EXcellent Package.......2007-08-02
I usually don't pay this much for CDs but based on how unique an item I thought it was worth it. I have to say once I got it and saw for myself I am more then satisfied. The overall package is excellent and it all fits nicely in the case of really good quality you just don't see stuff like this in the states. You get the original songs and the DVD with the openings, which is great I was able to get the modified songs off the DVD to enjoy on my ipod along with the full versions so I can have a complete BLEACH play list very good deal.
this soundtrack is amazing!!!.......2007-07-25
I love this cd! It contains all the opening and ending themes from the anime, also it has a dvd of all the opening and ending videos plus a few pictures from it as well. My only complaint is that most american dvd players won't be able to play the dvd due to it being Japanese, but otherwise I absoulutly love the music and if you like any of the opening or ending themes to the show then this is the cd for you.
I wish I could give it 10 stars!.......2007-04-30
I bought Bleach the Best for the CD alone. The CD is wonderful!!!! My children and I love the songs and have a great time. In the car or doing dishes at home, this CD has music that gets you pumped to watch the series! The CD songs are the openings and closings for the show and it is great to hear them in their true form. The CD set I purchased from Amazon came with the DVD for Region 2 or for Japanese DVD players, pin-ups of the captians and Renji along with a booklet with the lyrics of the songs in Japanese. As far as I am concerned, it is worth every penny!
Best Anime CD in awhile.......2007-04-19
I love this CD! I watched the first 118 episodes of the show and grew to LOVE the theme songs. I wanted them so bad but Amazon has too high a price for this cd, so I bought it used from one of the sellers. I got the cd in perfect condition for half the listed price for a new one, and just wanted to comment on one of the previous feedbacks about the DVD issues.
First off, this listing is for the CD ONLY, at least for the used copies. There is another listing with the CD/DVD combo here on Amazon. So if you want the DVD as well, make sure to look at both listings carefully or you will pay the same price and only get half of the packege, unless you buy used.
But I do say that the price is worth it to fans of the show who are farther along then the english dubbed episodes, because many of the theme songs are from later episodes. Hope this helps anyone interested in the CD.
Greatest CD ever!.......2007-04-05
I love this CD so much. It's all I listen to right now. I play it in the car on the way to work and then put it into my computer and listen to it alla day at work. The artwork on the cover is very cool too. Well worth the price!

BEAUTIFUL SOUNDS.......2007-05-13
VERY PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE,SWITCH AS A WHOLE WAS A GREAT GROUP WHO MADE REMARKABLE MUSIC THAT YOU COULD FEEL AND THE MANY TALENTS OF BOBBY DEBARGE, TRULY AMAZING. MY PERSONAL FAVORITE HANDS DOWN THE SPECIAL "THERE'LL" NEVER BE" THE FIRST SWITCH SINGLE RELEASED IN 1978...THE YEAR I WAS BORN. THIS TUNE HAS A CATCHY GROOVE THE HARMONIES ARE TOP NOTCH AND THE ARRANGEMENT IS EXCELLENT. OTHER HIGH NOTES ON THE ALBUM ARE "FRIEND IN THE SKY", "DON'T TAKE MY LOVE AWAY" IN WHICH YOU REALLY GET A FEEL OF THE VOCAL RANGE BOBBY DEBARGE POSSESED FROM THE START TO FINISH OVER A NICE STRING ARRANGEMENT "YOU AND I" IS A LOVE BALLAD THAT MAKES YOU THINK AND THE VOCALS ARE OUTSTANDING AS USUAL. "LOVE OVER AND OVER" IS A NICE EQUASION OF HEARING THE GROUP SING FOR US ALL IN HARMONY, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE FLAWLESS "I CALL YOUR NAME" IN WHICH IS SAMPLED IN OUR EARS THESE DAYS WHEN WE HEAR "THROW SOME D'S" BY RICH BOY. I ALWAYS WONDER DO THESE NEW ARTISTS FEEL THE MUSIC AND KNOW THE GREATNESS OF ONE IN WHICH THEY ARE SAMPLING OR PERHAPS THEY MAYBE NEVER HEARD OF THE INDIVIDUALS. THE BEST OF SWITCH IS AN ALBUM YOU CAN PUT IN AND IT'S SURE TO RELAX YOUR MIND PUT YOU IN A GROOVE AND DELIGHT YOU.WHEN YOU ARE A TRUE MUSIC LOVER LIKE MYSELF IT NEVER GETS OLD IT JUST ALLOWS YOU TO TAKE A CHANCE AND OBSERVE THE NEW BUT IN DUE TIME YOU TEND TO COME RIGHT BACK TO THE BEST, THE BEST THAT YOU FELT IN GENUINE EXTRAORDINARY MUSIC THAT WILL ALWAYS BE GREAT, AND THAT'S WHAT YOU GET IN THE MILLENNIUM COLLECTION OF THE BEST OF SWITCH. THANKS GENTLEMAN FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL PIECES OF WORK.

I Wanna Be Closer To This Collection.......2006-10-17
Switch were an excellent group despite never making a major impact their music still remain a staple for R&B lovers. Songs like "There'll Never Be" "I Call Your Name" & "I Wanna Be Closer" are timeless jams that still receive airplay to this day on the oldies stations. The album as awhole is a treat and it gives people who were fans of their major singles to become familiar with some of their lesser known songs. It's not a full length album but this compilation is the closer you can become since most of their albums are out of print. You can't deny when you hear one of their singles on radio it makes you feel just as good now then it did when it 1st came out. "I Call Your Name" is the cut.
There Will Never Be Another SWITCH!!!.......2005-09-06
First of all I do like the compilation, I gave it 4 stars because its basically the same album as the 1991 release Best Of...Now i love all the songs on the best of series but how could you leave off others nuggets as "I Wanna Be With You" from the first album "SWITCH" and "Calling On All Girls","You're The one For Me" and "Falling" from SWITCH II The second release, The 3rd release "This Is My Dream" Featured gems such as the title track and "Why'D You Let Love Fall" and "All I Need Is You" this release featured sister Bunny DeBarge contributing three lovely written songs, The 4th release "Reaching For tomorrow' contained nuggets such as "I've Finally Found Someone New" and the beautifully written song "My Friend In The Sky" Very inspirational and Bobby DeBarge vocals here shine through and shows you that there will never be another like him PERIOD! The last release featured the nuggets "I Luv It" and "Push The Switch(HIGH ENERGY SWITCH)" this release also introduced two new members Terrance Gaines on Lead Vocals and Attala Zane Giles on Lead & Bass Guitars ......This release signaled the departure of Bobby DeBarge and Tommy DeBarge the year was 1981. Over all Switch had Five albums for motown. Switch was a well oiled unit and they JAMMED on the Up Tempo joints and as for the Slow Jams they brought the heat wit Bobby and Phillip ingram on vocals that was a nice combo, superb songwriting and musicianship "There'll Never BE" another switch and Bobby DeBarge man with a VOICE like ANGLES of course gone too soon man, What a falsetto......WOW! Now i have all 5 albums and they are in MINT CONDITION and i will be making my own best of serious........Keep Jamming SWITCH!!!!
the best of switch.......2005-08-03
excellent CD, sounds just as good as the original albums--wish we had more of switch to listen to

underrated.......2007-07-30
This is a really good album but its just underrated. Its not like Highway To Hell or Back In Black but its still damn good. If you are an AC/DC fan who doesn't blindly hate
Brian Johnson for horrible reasons than get this album.
ehh.......2007-07-19
I expected this to be a classic album, but I ended up saying "ehh". This album has it's moments Don't get me wrong but it is nowhere in the relm of albums like: "Back In Black" or "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). This is not AC/DC at there best but it has a couple cuts like "Rising power" And Nervous shakedown". But,the rest gives you a sense of medeocrody, maybe the self production could be a factor. But, they set out for a goal and they accomplished it; make a simple rock n' roll album, with no bells, and no cannons.
Heres an overview:
1.Rising Power- Classic, Ac/dc at there best. With Brian's screaming and Angus's Vibrato solo, not to meantion the great riff. 5/5
2. This House Is On Fire- Cool song not as good as "Rising Power" but it gets close. 5/5
3. Flick Of The Switch- Ahh, sweet tittle track, there's nothing else like it. The riff is good, awesome solo by Angus, and Malcoms Rhythm is good too. 4.5/5
4. Nervous Shakedown: This is my pick for best of the album. It has good lyrics, which is important in a song like this, and The solo in this song is one of my all time favorites by Angus, Ever!!! 5/5
5. Landslide- This song gets your heart pounding! The riff in the begining reminds me of "Night Of The Long Knives", but once the drums hit, it's off. Rappid speed and energy keep this track going. It's a good song. 4/5
6. Guns For Hire- In the begining it's just Angus's guitar going really fast, then the song starts. It's an okay song but it dosen't match up to the early tracks. It gets repetitive and I loose interest. 3.5/5
7. Deep In The Hole- Not very good just filler in my opinion. It's basically "Nervous Shakedown" But faster. 3/5
8. Bedlam In Belgium- I like the verses but the chorus is weak and repeitive. Angus's solo is what keeps me interested. 4/5
9. Badlands- This is where things go from bad to whorse, the riff is boring and the song ends up nowhere. 3/5
10. Brain Shake- The opening riff sounds supprizingly good. But then it just gets bland, this is like a combination of every bad song on this cd. 3/5
So you see AC/DC went back to there roots with this on, Maybe it was best to leave them in the ground- Chuck
A Disappointment After Consisstant Greatness.......2007-01-25
I love Ac/Dc...they are one of my favorite bands but this release was a disappointment...It is not horrible, and by any other band's standards it rocks with the best of 'em...but following Highway To Hell,Back In Black, and For Those About To Rock anyone is bound to lose a little artistic steam...
you would never know it from the opening track 'Rising Power' which is a classic that could have been on 'Back In Black' it's really that good...'This House Is On Fire' follows and is more power in your face rock and roll that they are known for...'FLick Of The Switch' comes after that...this is another classic, great hooks, great rocking tune..'Nervous Shakedown' follows and is another great tune...but what happens after that? The rest of the songs sound like they just ran out of ideas.Don't get me wrong,it's still rock at some of it's finest..but the memorable hooks are just not there for the rest of the album...it is a similar problem they faced with 'For Those About To Rock' but there were enough fantastic classic tunes on that release to carry the weaker songs...this one just feels weighted down and dare I say slightly boring...
I've said before and I'll say it here, even Ac/Dc at their worst is better then 90 percent of all bands at their best...but definitely start with Highway To Hell and Back In Black, then move on to Dirty Deeds and For Those About To Rock...then get the rest of the catalog...this one is a must have for all Ac/Dc fans...Rising power alone makes it worthwhile!
The Upside - pretty good production,Angus,Brian and the rest of the band are playing great as always,Rising Power and Flick of The Switch are 2 of the bands best songs...very consisstant hard rocking tunes
The Downside - The memorable hooks are gone during the second half...The begining is all power and fury and you're left wondering what happened
The Bottom Line - Must have rock and roll for all Ac/Dc fans...but to those that are not familiar you might get bored...Start with the classics Highway To Hell and Back In Black...but it is a worthy addition to any rock fan's collection...donutman says so!!!
AWESOME ALBUM!.......2007-01-16
I am an ACDC fan down to the core and this album has great soundtracks! I absolutely LOVE it! I don't care if there is someone who doesn't like it because if they don't then they aren't a true fan. If you love ACDC as much as I do, and you want to expand your CD collection. This is a definet MUST HAVE! Flick of the Switch is just plain AWESOME! My favorite song is Nervous Shakedown!! ACDC ROCKS!!
This Is The Best AC/DC Album...........Period !!!!!!.......2006-09-29
I own each and every one of AC/DC's albums and I like this one the best.
Sure Back In Black has a few Great songs and the rest are Good along with Highway To Hell etc. But try some of the other albums most exceed the popular ones 10 to 1 like Flick of The Switch. So once again this is my favorite then I would have to say Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.
Every AC/DC album is great but this one is awesome.
BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Switch, INXS's first release since re-fashioning itself as a prime-time reality show spectacle, could earn somebody an A in sociology. A poll of inter-generational hipsters is bound to show that the degree to which you like it correlates directly to your age. The over-30 crowd--those who once shimmied to the late Michael Hutchence's hugely sexy vocal turns on hits such as "Need You Tonight" and "What You Need"--might have a hard time dissing it, mainly because J.D. Fortune succeeds so unswervingly at imitating him. On the other hand... there it is: imitation doesn't always sit well with the generation that recently ripped into Paul Rodgers for parading around stages as Freddy Mercury, and as much as 30-something rock sophisticates will want to relive INXS's heyday, they'll do so suspiciously without Hutchence at the helm. Younger fans, on the other hand--the ones that discovered the band on reality TV--can enjoy J.D. Fortune and co. without reservation, and they will love this disc best. For them, "Devil's Party" (reminiscent of "Original Sin") will arrive without reference, thereby making near-impossible funk-rock coolness seem new. Ditto that effect on "Pretty Vegas," a vampy number co-written by Fortune that owes its guitar riff to "Devil Inside." "Like It or Not" and "Hot Girls," two other standouts, also go a long way toward peeling away the poser tag Hutchence fans may want to affix to Fortune, but may not entirely remove it. For some fans, Hutchence's "Never Tear Us Apart" plea is a personal thing. --Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Will remain a true INXS fan.........2007-01-09
Never saw Rock Star but am very pleased with new singer J.D.. INXS sound is intact. Loved this release and look forward to many more.
Switch breaths new life to their classic sound.......2006-12-26
I was one of those who mourned the death of Michael Hutchence back in the day. Having seen him front the band in concert was an experience that most would have a hard time forgetting and definitely something hard to match. But I recently had the opportunity of seeing them with J.D. Fortune leading the act towards the end of their tour promoting this album. And I admit I was floored.
The band retains the flavor and power that characterized their sound in the eighties and early nineties. J.D. breathes new life to their classic vocals and finds his space into their new tracks, resulting in an eclectic album that occasionally reminds of their old selves as much as they bring U2 to mind ("Hungry"), while they break special new ground with songs such as the two opening tracks.
I find myself digging their new presence and sound and bid them a long new life with J.D. singing.
Switch This.......2006-11-08
In the decade of big hair and the trickle-down theory, there was no better rock band hitting the pop charts than INXS. I was a skeptic when the reality series for a new lead singer began and certain Michael Hutchence was irreplaceable even before that, but I stand corrected. One wouldn't even know that a change has taken place when you hear the vocal similarities in frontman J.D. Fortune. The music is also the classic INXS sound with pop melodies and thrashy rock beats from the opening cut of "Devil's Party," to the closing, loving tribute of "God's Top Ten." Now that INXS are back, I only look forward to many more releases in the years to come.
Like it or not, INXS has found their new "shining star".......2006-10-31
First and foremost, the legacy of Michael Hutchence is safe and sound and in no way is this album a threat to that. Being a huge fan of INXS for several years, I thought that using a reality TV show to replace their deceased frontman was a huge slap in the face.
However, as soon as the first vocals are heard on "Switch", you cannot deny the remarkable presence that is heard. Not only does JD Fortune sound eerily like his predecessor, but the overall sound of INXS is in tact and this album is an impressive rebirth. It's hard to find an actual "bad" song on this album. The opening half of the album sounds almost as if the spirit of Michael was present in its making.
Anyone can try and tear this album to pieces and critique the new vocalist here, but the plain truth is that INXS has been rejuvenated and they sound as good as they ever did. Most importantly, they've made an album that Michael would be proud of.
JD Great Addition.......2006-10-03
This album is the best... I cannot wait for their next album!

About the Artists
Nate Borofsky, Doris Muramatsu, and Ty Greenstein of the modern folk trio Girlyman scheduled the group's first rehearsal for September 11, 2001. Doris and Ty, who met in the second grade, had recently abandoned their former project as a duo; their friend Nate had just moved to New York after four solo years on the Boston music scene. When all three suddenly found themselves living in the same Brooklyn apartment, it seemed only natural to combine their talents into a new group. According to Nate, the rehearsal was quickly forgotten, but the events of September 11 helped shape the trio's vision: "It brought us in touch with our own mortality. We realized that we wanted to have fun, to do what felt right to us, and to not take ourselves too seriously. We started out by calling ourselves Girlyman."
Maybe it's this mix of earnestness and humor that has audiences nationwide falling in love with Girlyman, or maybe it's just that their soaring three-part harmonies are unlike anything you've ever heard. Maybe it's their folk-pop-bluegrass soundsomething like Nickel Creek meets the B-52's, where the members switch off songwriting duties, lead vocals, and a range of instrumentsor maybe it's the catchy, often haunting melodies. Either way, Girlyman is on a roll. After the group won an Independent Music Award for their debut CD Remember Who I Am, Amy Ray (one of the contest's judges) decided to sign them to her indie label Daemon Records. When the Indigo Girls invited Girlyman to join them on the road, the as-yet unknown opening act received standing ovations and sold so many CDs that the label had to make an emergency shipment...and when those sold out, another.
Since then, the buzz about Girlyman has grown to a low roar. Since signing with Daemon, Girlyman has appeared on internationally syndicated radio shows like Mountain Stage and has received dazzling reviews in dozens of national and regional publications. The trio's robust 2004 festival season included appearances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Boston Folk Festival, and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, where Girlyman was voted "Most Wanted to Return."
"The word about Girlyman is spreading like wildfire," says Ray, "and the kicker is that they've just begun."
Customer Reviews:
Exceptional songwriting, vocal, arranging talent in a small group........2007-07-09
This Little Star CD is one of the most enjoyable discoveries I've made lately. The songs are from the heart and head. The arrangements of instrumentation are very tasty. Nice use of mandolin and guitar - maybe the most subtle vocal backing instrumentation I've heard in a long time. All of that exists to give space for very tight vocal harmonies that work well in every song. All cuts are a pleasure, but in my estimation the particularly notables are: "I Wonder Where You've Gone", "Genevieve", "I Know Where You Are", and "This Is Me". Girlyman are vocalists first and foremost and I'm thankful for that.
Fabulous group, superb CD.......2007-04-02
Just got back from Northampton, MA concert. Sat through 2 sets. College crowd, banter appropriate to crowd, talented trio of musicians (all multi-instrumental), compelling music, great harmony...no, GREAT harmony. They position themselves as folk artists, and while this isn't folk the way this sixtysomething remembers it, I see their intent and they succeed at redefining the genre. Little Star loaded with quixotic themes, solid selections from 1 to 12. Just make sure you get to #12 -- it's a gem!
5 stars plus.......2006-09-06
Such a wide range of music types on one cd, everyone will like something. Most people will like them all. Indigo Girls are still my favorite, but Girlymans harmonies are "3" times better.
Im doing my part to spread the GIRLY word!!!!
Great music as always........2006-04-22
I saw Girlyman in concert with Dar Williams and let me tell you they stole the show...even though they weren't the mainliner band. I absolutely love this CD! It always give me chills to hear how well their voices harmonize. I'd definately love to see them again. You can't go wrong with this cd.

F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!.......2006-02-02
I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.
At LAST the complete series ORIGINAL soundtrack, the wait is over!.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

"Switch" to a CD copy and rediscover this gem!.......2007-07-10
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various music supplies and recordings from the 60's and 70's.
Not only the cynics from the critic world misconstrued the 1975 release from Golden Earring called "Switch" but some of their fans.
The same comment would become prevalent, why did they take a step back? After the success of the 1973 "Mountain" with the monster airplay of "Radar Love" and a good amount of spins from "Candy's Going Bad" many clamored for the same thing.
The clue is in the title "Switch." The band did not go backwards in the least. It was a decision to opt for a new approach. "Intro: Plus Minus Absurdio" is not the typical opening track for a record but something about the guitar and keyboard peak your interest. "Love Is A Rodeo" is the three minute rock and roll song that should go on forever. It is well constructed and the more you listen the more you appreciate the nuances. "The Switch" is more of the same but with a bit of boogie to further solidify the enjoyment. "Kill Me (Ce Soir)" is one of the most underrated songs the band would pen. The delivery of the lyrics and the music blend into one powerful force. "Tons of Time" takes you to another realm. It almost sounds as if it could come from a progressive rock album. "Daddy's Gonna Save My Soul" gets in your face and has no attention of leaving. Clever lyrics and nice licks! "Troubles and Hassles" gives us four minutes of a rock and roll joy ride. "Lonesome D.J." is a tremendous closing song the guitar shines as brightly as the lyrics.
If this record didn't get your attention the first time, try this- Give it a fresh chance on CD and don't compare it to other Golden Earring albums judge it on the merits of the material included here.
Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

I HAVE FOLLOWED THE GOLDEN EARRING FROM BEGINNING. THIS SECOND RECORDING IS THE TOP OF THEIR MUSIC COLLECTION. THE ALBUMS THAT FOLLOWED WENT DOWNHILL EXCEPT FOR THE SINGLE [TWILIGHT ZONE]
ONE OF GOLDEN EARRING'S BEST ALBUMS.......2006-11-10
I originally picked this album up in a budget bin in 1979 or 1980. They were phasing out 8 track tape players and everyone was converting to cassette tapes. My 1969 Olds Cutlass still had an 8 track player in it, so I was grabbing-up 8 track tapes for 99 cents each. Out of all the 8 tracks I picked up like that, this was the best one. After listening to this album, I became a big Golden Earring fan, and since then I have snatched up almost all their albums over the years (paying much more than 99 cents a piece because you could only get them as imports).
I can understand why this album did not do well as a follow-up to Moontan. In my opinion, Moontan is Golden Earring's best album, but Switch really grows on you. It just didn't have any hits and it doesn't have any hard rockers on it. But like I said, it really grows on you, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to explore the Golden Earring sound beyound Radar Love or Twilight Zone.
One of the real problems with Golden Earring's album library is that their best of album "The Continuing Story of Radar Love" is truly flawed and the new "The Devil Made Me Do It" isn't any better. First of all the Continuing Story of Radar Love doesn't have "When the Lady Smiles" a sensational tune if you haven't heard it (and an even better video). And secondly, it doesn't have enough songs from Moontan, Switch, and Grab It for Second. They should release a 2 disc best of set, with the first disc concentrating on their 70's output (forget the 60's but maybe put the live version of Eight Miles High on it) and the second disc concentrating on their 80's (and maybe some 90's) output. Anyway, I don't think it's going to happen, so that's why I'm buying up the remastered versions of most of their albums.
I've heard some people say that Golden Earring is just a 2 hit wonder, and although that may be technically correct, if you are just listening to the hits then you really are missing out on some genuinely great music (try "Are You Receiving Me?" from Moontan, "Tons of Time" from Switch, and "Against the Grain" from Grab It For a Second).
Switchin's Easy.......2006-09-15
When I first bought this album, I had to double check if it was the same band that I knew and loved from the 'Moontan' album. I was not impressed to say the least. But after it spent a couple of months in my 'unplayed' pile, I was telling someone about the album (and my disappointment) when songs from it started popping into my head. I dug it out and put it on when I got home, and it's like I heard it with a new set of ears. This was awesome!!!
Though the drums and bass always seem to hold up their end extremely well (Great work, Cesar and Rinus), it is George Kooymans lightning guitar work and Barry Hay's eclectic vocal stylings that propel this set. As a whole, it's more diverse and progressive than the Moontan album, and almost as flawless.
'Intro/Plus Minus Absurdio' is an instrumental showcase with Kooymans blazing his lead guitar work so fast that you may be tempted to slow the CD down just to take it all in. The song ends. and before you can catch your breath 'Love is a Rodeo' blasts in with an energy all its' own - it really rocks. 'The Switch' starts out with a sort of jazz feel to it, and changes gears back and forth from that to straight-ahead rock and back again. It's quite catchy.
'Ce Soir' is the most dramatic song on the CD, and sort of a throwback to their 'Moontan' style. The way that the song builds in volume and intensity is just plain gripping. 'Tons of Time' has sort of a reggae feel to it, and is a nice divrsion from some of the harder edge songs. 'Daddy's gonna Save My Soul' is probably my least favorite track. It starts out with a riff that sounds like it was twisted from 'Vanilla Queen', shifte aimlessly into a heavy guitar-laden verse, climbs a scale during the bridge, and has a chorus that doesn't go anywhere. Despite all this, it
is not a truly bad song, but it pales compared with the rest of the set.
'Troubles and Hassles' greets us with a wall of rock on the verses, and then backs off teasingly when it hits the bridge. This song really stays with me for a long time after hearing it, it's quite infections. 'The Lonesome DJ' is a George Kooymans lamenting ballad that comes off as sincere and mournful, before finishing off with an uptempo rock ending that really works well.
While 'Switch' is not Golden Earring's best CD, it definitely is not far from it. This is a fine, ambitions set from a great rock band, and it is a pity that both the album and the artist are grossly underrated. Do yourself a favor, and give this album a listen.
This album rocks!.......2005-12-13
I'll never understand why this album gets so many bad reviews. This is absolutely one of my favorite GE albums. I cannot listen to Love is a Rodeo without reaching for the volume control to crank it up. The intro, Kill Me (Ce Soir), the Switch, Lonesome DJ, etc. they're all great songs. I think too many people were expecting a repeat of their last album, but one of the things I love about this band is they never sound the same twice. Great album!

"Everything's waiting here" for fans of great rock 'n' roll........2006-07-14
For some "hot fun in the summertime," try this album from indie-rock band L.P., which share those initials with its unnamed & enigmatic frontwoman. Eleven songs of love, lust & longing raise the temperature and crackle with the enery of heat lightening on a summer night.
The fragile powerhouse who fronts L.P. is a young woman whose meticulously honed talent brings us an arresting array of material in this album that should not be such a well-kept secret. Songs range from the bachanalian chant of "Little Death" to the soulful anthem (& title track) "Suburban Sprawl & Alcohol."
The vital rock format is well-crafted here, but the propulsive music is anything but generic. Treat yourself to something that will stop you in your/those ho-sum, sing-song tracks. These are stunning downtown art songs that allow listeners to get "Wasted" (track 1, a sort of carpe-diem power ballad: "get wasted on love...life...with me") on something that's very right indeed.
The listenable lyrics are smart and entertaining; irony and humor are used to good effect. "Darkside" croons " I hope you're happy with your ordinary life/It's the wrong place/the wrong time/the darkside."
Most of these songs speak with a disarming directness that, combined with the purity of L.P.'s vocals, create something more than another college station sound.
It would seem unlikely that the beautiful bearer of the voice behind S.S.&A. is channeling loss, regret, and yearning (as opposed to, say, exhilaration, ecstasy, and ego). A winning ambisexual combination of pre-Raphaelite angel and the young Bruce Springsteen, L.P.'s performance style is uncalculated and unrestrained. With a face like a cameo portrait, this self-professed "big ol' d*ke" eludes easy categorization. Her voice's extraordinary technical and expressive qualities leave few unmoved and are best showcased here on the title track. Its simple refrain, "we all turn back in the end," is like a prism she's holding to the light and tilting as it shimmers between anguish, indignation, and acceptance.
L.P.'s live shows begin with (and sustain) a fierce energy that would seem to explain the lightening bolt image on the cover of a previous album, "Heart-
Shaped Scar." I heard the band open for Joe Grushecky at the Stone Pony (Asbury Park, NJ) in Feb. '06 and they were anything but overshadowed by the talent that came before and after them. Expect to be astonished!
Better than any Beyonce cd.......2006-03-02
I purchased L.P.'s Suburban Sprawl & Alcohol two months ago and have yet to put it down! It's amazing!! Her voice is so razor-sharp and the music is very barlike: all in a good way. Her lyrics are heartfelt and true, and anyone can connect to songs like "Get Over Yourself" and "All I Have". Most are upbeat but there is still some monster rock ballads for that cool down time, such as "Cadillac Life." I truley believe whomever buys this cd will not be dissapointed. It is a one of a kind and so is L.P. She's a musical and lyrical genuis and I am so happy I bought Suburban Sprawl and Alcohol. I think you will be too!
OH MY GOD!!.......2005-08-02
Having heard only two songs off of this cd, I felt compelled to buy it because I KNEW it was destined to be a favorite of mine. Well, LP did not disappoint!! This cd is one of the best I've heard in a long, long time. Her vocals are AMAZING! From the tender vocals of Nowhere and the title track, to the rockin' (and I mean ROCKIN"!!!), kick-ass tracks like Little Death and Heartless.
If you are a lover of killer vocals and great songwriting, do yourself a favor and pick up this disc...........NOW!! Especially if you dig females who rock!
Looking forward to the next one!
Michelle
glad I found them.......2005-04-09
I saw the band last night in Portland, Maine. What a great bunch of songs, with a strong lead singer with a great voice. The band is soild as a rock. Let's put it this way after getting home from the show, I am up buying both albums. No matter what you are into L.P. may be the cure. This band is going to make it all the way, mark my words.
BUY THIS CD....
SXSW story.......2005-03-23
Just got back from the South by Southwest conference where I saw a lot of great bands, but the only one that blew my mind was this group from NYC called L.P. (later found out that's the singer's name). On Friday night, my sister and I were getting ready to call it a night after watching way too many bands, and were looking for a cab when we happened to be walking past Coyote Ugly, of all places, and heard this amazing rock 'n roll coming out the doorway. We didn't say anything to each other, just wandered in like we were hypnotized. Watched the last 1/2 of their set with our jaws agape. It was like stumbling into a club in the 70s and happening upon T. Rex or Patti Smith Group or the Pretenders. We just couldn't believe what we were hearing. Easily the best band we saw at SXSW, and we saw some pretty damn good bands. They were just fantastic. L.P. is unbelievably talented and her band just rocks like hell. She sings every song like it's the last thing she'll ever do. My favorite song she did when I saw her play is actually a non-CD track available on her website (www.lprock.com) called My Cinderella - it's an instant classic, look under Downloads. I guess that will be on next album. This record is still great though, so many good songs. Even if you're really picky and not easily impressed, this will impress you. And your friends will thank you for turning them onto something great.

Great disc! Give it a shot........2005-06-21
I had picked up this disc awhile ago after seeing them at a gig and lost it. Well, I just found it recently and gave it a spin and it's got some great songs on it. Their new disc is much better but give this one a try. If you dig Chevelle or From Zero you might like these guys.
Very awesome compilation!.......2004-10-20
I picked up my disc at a show in Ann Arbor, Michigan just a couple days ago! These guys have done an awesome job -- I can't put this CD down. The riffs are catchy, the beats are awesome, and I particularly love the synth work in Lullaby. The lyrics are thoughtful and the vox are awesomely melodious for a rock band. This is the kind of stuff you can play on loop constantly and just plain not grow tired of it... This CD is a steal at this price. And if you like the CD, be sure to see them live at your earliest convenience, because they put on an awesome show!
Nothing else like it.......2004-04-06
It's so refreshing to hear something new and different. These guys are doing it right. The songs are sick and the playing is off the hinges. Hot vocals too. There's a cool vibe throughout this CD. It hasn't left my changer since I bought it in January. Highly recommended.
My favorite CD.......2004-04-03
I have a lot to say about this CD. Firstly, I totally stumbled onto Hypnogaja when I was watching the show "Las Vegas" and I heard their song "Voodoo Baby" in one of the scenes. It took me a while to find out who did the song and I finally found it on copy of a European CD - "Bridge to Nowhere" - so I bought it. I was really impressed with the band's depth and originality, so I bought this CD. It has to be one of my favorite albums ever. I listen to it all the time and really enjoy the personal feel of the words. The singer just seems to be singing about my life. My favorite songs are "Nothing Box," "The Spaceman" and "Lullaby." I can't wait for the next CD!
Jill from L.A. sucks.......2004-03-19
This band is awesome. Have the CD. Bought 6 for christmas gifts and just bought several more for birthday gifts. Jill from L.A. and Tom from New Hampshire and all the other alias' this loser with obviously too much free time comes up with, sucks. They obviosuly need to go find a day job instead of worrying about other people "keeping" theirs. This person is obviously a failure at whatever they think they do in life, and they are bitter at everyone else who ISN't a failure. You can't just talk smack and get fans to not like a band. If we like the music, we like the music. We don't know you so why would we care what you think? You are a speck in our universe, try to grasp that concept. Just walk away now you little Amazon troll.

tight Collection.......2007-02-25
Switch is a very underrated band. they blended grooves&had some of the baddest slow jams from back in the day. lead by the Late Bobby Debarge (RIP)who was a very talented soul brother, his voice was the signature of this band. the Band is very talented&also not only discovered by Jermaine Jackson, but they also had his contributions as well."I call your name",They'll never be","Best beat in town",etc......
Nothing like the actual albums............2003-03-25
Switch was fantastic back then. I own all 5 albums in the original state and I would have never thought back then that those albums would be so valuable to me today. This compilation is great but does not measure up to all the other tunes. I would love to get an update on the remaining band members: greg williams, thomas debarge, eddie fluellen, jody sims, and phillip ingram. I would also love to see any archives of past performances, or perhaps past and present pictures. "There'll Never Be" another group like "SWITCH."
A group that did not get its due.......2002-10-15
This group is one of the groups I felt that did not get its due. The songs There will never be, I want to be closer and I call your name show this groups skills. This is a collector's item for old school R&B fans.
What A Way To Bring Back The Memories!.......2000-11-13
The rating is mediocre because of the lesser tracks included on the disc. Although "I Call Your Name" & "There'll Never Be" more than deserve 5 stars by themselves. Oh, the memories listening brought back to me! But, the best treat of all, was when my 16 year old niece knew "I Call Your Name" and we did an impromptu duet in the parking lot of Whole Foods. Music and memories at their best.
FOR THOSE WHO APPRECIATE HARMONY.......2000-11-10
