Tarantula [Explicit Lyrics]

On Mystikal's last effort, Let's Get Ready, his rapid-fire flows and throaty vocal delivery created two chart-busting singles, "Shake Ya Ass" and "Danger," that became a part of the hip-hop canon for 2000. On Tarantula, Mystikal attempts to duplicate those same sounds and energies with mixed results. "Bouncin' Back (Bumpin' Me Against the Wall)" comes off sounding like a "Shake Ya Ass, Part 2" with much less bite, despite the lyrical potshots hurled at Osama bin Laden and the Pharrell Williams hook. Likewise, "If It Ain't Live, It Ain't Me" reads like a subpar dance-floor equivalent to "Danger." A large bulk of the tracks here are forgettable because of Mystikal's lyrical and thematic limitations. How many different ways can one rap about chasing skirts and boast about sexual prowess? The oversexed rapper juvenalia on "P***y Crook's" or "That's the S**t" come off sounding lame. The collaborations with Redman and Method Man ("Get It Started") and Juvenile ("Settle the Score")--with the latter track soundly squashing any alleged beefs between the two New Orleans-based MCs' former camps--Master P's old No Limit empire, and Cash Money Millionaires save this release from making a fast entry into the bargain bins. Unlike Let's Get Ready, Tarantula carries all bark and little bite. --Dalton Higgins

INTERESTING..........2007-08-02
I had no idea about this Billy/Paris connection, but it's both funny and ironic. If you're a completist of Billy's work, you need this single for "Death From Above". There are versions at both BestBuy and Target, each with it's own bonus track and different-coloured cover/booklet. BestBuy's version has "Death From Above" as it's bonus track, with a yellow-ish cover/booklet...while Target has a purple-ish cover/booklet and the bonus track is the TITLE track, "Zeitgeist"...interesting that the song was left off the regular and deluxe version...BTW, I HATE the packaging on that...big, bulky and obtrusive, and there's nothing special about the pics inside that...I'd much rather have bonus tracks.
Soooo, in the end, buy the Target edition of the album and this single, and marvel at the irony of Paris Hilton, blackberry in hand, standing in front of a mushroom cloud. Oh, the song "Tarantula" is pretty cool, with a nice riff and a melody that grows on you. Billy may seem like a jerk to many, but I think the guy's just misunderstood, that's all...and Jimmy C just proves here that he's a kickbutt drummer too...
If this is Billy being deep, then I'd hate to see his flippant side.......2007-07-17
Tony Danza railed against CNN dubious coverage of Paris Hilton's incarceration. Does this make him philosophical as well?
My problem with Tarantula is that it hardly brings anything new to the table. BC is merely doing a rehash of what people already know. Yes, we are unhandily obsessed with the culthood of celebrity. This is not breaking news. I'm not sure what reaction Billy expected by putting Paris on the cover. Did he think people would turn off The Hills, pick up the latest Mother Jones, and call their state senator?
If anything, the whole thing smacks of opportunism and hypocrisy on Billy's part. For example, see the Pumpkins MySpace saturation. See their latest contest of "make your own Tarantula video using our original green-screen footage!". See Billy's childish blog postings of "It's James' fault that SP broke up! D'Arcy was a mean-spirited, drug-addict! "
Don't bite the hand that feeds you, BC.
I'm guessing Billy was one of those people that made fun of the elected Homecoming royalty in high school but secretly dreamt of being voted king himself. Now he has graduated to criticizing E!'s coverage choices but where would Billy be without his fawning fans? The man clearly enjoys his celebrity status.
As for the song itself, it hardly breaks any new ground musically or lyrically. Yeah, it's full of (misdirected) rage but it has all the power of a banana-cream pie being dropped from a ten-foot ladder. Which is too bad when you consider the power of true zeitgeist songs like Eve of Destruction, Blowin' in the Wind, Imagine, or Orange Crush. Tarantula hardly rates among these tunes.
Borrowing a trick from BC... Here are my b-sides for the title of this review.
OMG! This isn't gr8, it sux...
Billy, meet the pot and the kettle.
The drama queen has no clothes.
Would you like some weienerschnitzel with your zeitgeist, Frau Corgan?
No, I meant what does "ironic" mean?
The song is good and the album cover is a commentary.......2007-07-16
"If the lyrics "don't let me say this/but you're no worse than me/its crazy/we are the real/if real ever was/and just because/we are the real/they feel we have enough" aren't enough to interpret Billy's motives, the not too subtle single cover with Paris Hilton standing in front of a mushroom cloud with a Blackberry in hand completely gives them away. The concept of the new Smashing Pumpkins album centers around America's apathy and languorous attitude concerning the political and social climate produced by our leaders and felt by people around the world. Indeed, the climate of bloggers and MySpace has led to a public more interested in Britney's Spears' haircut than more serious subjects. Although Billy admits, Paris and his listeners are no worse than him. Someone, (the internet, paparazzi, corporations?) gave us sound..."
Overall, Tarantula is a guitar driven pop track that is new and classic Pumpkins all at the same time. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Death From Above isn't so good, and sounds like a repetitious b-side from Billy's solo project.
Unfortunately, I don't think most internet posters are as philosophical as Billy. He is commenting on social decadence and fascination of the public with celebrity, even in the face of the increasingly frightening political front. Ironically, he is also commenting on the absurdity of people gaining notoriety for nothing. Something, those posting opinions on web-forums and review sites should take note of.
One final note, Zeitgeist is an album not about politics or social issues in general. Even though it is a political album, it isn't saying one side or another is right or wrong, it is personal in that it is just Billy's feelings and thoughts about these subjects. I have seen some posts saying that the poster won't listen to an album that is against the war in Iraq. Although the album implies that Billy doesn't agree with the war, it doesn't explicitly criticize it. It more just comments on how Americans are (more interested in Paris Hilton than politics, we are all stars since the advent of the internet, blogs, and MySpace, and overall the system is broken).
I really can't see how putting Paris Hilton on an album cover as a commentary, should yield such a vehement reaction. What has she ever done to you? Did she kill your dog? She is a girl who is famous for nothing, and really hasn't contributed much positive or negative to society. Yet, many posters would make her the equivalent of Hitler.
Its a single.......2007-07-14
Let's put our thinking caps on here people. I doubt Paris being on the cover is meant to be a compliment to her. I'm not the greatest at interpreting art but I can take a stab at this one. There is what appears to be a nuclear bomb going off in the back ground, yet in the foreground is Paris Hilton. MAYBE they're pointing out how people are too obsessed with distractions like Paris Hilton to pay attention to more important things that are going on in the world. If you know what Zeitgeist means and the meaning behind its album art you'll see this fits right in.
As far as the songs go, I like them, but lets face it, singles are about as dead as vinyl these days. This ones for colletors only or people who don't believe in downloading music.
I wish I could give it Zero.......2007-07-14
2 stars get taken off for Paris Hilton being on the cover now add a crappy song & what you have is a coaster for drinks. Enjoy!
BTW:Billy took the pic of Paris himself...Retard!

Muy caliente.......2007-04-20
I first encountered Tito Larriva in David Byrne's 1986 slice of absurdist Texas life "mockumentary" TRUE STORIES. I quickly became enamored of his Tex-Mex rock sound, and have followed his career though his work with the CRUZADOS, as well as his current band - though its various musician change-outs. TARANTISM is Tito & Tarantula's best-selling CD to date and, although it contains only 10 tracks, they are some of the band's best known songs: From the full-throttle, sultry and white-hot "After Dark" (is there a red-blooded male out there who doesn't remember Salma Hayek's "would you like some fries with that shake" table dance in FROM DUSK TILL DAWN) and the frenetic "Angry Cockroaches" (also made famous in the same film), to "Back To The House That Love Built" and "Strange Face Of Love" from the film DESPERADO, Larriva's music has frequently provided the driving musical energy behind Robert Rodriguez's films. (The CD is in fact co-produced by both Larriva and Robert Rodriguez.) This CD represents the best cross-section of the band's early work--before they started to veer off into the musical experimentation of their album LITTLE BITCH.
I am surprised that Larriva hasn't found more of a following in this country. Perhaps it is because his music is hard to categorize. It incorporates elements from classic rock, as well as "Tejano," but doesn't really conform to either. Until the rest of the country catches on, and Tito & Tarantula becomes a household name, they will just have to be our little secret.
Excellente.......2006-10-17
First came across Tito and Tarantula on Robert Rodriguez's Desperado soundtrack - it kicked [...] and this album is more of the same bluesy rock. Stinging guitar licks and passionate highway rock - very visual, very dramatic, very poetic. Highly recommended...

In 30 years of recording with the Soft Boys and solo-wise, Robyn Hitchcock's enduring brand of madcap mayhem has raced between English punk, acoustic folk and sonically lush pop. But by teaming with Seattle pals Pete Buck (REM) and Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5), Hitchcock has made a return to garage rock not heard since 1989's Queen Elvis. More than capable musicians, Buck and McCaughey are long-time fans of the legendary British songwriter-whose droll lyrics and quirky melodies recall the late Syd Barrettand they grasp the assignment with aplomb. Buck's indelible guitar instills a chiming luster to songs like "Underground Sun" and "Red Locust Frenzy," while McCaughey provides a random, finger-snapping piano to the delightful "Belltown Ramble," which finds Hitchcock serving as the clever hobnobbing tour guide of his favorite Emerald City neighborhood. As usual, a sharp cockney twang is Hitchcock's best instrument, carving up the scatty title song as aptly as his ode to San Francisco "(A Man's Gotta Know His Limitations) Briggs" or his salute to "NY Doll," late bassist Arthur Kane. --Scott Holter
Customer Reviews:
Here Is Another Robyn Hitchcock Record.......2007-03-25
Three songs on "Ole! Tarantula" achieve near-greatness: the goofy/creepy title song, "(A Man's Gotta Know His Limitations) Briggs," and "N.Y. Doll." None of the other tracks really moved me--as another reviewer noted, they're standard-issue Robyn Hitchcock surealism. ("Museum Of Sex" is especially disappointing, given the vast Hitchcockian potential implicit in the title--unfortunately, the song's just one more throwaway ramble about tomatoes and metaphysics.)
As a longtime fan (I first saw Robyn perform when I was in college in 1985) I think it's great that Robyn has steadily recorded and released new material for all this time. It's just a bit frustrating to consider his output since about 1990--the intermittent moments of brilliance on his records of the last fifteen years indicate that he's capable of creating another "Underwater Moonlight" if he'd just not settle for putting out product and focus a little harder on the songwriting.
Best Hitchcock in Years.......2007-02-22
This is by far the strongest overall album Robyn has done since the Egyptians, and compares pretty favorably with anything he's done, ever. While albums like "Moss Elixir" and "Jewels for Sofia" have a couple of absolute gems, they're in among weaker songs and arrangements, whereas my favorites here, "Authority Box", "Underground Sun", and "Museum of Sex", only stand out a bit from a very rich background. The Venus 3 come off as more of a real band than any of the groups that Robyn has recorded with since the Egyptians, and while I frankly prefered Andy Metcalfe's bass lines to those of Scott McCaughey, they're a well-balanced ensemble. This is my favorite record of the past 6 months. Strongly recommended.
Great record.......2007-02-16
Not much more to elaborate on here as the positive reviews below have said it nicely. The record is playful, yet serious, deep and light at the same time. The tunes are catchy but not cliche. A great record by a brilliant artist. Didnt give it 5 stars because i reserve that for very few records. Ole Indeed!
Surprisingly Weak Offering.......2007-01-25
I received this cd not having heard Hitchcock's latest recordings in some ten years. It's fair to say I was looking forward to catching up with the old master, but sadly I found these songs to be but a shadow of what Hitchcock once was.
Gone are the superb production values that rivaled the best output of Geoff Emerrick. Gone are the unique rhythms and changing tempos that made Hitchcock's music unpredictable. Gone are the forward vocals that made it seem as though Hitchcock himself would emerge from your radio. What we have is instead is a phantom, someone poorly masquerading as the heir of Barrett.
I hate to write negative reviews, but I found this to be a tired, flaccid recording... disheartening, really, especially in light of such masterpieces as Fegmania!, Element of Light, and Black Snake Diamond Roll.
Where should I start? Perhaps Hitchcock's artistic edge is blunted by the overuse of acoustic accompaniment, but then, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Hitchcock's signature writing style, one of surreal images and unique wordplay, has almost become cliche to even the casual listener. Put a fish or frog in the title, throw in some mathematical abstractions, and Bob's your uncle. Is it really so hard for Hitchcock to step out from behind his metaphors? Come on, Robyn, even your hero Dylan could write a straightforward love song once in a while.
That said, the most glaring and depressing aspect of this cd remains the fact that Hitchcock belts out these songs with a sloth-like enthusiasm that leaves one wondering if his passion for singing is gone.
Nice Surprise!.......2007-01-17
My husband heard this song on the radio and told me how much he liked it. I didn't want to have to go to the crowded stores since it was a Christmas gift. So, I looked up the name of the song/CD on Amazon, they had it, and I ordered it and it was delivered quickly and in good condition. My husband was completely surprised as he never thought I would remember the name, much less buy it for him! He loves it.

Very nice introduction to the work of a great soprano.......2007-07-13
This 2 CD set is a terrific introduction to the body of work of Victoria de los Angeles. As the "liner notes" point out: "She was an artist who brought individuality and a sense of joy to everything she performed. . . ." And this is not hyperbole. She was a top soprano in the middle part of the twentieth century.
Some cuts exemplify her art:
"Un bel di" is a ravishing version of this well known aria. She demonstrates a rich voice with fine musicality. This is a ravishing version of this aria. The singer displays good vocal control. There are nice transitions across the registers.
"Si, mi chiamano Mimi" is another well known work for sopranos. Again, nicely done. She appears (to me anyhow) to catch the spirit of Mimi very nicely indeed.
From "La Traviata," she essays "E strano. . .Sempre Libera." This is an affecting version. She does not have the coloratura armamentarium that some have brought to bear on this aria, but she does a fine job nonetheless. She seems to capture the desperate spirit of Violetta in "Sempre Libera."
Rossini's "Una voce poco fa" is a nice tour de force for sopranos. De los Angeles does a nice job here. This is a work from the Bel canto repertoire, but she does well. She shows vocal agility and captures the spirit of the work. This is an affecting, charming version. There is some occasional vocal harshness, but not a serious issue.
From "Carmen," "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle." Richly and nicely sung.
Her range on this CD is worth noting: from Puccini and Verdi to Wagner to Rossini to Gounod.
And then another of her specialties--songs. She does a nice turn with the Spanish song "Malaguena." Then, in a nice twist, she accompanies herself on guitar in "Adios Granada." I'm not normally so excited about songs, but in this case I found her work enchanting.
So, if you want to get a sense of the artistry of Victoria de los Angeles, this is an excellent starting point. Highly recommended!
The very best performance by Victoria de los Angeles.......2006-09-13
Is the recording on Allegro records of her performance of Madame Butterfly in New Orleans in 1954, not the Rome recording. She is simply radiant, perfect, a voice truly that is a victory for the angels. Unbelievably marvelous.
In Memoriam: A Tribute To The Late Victoria.......2005-02-01
Victoria De Los Angeles died Saturday of heart failure at the age of 83 in Barcelona, Spain. The world of opera mourns her loss. She was a gifted soprano and a wonderful human being. On stage, she was able to directly speak to her audience and communicate with them in a very special and rare way that is not always seen today. She never hid herself behind a facade nor distanced herself from fans and audiences. She was born to sing opera. It was in her blood. This album showcases De Los Angeles in her most memorable and successful roles. Victoria De Los Angeles was one of the first singers from Spain to win worldwide acclaim. Others would follow- Placido Domingo and Montserrat Caballe. De Los Angeles is showcased in this album which may also serve as a tribute to the now late soprano.
Her voice was essentially full lyric with some spinto. Hearing her renditions of "O Mio Babbini Caro"- a signature soprano role, as well as "Ebben Ne Andro Lontana" from La Wally and her performances as Mimi, one is clearly treated to the truest form of a pure lyric soprano. Her voice is spunned gold, with sweet, warm, feminine textures. Her reperotire remained in the Italian and French. Of course, being Spanish, she was a leading singer in Spanish Lieder and romantic ballads. Her Art Songs in Spanish are full of elegance and grace. A champion of obscure composers, she sang and recorded recitals that featured the works of lesser known composers, though strictly Lieder and Folk/Art Song.
Victoria De Los Angeles is fortunately a well-documented artist. Some film footage exist of her performances. I seem to recall that there exists a taped performance of her Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata. She excelled in the lyric roles of Mimi in Puccini's La Boheme, Marguerite in Gounod's Faust. Her Madame Butterfly is a pure lyric rendition, with less of the dramatic intensity other singers have given the role- i.e. Leontine Price, Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, etc. But her Butterfly is actually the way the role ought to be sung. It's a voice of grace, naivete and above all romance that must colorize Butterfly. The dramatic intensity only makes her sound older and madly passionate. She is only a fifteen year old girl who has been deceived and betrayed. She must remain youthful sounding. De Los Angeles does justice to the truest form of Butterfly. She was thrilling in French and Italian operas and her Spanish songs were briliant and beautiful.
Victoria will always be remembered. She was a unique and talented artist of the lyric repertoire. Her pure, lovely voice was like an angel's. There will never be another Victoria De Los Angeles. With her death, the end of an era also passes. In particular, I will always remember one reported incident. She was about to make her first recital in America but she had no accompanist- pianist/guitarist etc. When asked how she would handle this, she remarked: "Well I brought my guitar with me". And she proceeded to accompany herself with the guitar.
the genius of de los angeles.......2004-02-14
the incomparable de los angeles combines exquisite sound and nuance to the world of superb singing. her mastery of a variety of styles is astounding and yet it always sounds natural.her magic will live forever.
A n angelic voice.......2004-02-06
De los Angeles' ability to sing with elegance and style has rarely been equalled and never been surpassed. She's the greatest Charlotte in "Werther", the most tender Santuzza in "Cavalleria Rusticana" and the most sumptuos Nedda in "I Pagliacci". Her Lieder-Recordings are legendary, my favourites are the Spanish ones of course. What a piano-culture and what a velvet sound! Get this set, it's cheap and it has GREAT singing!

The most noble voice.......2004-05-28
Victoria de los Angeles' voice not only has a silken quality and fascinating glow to it but it is one of the most regal, noble sounds you'll ever hear. She illuminated those moments of quietness, gentleness and noble, feminine pride and elegance like no other soprano before and after her. This release of her "Spanish Songs" has never been surpassed. The songs of her homeland seem to have been written for her beautiful instrument alone, she fills every piece with special beauty and charm, religious flair and beautiful, noble simplicity. Buy this recording and see why Victoria is one of the best sopranos ever having come from Spain.
PURCHASE THIS JEWEL WHILE YOU CAN.......2002-01-08
FOR A LONG TIME "SONGS OF SPAIN" HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF CLASSICAL, POPULAR, SECULAR AND RELIGIOUS (CHRISTIAN AND SEPHARDIC) SPANISH SONGS. DE LOS ANGELES DEFIES A RIVAL IN THIS GENRE. DE LARROCHA, SORIANO AND ZANETTI PROVIDE UNEQUALED ACCOMPANIEMENTS. THE RECORDINGS ARE SECOND ONLY TO LIFE PERFORMANCES. I UNDERSTAND THAT EMI INTENDS TO TAKE THIS SET OUT OF PUBLICATION. PURCHASE THIS JEWEL WHILE YOU CAN! I JUST PURCHASED MY THIRD SET FROM AMAZON AND I TREASURE IT AS MUCH AS MY FIRST!
luminous artistry from a genius.......2000-12-26
the vocal artist of vocal artistsdisplays her absolutely gorgeous voice and musical understanding of spanish feeling with a warmth that is unmatched anywhere.the only thing better was to hear her in person!
A special Dignity and an Unfailing Beauty of Voice........2000-09-17
This set offers four generously-filled CDs comprising almost 140 Spanish songs from Victoria de los Angeles' repertoire. To all of them she brings a special dignity and an unfailing beauty of voice. The earliest recordings date from 1950 and the last is the items she sang at the opening of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Yes, you will find the ubiquitous "Clavelitos!" here, and a later version of "La maya el ruisenor" from "Goyescas". The enclosed booklet provides illuminating notes by Lionel Salter, who also translated many of the texts which are also included. Accompanists include Gerald Moore and Alicia de Larrocha, and Victoria de Los Angeles provides a guitar accompaniment herself in one song. The last track of all, a zapateado from a zarzuela, recorded live in New York, must almost have brought the house down.

Customer Reviews:
Solid Album worth your interest.......2006-09-03
I'd have to agree with much of what the other reviewer wrote. This album is very solid. Kind of a mix of Tarantism and Hungry Sally. Missed Your Eyes, It's My Mistake, Torn to Pieces, Hey Hey Whada Ya Say, and In Between are all really, really good tracks. The rest are all good too but these are the standouts. Worth your purchase. Solid effort from a really good band.
Perhaps Tito & Tarantula's best album yet.......2005-12-01
This album is so good that I listen to a few songs from it almost every day! Here's what's hot about it:
Missed Your Eyes--This song has a nice guitar-bass tune that it goes to and a cool chorus, with several members of the band singing. It's a pretty good song overall, especially after te pause halfway through the song. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, and Io Perry.
It's My Mistake--Definately the best song on the album!! Great rock music with especially cool guitar by Peter Atanasoff and some great background vocals by Io Perry. When I want to listen to this album, this is the top priority song to listen to. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, and Io Perry.
California Girl--This is a fairly good song but it can get old after a while. But it still has a nice chorus. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, and Io Perry.
You're the One I Love--I don't like this song that much. Though the guitar and bass are well played, the tune doesn't do much for me. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Torn To Pieces--I really like this song. It has a great dancing beat and tune, and is great to sing along to. One of the album's best. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, Io Perry, and Marcus Praeo.
Hey Hey Hey, Whaddya Say--Another great song with a really good dancing beat and tune. I especially like how it switches off singers in the chorus. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, Io Perry, and Marcus Praeo.
Bullets From A Gun--This song starts out with decieving loud music, but slows down into soft rock. It's not a bad song, I just don't care for it much. However, it does have a very nice chorus and emotional singing. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Make Me--This song features mainly acoustic guitar by Stevie Medina-Hufstefer until a brief piano solo by Marcus Praeo, after which it sports electric guitar by Peter Atanasoff, bass by Io Perry, and drums by Johnny Hernandez. It's not one of my favorite songs on the album, but some parts of the chorus are pretty good and the second half is good. Also has some nice backup singing by Io Perry. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Io Perry.
My Power Is In Your Hands--This is a very good song with roots that can be traced back to the band's song on TARANTISM, Slippin' and Slidin'. It has a really good rock beat with great guitar playing. One of my favorite songs on the album. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Peter Atanasoff.
Ready Made--This song didn't do much for me at first, but now that I listen to it I realize it has some really good guitar playing, especially at the beginning of the second stanza. The singing is also pretty good. It works well with the music. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Stevie Medina-Hufstefer, and Io Perry.
Effortless--This is another one of my favorite songs. It's a great rock song with a really good chorus along with the lyrics. The rock guitar is also very impressive. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
In Between--My last favorite song on the album, thought it isn't at the very top of my favorites list. It takes a while to get to the chorus, but once it's up to it, the song really picks up. Good rythem guitar by Tito Larriva. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, and Io Perry.
Mexican Sky--I'm not overly fond of this song, as it is soft rock song that is just too soft for my taste. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Io Perry.
La Flor De Mal--This is a slow, tormented remake of the Cruzados (Stevie Medina-Hufstefer's father's and Tito's old band from the 80s) song from 1985, La Flor De Mal. The original is much better. This version is slow with the singing almost completely muffled out. The song doesn't show the least bit of liveliness. But the lead and rythem guitar are okay. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
This album is well worth the money you'll pay for it. It's not easy to find in stores so I suggest you order it off amazon as soon as possible.

Tito & Tarantula never lost their touch.......2005-11-30
This album rocks! Almost every song on it is great.
Bleeding Roses--This is a very good song, but after you listen to it too much you may find it stuck in your head for the rest of the day. But it is a very good song, especially the chorus. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, and Johnny Hernandez.
When You Cry--I haven't listened to this song very much, but it still is good. It is another soft rock song, but it still is Tito & Tarantula quality material. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Love In My Blood--One of my favorite songs on the album. The first rock song so far with some excellent lead and rythem guitar. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Peter Atanasoff.
Slow Dream--This song switches off and on between rock and soft rock in the lyrics and the chorus. It is fairly good. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Hungry Sally--This song starts with soft, acoustic guitar and steady singing but progresses to heavy rock and blasting vocals within 6 minutes. It gets pretty good towards the end. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, Jennifer Condos, Petra Haden, and Johnny Hernandez.
My German Fraulein--My favorite song on the whole album. Features some amazing rock guitar, great tunes, and fabulous singing. Definately the album's best song. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, and Johnny Hernandez.
Betcha Can't Play--This short song is fun to listen to but barely has any lyrics. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Clumsy Beautiful World--Another one of the best songs on the album, though not THE best. It has a good tune, and the singing blends well with it. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Peter Atanasoff.
The Devil's In Love--This song is somewhat strange when it comes to lyrics but is good nonetheless. The bass during the chorus is notably good. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva and Peter Atanasoff.
Slow Dream--The only song on the album that I don't like. There is barely any sound throughout this ten-minute song. It has some of the quietist guitar ever played and some of the softest singing ever sung. I'm not even sure if there's any drums at all. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva.
Pieces of Time All In A Line--Another very good song, with some more very odd lyrics. It features guitar playing, bass playing, drum playing, violin playing, and singing; all put to a well-written tune. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, and Johnny Hernandez.
Crucified--This is the hidden-trap song on Pieces of Time All In A Line that is featured in a film co-starring Tito himself. It has some very talented guitar playing from Peter Atanasoff and the usual great singing from Tito Larriva. This song features some of the highest tenor-guitar playing I have ever heard. Featuring vocals by Tito Larriva, Peter Atanasoff, and Johnny Hernandez.
This is one album definately worth buying, as are all of Tito & Tarantula's albums. Help make them popular in the U.S.A, by purchasing this album and becoming a fan now!
These guys rock!.......2005-05-03
I first heard this band in the movie 'Desperado'. I have a couple of their CD's and really enjoy the grooves while driving. If you're a big top 40 fan, (Britney Spears, etc.) You may not like it. The songs are not cranked out of the radio play tune machine and have bizzare subject matter. Keep it up Tito!
P.S.
I have tried with poor success to get my friends into this band, but I stand by my taste.
Exelent album for those smooth rockers.......2002-03-15
Okay, I like just about everything that has a catchy tune. But this group is awsome. And I'm picky about my music. If you put on one of those "Too Poppy For Words" song, I will let you know you're lame. This album has just the right amout of rock that it's on the smooth scale as the one of best. There can always be better, but in my case there is not such a thing. Each song on this cd kick arsh.
AND NOW THIS..........2000-12-30
Here's a couple reviews I borrowed for those who still aren't sure:
The L.A. Times says: "...Larriva could easily assume the title Time magazine once hung on David Byrne, "Renaissance Man"
and the Houston Press says: "...one of the most criminally overlooked, possibly the meanest rock outfit on the planet. In live performance, Tito & Tarantula are truly deadly."
Hot, Hot Sally! Ay, mamacita!.......2000-01-23
I gotta laugh. A review from P.A. USA says that most of the songs are not sung by Tito. Well, I got to read my liner notes again, 'cause when the band came to Seattle, Tito SANG ALL OF THE SONGS. This white-hot second effort rocks non-stop . German Fraulein reminds me of the hot stuff Tito and the CRUZADOS used to do. The band sound even better as each song plays. Another rockin' tune, Clumsy Beautiful World will get you jumpin'. Always one for left-field stories, Tito brings us some David Lynch-like storytelling in Hungry Sally. You just got to hear it. Puras curadas. Peter A. on lead guitar does not disappoint. The guy knows his way up and down the neck. I'll drive a thousand miles to go see these guys play. The cd is excellent, the band is outrageous live. Want to go even further back? Check out the CRUZADOS dynamite cd titled After Dark. Tito shines, and is out to keep real ROCK music in all of our ears. I look forward to their third release, and hope it happens this summer, ese.

a little more mellow than tarantism....but these guys have a distinct unique sound that i enjoy. not really like anyone else.
One of the best rock albums ever!.......2002-10-21
Imagine Velvet Underground, Rolling Stones, KISS & Bob Dylan put in a mexican blender. This is just too good to be true. It gets better and better after each time I listen to it. I'm hooked. Tito & Tarantula... unbelievable stuff.
If you're looking for more Tarantism, forget it.......2002-09-05
I am sorry to say this but in comparison to Tarantism, this cd is a joke. One star for the two songs worth listening: "Silent Train" and "Regresare"

Flickerstick head in a different direction but it still works........2005-09-25
I recently discovered this band and really loved their first album. When I heard Tarantula I was expecting more of the same but I was pleasantly suprised that they took a more adventurous route. The songs are not as poppy and are almost Pink Floyd-ish at times. There are really only two weak songs "Pistol In My Hand" and "Money and Dealers". Other than that another great album by Flickerstick.
amazing!!.......2005-04-04
For fans of Flickerstick, this will exceed everyone's expectations. I was expecting another Astronauts - catchy, melodic and edging on pop - but I was amazed at how much BETTER Flickerstick could actually get. They were my favorite band prior to Tarantula, and now I can say without a doubt that there is no better band out there. My hope is that they remain essentially underground like they were with Astronauts, because I think that's what makes them such an experience. I don't know what to say about this album that hasn't already been said but it's so much less produced than Astronauts, and the sound jumps out and hits you over the head. It's so intense and edgy, and I really hope that Flickerstick keeps it up - they're only getting better!
Worth the wait.......2005-02-22
Definitely surprised by this cd. Not in its goodness, but the sound is fairly different from the flickerstick we've all been used to. Catholic scars, bleeding, never enough, and tourist are all amazing tracks that make sure you know that this cd is gonna kick you in the pants. Recommended all around, but if you knew to find this im sure you're cool enough to just buy it.
Great follow up record.......2004-10-23
The long awaited follow up to Welcoming home The Astronauts shows a great developmental side to this great band. This record pulls you in so many directions with sides of pop, rock, and psychedelic. If you are a fan of this great band, or just someone looking for a great record then this is for you. One of the great releases of this year.
still best band ever!!!!!.......2004-10-14
this cd is awesome! i loved it. flickerstick is one of the best unknown bands out there. this cd has a little bit of everything for everyone. its hard to explain what kind of music it is because i feel i wouldnt be doing it justice, all one has to do is listen to the music and theyll know how special these guys are........if you never heard of flickerstick and this is your first cd of theirs....buy the other 3 you will not be disappointed........FLICKERSTICK IS THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!
