Think of this follow-up to Nelly's multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Nellyville as the rap equivalent of Hamburger Helper--neither tasty nor nutritious enough to make a full meal on its own. The album attempts to keep the spotlight on the St. Louis rapper while he's (presumably) in the studio working on new material. Misleadingly subtitled The Reinvention, it would be a stretch to call any of the cuts bona fide remixes. While it's true that the lyrics here are almost identical to those on the original versions, the album's producers must share the blame for its superfluity. Exceptionally disappointing tracks include the Jermaine Dupri-produced "Dilemma" remix and David Banner's grunge-rock take on "Air Force Ones." Da Derrty Versions does have its moments, notably "Kings Highway," one of three previously unreleased songs, but many of these bland retreads will satisfy only the most ardent Nelly fans. --Rebecca Levine

I really do hate this guy. If me and him died at the same time and went to hell together. I would beat his a** so bad and so often,the devil will have no choice but to make me one of his higher demons.

Nelly does it again........2005-09-28

Nelly truly does do it again with smash hits like "E.I.", "Hot in Herre", "Ride Wit Me", and many others convienently on one CD. My favorite album by far including over "Sweat" and "Suit".

This CD is a good investment for any Nelly fans if you don't already have Nellyville and Country Grammer because it takes some of the best songs from both albums: Ride wit Me, E.I. Country Grammer, Dilema Hot in Herre. If you already have both albums, then you don't need this CD. But if you don't, buy it. It has great songs to dance to and other songs to blast while driving down the highway.

Nelly has some how done it again. Just when they thought he was a two CD wonder he comes out with one of his hottest albums yet. He takes all his old hits, adds a new beat, and throws together some of his best lyrics yet to make one hot album. If your a hip hop fan or just a music fan in general this is one CD you must have.

Nelly is just plain awesome. I thought it would just be the typical remix album. Not the case. A lot of the songs have new beats with similar lyrics to the remixed song. Give it a try but get the Derrty version...

I Hate Remixes!.......2004-01-24

Nelly was very far from being my favorite rapper, but he had some very nice songs, indeed. So that's why I bought this CD, because I looked at its tracks and I saw many familiar songs, really good songs, that I already knew, so it was almost certain I'd love them again. But I didn't.
There wasn't any warning in the front cover that all songs in there were remixes. I should've guessed, but I didn't. I expected something like Nelly's Greatest Hits, and that wasn't what I have found.
I bought this album because of "Dilemma" and "Ride Wit Me", because I loved those songs, everytime I listened to them in the radio I thought "dude, I've gotta buy those albums!". But... where's that catchy chorus from "Ride Wit Me" in this remix? "Dilemma"'s remix was Ok, but not "Ride Wit Me"'s, it was really bad. I have to say the same thing about every other songs in this album. I didn't know them in their original versions, but the remixes suck!
I'll give Nelly another chance by purchasing "Country Grammar" to listen to the REAL "Ride Wit Me", but if that album also sucks, I'll never buy anything else with Nelly's name on it. Don't buy this album, guys. If you want a good Nelly album, try "Nellyville" or "Country Grammar" instead. Peace out, I'm gone.
