of film music ~ John Addison, Tomaso Albinoni, Kenneth J. Alford, Paul Anka, John Barry, Arnold Bax, Elmer Bernstein, Eric Coates, Carl Davis, Klaus Doldinger, Antonin Dvorak, Benjamin Frankel, Gerald Fried, Hugo Friedhofer, Jerry Goldsmith, Ron Goodwin, Bernard Herrmann, Maurice Jarre, Michael Kamen, Jerome Moross, Alfred Newman, Clifton Parker, Alan Rawsthorne, Ryvichi Sakamoto, Lalo Schifrin, Gerard Schurmann, David Shire, Max Steiner, Dimitri Tiomkin, Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Williams, Gabriel Yared and Hans Zimmer ~ set the stage for compositional human drama while exploring the deepest troves of musical emotion ~ one masterpiece after another, each cue manages to display both a convincing authenticity of the times and places ~ experience every tracks passion and skill for striking the exotic orchestral colors, explosive power and spectacular works of full large scale orchestral arrangements previal at every turn.
We are grateful to James Fitzpatrick (producer), Reybnold da Silva (executive producer), Rick Clark (associate producer/album sequence), Marion Garden (associate producer) and the whole gang at Silva America who have resurrected many of the soundtracks for the "film-score-buffs" in all of us.

The producers of this anthology of Irish music must have looked at all those Christmas collections that turn up in December and wondered why a similar wave of green-tinged releases didn't flood the market in March. In that seasonal spirit, The Ultimate St. Patrick's Day Celebration is about as deep an overview of Irish music as Lawrence Welk's 22 Merry Christmas Favorites is a thoughtful meditation on the birth of Christ. The songs selected are nearly as familiar as "White Christmas" ("Danny Boy," "The Rising of the Moon," "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling"). The artists (Clancy Brothers, Irish Rovers, Dubliners) and arrangements are likewise of the crossover variety. And yet, all things considered, this collection will keep revelers reveling--as it's meant to do. --Steven Stolder

GREAT FOR YOUR ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTY.......2000-03-18
We're listening to this(along with several other wonderful Irish cds)at our St. Patrick's party, & it will be played several times more as the evening wears on. The faster, marching band type tunes make you want to dance, & the ballads will have everybody singing along while hoisting their glasses of Guiness. A must-have for your party. Toora-loora-loora!

I purchased this CD to listen to songs by George as I remember them from 63 yrs ago. They were excellent and the sound was superb. I give it five stars!!

An Old Favorite.......2004-06-09
I remember this artist from my childhood in England. I never missed any of his movies. His humor is typically English and sometimes a little risque and may not be understood by the average American. The collection on these two CDs include many of Mr. Formby's most famous songs, his signature tunes "Leaning on a Lampost" and "When I'm Cleaning Windows" are classics. This record is a must for anyone who remembers this great comedian, and wants to recapture the entertainment that he brings.

Native American flutist Douglas Spotted Eagle dedicates this album to children as part of his efforts to support the prevention of child abuse. The result is a compilation of Spotted Eagle's strongest material, beginning with the very emotional "The Traveler," a piece the composer wrote after his children were taken from him. Rife with soothing cedar flute, this album sets an expansive, spiritual mood slow in tempo and sparse in instrumentation. Native chant and drums fill out the swaths of long, lush flute, ambient synth, and chiming guitar. "Daddy's Arms," though an emotionally meaningful song for what seems to be divorced and absent fathers, is definitely the odd pick out. Spotted Eagle is not a trained singer, and the tune would have benefited from one, especially since the featured instrumentation is piano à la Jim Brickman. Outside of this small peculiar blip at the CD's end, this album is a respectable collection of beautiful Native flute music that emits a centered, calming energy. --Karen K. Hugg
Customer Reviews:
In my opinion..........2004-12-23
This is about the best music ever put down on a CD. This music is like a door to another world, even if you do not know it. The ethereal sounds on this album that is sure to relax and totally separate your consciousness from a busy world are unparalleled. For those unfamiliar with this sort of music, it is vaguely similar to Enigma (without chanting or hip-hop backbeat and sexual undertones). However, much like the gregorian chants, the rolling rythyms of the flutes and drums carry a well-known emotion that your soul knows if your mind forgot. This is the sort of sound that can wash stress and worry away... leaving you refreshed, calm, and perhaps a bit somber. It rarely spikes or troughs, but manages to rock your mind to a calm like a gently rippling lake. It definitely is a more natural, earthy sound. If you like grating machine noise, synthesized sounds, or anything along those lines, this may not be for you.
Inspiring.......2000-05-04
Spotted Eagle has become one of my favorite Native American musicians. I have much of his music. This CD is as good as "Pray," but Spotted Eagle actually sings on "Daddy's Arms." What a great voice he has! In addition, he states he cannot sing. Please Douglas, sing to us some more.
Wonderful, moving, Spiritually uplifting........2000-03-19
Every track speaks to you. Wonderful music. Daddy's Arms was beautiful and all the more moving for being sung from the heart. This was my favourite track and I thought his voice was spot on (no pun intended). More in English please.
