Non Phixion at their best.......2007-03-12
This c.d. is incredible. Nearly every track has something unique and dope about it that separates it from mainstream hip-hop. This is the real.
Tight.......2006-05-10
This cd is a total package, comes with some bomb beats and strong lyics. Necro knows how to produce some tight tracks, my favorite, "There Is No Future". So if you want a change of pace go out and get this cd, or if you're a hip-hop head you'll like this.
True HipHop.......2005-12-30
This album is a combination of really tight beats and some thugged out (but tastefull) rhymes with topics ranging from terrorism to Brooklyn street life. The lyrics are real, and the production is great. This is nothing like 50 cent or other corporate junk, but still keeps the whole gritty vibe unlike a lot of underground hip-hop which tend to denounce the gangster image.
Overall this album is great, no skipable tracks. "suicide bomb" and "black helicopters" are the two standout tracks, the beats will get stuck in your head for sure. As for the complaint that there is "nothing new" on this album, these guys have been trying to make a release for years but couldn't thanks to major labels trying to control their music. They formed their own label and finally got their music out there...I see nothing wrong with that.
sickshit.......2005-03-07
sabac, ill bill, dj eclipse and goretex are non phixion,
a top notch dj and three absolutely sick mc's,
if you like hardcore hip-hop get this album right now!
from political to gore to gangster, this album tears
aww, too underground ugly for you........2005-01-28
i agree with dan dubs on the genious of doc wicked's review. if your tired of "snake tripe" like some of us are check out the branches off nonphixion, otherwise stick to commercial savvy (em) and the sappy g-unit chumpstyle. rockstars to suicidebomb, cultleader to blackhelicopters, drugmusic to goodbye to yesterday. these guys can and will take a shot. i'm not a thug but i still have the capacity to relate to what's gone on here simply because i live in the real world.

Great First Album/True Hip Hop.......2006-02-10
Three great mc's ill bill, sabac red, and goretex. Great production on this album. You got a few by necro and if you've heard his beats then you know what i'm talkin about. Other greats include dj premier and pete rock. If you don't like the beats on this cd then you obviously don't know how hip-hop really sounds you must be brainwashed by mtv into thinking that the only good beats are on mtv or the radio. Yes they do talk about hoes drugs and killing people but what makes them different from the likes of 50 cent and the game. I'll tell you, they actually can make the song sound good when they talk about it, and every single song isn't entirely based on that subject. So if you haven't been brainwashed and have hope that there is good hip-hop out there give non phixion a try and i hope you'll like them as much as i do.
HARDCORE RAP STRAIGHT OUTTA BROOKLYN.......2005-11-05
I first heard of Nonphixion from an article I read in the source some years ago and I liked what they had to say regarding hip hop and also the producers that were going to feature on their album. I bought it when it was released and I did not come away dissapointed although I did not like it as much as I do now since it has had time to grow on me but it was still solid enough.
The group which consists of rappers Ill Bill(Necros brother)Sabac Red, Goretex and DJ Eclipse have a solid foundation on this album with production handled by Necro, Premo, Pete Rock, the Beatnuts and Large Professor, you know that they are in good hands with people like that behind the boards. Expect hard rugged new york beats with the scratching cuts.
The rhyming on the other hand is a bit hit and miss,on the one hand you have three mc's with distinctive flows enough to separate them carrying street tales the kind you would expect from brooklyn cats while on the other they sometimes tend to rely on mysogenistic raps about sex and hoes although their solo albums which came later proved that they are capable of alot more.
This review is based on the original release and not the new edition which features an extra disc of the albums instrumentals, I would recomend you get that version since the beats are great, overall a solid debut album from a great pair of labels (Psycho logical and Uncle Howie) make sure you seek out their solo albums since they are also fantastic.
great album contradictory lyrics.......2005-09-30
I just got this today and I have to say that with the exception of two mediocre songs this is a wonderful album. Ill beats by preimo, large professer, Necro, and Pete Rock. that part of the album is great. What I really dont appreciate about this joint is that every other lyric is just about random sex acts either performed on the MCs themselves or on prostitutes in the streets. Some might find this entertaining but I find this to be very dissrespectful towards women to top off all of this needless sexual nonsense each one of these MCs has the nerve to sincerely thank god for his work in there life. Give me a break your going to talk about h--s servicing you all throughout the album and then have the nerve to call god your personal savior???? Talk about hypocrisy. nonetheless this was nothing short of an awesome album. Some might be offended by the lyrics but the beats is banging so im keeping this but if they release a whole nother album with the same sex crap on it again they will probably lose this fan.
oh my god.......2005-01-15
This is on constant blast. Good album. A must have. Enough said.

BeKaY is what he says he is...The Future... The kid brings in funny one liners, hardcore lyrics, nice beats and hes only getting better. He is often compared to eminem, but after encore if you compare this talented strait from the streets emcee to that man that just fell off, you deserve to be shot. Simply put the kid spits FIRE.

Really shud be 4 and a half but hey!!.......2002-11-15
A good album plane and simple. A good mix of english style indie/alternative rock. A bit lighter than supergrass and bends era radiohead's soundscapes. And a bit less brash than oasis.Routes in blur.
I thouroughly (spelling!!) recommend this album. To be listened to when chillin in ur bedroom, getting ready to go out
Good stuff
Kings (and Queen) of Portland Pop.......2000-10-20
Portlanders Man Of The Year (aka MOTY) used to be known as Lolly until some sassy little English girl got successful with the same moniker and The Oregon Lolly had to think of a new name. 'The Future Is Not Now' is the long-awaited debut album from these 4 cheeky Portlanders and exceeds even our expectations here at Loveless Records HQ. Beautifully layered guitars awash with keyboards and clever-catchy vocal games make this the most easily accessible and pure pop fun release on the roster thus far: check a sample here or at lovelessrecords.com and I think you'll be swayed by the MOTY way...think Dandy Warhols, Blur....

follow up.......2003-12-14
Oops, sorry, forgot about the soloists. John Aler has a brighter tenor sound, not as dark as Robert Tear, but the way he handles the recitative text is very similar. Both he an John Ostendorf are a little heavy on the vibrato for my taste, but their diction is not that much skewed by it. J. Ostendorf is a heavy, rich bass, which is striking when you first hear it against Aler's brighter lyric voice. It almost seems wooly, but he steers it away from any Wagnerian tendancies to create a striking bu handsome compliment. Baird is gorgeous- it's that simple. She is not my favorite, but she comes real close. With a voice reminiscent of Emma Kirkby and expression along the lines of Janet Baker, it's a refreshing treat among all these increasing Helden-Sopranos who think that baroque music gives them an excuse to through all delicacy out the window. Over all, this recording is more of a 4 1/2, and I think the most well balanced one may come across.
diamond in rough.......2003-12-14
The conductor may be no Raymond Leppard, but he's preferable by a great stretch than some of these other "new baroque" recordings out there where everything is a forte marcato allegretto. He maintains the baroque atmosphere, much like Harnoncourt's sound (is this he? I don't know who the conductor is). The chorus also has the baroque sound, but my goodness! Thank God for a chorus with proper vowels and a nice sound! Much better than some Deutsche Grammaphon choruses I've heard. If you like the Monteverdi Choir with Gardiner, you'd probably like this chorus as well (I myself am a choister and soloist specializing in oratorio and other such sacred music).
An occasional Haendel........1999-10-26
The enclosed booklet is too poor. The singers are only good (the best is the soprano). Only good also the conductor . In this way this Haendel's work seems a minor one. Is really so?
