Young Buck is out to show the rap world that he's no mere 50 Cent lackey. Yet, Buck and 50 share an equally intense love for firearms and hustle-specific wordplay. 50 utters death threats on the hook of "I'm a Soldier"--right after the gun shot sound effects, of course--and the thuggery just accelerates from there. "Do It Like Me" and "Prices on My Head" reveal Buck's Tupacian persecution complex. Burgeoning beat miners Midi Mafia rework a classical music sample to perfection on "Thou Shall," offering a little something to ease the tension. And when the G Unit comes together, the results are usually breathtaking: "Bonafide Hustler" finds 50 Cent dissing Wyclef Jean while Tony Yayo flips keen verses about peddling drugs, to the tune of "Mama's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird." Crunk beats from Lil' Jon ("Shorty Wanna Ride") and Three 6 Mafia ("Stomp," "Taking Hits") bring Buck's Tennessee roots to the fore, perfectly matching the rapper's country cadence. Although the boasts about his 'hood exploits can get tiresome, Buck delivers some nasty, first-rate storytelling and jeep beats. --Dalton Higgins

I can't front, i like g-unit with the exception of tony yayo which i thought would have been the hardest g-unit member. Young buck comes with a vengeance on his debut SOC. Even though he talks about murder's, robbing, ect; which most people criticize, he delivers each line with emotion and anger. With that being said, just about the entire cd is fire. My cuts on here include im a soldier; which 50 delivers a great chorus, do it like me, let me in; banging first single, look at me now, welcome to the south, prices on my head; which lloyd banks delivers some hot lines, bonafide hustler, bang bang, and black gloves. Young buck delivered a platinum cd to this day still gets rotation from me like 50 cents first cd get rich or die trying. If you like g-unit or young buck, then you gotta pick it up.

4 out of 5 stars Young Buck- Strait Outta Ca$hville.......2007-06-29

Damn, its funny that it turned out i liked this album as much as i did. Cause i am not gonna lie, i hated YB when let me in first dropped. And on top of that i still hate G-Unit to this day. I honestly hate G-Unit, particullarly Lloyd Banks and the biggest loser of them all Tony Yayo. 50 i can take occasionally, and same with Lil' Scrappy, but its weird because even though i hate G-Unit for the most part, my favorite rapper is in the group so its kinda hard to say i hate them. And yes my favorite rapper right now is Buck. But the funny thing is though, i dont really like rap that much, i mean its pretty rare that i even buy a rap album. But there are three rappers i am loyal to no mattter what, Buck, Pac, and to most peoples surprise Loon (yes the Diddy Loon). But other than those three rappers, its pretty rare that i will buy a rap album unless its from one of those three. But of those three right now (because Pac aint around anymore) Buck is my favorite. The thing about this album is that its a strait forward thug album, there is no soft material at all. So if you are used to normal G-Unit records which normally feature at least one more laid back love joint like 50 (21 Questions), Lloyd Banks (Karma), and Tony Yayo (Curious), there is none of that here. There are a few singer appearances like on the best song "Look At Me Now" which is just one of those rolling tracks. And then there is the track that will get your night started very fast "Let Me In", and of course "Shorty Wanna Ride". I mean Buck really surprised me with this record and he got me on lock now because i will be in line for all his future albums.

5 out of 5 stars The only one worth listening to on G unit.......2006-11-06

Standout Tracks: IM A SOLDIER, DO IT LIKE ME, LET ME IN, WELCOME TO THE SOUTH(even Lil Flip killed it), PRICES ON MY HEAD, SHORTY WANNA RIDE, BANG BANG, THOU SHALL, BLACK GLOVES(takes shots at Ja), STOMP(the version with T I is 100% better than this one). Filler: Takin hits(nothing to brag about) and Walk with me(Stat Quo just sucks period!). Bottom Line: Young Buck had the best album out of his whole click(G unit). No sugarsweet love ballads, no whining about getting shot a bunch of times just pure anadulterated gangsta s**t. Young Buck is the only one in G unit that is worth listening to now. Young Buck better break camp before people get tired of him him like they are getting tired of his deadweight click(G unit).

5 out of 5 stars Buck is worth the Bucks.......2006-05-29

Young Buck is a hardcore sounthern rapper that is a capable of anything. You just never know what he's gonna throw at u next. This cd shows u that by any means. His first single "Let Me In" feat. 50 Cent is the one that lit the fire. Then came along "Shorty Wanna Ride" which is a classic ryder song. Other great songs that aren't singles include: I'm A Soldier, Do It Like Me, Welcome To The South, Prices On My Head, Bonefide Hustler, STOMP, and if u pick up this Limited edition u get a off the hook song called DPG Unit feat. Snoop, DPG member and all of g-unit. Buck has so many talents, u can just see here what he can do on a solo album. This is probably one of the top solo album of a group member, besides like D12. Overall, I give this album 5 bricketts.

5 out of 5 stars buck is the best of g unit...........2006-03-13

i became a fan of g unit after 50's Get Rich or Die Tryin came out, but most of g units releases since then have been very disappointing. not this cd. buck is for real and it shows on Straight Outta Cashville. All of the tracks are hot and buck lays down some amazing lyrics. Go out and get this album... you'll love it even if your not a fan of the rest of G Unit.

5 out of 5 stars Nice..........2006-02-25

This album is really good. Young Buck has the sick "Back Down" style songs in "Stomp" to to the almost "party style" songs like "Shorty Wanna Ride". Serously, I listened to this CD like crazy, probably the one of the most of all the albums I own. You should go out and buy this album if you like that southern type rap with good lyrical ability (ie. see T.I. aswell).

4 out of 5 stars The shining star in G-Unit.......2006-02-12

I am not a fan of G-Unit or really anyone under Eminem/"Fitty".

I figured it best to get that out of the way because that will hopefully set the stage for the rest of the review. See, I remember Young Buck as the guy that showed up periodically on Twista's 1997 cut Adrenaline and always wanted him to come out with his own CD. It took a while but here it is, and I'm damn impressed.

While the other people in the Unit seem to get by just riding along with 50 Cent and good beats (does it matter who's rapping atop "On Fire"?), Young Buck actually has the lyrical talent to back it up. Yes, the guns and cars are in there as well, but unlike the boringly superficial Lloyd Banks or the just plain bad 50 Cent, Buck has a good flow and a knack for good hooks that really play well with the beat. At his worst he can fall victim to the typical G-Unit slop but thankfully that's minimal.

Of course the production is top notch, with a few of the tracks having some of my favorite beats ever (Welcome to the South, in addition to its great hook), and you can't find a rougher track than Stomp outside of Thug Luv.

4 stars, which is twice as much as I'd give any of his Unit compatriots.

4 out of 5 stars good cd.......2005-12-02

this is only for the grimmy hip hop listener. Buck doesn't bring too many punch lines, but he one of the realest artist's in the game right now. The weak point for the cd is the lack of versitility. The beats are similar as well as the lyrics-theres few songs on the cd that you can just chill to, all of them deal with life in the hood, but all of them are good. Buck is a different kind of artist, he's not known for selling cd's, he's known for being real.

G-Unit,yeah do you know 50 cent's group?Well, after Loyd Banks' "Hunger For More",certified as great album for the great number of club-bangers,Young Buck drops his solo cd.I'm sorry, but if you think that this is a classic,YOU ARE ON THE WRONG WAY!The story doesn't change:Buck thinks to be a thug, and what can he swear behind huge necklesses and militar trousers?Monotone structure,50 Cent appairs on every track almost.Just like "The Hunger For More".We want another sound,a sound that can refresh our ears...WE CAN'T WAIT JUST A MASTA ACE OR A KANYE WEST!!!Buck's rhymes are similar to crunk's rhymes, but I don't want identify this rapper as a Ludacris' fake.He got talent but he doesn't use it!Too much 50 infulence.MY OPINION,ya.If you want buy a REAL hip-hop album, don't look at "Straight Outta Ca$hville".Therer are many cds...
