Perhaps he now knows the answer to his question, "I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto," which shows up here twice. Shakur, like most hard rappers, liked to sound tough, kicking it with song titles unprintable in a family newspaper. But, underneath the braggadocio, there was fear. "Only Fear of Death," "Nothing to Lose," and "I'm Losin' It" tell a far different story than "Fake Ass Bitches." What would Jezus do?.......2007-02-03

If Jezus was riding alongside 2Pac would he have shot back at the snipers who took down hip/hop's only real martyr? Ok, Biggie's a martyr too, and Jezus would not have taken Biggie out either. The hits on these two men were not by true hip/hop fans. But Jezus would have picked this CD up if he was shopping at Circuit City when it came out, without having listened to it just because 2Pac was praying on the cover, and we all know who he was praying to. 2Pac made a lot more sense to ghetto youth than some white guy from 2000 years ago, plain and simple, so Jezus owes him respect!

Real Life.......2007-01-24

This is Tupac's third best album. #1 All eyez on me, #2 Until the End of Time. Put this cd in the player and listen to it from start to finish. If you dont get goosepimples, check your pulse! This cd got me through many hard times growin up, its that real.

The Last Great Pac Album.......2006-09-07

RU Still Down first posthumus 2pac album is my favorite one created after he died. Pacs vocals are not sped up and the production sounds like a 2pac album. I could list this whole album as the best songs but the standouts to me are RU Still Down, Hellrazor, Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto hip hop version, Open Fire, When I Get Free 1 and 2, Do For Love, F=== All Yall, well just forget it. Every song on here is a standout in my eyes. Pac's albums would go downhill from here.

Hip Hop.......2006-07-09

I'm surprised how this album has been accepted. Lets not get carried away with "his legacy" and his tragic death and all the controversy surrounding 2Pac. Everybody already knows about all that.

R U Still Down is my favorite album by 2Pac. Makaveli and All Eyez are both 5 stars to me, but R U Still Down is more raw. Especially as far as the production is concerned. A lot of people are apparently disappointed by the production on this album. I find it to have a sense of being more genuine, and more fitting than the other posthumous releases. This is probably since Pac actually had some input on creating these tracks. Overall, the sound of the album (and individual tracks) is more whole. Listening to R U Still Down helps to show how much of a project Makaveli and All Eyez On Me were. Those two albums were obviously much more orchestrated and calculated, and designed to provoke in every way. They were much more surgical and precise.

R U Still Down, however, is just straight hip-hop. There's scratching on here! There's no name dropping, or disses aimed at specific people. Just general expression of different emotions. Instead of a song about Tipper Gore or Bad Boy (for example) specificly, you get the more general (and undated) song about the struggles in general with government oppression or social commentary or anger or whatever. This is technically easier for a listener to relate to, since hardly any of us actually know Tipper Gore or Puffy, etc.....but somehow the audience doesn't want that. wtf?

"Thug Style" is probably the single song by Pac to most adhere to the street chronicling and nostalgic waxing scenarios in hip-hop. And at the same time, he's replying directly to everybody giving this album bad reviews: 'you don't know my style.'
Just because All Eyez sounded one way, or Makaveli sounded one way, or Strictly 4 My sounded one way....don't get it twisted. Its art. You gotta be open. Don't expect artists to be how you want them to be. You cannot expect anything from art, all that does is turn it into a product instead of art.

The lyrics on this album are of things more accesible to the common listener. The production is reminiscent of earlier 2Pac and more of a east-coast style of the early 90's (pre-Death Row). There's more lyrical acrobatics than usual (Let Them Thangs Go), and more of the same techincal (Lie to Kick It) and simple formats (F*** All Y'All) we're used to from 2Pac.

If you ignore all the hype and controversy surrounding the artist, and drop your expectations of him...just listen to the music on R U Still Down for the music, then maybe you can re-discover the best MC with this album.

There's a good reason why Jon B. has ben played on BET all these years and that's because when u cut through the fire, this Guy is just flat out smooth! He brings it for the dancefloor with "don't talk" ( i still play this song in my opening club sets) and one of my personal favorites is "Pride and Joy"...listen to the lyrics...of course all his hits are here seeming that he only released 3 albums and there was only one descent push for him with his debut album. Real music fans know a good thing when they hear one. All it took was one album and i was a fan!....i know most of the hard core fans have all three albums abut this one's great for those wanting a overview of his best stuff...this is also worth the ticket to get your hands on the last 2 tracks as they are unreleased. I hope this guy gets a break and is able to record again...he has too much to offer to not be making music. I would kill to hear him on a colaboration with Thicke and maybe Skateboard P...."i'm still down"

Excllent CD from one of the music industry's best.......2007-01-02

Blue eyed soul is the term best used to describe JON B. With Are U Still Down: Jon B Greatest Hits we have some of Jon's best work. All the classics are here from his debut single Someone To Love to the up-tempo tracks Don't Talk. I was surprised that the love ballad I Do (Whatcha Say Boo) was omitted but it's all good. My main compliant with the CD is the lack of album tracks such as I Ain't Going from Cool Relax and Do It All Again from Pleasures U Like. Jon B. is one of the few artists who actually has both good fast tracks and slow songs on his CD'S and that would have been an extra treat for fans. There are two worthy un-released tracks though which can be found at the end of the CD.

He just can't win.......2004-03-24

For those who didn't already suspect it, Jon B. released this compilation to get out of his contract with Epic. I didn't see the interview where he was talking about this, but my brother did and he said Jon was complaining about Epic's neglect to promote his last album, Pleasures U Like (which is even better than Cool Relax, by the way). That's probably easy to tell, considering that a lot of the songs on here weren't even released.

But there are still some good songs on here, ranging from his first single "Someone to Love" to his last single "Don't Talk". The latter was actually the only video shot for a Pleasures U Like song, and another song on here, "Now That I'm With You", was supposed to be the following single, but that never ended up happening.

Anyway, there are other highlights, like "Are U Still Down", "Finer Things", and "Don't Say". And you wouldn't be able to call this a hits collection if "They Don't Know" wasn't on here. "Time After Time" is an okay song, but I didn't like a lot of the songs from his first album anyway. But since they weren't just using singles, they could have replaced that song with another track from the underpromoted Pleasures U Like album, like "Boy Is Not A Man", "Lonely Girl" or "Tell Me". Or how about "I Ain't Going Out" from Cool Relax? That song still sounds great (and FUNNY) today.

The real treat of this album is at the end, with "All I Can Do" and "True Love", two bonus tracks that you can't find anywhere. Those, and the rest of the songs, should prove that Jon B. is a very talented artist (albeit underrated). Sadly, I don't know if we'll be hearing any new stuff from him any time soon because after leaving Epic he jumped to DreamWorks, and rumor has it that they're closing their doors. But if you still want to support Jon, then pick up this album. Of course, if you're like me and already have all his albums, then just download the bonus tracks. And pick up an extra copy of Pleasures U Like for your friend.

Very Satisfied.......2004-01-27

At first, I wasnt going to purchase this cd because I basically have most of the songs on it except for 3 unreleased tracks. For one thing, this is a great way for the record company to make money off the fans of Jon B. Knowing that Jon B. only came out with 3 albums in his career and it seemed a little too soon for a greatest hits album. When one of my friends downloaded the song "True Love" and played it for me, I just couldnt resist. I went out and bought the cd. Although, buying this cd was a task because I had to go to 4 different records stores to find it. I guess this can be considered as a rare ablum. All the songs on this album is very good including the untitled and unreleased tracks. This album has all the hits and all the songs that were very popular. Great for all Jon B. fans and people who are just starting to listen to Jon B. I guess its worth the money.

I love Jon B!!!!! He is soooooo hott and his greatest hits CD "Are U Still Down" is off the hook!!!!All the songs on the CD are good....My favorite song on the album is "Now I'm With You." I love this song because the lyrics are filled with so much love and passion. He is a great music artist and i hope to hear his music for years to come!!!!I love you Jon B!!!!!
