After dwelling in the shadow of Dipset mentor Cam'ron, Juelz Santana comes fully into his own on his sophomore album. Lyrically, Santana still isn't as clever or charismatic as Cam, though he's got great hooks and a compelling swagger. However, he's figured out how to cut great songs. What the Game's Been Missing is stocked with some great anthems: the excitable chatter of "Mic Check," the loungey swing of "There It Go," and "Oh Yes," which rivals Cam'ron's "Oh Boy" for gleeful charm (however gimmicky). It's not as guest heavy as you'd expect, with just a few cameos, including Young Jeezy and Lil' Wayne, plus Cam of course. Especially after the disappointment of Jim Jones's previous album, Juelz is helping Dipset end on a positive note for 2005. He could still stand to upgrade his lyrical sophistication, but Santana's proving adept in using what talents he's got to full effect. --Oliver Wang

Juelz santana's "what the game's been missing" is horrible. Production wise, lirical wise and over all just plain wack. Okay i give these weak rappers chances but they are truly wack! Juelz santana's rhymes does not make any sense and he proved that on his "santana town" song if you payed any close attetion to that song ? You'll hear bunch of nothing.I quess the mainstream mtv audience will get buy anything as along as its "pop" and "cool" what a shame. Dipset, gay unit, and these mtv2 rappers are whats killing the real hip hop and rap music nowdayz. By the way Juelz santana if your reading this ? Remenber "chu chu train" thats one of your lines ni gga! How can you call yourself a rapper? Well i quess even if lil john is a consider a rapper & a real producer anything is possible right ? Krs one would destroy your none sense rhymes in a second dude.Just my opinion. Peace out!

This Sophmore effort is NOT that good.......2006-07-13

I liked Juelz Santana on his first album 'From Me 2 U' which iz ALOT better than this cd right here.....The Production is handled well by the Heatmakers etc, and on this one, I think Juelz was def slackin on this album.....Im no hater or none of that S***, Im just being real.......Half the time on this album he's not rappin at all, but just relyin on the production too much to make the song sound good with a bunch of generic one-liner verses....Songs like 'Gansta S***, Clockwork, Oh Yes' 'Make It Work For YOu' and 'There It Go' are perfect examples of what im talkin about......Their all club bangers with good beats, but the lyrics were too watered down on those joints......But thats not to say he doesnt get lyrical on this album at all, he uses his storytellin abilities like on songs like 'This Is Me' 'Whatever U Wanna Call It' 'Good Times' show this.....The other parts of this albums are the typical Dipset bangers you'd hear on any album.....My fave track on here is 'Mic Check' on this one.....
This prolly was one of or the most overhyped album of '05, 'From Me To U' is much better than this and shos Juelz at his full potential....What The Games Been Missing Has its moments, after that, the album getz forgettable....

I've heard juelz on mixtapes and know what he can do and this isn't his best work. If there was about 2 more good songs on this cd it would of recieved a 4. His flow isn't smooth and sometimes i think this cd relies on the beats to bring some of the songs up.

First off Juelz Santana isn't a new rapper. His first release was From Me To U, and he release several mixtapes but didn't emerge into the spotlight till Cam'ron let him hop aboard on his hits "Oh Boy" and "Hey Ma" Then he made a huge splash when it came time for his solo joint "There It Go (The Whistle Song)" was very overrated IMO. That's not to say isnt some good stuff in his sophmore album What The Game's Been Missing that's worth checking out.

"Shottas" featuring Cam'ron and Sizzla is good for dancing too, and even though Sizzla brings a reggae feel to the song it's not anything close to that type of music. Of course everyone has already heard the anthemic "Mic Check" although for some reason it's censored on here. There's gotta be a hood song on here of course and "Whatever You Wanna Call It" doesn't fail although Hell Rell fails to impress (not that I thought he would). "Daddy" shows that Juelz has a soft side talking about what would happen if he lost his kid, and "Gone" is his strongest track lyric wise.

So after naming all those good songs why the low rating? Well, for starters this album is 76 minutes long, and with 22 tracks 5 songs doesn't cut it. "Oh Yes" was a guilty pleasure for me, but the chorus worn on me and got annoying after a while. The same goes for the constant screaming in the chorus on "Murda Murda" featuring Cam'ron.

There's plenty of filler tracks too like the ridiculous "I Am Crack", "Gangsta S**t", and "Rumble Man Rumble". And I don't know who Juelz thinks he is with his constant screaming (your not in M.O.P.) thorough the skippable "Violence".

Production fails on "Make It Work For You" with the music sounding like it was produced off a keyboard. It doesnt help that both Young Jeezy and Lil' Wayne outshine him on here too. And when I heard "Clockwork", I was like "Who wasted their time writing this?" Juelz Santana shows that he has potential but he just doesn't have what it takes to carry a whole album.

Yes the game has been missing the constant songs about drugs, girls, cars and jewelery. I tell you Juelz really came with an original formula with this album. The stuff he mentions on this one has never been said before and Juelz is an innovator as well as the rest of the dipset. LOL!!!! These guys listen to other peoples albums and just reiterate the same stuff in a different song and beat. Save your money.

Album Description

A funny thing happened to Juelz Santana on his way to making his sophomore album, What the Game's Been Missing. He fell in love with music. This isn't to say that the young Harlemite didn't have love for music beforehand. But in making his new album, Santana indulged his gift of gab by constructing his own studio.

"When you have your own place to make music, it becomes that much more of a priority. When you can dictate everything about your project that way, you start to really feel the music, feel every beat, every line. It becomes a part of you in a way that just doesn't happen when you're on someone else's dime and someone else's schedule."

You can feel the passion in the music. With the first two singles, Santana has landed a 1-2 combo that still has hip-hop heads spinning. The royal horns of "Mic Check 1, 2" and the absolutely addictive whistles of "There It Go" show off an even more focused Juelz Santana, tossing off ad-libs that other MC's would sign over their lives for ("Don't watch me. Watch T.V.")

"On my first album, I feel like I let a lot of things just go. This time around though, I felt like it was all on me. That's why I built my own studio. That's why I directed my own video. They always say, you wait your whole life to make that first album and pour your whole life into it. But I feel like this one, man, this is my baby."
