Brothers from Another [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews

Compared to Beanie Siegel, whose B.Coming album boasted a dramatic back story and to Memphis Bleek's 534 which had Jay-Z back again from retirement, Chris and Neef (aka Young Gunz) saw Brother from Another released with little Roc-A-Fella fanfare. Perhaps it's just as well since this CD suffers from the sophomore slump syndrome--a lack of good ideas and uninspired execution. It's not like Gunz are the deepest artists on the roster but their first album, Tough Love, had quality club cuts ("Friday Night," and "Can't Stop, Won't Stop"). Brother lacks stand-out tracks, save for "Set It Off," a mid-tempo anthem. Neef and Chris sound fine on mic--they have a good chemistry and their hooks are solid. They just don't quite find the right groove to get it up and running. --Oliver Wang

Buddha Lounge Vol 4.......2007-01-15
Good chill tracks. I have all the other Buddha lounge CDs as well as Arabic Lounge, whe something works stick with it. Ilike this CD for warm up, Yoga, Pilates, stretching. Also good to chill to very calming rythems.
Chillin' With The Buddha.......2006-10-16
This is an interesting one, that is sort of outside my normal frame of reference. My girlfriend and I were in a "new-agey" store while on a road trip, and we were both sort of intrigued in the music that was playing, which turned out to be this album. I would consider this disc a combination of two genres of music which I am actually rather unfamiliar with-techno and world music. It actually comes together quite well; most of the selections on this compilation are somewhat obscure(to me, anyway) european trance or house DJs (again, I'm going to have to cite unfamiliarity with the current "hip" slang on this subject(*snicker*)which incorporate world music and chanting (in Arabic?) into undeniably modern drum beats and synth programming. There is also a fair amount of briefly-phrased but very melodic electric guitar reminiscent of Buckethead's "Electric Tears" or "Colma" albums...quite a soothing combination, although I could have done without one track, which is sung in French. Excellent music for just relaxing with friends or a glass of wine.
Keep it up Gordon Brothers, your Buddha series is perfect!.......2006-03-09
I was so pleased to see this top compilation series continue with even more great selections. Helen Horlyck's atmospheric vocals and J. Gad of Enigma fame on their track Cape Porcupine, is a great way to introduce this excellent collection of mood music. TYA shares an exotic atmosphere on Why. One And Twain by Ginkgo Garden is spatial and measured as Mueller-Key adds a melodic story. Touche' by TAU adds an inspired French groove. Samah livens up the grouping with Kilada's Arabic/Afro beat & vocals. Bhajya Sahita by Hands Upon the Black Earth has gentle vocals by Renee Petry along with a light-hearted beat by Bobby Cochran. The Gordon Brothers added one of my favorite tracks of theirs, with a club-remix of Empowered, giving a North American contemporary beat; as well with Descent to the Lowerworld, where the brothers always take me on a rewarding venture into deep Shamanic landscapes. Mangoville by David Gordon brings a gentle and instrumental track, which lends a joyful, lazy summer-like feel. With Northern Lights by Stella Maris, this obviously multi-talented group demonstrates their special brand of mystery-pop in both their vocals and melodies. The entrancing American group, the Moontrane Conductors, brings a wide multiplicity of soothing sounds with their In for the Night. Jaya Lakshmi & Deva Priyo hook up to weave together a Sanskrit chant into a rhythmic sway with a contemporary reward in Hamana Nale. And last but not least, Abraham Schenk wields a way among the electric in Sky Walk, which graces the end of this entrancing and soothing album. All together, this album has provided me with many soothing hours of aural enjoyment, and served as easy background music, when I have entertained friends. Keep it up Gordon Brothers, your Buddha series is perfect!
World Class Chill-out.......2006-03-06
Each Buddha-Lounge just keeps getting better. While I love them all, number four is by far my fav! It opens with a track from ACHILLEA which is the new project from Jens Gad, co-producer and guitarist from ENIGMA, then continues with fantastic tracks from many top European artists such as Tya, Stella Maris and gems from underground US beatmasters such as The Moontrane Conductors and Hands Upon Black Earth plus world artists such as renowned Egyptian vocalist Nassar Kilada. The level of quality on this set is among the highest out there. I love putting this on for late night rendezvous!

not sure what this volume 4 is trying to achieve, but me thinks that if you take all 4 volumes and actually pick through the songs you might salvage one decent record...ughhhhh listen at your own risk!

The album isn't bad it's just a little boring, the beats laidback: way back. And the fellas don't seem to inspired.
Tough Luv is one of my fav-albums but this is not by a longshot...
And It's short too less than 50 minutes, Tough Love was over 70 minutes and almost every track was a standout.
Brothers From Another.......2006-01-13
The Young Gunz dropped their sophmore album in 2005 a week after Memphis dropped his album "534".While Memphis showed great lyrical skills and the ability to produce a hit(even if it wasn't a big hit)the Young Gunz were unable to produce a hit on this album and the entire album is lacking that punch that most Rocafella albums have. While Chris and Neef sound great together on the mic and are above average lyricist they dont have anything different to talk about and it gets old after awhile. The up side to this album is the beats and their chemistry together on the mic. While no songs on here stand out it is still an average album and would be a nice addition to a hip-hop collection and more specifically a collection of Rocafella LP's but if u dont have it you wont be missing all that much
Expected a lot more..........2005-11-10
After listening to a copy of Tough Luv that a friend had given me, I was anxiously awaiting this cd. It came out the same day as Common's, so I picked them both up. Man, I was dissapointed. This cd definitely has its high points. Set It off, The Roc is Here, Don't Keep Me Waiting, and Party Tonight are all great songs. However, the production is very sprawling and the ryhmes aren't always the greatest. The cd sounds a lot like a mixtape, and could have been a lot better. I would recommend this if you liked Tough Luv and want to see a different side of the Young Gunz, but other than that, stick with Tough Luv.
Young Gunz , sort of on target .......2005-09-02
Chris and Neef's sophomore album Brothers From Anotehr is not as nearly as good as Tough Luv . It is still a descent album. The beats are gritty and with there silly flow it adds to a good album . I have some complaints though. Chris and Neef's flow needs to get more developed . The album is only 12 tracks long. Pretty good , I hope there next one is way better though.

Excellent.......2006-03-21
I must concur with all the previous reviewers; this set shows the mid-70's Burritos lineup at their best. True, GP is gone, but the team of Sneaky Pete, Chris Ethridge, Joel Scott Hill, Gib Guilbeau, and the multi-talented Gene Parsons play a superb set of Burrito classics, country standards, and new material with skill and finesse. I particularly agree with the reviewer who noted Gene Parsons' contributions as skilled drummer and vocalist. This one is a keeper!
A really good live band.......2003-04-19
I know most Burrito fans are going to miss GP on this, but I totally agree with the previous reviewers.....This is a really good live recording of a really good honky tonk band. Diggi Diggi Li, She Thinks I Still Care, are just classic bar tunes. If I'm hangin at honky tonk club, this is the kinda band I want to listen too.
Great set.......2001-01-11
I agree with Burritoman. This live set shows the mid-70's Burritos at their best. Founding members Chris Ethridge and Sneaky Pete are joined by guitarist/vocalist Joel Scott Hill, guitarist/fiddler/vocalist Gib Guilbeau, and drummer/vocalist Gene Parsons. The song selection is excellent, and the sound quality is superb. Burrito standards are interspersed with new material (including some great Guilbeau material). Gene Parsons also stands out, not only because of his fine drumming, but also for his superb background vocals. This album clearly illustrates that this particular Burritos lineup has long been underrated. Get it - you will enjoy it. Well done, Burritos!
Great mid-'70's live set.......1999-12-11
"From Another Time" is a great collection of live material taken from the 1975 Flying Burrito Bros tour. The lineup of Sneeky Pete on steel, Chris Ethridge on bass, Gene Parsons on drums and vocals, Joel Scott Hill on vocals and guitar and Gib Guilbeau on fiddle and vocals was ready to rock and they did it well. The songs range from Burrito classics to then-new songs from the lp "Flying Again" to country standards. The cd sounds superb as well, making "From Another Time" a necessary addition to any serious Burrito collection.

Tough Luv It Isn't {2.5 Stars}.......2006-09-12
Straight to the point: the album is pretty forgettable. Though it's pretty average, Brothers From Another has too many holes in it for me to give it three stars. "Tonight" has a guest appearance from the usually reliable Daz, but even he couldn't save that song from being pretty boring. "Don't Stop (YG Party)" shouldn't be played while operating heavy machinery, and "Same Sh**, Different Day" is just plain awful.
There are a few strong cuts though. "Grown Man Pt. II" is assisted by Kanye West & John Legend. Kanye does a good job on the production. "Don't Keep Me Waiting (Come Back Soon)" is a nice joint for the ladies, but their hardcore fans may pass on it. "What We Gotta Do" is pretty introspective and is one of the best tracks on the album. "Beef" is solid, but it suffers from a lack of lyrical improvement. "Set It Off" is decent at best, but it's still listenable.
Brothers From Another is pretty weak. Chris and 'Neef haven't improved any on their lyrical scheme. The Tough Luv album masked its weaknesses with tight production. This time around, the production takes a huge step backward and ultimately puts a glaring spotlight on their inabilities. There are too many lame hooks and weak lyrics. I'd only reccomend this album to die hard Roc fans. Everyone else should leave this one on the shelf.
Standout Tracks: Beef, Set It Off feat. Swizz Beats, Don't Keep Me Waiting (Come Back Soon) feat. 112, Grown Man Pt. II feat. Kanye West & John Legend, and What We Gotta Do(My Favorite)

great stuff for gigolos from space.......2001-01-26
this record is a must for all you guys who are not the normal listeners!it is great!!e.g. PMT: a hardcore beat in uptempo combined with the lyrical mastermind divine styler and a bizarre hook line! just try it , you will seeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Decidedly average dance album..........2000-10-15
Kicks off at a frantic pace like some 70s movie car chase but quickly melts into a fairly run of the mill dance album full of cliched samples and familiar beats.
It isn't terrible by any means but why bother with this when there is so much dance music about which is genuinely innovative and interesting.
At its most commercial and fun it ventures into Fatboy Slim territory but does sound very derivitive. At its most avant-garde it can be a bit Red Snapper but is never as adventurous.
Best avoided.
